Ah, the humble 2015 GMC Sierra. The kind of vehicle that doesn't just ask to be driven, it demands it. And yet, even this beast can sometimes face the embarrassment of a burned-out headlight bulb. But fret not, for today, we're going to delve into the art of headlight bulb replacement. Hold on to your hats; it's about to get illuminating!
1. Tools and Preparation
Begin your quest armed with an 8mm socket on a long extension and a quarter-inch ratchet. But if you fancy yourself as more of a Phillips screwdriver kind of person, who am I to stop you? Just be careful about not stripping anything.
2. Dive In:

Start with the corner bolts near the air cleaner box. Get them loose, but also get a bit intimate with that last tricky one, it's why you have that long extension after all.
3. Unleash the Air Cleaner Box:

Now that you've made short work of those bolts, unhitch the clamp. Do inspect the air cleaner. And if it's seen better days, chuck it. Show it the door!
4. The Pathway to the Light:

The rubber grommets hold a pan in place, wrestle it out of the way, and there lies the golden gateway to your bulb.
5. Minor Interlude with Trim Buttons:

Ah, these pesky things. Pop the centre out with a small screwdriver and let the whole grommet come out. If you're feeling generous, treat yourself to a stash of these from eBay. Cheap, efficient, and no one will ever know they aren’t GM branded.
6. The Main Event:

Unscrew the cap that hides the bulb. Turn it counterclockwise, and voila! Remove the old bulb. Now remember, as tempting as it may be, DO NOT touch the bulb with your fingers. Oils from our skin are bulb enemies. Clip out the old and embrace the new. Especially if you've opted for those fancy bluish tint bulbs. Slide it in vertically and give it a firm but gentle twist. Test it, secure it.
7. Finishing Touches:

Replace the dust cover and those trim buttons. Always ensure they're in the right position, compressible and all. Slide the air cleaner box back in. Line it up neatly with the grommets and make sure it fits like a glove.
8. The Other Side
This isn’t your first rodeo now. The driver's side is just as accessible. Simply repeat. Perhaps with a bit more swagger this time.
There you have it! In no time at all, you've managed to replace the headlight bulb of your GMC Sierra. If you've managed without screaming at inanimate objects or threatening to throw your ratchet into the abyss, consider it a job well done.
