I own a 2008 honda accord. my rear brakes were worn down and squeaking, so i brought my car to pacific honda. pacific honda informed me i would be liable for the repair cost, since it was not covered under the car warranty. failure mileage was 24,985 miles and repair cost was $269.04. *tr
Vehicle mileage was 27,637. dated: 05/25/2009. the rear brakes where squeaking when the brake pedal depressed. i took the dealer. dealer said the rear brake pads were worn down to 3 millimeters. dealer resurface rotor and replaced brake pads. the brake repaired cost $194.39. now the vehicle mileage 47,955. date: 04/08/2010. the brake has same problem like before. dealer said brakes need to repair again and cost $194.39. *tr
Brake pads wore out prematurely for a second time after a year of being replaced. there's no reason for this when i'm driving 80% of the time highway with little braking. reparation cost $200 and it is not cover under warranty. *tr
I had an oil change on 3/12/10 and was told i would need brakes at my next oil change in approx. 6 mos. in late march, my car had a loud scraping noise. i took it to the dealer on 4/6/10 and had to have my rear brakes replaced. i was given a 50% discount on the repair but think that it should have been repaired under my extended warranty. i have found on the internet that the 2008 honda accord has the most problems with premature brake wear. i also have had problems with the leather seats peeling. i have also found that this is a common problem. i would like to have both of these items recalled. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact noticed that there was premature brake wear in the rear of the vehicle. the rotors and brake pads were replaced at 19,600 and less than a year later, the rear brakes need to be replaced again. the dealer was contacted but provided no further assistance. the manufacturer informed the contact about a class action settlement that would enable him to receive a refund and the contact mailed in the necessary forms and was awaiting a response. the vehicle was not further repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 19,600.
The rear brakes of my 2008 honda accord are squealing badly at all times when driving. the car has 34,000 miles on it. the rear pads are almost completely gone. the car has had serious vibration issues with the brakes ever since new. when slowing down from highway speeds the car vibrates badly. one time it almost resulted in the loss of control of the vehicle because the vibration was so bad. i have seen hundreds of complaints about the rear brakes on the 08 accord. the common thread appears to be that honda is not admitting to a problem and is blaming the drivers mis use of the brakes as the cause of the wear. not sure how so many people can be braking incorrectly? i have owned many cars and have never had pads wear out so quickly. honda has a defect here no doubt about it. are they waiting to become another toyota before they admit to using bad parts and/or a bad design of the rear brakes and/or maybe bad programming of the braking system? it appears that repairs have been done for free for many people and at cost for many others. whether the repairs are done for free/under warranty, appears to depend on the person and their success with negotiating with their dealership. honda needs to own up to the safety problem on their most popular car and devise a fix. apparently they are not going to do it without a good swift kick in the pants by a law firm in the form of a class action suit or the government stepping in. *tr
Premature wear of rear brake pads resulting in replacement with 26,000 miles. *tr
Have always held honda in highest regards when it comes to service and manufacturing, but this within itslef is a travesty!!!!! how many people will have to lose their lives or be injured in a near fatal accident before this issue is addressed? purchased 2008 honda less than 1 year ago, premature rear brake pad wear, which is definitely a safety issue, heard suttle noises that indicated a defect in 2008 honda accord braking system @ less than 20,000 miles, with no indication that rear brakes needed servicing: @26,000 miles rear brake pads worn down metal to metal, two trips to the honda dealer before actually acknowledging repair needed and replacing pads
I have complained to honda numerous times about the brakes on my 2008 honda accord. the brakes were replaced within the 1st year of the purchase of this new vehicle. months later, they turned the rotors after my constant complaints. the brakes have continued to cause problems (squeeking, etc). i had this replaced today by a brake company. the inside of the pads were extremely worn, and the car only has 28,000 miles. another honda owner made me aware that they were replacing the rear brakes on 08 honda accords, so i called them and they are refusing to reimburse me as the brakes installed are not honda brakes. honda is not considering this a recall; however, they are fully aware of the rear brake problem (to my recent discovery). if these pads are wearing quicker than planned, they have the propensity to cause someone to not be able to stop. they failed to notify customers of this problem. if someone does not complain to them about their brakes, they have no way of knowing about the replacement.
