We have classified the 62 complaints from 2010 Honda Accord about SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact sped up to avoid a crash and the accelerator pedal became stuck and the brake pedal extended to the floor. the contact placed the gear in neutral, which bumped up the brake pedal to normal position. there were no warning indicators. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not respond. the failure mileage was 48,000.
2010 honda accord. consumer writes in regards to vehicle rear brake pads. *smd during a state inspection, the consumer was informed the rear brakes needed to be replaced. the consumer stated the vehicle has 30,000 miles of highway driving and the pads should not have worn out so quickly.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. the contact stated that two months after purchasing the vehicle, she had to replace the rear brakes, rotors and the front calipers. the dealer stated that they would give the contact a discount on the repairs. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue but offered no assistance. the failure and current mileages were 28,422. updated 07/13/12 *bf the consumer stated the case was settled and honda was mailing a check for $150. updated 07/18/12
I went to the honda dealership for service on my 2010 honda accord sedan, the dealer said my rear brakes need to be replaced. my front brakes were fine and had twice as much pad life left on them compared to the rear pads. the cost would be $249- to replace the rear pads. i have never owned a car where the rear brakes need replacing before the front brakes. this is very concerning to me and needs to be addressed. *tr
Heard squeaking noise when braking. took to dealer and told needed new rear brakes in this front wheel drive vehicle with mostly highway miles and had to pay $185.00. *js
The rear brakes are worn in under 10,000 miles. *tr
Premature wear on rear brakes. brake pad wear indicator made scraping sound from right rear wheel. inspected brakes and found right rear inner brake pad worn down. left rear brakes also worn but not yet to wear indicator. only 26,995 miles on car at time of incident. examined front pads and found them to be in near like new condition at 9/32 inches thickness. *tr
Brake pads at 23,700 miles completely worn and needed to be replaced along with rotors. *tr
I had just dropped my child off at school and was in line to leave the school parking lot. i was very slowly moving forward as cars would leave. i was moving slowly when all of a sudden my car quickly accelerated and would not stop regardless of me hitting the brakes. i ended up hitting the car in front of me. this all happened so fast. no injuries but very scary. *tt
Rear brakes on 2010 honda accord are almost "metal on metal". this should not take place with a car that is less than 2 years old with only 17,500 miles. *tr
Had to replace rear brakes at 21,837 miles costing $212.81. my vin not part of settlement but there is obviously still an issue with honda brakes. would like to be informed of any investigations or lawsuits. i am seeing many complaints on this site with no defect investigations? *tr
When i took the car for servicing to the open road honda (rt 1s) in nj, they told me that the wear and tear on the rear brake pad is heavy and it needs to be replaced. i drove the car mostly highways during my previous job for most of the miles and i didn't even apply much brakes and now the dealer is saying that the rear brake pad is gone and it needs to be replaced. however the front pad is as good as new. how can it be. i came to know that there is a class action suit with honda on this subject, but it seems they're covering only a certain few vin number, this is total absurdity, if the braking system is failing for any / all models of honda, it should be considered. *tr
I went to a local sears automotive service center after i'd heard squeaking coming from the rear of my vehicle. a co-worker told me it sounded like a problem with my brakes and that i should have them checked. the mechanic showed me the brake pads that came from the rear brakes of my car--there was no padding left! another mechanic advised me that he'd seen a lot of hondas come in a similar condition--front brake pads showing some wear and rear brake pads with almost no padding remaining. he advised me to call honda and ask about recalls. i called the local honda dealership and was advised to visit this website: www.accordsettlement.com. i called for assistance because it didn't appear that my vin was included. i contacted [xxx] llp, who said they couldn't assist me because my car was not affected by the class action lawsuit. i think that this braking issue should be further investigated--it appears that it affects more than just the first nine 2010 models produced (as [xxx]claims), as i'm experiencing similar problems to other accord owners. brakes are a very component of one's vehicle! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr
Rear brake pads worn right into the rotors. stopping distance longer than usual.vehicle struck curb before i was able to stop it. *tr
The rear brakes on my honda accord have worn out prematurely. after just over a year of owning my car i already need to replace the rear brake pads. the honda dealer did not seem surprised when i brought my car in with this problem and then after some searching i found the class action lawsuit that was settled on the 2008 accords for the same problem: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/100408-honda-settles-lawsuit-over-accord-brakes/. honda is clearly aware of this issue, and they should be held responsible for it, and fix this problem. i am very disappointed that i will be having to take my car in for new brake pads 2 to 3 times more often than any other car i could have bought. i chose honda for its reliability and now i am being let down. *tr
Needed rear brakes at 21,189 miles. *tr
Rear pads worn at such low mileage. class action suit was filed but my car not included. it should have been because there are a lot of owners who had the same problem. perhaps the government should look into this. i think the problem is more than honda will admit to. *tr
Premature wear brakes, both front and rear, excessive noise. *tr
2010 honda accord. consumer states brake failure *tgw the consumer stated the vsa light illuminated due to a problem with the calipers and the brakes. also, there was a strange noise coming from the vehicle. the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. *jb
2010 honda accord. consumer writes in regards to issues with brakes *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle has been in the repair shop five times. the consumer stated there was a noise coming from the rear brakes as well as a burning type odor coming from the right rear of the vehicle. when the brake pedal was engaged, a vibration was felt coming from the rear of the vehicle as well as a loud noise, grinding and rubbing. *jb
the rear brake pads were worn down and had to be replaced after only 13,900 miles. *tt
I took my car for a regular service at the dch academy honda and the service dealer told me that i need to replace rear brakes. it was very surprising that at 22k miles the rear brakes have gone. he told me about the complaint filed for the 2008-2009 and some 2010 models. i filed the complaint and found out that my vin is not eligible for a reimbursement. i believe they should consider all the 2010 models. i dont know what is the criteria honda has to indentify faulty brakes. clearly, honda has flaw in keeping track of thier inventory or they are not willing to acknoloege cusoter complains and act on the informaiton.
