Transmission slips in lower gears. also lurches forward upon acceleration in all gears. this lurching is often quite severe causing the car to swerve which is incredibly dangerous. *ak
Honda accord 99', transmission failure at 60,000 miles. other years (98) have had warranty extended due to design failure, but not the 99. 99 should be included! *jb
Honda has a warranty replacement on 2000/2001 models and not on the 1999 model. this is the same engine and transmission on the 2000 and 2001 model. they will not do anything for the 1999. what can nhtsa do? dt
Honda did help withthe out of warranty expense but i my repair combined exceeded almost 1600.00 between the independent repair garage and the honda dealer for a car that is less than three years old purchased new. no safety defect listed. *ak
While driving vehicle shut off. after taking vehicle to repair shop, technician told consumer that transmission went bad, and that was the reason vehicle shut off.*ak
When putting vehicle in reverse, the gears will grind, vehicle will not go backwards. vehicle is at dealer at this time.*ak *yh
While parking gear inadvertently jump out of drive into neutral and commenced to accelerate and force vehicle to hit a wall and fence. dealer/manufacturer were notified. *ak *yd
Transmission failed in my honda accord 99. with research i found alot of consumers that had the transmissions fail in their accord 99/2000/2001's. the 200+ transmission were under recall. i directly asked honda if the part (auto transmission) was the same in the 99 accord as the 2000 / 2001 which is under recall. though several honda dealerships i found out that the part (auto transmission) is exactly the same in a 99, 2000 or 2001 honda accord. the honda warranty team would not admit (again i directly asked) that the part was the same. thus, i am left with honda knowing that 99 accord's have known defective automatic transmissions that fail at road speed (erratic shifting). my transmission failed on an interstate at 60 mph road speed by shifting from drive to reverse. i almost got hit by an 18 wheeler that had to go off road to avoid my car. i guess when the fatalities grow big enough to warrant a class action suit honda will be forced to recall. *nlm
Poorly made transmission in 6th generation accords , honda should do something about it. *ak
Transmission will not shift properly into gear, it was slow in shifting. when ever this happens, engine would rev up. had been to the dealership 3 times for transmission problem. was informed by mechanic that a new transmission is required, even though was told its repairable. *ak *jb
Engine light comes on every 500-600 miles. schomp honda in denver said flush transmission. if that didn't work, there was a valve to replace in the transmission. if that didn't work, transmission replacement needed at $50,000. transmission has been flushed, and the valve replaced (by kool honda, mccook, ne). this time the light came on about 1000 miles. this started before mileage was 47,000 miles. we bought the car used, and suspect the problem was apparent when the prior owner traded it in. honda needs to respond to all the owners with transmission problems,by fixing/replacing the transmission at no cost to owners. *la
While driving consumer was unable to shift gears. the check engine light appeared on the dashboard. vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the transmission needed to be replaced, and replaced it. however, the problem recurred. *ak
The transmission is slipping on a 1999 honda accord 2 door. there is severe jerky motion between shifts. also while slowing down and trying to accelerate again the car lunges forward violently with what seems to be double gear shift. my family owns the 4 door version of the car also, which does not have such symptoms. out of 7 people i know who also owns the accord, 3 people have such problems. the problem persists to date. honda claims that since it does not occur with "many" of production cars, it will not issue a recall! this is outrageous! *ak
Transmission failed. nlm
Automatic transmission hesitation since day 1. when accelerating from a slow or stop position, the engine hesitates, the car shakes and makes rattling noise, then sometimes stalls. the engine is not up/downshifting properly and poses serious safety conc
Auto transmission started shifting hard within the first year and now jerks abruptly between first & second gear. reddell honda (murfreesboro, tn) has examined the car and recommended a new transmission. the service advisor also did not recommend traveling due to the risk of being stranded. accurate automotive's (lavergne, tn) gary gray, service advisor, stated that he has seen this problem alot with this car. i have an acquaintance with the same car (1998), who replaced the transmission year ago, only to have the beginnings of the problem again. *nm
We bought our used accord about a year ago for our daughter to go to college and not to long after we realize that the transmission was starting to shift very rough especially from the lower gears to the high ones..we changed the transmission fluid and do all the regular maintenance for the vehicle.. yet we have noticed that the problem has gotten worse.. now the transmission not only jerks really bad shifting up but it's worse going downwards.. sometimes now the reverse gear will not engage and we have to turn off the engine and turn it back on before it goes to reverse.. we took it to the dealer and they said that we have to replace the transmission and most probably the engine mounts.. $2500 to $3500 we call american honda and see if they will help and of course our factory warranty has run out so we are on our own.. according to some auto shops that we have talked to this the problem that these accords have... faulty transmission.. what is honda doing? nothing .. what are we going to do? shouldn't we file a class action law suit against honda for not fixing this problem. *tr
When vehicle is facing down hill , and you put in reverse it goes forward .i spoke to the service advisor he said it was normal.i personally do not think its normal .i have an `89 ford tempo as old as it is it does not roll downhill when in reverse and facing downhill.i have come close to hitting my garage door because of that. also when putting in gear in any kind of land level it cracks and makes noises. tires vibrate ,front ones also on the highway it strays to the right a lot . i`ve checked air pressure on tires to make sure that did not cause the pulling to the right, and it was not that .air pressure is lost a lot also ,every 2-3 weeks air in front tires goes down approximateley 4-6 pounds, and rears go down 2-3 puonds.i have to check air pressure on a weekly bases .( dot number: tire size: p195/65r15 )