I own a 2008 honda accord 4 door vehicle with a v6. the car is about 22 months old with aproximately 22,000 miles. the rear breaks failed. honda is calling it "premature wear" and paid for the majority of the repair. they are telling me they have neither a recall, yet they paid for it because it is known problem with the car. thye have stated they have no fix for the problem and i can expect the brakes to fail every 20,000 miles.
Premature rear brake pad failure on my 2008 honda accord. *tr
My car was making a terrible noise ..i figured the front pads were due for replacement at 30,000 miles .took it to a shop which was open on sunday and found that the rear pads were completely gone . the front pads had little if any wear on them according to the sear's tech who did the work. he thought that the premature rear brake pad wear was due to defective spring. i have had no such notification about the problem from honda as of this date ... ..when i called hendrick honda to complain /advise them of the issue ,they knew exactly what i was talking about...and said it more than likely would have been covered by the warranty but since i had taken it somewhere else ,he could do nothing for me ...what am i supposed to do, ride on bad brakes just b/c they aren't open on sunday??? terrible customer relation. *dt
Honda engineers are held liable for the many brake problems on the 2008 accord model. a front-wheel drive vehicle should not have a rear brake pad wear down to nothing after only 18000 miles of driving. this is a safety hazard that will results in innocent people being hurt over a design flaw. the dealers know there is a problem but they are "sweeping it under the rug" just like toyota did recently. i fear for my wife and two children who use this car more than i do. how many people have to be hurt or killed in accidents before the nhtsa does something about it. please respond with suggestions and/or comments.
2008 honda accord, premature rear brake wear. at 32,000 rear brakes were replaced for third time, first @12,550 miles and second @ 19,700 miles.
2008 honda accord with 20k miles needs rear brake pads, due to defective brake pads. honda of america does not see this as a safety issue and will not recall or replace pads as warranty; they just want their $120. there are hundreds of similar cases on the internet. don't you think faulty brake pads are surely a safety issue? i have been in the automotive service industry for over 20 years and am a ase master tech. this is just ridiculous and something needs to be done about it as soon as possible. *tr
Honda accord 2008 - rear brake failure after only 15,000 miles. other cars i had lasted 40 to 70,000 miles. it can lead to brake failure as users aren't expecting brake pads to wear out so soon. *dt if not a recall, at least a warning from honda to all buyers is warranted, in my opinion, so they can keep an eye or replace with longer lasting pads pronto. thanks. *dt
Around 4:45 p.m., thursday, march 11, 2010, i took my '08 honda accord to goodson honda i-45 north, houston, texas, because at approximately 30,000 miles loud noises was coming from the rear of the vehicle. it appeared that i was having serious brake problems. after an inquiry of the brake's quality and performance, the service advisor, carl reed confirmed that the rear brake shoes would be replaced with a better quality. he informed me that honda's corporate office had selected a new company that would provide better quality, and longer life spans of their brake shoes and pads. in addition, honda's technician had to replace the front brake pads at approximately 20,000 miles. the qualities of the brake system using low quality brake pads and shoes have proven to be a nuisance for owners. the service advisor, carl reed, drove the vehicle to the rear of customer service and it stayed hidden for about 20 minutes. then one of honda's rouge technicians, jose terdomo, drove the vehicle inside the service area where it was visible from a window. he kept the hood of the vehicle open as he removed the rear brake shoes. around 6:10 repairs were completed, and i checked the vehicle out at 6:19. when i turned the air condition on after departing from goodson honda service department, contaminated air flowing from the vents initiated an immediate respiratory discomfort. while venturing back and forth to work friday, 03/12/2010, the air quality that flowed from the vent was unfit for humans to breathe. as it flowed from the air condition vents, it permeated the air with dangerous nanoparticles, lethal chemicals, and irritant gases compressed with tetrafluoroethane (r-134a). this dangerous mixture quickly attacks the respiratory and central nervous systems with its lethal combination. if you need further information, please feel free to contact me. *tr
