Dashboard has cracked significantly in two locations one of which is by the front passenger airbag. also, the interior and exterior door handles have peeled and cracked. specifically, the interior handles have peeled to the point of causing damage to the driver/passenger hands upon usage. *js

The chrome metal covering the inside door handles of my yukon has cracked and is separating from the handles. the sharp chrome metal injured my wife by slicing her finger as she exited the vehicle. my daughter previously ran her foot on the back seat handle and cut her foot. this is an obvious material defect and should be replaced. this is dangerous. *tr

The plastic dash cap which covers the electrical, instrument cluster and holds the airbag is cracked. currently there is only one crack approximately 4 inches long which is located over the instrument cluster hump. my concern is that the dash cap will continue to produce new cracks around the passenger air bag as other yukon owners have experienced. if the vehicle is involved in an accident the cracked brittle dash pad could shatter and impact and injure someone in the vehicle. *tr

I own a 2007 gmc yukon xl and the passenger and driver door chrome handle is peeling off and i got my finger cut as i tried to exit on the driver side door a couple of times . i just put tape around it but i think that it should be fixed it's a hazard and danger to have that happened. *tr

Last fall, 2010, i noticed that the interior chrome door handles were chipping. they chips were very sharp. i took it to the dealer they said that there was nothing they could except replace them at my expense. i was cut yesterday, 10/1/2011 on my handle. this is the nhtsa pe09044. *tr

2007 gmc yukon. interior door handles. chrome plating has separated from the top where handle is grabbed. handles are razor sharp and care is needed when opening door otherwise injury can and has occurred. *tr

Dashboard structural failure: vehicle dashboard is suffering from excessive structural failure leading to large lose pieces of plastic than can 1) interfere with airbag deployment, 2) fall off and interfere with brakes and accelerator pedals, 3) cause death and dismemberment in an accident due to excessive cracking and breakage under normal use conditions. this effects all 2007-2014 chevrolet and gmc light-duty trucks. so literally tens of millions of vehicles. gm has not issued a recall for this structural defect.

Sharp cracks appearing in dash next to passenger air bag and left rear top of the instrument panel. *tr

My 2007 gmc yukon's chrome interior door handles are peeling. a co-worker of mine and girlfriend were cut by the peeling plastic. both cuts were deeper than your average paper cut and was very painful. this was on the passenger door, then i was cut on the driver side weeks later. gmc would not replace as my mileage is out of warrant and they wanted to charge $340 to replace!! extremely costly and frustrating for a dangerous non-repair. *tr

The silver covering on the interior door handles of my 2007 yukon's handles are peeling and are very sharp at the seams. my entire family has cut ourselves several times since we have owned the vehicle. *tr

I have a 2007 gmc yukon and both inside door handles (front and passenger) have split at the upper seam of handle. this caused me to cut my hand on one occasion due to the driver side handle. i have since placed duct tape over both handles where the seams have split, so that nobody will get cut leaving the vehicle. vehicle is out of warranty, so i have not taken it to a dealer. *tr

I noticed an approximate 4'' crack on my dash between the windshield and steering wheel hump. i then noticed a similar crack emerging near the top left portion of the front passenger side air bag. i thought maybe the employees where i get my car wash were applying too much pressure. however, after looking online to buy a new dash, i found that i was among many gmc owners that have the same issue. i dont think it is a coincidence that we all have the same cracks, in the same location on the dash. also, the chrome plating on both my driver and front passenger inner door handles is peeling off. i heard that exposure to the sun may be a cause, however, my two front windows have had 5% tint on them since i bought it. also, i just got my vehicle back from the dealership because of check engine light issues. the problem is fixed for now, however, after researching online it seems like there are hundreds of gmc yukon owners experience very similar issues with their vehicle's engine. i keep reading about the "reduced engine power" and "service stabilitrak" warnings. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 gmc yukon. within the first week of purchasing the vehicle, the rear hatch light began illuminating. this caused the emergency lights to illuminate, the door ajar alarm to sound, and disabled all of the buttons on the remote and instrument panel. the vehicle had to be accessed manually. first, the computer codes were reset, but this did not correct the failure. the dealer stated that there was wiring failure and replaced the wiring; however, the failure continued. finally, the entire hatch was replaced and there had been no further occurrences. on november 6, 2007, the stable track was not driving properly and the driver's seat made a crunching noise whenever it was moved. the dealer cleared the electronic codes again and damaged the interior of the vehicle. on december 26, 2007, the hatch area was leaking and created puddles of water in the rear of the vehicle. the dealer stated that the seal was leaking and it was replaced and apoxied. the vehicle has to go back to the dealer because the seal has loosened. the current mileage was 13,380 and failure mileage was 459.

Front passenger interior door handle pulled to open door)had the painted chrome finish peeling at the top seam of the handle. the peeling finish cut several passengers while opening the door. cuts were similar to a paper cut but more severe. *ak

Chrome on drivers door handle has sharp edges and will cut your hand. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds during sunny road conditions, the gauges on the instrument panel were not visible due to poor illumination. also, the pillars on the driver side created blind spots on both sides of the vehicle. it was taken to a service dealer, who determined that they would research the problem to see if there was recall on the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified.

The 2007 gmc yukon (& chevrolet tahoe) have a significant safety issue / problem. the instrument panel gauges are very difficult to read in daytime (sunny) conditions. most of the time during daytime/sunny conditions you can not just glance at the instruments to read them. you have to divert your attention for 2 or more seconds to read even the speedometer (which is the easiest to read). all instruments have black faces with white markings which are legible day and night. the daytime visual recognition problem is caused by two conditions. 1) red pointers that do not contrast sufficiently with the black face, and 2) dash cowling shading/glare problems. the top left (oil pressure) and top right (voltmeter) gauges are almost impossible to read. the bottom right (coolant temp) is very difficult to read. the bottom left (fuel) is difficult to very difficult to read. the two large center gauges (tachometer and speedometer) are difficult to read. the time / attention required to read these gauges presents a safety hazard because you are forced to take your eyes off the road for far to long (or to keep repeating looks to check your speed / fuel status. i recently purchased a 2007 gmc yukon and made a road trip of 3000 miles. two drivers had similar visual recognition problems during daylight hours. i gave up even trying to read the other gauges. if you wear sunglasses you have to lift them to try to read the gauges. there are some things you can do (have to do) to lessen the visual recognition problem. 1) turn on the lights (provides minimal dash illumination), 2) close the sunroof shade (reduces glare), and 3) place you hand above your eyes as a shield (reduces glare). i have talked to the gm dealer to see if they could increase illumination on the dash lighting. (that would still mean i would have to turn on the lights during the day.) bottom line - they can't do anything - they can't re-engineer gm's product. *jb
