Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2008 GMC Sierra 1500

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 1500. the contact stated that there was a fracture on the passenger side dashboard along the air bag enclosure up to the windshield. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact was concerned of the location of the fracture and the fact that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Above the instrument panel and front left of the passenger air bag. if airbag goes off shards are going to fly at faces. safety hazard if the airbag was deployed and is not aesthetically pleasing making a fine gm vehicle look sloppy

Severely cracked dash. cracked in 5 places. worried what would happen if passenger airbag is ever deployed.

The dash board has random hair line cracks throughout that have recently shown up. the vehicle has never been in an accident

The panels over the rear wheels are both rusting through. bubbles on the paint as it rust to the surface. truck is not driven during winter snow months it stays in garage over the winter months. surprised it would rust through already. is there any body warranty for rust before 10 years?

Dashboard cracked in two places. the passenger side cracked on the portion covering the passenger air bag. i am worried that if inflated, the plastic shards will impale any passenger. also the dashboard cracked on the driver side above the instrument cluster. it is beginning to cave it.

Dashboard crashesd near front passanger airbag that may potentially allow moisture intrution into the passanger airbag inflator system

Frame at sway bar mount and transmission crossmember rusting away on both sides of truck

My dashboard has several cracks exposing the electrical components within the dash. these cracks are in various places across the entire dash. i purchased this vehicle brand new and it is currently in excellent condition (with the exception of the dash) i am concerned that if the air bag were to be deployed the plastic dashboard would explode and expose my passengers or myself to additional hazards within the vehicle. i am also concerned that the electrical system in my dash board is now exposed to additional hazards due to the additional exposure to the sun. i am filing this incident with the hopes that it will help a recall to be issued. i noticed the first small crack in 2011. i have kept an eye on it over the years and as of today, there are exposed openings in the dash in several places. until today, i thought that i might have just been unlucky, however after doing some research online, it is apparent that i am not alone, and this should be recalled under a manufacturers defect. thank you for taking the time to file this report on my behalf. feel free to email me with additional information as needed. best regards. *tr

The paint is peeling off the truck at the hood and top of the truck. the hood peeled first 2015. the top of the truck may, 2016

Dashboard is cracked in multiple places. one crack is along the passenger airbag and the second is along the drivers side in front of the instrument gluster. the first crack appeared as i was leaving my driveway and the other was while driving down the street. i am worried that the airbag crack could cause sharp pieces of the dash to project in the case of a deployment of the airbag.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra 1500. the contact stated that the dashboard had a crack from the dashboard to the air bags. the dealer and manufacturer stated that the contact was liable for the repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 138,197.

Dash pad cracks in both upper corners around passenger side airbag, truck was parked, noticed cracks in morning

Failure of underbody/frame rust undercoating. the undercoating has completely flaked off the frame of my truck with 90k miles. i am the only owner of this vehicle which has been garaged since day one. the vehicle is also rusting thru from the underside of the hood. i have contacted gmc about this issue both in person & on the phone. they have denied any liability in this matter.

I have a large section of my dash pad broken on the drivers side. i also have a crack on the passenger side. this was not caused from abuse but from inferior materials. it appeared sometime in 2015 with about 130,000 miles on it. i have owned it since new. my concern is in the event of a crash, along with the dangerous takata airbags that i'm still waiting to be replaced, will plastic be sent through the air from airbag deployment?, or will we wait for someone to be injured or killed to get gm to resolve this situation.by the way gm has sent me a recall notice and told me they are waiting on parts. that has been over 3 months ago. i also have another truck for airbag recall.just for the record my wifes 2007 chevy silverado 1500 received a crack in the dash at about 80,000 miles. this is an epidemic but i sure gm will escape again just like in the past. it takes one small fragment in the right place such as an eye to change someones life forever. just think if it was someone you loved sitting in that truck.

Dash is cracking in multiple locations. my truck is hardly in the sun and i always use a sun shade in the windshield. there are several cracks around the dash and i am worried this will have an impact on the air bag systems. this is unacceptable from gmc. *tr

Power door lock failed on driver door. you can not open door with out lifting hand latch. this is very dangerous-- meaning you can not open door by door handle-- there is no override like provided on other vehicles. other door failed 2 months later. truck locks and unlocks doors when moving shifter from park to drive, there is no program option to delete this option. so you lock and unlock doors every time you shift truck transmission to park or in drive. this is not needed in my case, since you can manually do same. this is manufacture defect and should be recalled. *tr

Two large cracks on dashboard. one is above instrument cluster hump and it's approximately 5" in length. the other is just above passenger side airbag and that one is approximately 3" in length. *tr

At 35k the drivers side front door actuator failed and was replaced under warranty. at 40k the passenger side door actuator failed. i was told this is a common problem with this vehicle due to defective parts used by gmc. with no ability to open or close the passenger door from the drivers control, a potential safety issue exists. e.g. unable to prevent an intruder from entering the car at a stop light, or allow a scared child to exit after an accident. *tr

Dash board crash all over and by the air bag

Bought the truck new in 2008 .after a year to 1 1/2 developed crack in dash in corner by airbag. had dash replaced under warranty. dash cracked again within 1 1/2 was out of warranty then and they wanted me to pay a percentage. i refused to pay for there defect

Approx 26,000 miles. the chrome handles on the doors, 2 have come loose. i called the chevy/gmc dealer and was told it would be a cost of approx. $125 per door to fix.