Pre mature rear brake wear on a 2008 honda accord. had rear brakes replaced at 12k miles. rear brakes again replaced with new rotors at 48k. worried about pre mature wear and how this would effect safety. including brakes that came wit vehicle this is the third set, seems to be a design error. have seen thousands of complaints on internet for same. need help to get honda corporation to fix problem before injuries to people occur. *tr
2008 honda accord rear brakes wear prematurely. had to be replaced at 27k miles. *tr
I had to change the rear brake rotors on my 2008 honda accord ex- v6, while my front rotors and pads are perfectly ok and needed no repair or replacement at all. according to my experience with previous vehicles, i never had to get any work done on rear brakes even up to a mileage of 180,000. on this car i had to change not just the pads but the rotors as well just at 40,000 miles. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. the contact stated that he could smell an unusual odor coming from the rear brakes. the dealer confirmed the rear brakes needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and advised due to weight istribution, the rear brakes would wear sooner than the front brakes. the manufacturer deemed the failure as normal wear and tear. no assistance was offered. there were no repairs made to the vehicle at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was 15,145 and the failure mileage was 15,136.
I own a 2008 honda accord with 16,000 miles. recently i took the car into the dealer for routine maintenance and was told that my rear brakes were gone and needed to be replaced. the dealer said that they were aware of no problems with rear brakes on the accord. i went on line and found hundreds of other having the same problem, some as early as 6000 miles. honda offered to pick up half the cost, unit i told them that i was aware of a fix in the 2010 model. the dealer then acknowledged problems with early brake replacement on the accord. honda then replaced them with the new pads that have springs added to stop the dragging of the pads on the disc. this is costing many people expenses that they should not be exposed to. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while parked, the contact noticed an excessive amount of brake dust located on the rear wheels. the contact also stated while braking at any speed that it felt as though the rear brakes were pulling on the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the brakes exhibited normal wear and tear. the rear brake pads were replaced. approximately one year later, the failure occurred again. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed and was not repaired. the failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage is 50,000. updated 03/24/11*lj updated 05/02/11
My wife and i are age 55+ and are responsible drivers. we own a 2008 honda accord with approximately 22,000 miles. at about 18,000 miles, and within the 3 year warrantee period, we contacted honda regarding a pulsation experienced when the brakes were depressed. we were told the problem is related to warping of the brake rotors. honda indicated that this was not covered under the warrantee. we have just discovered that honda has been subject to a class action lawsuit regarding the brakes on our vehicle. the problem we have experienced appears to be directly related to the issue in this lawsuit. we are requesting reimbursement for replacement of brake rotors and pads. The rear brake pads on my 2008 honda accord are wearing too quickly. i replaced them after 23,760 miles. my co-worker had the same problem. *tr
Rear brakes wore out prematurely at 29,000 miles. *tr
2008 honda accord 30,000 miles and needs a rear brake system change for the second time. i already changed the rear brake system at 17000 miles at 15 months of purchase and now after 7 more months the honda asked me to change my rear brakes again. *tr
