Recently reported SEAT BELTS problems on 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Rear seat belt is not retracting properly. slack remains in the seat belt when fastened. occupant has to manually feed the belt into the opening to allow the belt to tighten, but any time the occupant move, causing the belt to extend, there is slack introduced again, the seat belt ratchet will not retract the slack, and the belt does not remain firmly in place. this happens in all driving conditions, parked or moving.

Tl* the contact drove a 2014 gmc sierra 1500 company vehicle. while the contact was attempting to fasten the front driver's side seat belt, the lap belt cable from the floorboard fractured in two pieces. the contact called linwood chevrolet buick gmc (2007 state route 45 north, mayfield, ky 42066, (270) 228-2606) and attempted to schedule an appointment, but the dealer stated that they would call the contact back. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that they would extend the warranty to repair the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

The seatbelts in the rear seats do not fit children properly. my son is currently the age of 9 and is approximately 100 lbs. so he no longer can use a booster seat, however the seatbelt is still not placed accross his chest appropriately when riding in the vehicle. with recommendations to have children ride in the back seat,a s it is safer for them, it would be nice to have a sliding seatbelt retractor like the front seats passenger and driver. i am hopeful that when manufacturering an y new models this could be achieved to make our children safer as a passenger in a motor vehicle.

Driver seat belt locks unexpectantly unable any slack to be able to move to safely change lanes to verify no cars in blind spot

I temporarily had no control over the vehicle causing me to have an accident. while driving down a residential street approaching a stop sign intersection i merged into the center of st to pass a trashcan and in the process of returning to my correct position on the road i suddenly had no steering. panicking from the loss i pressed my brakes an attempt to bring vehicle to a stop but was unsuccessful because the tires began a slide once noticing the traction loss i proceeded to release brakes and reapply in hopes of gaining traction the brief relief from brakes caused the vehicle to regain traction and while i still have no control over steering, the vehicle jerks towards the right side of the road and the brakes being reapplied the vehicle continues to slide off pavement making contact with stop sign and telephone pole.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2014 gmc sierra 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v651000 (air bags, seat belts) and 16v209000 (seat belts). the dealer scheduled a repair, but when the contact arrived at the dealer, he was informed that the part was not available and the vehicle would need to be kept for 5 to 7 days. the contact would have to sign a waiver to release the vehicle. the dealer provided no accommodations for a loaner vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

I received a recall notice from gmc that the flexible steel cable that connects the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat (the "tensioner cable") can fatigue and separate over time as a result of occupant movement into the driver's seat. i received a second notice that the parts are now available to repair my vehicle. i scheduled an appointment accordingly and checked with the dealer prior to arrival. i have now been waiting for well over 2 hours and i just found out that the part is not in stock and the recall can not be fixed. i have attached the work order and my receipt which shows that the work was performed when in fact it has not been completed. i am now at risk and have no trust in the dealership service center.

Gm seat belt recall was performed but the dealer at gm's direction hacked the interior trim piece to correct defect. this is a different fix than they perform on the unsold models and is not acceptable or ethical on a truck that cost +30,000.00

This is in regards to safety recall 15822 (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm517394/rcsb-16v209-2391.pdf) for gm sierra 1500 trucks. the repair is extremely poor and requires the dealership to mutilate an interior piece of the vehicle by cutting it with a razor blade. i wouldn't have had this safety recall completed if i knew ahead of time how poorly gm would have made the repairs. please keep in mind, this experience is shared by everyone who has had this recall performed, and many people are opting out due to the poor handling by gm. also, to make things worse ... gm will properly repair their own vehicles if they are unsold, or on the dealer lot. instead of hacking up the interior, they replace the trim piece with a brand new part. this is done so that their new unsold vehicles don't have the heinously cut up interior piece that would obviously turn off a buyer. i believe gm's solution for new and currently owned trucks should be the same. current owners should not have to accept this extremely poor solution from gm. if you do not accept this poor solution because you do not want them to hack up your truck, they require you to decline the recall. gm needs to have an acceptable solution for current owners, like they have for their unsold trucks. gm forum posts discussing this recall: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/forum/186-2014-2015-2016-silverado-sierra-issues-troubleshooting-recallsservice-bulletins/ http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/189628-seat-belt-recall/page-4
