September 14, 2008 and also about 8-10 days before that date i experienced a get up and go while my foot was on the brake. the engine rpms climbed and i had i all could do to stand on the brake. i was in traffic and on a slight uphill grade (4-6%) in both cases. the car was creeping forward inspite of my efforts to brake as hard as i could. i was able to get the car into neutral before the light change. the car acted normally after that. my latest experience perhaps 100 miles later was much more dramatic. in this case the engine race was more violent and the car shuttered as i stood on the brakes. i believe the wheels were spinning and i was creeping uphill. i looked down to see if my foot was squarely on the brake as didn't want my foot to slip. my right foot was squarely on mid pedal. i do not drive with both feet. i have never had an accident and am very safety conscience. this time i again was able to get the car into neutral. i did see the engine rpm near 5000 when i went into neutral. i engine was quiet and when the light changed i returned home with no problems. i left the car outside, fearing an incident in my garage. what would have happened on wet pavement or snow? i promptly contacted my honda dealer. after two days they have yet to reproduce this problem. they appear to have no answer. this is a low mileage car of less than 10,000 miles. i have had no problems with this car nor any of the others brought there. this is a great dealer. my family owns also owns hondas based on our excellent past history. >>> in summary: i no longer have any faith in this car's safety. why does such a dangerous fault have to be demonstrated by the dealer? do i have to have an accident before they will replace a sensor or some computer chip? ...

When driving the 2008 honda accord to reverse and then accelerate forward, the transmission is making a noise (producing a dull sound like thump). brought this car to the dealer and they claim it is a normal characteristic of a design. the noise is not normal when there's a noise coming from the transmission. i wrote and called the american honda and they said the same thing. i was told they will inform the design team and engineers about my complaint and that i should hear from them (i am skeptical). *tr

Leaking fluid-took to local dealer who indicated transmission leak & needed new transmission seal. dealer said they did not know where to order part or when they would have one. we found out by calling corporate 1/2/09 "warehouse shut down through the holidays until 1/5/09 & a case # was filed". called dealer 1/8 for status & was told they "had seal & working on car, possibly ready that evening or next day" (1/9). dealer called 1/9 & left msg that car not ready before 1/12. dealer called 1/12 to say they need to order a new transmission and could not say where they were going to get it. it is going on 18 days and counting and driving a rental since 12/31/08. *tr

Honda recall. my car for some reason was covered under the power transmission recall even though my car is experiencing the same problem and codes other 2008 honda accord were the same year. my oil is going faster then i can put it in. it doesn't last a whole month. i have no oil leaks in my car at all what so ever. its damaging my engine because i had no clue it was burning the oil that fast. it's not fair they only cover some 2008 honda accord. when they already were sued because if it.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. as she was driving 45 mph there was a grinding noise when shifting from second to third gear. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they found the third gear grind synco was worn out. the dealer informed her that this was a part of the automatic transmission and it will be repaired under the warranty. she also stated that she had brake failure as she depressed the brakes when they extended to the floor. the dealer had to replace the brake pads at her expense for $116. the manufacturer was not contacted in regards to any of these failures. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Transmission was leaking excessive transmissions fluid through the transmission block after only 1800 miles on a new 2008 honda accord. local dealer service department recommended transmission be replaced under warranty. honda usa customer service denied recommended transmission replacement. dealer then suggested customer contact honda usa customer service to get transmission replaced. honda technical service refused replacement and wanted a dye leak test over a one week period after acknowledging a wide spread concern with transmission leakage. customer refused one week test due to upcoming long distance trip and left vehicle with dealer to conduct dye test. dealer conducted dye test with only 60 miles (1 hour drive) to confirm leaking transmission block. transmission was then replaced but only after needless inconvenience to the customer. there appears to be no current technical service bulletin available regarding this issue? *tr

Car idles rough and stalls, check fuel cap message comes on.this was after they replaced alternator due to lights flickering and radio and fans going in and out.alternator did not help and now the idles is high and eratic, system that detects missing fuel cap is inop. when car comes to a stop the idle stops real hgigh and comes down as you sit at the light.the dealer says the owners maual is wrong about the way system works.i drove two identical ones and while the cars were still of poor quality, the idle was the same as before they messed with car.other issues include bad seat tracks, bad upulstry, paint on bumpers improperly finished. honda refuses to fix these issues. i am taking it under the lemon law and urge all others to do the same. *tr

Transmission/vcm constantly continues to shift. car cannot locate correct drive ratio. very prevalent when driving 60 mph on level grade and no pedal movement. however, the transmission and/or variable cylinder management constantly surging is noticeable at all speeds with no change in pedal force applied. also, when accelerating from a stop slowly and a sudden demand to increase speed, the transmission fails to downshift when the pedal is pushed to the floor and restricts the engine rpms. *tr

Transmission shifting is exceptionally harsh, especially at lower gears (2-3 and 3-4, and downshifting as well). when downshifting, car feels like someone has slammed on the brakes. car also feels like it is constantly hunting for the correct gear in the low 60s mph. this is probably the vcm. *tr

Transmission shifting is harsh and abrupt. when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd and 4th to 3rd, it feels like someone is literally slamming on the brakes. when upshifting at those gears, there are often prolonged delays. in addition, while cruising in the low 60s mph range, the transmission is constantly hunting for the correct gear. *tr

4-cyl engine shutdown at traffic light while idling. car would not restart, windows and moonroof would open but not close, shift lever would not go out of "park". by some miracle driver and car survived rush hour traffic at dusk with assistance from police officer. car towed to honda dealer who replaced 50 amp fuse (actually a multiple fuse) labeled "ig". dealer advised by honda to giggle wires to try to duplicate problem. problem did not reoccur and dealer returned car after 4 days. old part not available. i doubt that the fuse was defective and suspect problem will reoccur. 4300 miles on car, an ex. *tr

Vehicle pops out of third gear and acceleration is stopped abruptly due to this defect causing a significant chance of rear end crashes every time it occurs. vehicle is 2008 honda accord ex v6 6 speed manual transmission. this is a serious defect and fits the criteria for a safety recall on both concerns, i.e., "poses an risk to motor vehicle safety, and "may exist in a group of vehicles of the same design or manufacture, or items of equipment of the same type and manufacture". honda knew of this problem in 2007 civic manual transmissions and ignored the problem and continued to put the defective transmissions in the 2008 accords and civics. finally after a consumer demonstration in california and coverage by the local media, honda issued a honda service bulletin 08-020 that replaces the defective transmission parts. i believe this should be a manufacturer recall based on the number of complaints listed here where the consumer writes that they believe it is a serious safety concern and that they were almost involved in an accident because of the problem. too many near misses to ignore. also, because it fits the criteria listed on this website for a like defect in a "group of vehicles". i hope it doesn't take a death or serious injury to require honda to issue a recall for the defective models. we all know money is the determining factor and basis for their decision and if left to them, they would never issue one. i am thinking to burn my new honda accord which has less that 7000 miles on it and is currently at first team honda in chesapeake, virginia with a bad transmission. i am so disgusted with paying over 32 thousand dollars and getting a lemon and vehicle that will need to have the transmission removed already. honda doesn't care about the consumer anymore, only the $$$. help for a recall please ! i think i will construct a website to publicize this travesty and gain support for the burning of my honda. maybe something like hondaburn.com *tr