My 2010 honda accord experienced premature rear brake wear and i paid to have the brakes replaced at only 22,837 miles. there was a class action lawsuit and settlement for the 2008 and 2009 model years (and only a handful of vins for the 2010 model year which does not include mine). i thought that honda had fixed the problem and that improved pads were being installed but apparently not since the 2010 model year still seems to be experiencing this problem. *kb
My car is currently in for inspection with ~16,000 miles. i was just told by honda that i need new rear brakes. it is going to cost me $210 to have the replaced. *tr
Went into my honda dealer for an oil change and tire rotation and was notified that my rear brakes in my 2010 honda accord were shot at 14,805 miles. never in my entire driving career have i ever experienced this and i am 65 years old. evidently there has been a problem and consumers have not been notified. waiting for a call from honda and will be checking into this further. there is a class action lawsuit against honda regarding this. *tr
Rear brake pads wore out on new 2010 accord at 25,000 miles. i was told that the cost to repair them would be reimbursed, however, when i submitted my claim, i was told my vin number did not match up and they were not going to reimburse me. 2008-2009 and some 2010 accords are included in honda settlement for faulty rear brake pads....i think they should have included all 2010 accords as the problem has not been resolved. rear brake pads should not go out at 25,000 miles. pathetic honda. we will think twice before buying another honda. *tr
Took my 2010 honda accord into priority honda in chesapeake, va to have the routine oil change and tire rotation done. i have been taking my car there since it was brand new to have all the scheduled maintenances done. at 30,000 miles, i am being told i need rear brakes and they are almost metal-to-metal and that honda was aware of the issue and would reimburse me up to 150.00 of the repair cost which was close to 200.00. i called honda automobile customer service to only be told by them that my vin# is not covered and it was only very few 2010 accords that were affected. when i called the dealership back, they simply just apologized that they had given me wrong information, advised me that it was normal for rear brakes to wear out in 30,000 miles (which i know is not correct), and said it was wear and tear and i had to pay for the cost of repairs. really....this is the second honda i have purchased, but i am mighty afraid it will be my last and i am seriously considering trading it in for anything other than a honda asap. what is also very concerning is i see that i am not the only one that has had the same exact problem. *tr
A couple of weeks ago the brakes started squealing. this has happened several times in the past two weeks. several times the brakes were slow to respond and squealed loudly. i have a 2010 honda accord v-6. in june i had to have my rotors turned because the car would shimmy when i used the brakes. honda service said that the warranty didn't cover this. i bought the car new and only have ~25k miles on it. the mileage is 90% highway and interstate miles and there should be no reason that the brake pads should be replaced other than poor material. i have read about the class action lawsuit, but not sure what to do next.. *tr
At 28,000 miles the rear brakes had to be replaced, rotors cut to the cost of $314.59. i bought the car on march 29, 2010 brand new. john in the service department at middletown honda tells me the front brakes are perfect and this is normal wear and tear on the rear brakes- really. i drive highway miles to and from work, no excessive braking so not it is not normal wear and tear on rear brakes. never had this kind of problem with any of my other new cars - never had this problem. the only thing i was able to get from john was the 800 number to call because he "thought" he had heard something about a class action suit. thought, really hmmm. in all my years of driving, over 40 years, never have i had this kind of issue any of my cars nor had the service department show the nonchalant attitude towards a customer. repeat business, i don't think so. *tr
Honda accord ls 2010 brakes out of nowhere started to make hissing sound. pulled car over to determine reason and determined it only made sound when pressing brake pedal. the car had less than 15000 miles on it and therefore was shocked by sound. honda has created a premature brake issue and must be held accountable . *tr
I own a 2010 honda accord v6. i have had this car for one year. the mileage is just over 18,000 miles. when i took my car in for inspection on yesterday at the honda dealership, they informed me that my rear brakes will need to be replaced within the next three months. i have owned hondas every since 1989 and premature brake wear has never occurred with any of the honda that i have owned. please tell me what i can do to get some type of resolution for this problem. i feel this is a safety issue because your brakes are the most important thing in a car. also, this car has a faulty front bumper. it is attached to the car by snaps. these snaps break and the bumper starts separating from the car. i have taken it back to the honda dealership and they sent it to their body shop but the bumper is still try to separate from the car. if the bumper comes off it could cause an accident. *tr
I was sold a 2010 honda accord last year and i have already had to replace the calipers, rotors, and pads on my rear brake assembly. i was then told by honda america that these are 'wear' parts that they will not reimburse me for. i fully understand that brakes are wear parts but 'not at 20,000 miles'. if it is ok for honda to sell braking systems that need this kind of attention so early in life, they should have to warn customers at the time of purchase. *tt
Tl*the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. the contact stated while driving in reverse the vehicle made a loud metal noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test that indicated that the rear brake was worn. the dealer stated the failure was due to wear and tear. the dealer replaced the rear brake pad. the manufacturer filed a report and advised that him that he would receive a call back. the failure mileage was 20,490 and the current mileage was 27,050.