I have a 2008 honda accord that has premature brake ware. i have 34,000 miles on the vehicle and i have needed to replace the rear brake pads twice and the rotors once! this is completely unacceptable. i have owned several cars in my life, and have never seen a brake system designed so poorly. i have found online that honda knows of this issue, but they are refusing to implement a fix and recall this model, which would be the ethical thing to do. they need to own up to the design flaw and come up with a solution. we all know how important good brakes are to the safety of everyone on the road. *tr
I started to hear squeaking at around 14k miles, at which point i found it suspicious and researched multiple similar occurrences online. i also received a letter from honda advising of the "potential" safety issue, which also recommended to have the brakes inspected. i made an appointment with the dealership, and asked if there would be a charge for this inspection/replacement, and they said that if the root of the problem with the brakes was not related to the issue that i would be charged. i did not like their response and argued about it, but at the end of the day had to sign a form to accept the disclaimer in order for the inspection to be performed. the problem was in fact related to the safety notice and was repaired at no charge. *tr
I own a 2008 honda accord and in feb. 2009 i had 15,000 miles on the car and the rear brakes replaced by honda at a cost of $86.55 which was about half the price of the repair. in feb. 2010 at 30,000 miles the rear brakes were down to the sensors and they had to be replace again. i have owned a 1999 and have a 2007 honda accord and never replace the rear brakes until they had ar lease 45,000 miles on the car. there is a problem with the rear brakes on the 2008 and 2009 honda accord. canada has a customer satisfaction campaign for the rear brakes. the brakes were replace at no charge in feb.2010 and i should be reimbursed for my $86.55 that i paid in feb. 2009 but honda refuses to pay for the repair. there should be a recall for the rear brakes honda does not want to do this cause it will cost them millions of dollars. i hope we are not looking at another toyota situation. *tr
The rear brakes wearing out significantly at low mileage. perhaps in the abs/traction control/stability control system; tweaked the rear brakes to engage earlier/harder than normal. i think american honda motor was trying to eliminate some front end nose dive when you applied the brakes. bottom line, rear brakes are wearing out at an excessive rate. *tr
Rear and front brake pad wear unevenly and very fast at low mileage. these brakes pad suppose to last about 80,000 miles. also brakes squeals and makes excessive noise which should not be present on brand new vehicle at low mileage. *tr
Premature brake wear on honda accord 2008 models. these new cars require expensive brake repairs (new rotors and brakes) as frequently as every 15k miles. rear brakes are failing so soon after purchasing a new car. *tr
2008 honda accord-rear brake pads worn out at 22,300 miles. service personnel admit there was no uneven wear, not caused by driving habits etc. described by service mgr. as normal according to honda motor co. and not covered by warranty. *tr
Rear brakes worn prematurely. *tr
Honda accord front brake rotors warped at 10000 miles. honda dealer repaired. brakes continue to squeal occasionally. *tr
On a 2008 honda accord brakes started to squeak at 24,000 miles (highway miles), took it to a honda dealer and they said that rear brakes are worn and need to be replaced. asked why the brakes wore out with so little miles and they said it was due to the weight of the vehicle and that the brakes are a "soft pad". rear brakes were replaced and rotors were cut. i paid for the cost of replacing the brakes. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving he heard a grinding noise, but he did not have problems with the vehicle stopping when he applied the brake. he took the vehicle to the dealer. the dealer stated that both rear caliper were rusted and it was because he didn't drive the vehicle enough. the dealer stated that they could remove the rust. he took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated the calipers were build with defective metal and that is why the calipers rusted. the vehicle will be repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000, and the current mileage was 21,000. the vin was unavailable.
