We have classified the 15 complaints from 2000 Ford Taurus about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
Car fails to accelerate at times. gas pedal is depressed but engine does not seem to be getting fuel. after repeated attempts -- hitting accelerator -- engine will suddenly "catch" and lurch forward. seems to be a throttle problem, but ford dealer will not address. even though car falls in recall range for 2000-2003 tauruses with "sticky" throttles (recall was issued in 2013), dealer says it is "not on recall list." over 450,000 vehicles are -- but apparently mine is not one of them. seems like a very dangerous situation to me. you're driving in a 55 mph zone an suddenly your car slows to 20 mph no matter how hard you press the gas pedal. then after 20 seconds it suddenly takes off? not good. *tr

Dt: consumer has 2000 ford taurus. fuel pump died in mid march. consumer has been in contact with ford for two weeks. consumer contacted dealer before burning ethanol, and was told that as long as the vehicle was marked fuel flexible she could burn ethanol. burning ethanol was the reason the consumer believed the fuel pump failed. the emission control lights came on and then the vehicle began to surge and die. the consumer said this happened in her driveway. it could have been a real safety issue. the vehicle was serviced for emission light on may 20th. *ak the sticker on the inner door of the gas tank read use ethanol or unleaded fuel only. the consumer needed a new fuel pump because it was not holding pressure. *sc the consumer was told the vehicle was not a flex fuel vehicle and that it had been mis-labeled and the vehicle was only to have unleaded fuel not ethanol. *jb
Intake manifold in my ford taurus 2000 sel exploded.vehicle: fafp56s2yg125733. i had this happen to me yesterday with my 2000 ford taurus se. it has 25,000 miles on it. i had taken it to the dealership for some service last week (30th dec) and then had this happen yesterday when i started the car in my garage. we had been driving the car in the meanwhile. i don?t think it is related to the service (they did an oil change and replaced the air filter in addition to other things unrelated to the engine). there was a loud noise immediately after i started the car. it was scary enough that i was ducking behind the steering wheel with my hands covering my head. i thought something had fallen on the car from the garage shelves. then i saw smoke coming from under the hood. i popped up the hood and found that the intake manifold had blown open completely. i called up ford to see if there were any reported cases of this and was told that there was none. i got the car towed to the dealership and they are looking into it as i write this. i have pictures of the manifold and i have asked the dealership not to start any work before they inform me in a written report what the problem is. i have already found 3 other cases of this on the internet, 2 of which are 2000 taurus and sable and other one a mazda with the same engine as mine. i think two of them have already filed a complaint with your office. i would like to know how this problem will be addressed. *ak
Vehicle intake manifold exploded resulting in near fire which also damaged the emission valve. *ts the consumer had difficulty starting the vehicle and on the second try is when the explosion was heard. the consumer was told when the intake manifold exploded it shattered into large fragments and scattered through out the engine, 2 weeks later the emissions light illuminated. the consumer tool the vehicle to the dealer and upon examination it was discovered the emissions valve was damaged due to the explosion or was the origin of the problem which may have caused the intake manifold to fail. *jb
Consumer noticed anti freeze in driveway. upon further inspection noticed a crack in the fuel tank. when the part was ordered through the dealership consumer was informed that this was a common failure part.*ak
First our car engine light came on and started blinking. we had to have it towed in to an auto repair shop and have it checked out. while they were checking out the car, they found a problem with the fuel rail pressure range and performance and the fuel level sensor ckt fault. the car also showed that it needed a major servicing. two months after the car was serviced, i was heading home. on a busy hwy, when all of a sudden my car starts acting like it is out of gas. my gas hand said the car still had a 1/4 tank of gas. so i didn't know what was going on. well i managed to get to a gas station and found out that i was indeed out of gas. the gas hand didn't show that of neither did the gas light come on to tell me i was running low. after i filled up the car, my engine light came on again. so i called the auto repair shop i took the car to. i didn't know if it was something they did. come to find out when they ran the check on the car it was a recall they had found wrong with my car. i mentioned earlier what the problem was called it is in the third sentence. the repair man ran a check to see if it was a recall with my vehicle and found out that it was. in aug. 2000 ford motor co. sent out a service recall bulletin to all ford dealers, that there was a emissions recall 00e10 - certain 2000 model year taurus flex fuel vehicles- fuel delivery module replacement. i contacted ford about fixing this problem and they refused to do so. they told me that it was already done but i still have the problems and they can't give me the proof that it was fixed. so in my eyes until i see proof and until my car is fixed i don't believe them. i don't like having to drive my car around when at any moment i may run out of gas because i forgot to keep a check on my mileage. something i should not have to do in the first place since that is what gas hands are for. i also have two young children and i baby sit another whom i am ...

The brake system in our car has not performed properly on wet roads many times. on jan 21st, 2002 and mar 13th, 2002, we asked muzi ford to fix this problem. they could not find the problem. they reported, it is common to confuse abs activation with difficulty stopping". in fact, our car is not equipped with abs. on the morning of jan 17th, 2003, my husband was driving in the slow lane of i-95; the car in front of our car came to a sudden stop. he immediately braked. he was still far away, and the speed was only 45-50 mph, the road was wet and our cars brake system did not work properly and it hit the front car. there are many problems with our car. the emergency brake on/off has been adjusted, the transmission fluid and both front axle seal have leaked twice; steeling fluid has leaked once, the brake light, gas cap assembly and solenoid canister have been replace, and the wiper motor park switch has been recalled. please help us to solve the brake system problem with ford motor company.*jb note: did not count as crash for rq03008 since crash was not due to brake light issue.

Initially noticed a fuel odor at the beginning of nov. 2000. i didn't know what it was. in february, i mentioned my sleepiness and headaches when driving the car for long lengths of time to my employer and they thought there might be a co problem. we placed a co tube in car and it was dirty within 72 hours. went to local ford dealership (hiller) and they had 2 other 2000 ford taurus in shop with same problem. dealer wasn't exactly sure what problem was with car. ford replaced the intake manifold gaskets and said that would take care of problem. still was sleepy and nauseous/headachy. ford dealer said that ford will not do any more for me. put new co tube on center vent and that too became dirty. dealership still wouldn't do anything and took tube as evidence. i went out and bought co meter from hardware store and the reading went over 300 and alarm sounded. called dealer on mon 03/26/01 and they would not talk to me and refuse to give me name/number of district manager. i am worried that if nothing is done, that myself or the next owner could cause and accident or worse, be killedfrom falling asleep at the wheel.*ak

This vehicle has been a nightmare since we bought it from team ford in june. the car has been to the dealer three times for two days per incident and the same problems continue while they gradually discover more problems each time. a car with 5200 miles on it should not need the varied and unique combination of replacements our car has required. the car makes a rotational grinding noise while at freeway speeds, when going over bumps or taking an involved turn the car makes a pop/crack noise from left/front of car. the car has stalled three times during freeway and city driving. the driver's side window creaks and shudders when being put up or down. the car hesitates when started in 80 degree weather and comes close to stalling when initially putting into gear. now and then car makes lunging motion and noise when put in drive or reverse. i could go on and on...i am reporting defects and problems to better business bureau and the nevada attorney general's office. please help!
I have filed a lemon law complaint with the attorney general in texas. no safety defect listed in summary. *ak