2010 honda accord. consumer states premature brake wear *tgw the consumer was informed by the dealer the rear brakes had worn out unevenly with only 22,000 miles on the vehicle. the consumer learned of a class action law suit regarding the brake material that was used on certain vehicles when they were manufactured. however, the consumers vehicle identification number was not included. *jb
2010 honda accord -- repair facility noted excessive wear to rear brake pads at 24,000 miles. 10% life remaining. front brake at more than 50% remaining life. independent repair facility stressed extreme concern with wear. vehicle brought to honda facility. honda technician indicated that the wear was "normal" for this model vehicle. attributed wear to "extreme driving conditions" even though i do not reside on a mountain or do excessive hard braking. honda unwilling to address brake wear under warranty. i believe there to be a severe defect. *tr
I purchased my 2010 honda accord in oct 2010; i brought my car back to dealer 3 times for the same problem, excessive vibration during braking. dealer re-surfaced the first 2 times, replaced rotor the third time. however, after 7k miles, the problem came back again. *tr
I have a 2010 4 door honda accord v6 ex. with only 28,000 miles on it and now my rear brakes squeak indicating worn bake pads. the rear brake pads should last around 70,000 miles. unfortunately my car is not one of the few 2010 vin #s covered by the honda premature rear brake pads wear settlement even though i have the same exact problem. i hope there will be enough complaints about this problem to expand/extent to other 2010 honda accord affected by this problem but not covered by the settlement. thanks *tr
Premature rear brake replacement for 2010 honda accord. rear pads need to be replaced at 33,000 miles. vehicle is not on original class suit settlement. *tr
2010 honda accord with the new upgraded rear inner brakes still is prematurely wearing out at around 20k miles. all other brake pads including the rear outer ones are 90% there however the rear inner pads are completely worn out. this seems to be a larger issue than just bad brake pads since all other pads are fine. i have very concerned this will cause insufficient breaking and damage to the vehicle itself. *tr
I had a periodic service check on my 2010 honda accord at 15299 miles, and was told i had 15% left on my rear brakes pads. however, i was also told my front brakes had 90% left. speaking to the service representative, he said this was not unusual, each driver is different. he said my warranty for the brakes had expired. this much wear on rear brakes seems highly abnormal. *tr
2010 honda accord. consumer states problem with rear brakes *tgw the dealer informed the consumer the rear brakes only had 15% life while the front brakes had 90% remaining. the consumer believed there was a defect with the rear brakes. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. the contact stated that the vehicle failed state inspection because the rear brake pads were severely worn. the contact stated that the brake pads would wear prematurely and believed the failure to be a defect. the dealer advised that the brake pads were exhibiting signs of normal wear and tear. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 28,503.
Car had rear 2mm and 7.5mm front. send my letter to get refund from honda. but honda claim the vin on my car was not defective so they do not pay for my brakes. send a second letter still waiting for honda to reply. *kb
Premature rear brake ware. *tr
The rear brakes of the vehicle, which should be first replaced at about 70,000 had to be replaced at 25,000 at a cost of about $175 due to a faulty design in tthat the brakes had excess ware because the braking mechanism didn't release as they should. the car is only one year old and most miles are highway miles with little braking. i do not ride the brake pedal and never have.
Premature brake wear. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. the contact stated that the rear brakes failed twice in less than one year and a half. the rear brake pads were originally replaced at 11,000 miles and had to be replaced every six months afterward. the front brakes had yet to need replacing. the failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 21,000.
2010 honda accord. consumer writes in regards to wheel vibration issues. *smd the consumer stated her husband noticed a strong wheel vibration while driving on the freeway. when her husband applied the brake, the vibration could be felt. updated 11/04/13
Steering wheel and front end shakes when driving over 60mph. issue started when car had a few hundred miles on it. dealership replaced tires, balanced tires many times, performed alignment, replaced front rotors. problem still exists. seems unsafe to drive at times. car now has 21000 miles. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 honda accord. the contact stated that he could hear a grinding noise coming from the rear brakes when braking at approximately 5 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 11,000.