The rear inside brake pads on my 2008 honda accord, which has 25k miles, are severely worn and ihad to be immediately replaced. the rear outside brake pads, however, show normal wear for the car's mileage. an internet search of this problem indicated thousands of similar complaints affecting 2008 honda accords and represents a safety hazard that could lead to serious injury or death. *tr
premature wearing of rear brake pads in 2008 honda accord - down to 30 percent as 12,500. with others it has happened with less mileage. safety concern - risk of brake failure had to replace pads at my own cost - should be covered and problem corrected by honda due to design flaw and safety issue! *tr
Bought a 2008 honda accord new in june '08. rear brakes wore out after 25000 mi. i thought front pads were supposed to wear first but it seems, not. very odd since 90% of my driving is interstate and my last car went 80k+ mi before my first brake job. went on line and it seems many people are having the same issue. i hope nobody gets hurt here. *tr
2008 honda accord - premature brake ware. at 23,000 the brakes began to squeal.. i took it to kuni honda on arapahoe rd. - they said they were well below tolerance.. i didn't believe them because it only had 23k on it. i picked it up from them, with no repair, and took it to just brakes for the second opinion. they confirmed the need for the brake repair. i had them do it. i am now in negotiations with honda customer service for reimbursement for $144.00. *tr
Premature wearing of rear brake pads in 2008 honda accord - happened to me at 20,000 miles, with others it has happened with less mileage. safety concern - risk of brake failure had to replace pads at my own cost - should be covered and problem corrected by honda due to design flaw and safety issue! *tr
2008 honda accord premature wear rear brake linings internet shows hundreds of complaints occurred when honda went to disc instead of shoes - fortunately no incident happened. *tr
I have encountered premature rear brake pad wear after 21500 miles on a 2008 honda accord v6 ex-l sedan. i purchased replacement pads for the front brakes, but was totally shocked when i found the front brake pads showing little to no wear. a quick check of the rear pads revealed the brakes completely worn down! we have never left the parking brake on the car, when in motion. i am 44 years old and have never witnessed a car wearing its rear pads before the front ones and especially when the fronts look new. also, i am wondering how this excessive brake wear has been affecting our gas mileage, as we have yet to achieve honda's mpg ratings even when running with cruise control on only 4 cylinders (eco mode one v6 ex-l). there are hundreds of complaints against honda for the 08-09 accord rear braking system and honda and their dealerships are blaming the owners for improper driving habits. girard gibbs llp and co-counsel filed a class action lawsuit in september 2009 against honda, related to the rear braking systems in the 2008-2009 honda accord vehicles. the class action lawsuit against honda seeks certification of a nationwide class on behalf of owners and leasees of 2008-2009 honda accord vehicles. the case is pending in the united states district court for the central district of california before judge morrow. also, apparently honda of america has been aware of this issue as the new safety design that comes standard with the car (vehicle stability assist, traction control, anti-lock, etc) has had an unanticipated affect on the life of the rear brake pads. at this point honda should be issuing a recall on all 2008-2009 accords to correct this issue. *tr
Rear brake pads are wearing down prematurely. i have a 2008 honda accord ex-l and have gone threw two pad replacements and one set of rotors replaced and am about to replace rotors again. i contacted honda to inform them that two mechanics have seen the brake pads from the front and the rear. they were amazed at how quickly the rear pads wear down. honda response that the braking system was new and the braking power now has a 60 - 40 distribution. 60 % on the rear and 40% on the front. every mechanic that i've spoke to about this stated that if the vehicle was rear wheel drive then they can understand "somewhat" but for a front wheel drive vehicle the front brakes should be taking most of the power to stop. never the less , honda stated that they are aware of complaints about the same issue and that they were correcting the issue but my case is not the same. every online article i read showed the exact same issue i encountered. all i want is my brakes to be corrected before i die or any one of my kids die. somewhere online i was told that a class-action lawsuit was filed with honda with regards to the brake wear. *tr
Rear brakes wore out prematurely (22,000) miles. they were replaced but i could see how this could be more serious because you would not expect to be looking at this problem after only 18 months. *tr
I purchased a brand new 08 honda accord ex-l in march 08. around 10k miles i started noticing during light braking the brakes would squeak. i figured the pads were just braking in and that the brake dust was causing the noise. after washing and waxing my accord i inspected and checked the brake calibers, pads and shims to see what caused the noise. i noticed that the rear brake pads had little to no pad remaining. i replaced the rear brake pads with less than 13k miles. i paid it no mind because i'm a mechanic, but now i'm concerned. i currently have 24k miles on it and again i'm experiencing the same brake squeaking noise. i have purchased eight hondas, three new and five used. i currently have four with over 850k miles on them total. throughout my honda mania, i have never experienced such a honda deficiency. today, i have read comments and complaints against honda dealerships and honda america. i'm totally over taken by this and can only assume honda will do the right thing soon and continue to provide premium products and services. *tr

The rear brakes on my 2008 honda accord have worn prematurely. it was necessary to replace the brake pads at 22,000 miles. *tr
