Got in my car this morning and started it and got codes like crazy. also power steering isn't working ford fusion steering assist fault service required

While driving the car on both the highway and on city streets the steering locked and the power assist quit. the mil traction control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. the mil steering assist control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. in both driving instances the steering wheel was being turned from moderate (interstate highway speed) turning to sharp turning (city street speed). in both instances i was able to avoid hitting close, surrounding vehicles and in the case of the city occurrence, pedestrians. in both instances i pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and shut off the engine and accessories. i waited about a minute and performed an engine re-start. the mil's were not lit and the power steering assist returned. in both instances the same condition appeared about 20 minutes later, and a engine stop/re-start had to be performed. i have included photos of the dashboard information center. this is a 2016 fusion with 65,000 miles and i believe there is an electrical problem with the steering rack.

Vehicle had a total loss of power steering while in motion on city street. multiple warning lights came on including power steering assist fault and advance trac fault. loss of power steering caused vehicle to become difficult to control.

My car has apparently been under a recall from ford regarding the steering wheel since march of 2018. i have taken it to crain ford to be serviced multiple times since 2018 and was never told about the recall. i had to have it towed to crain on thursday night after an issue with the gear shift. upon doing some research on the nhtsa website on friday, i found that my car is now under 2 different recalls. i was told friday that my car would be serviced first thing monday morning and i would be called and updated on the situation. i also was not offered a loaner car, and upon asking if i could obtain one, was told that they were completely out. i have since had to call them twice this morning, and was put on hold in the excess of 10 minutes each time. i am currently waiting on a call back to determine what time i will be able to go pick up my car, if i can at all, today. i have been without a vehicle all weekend. i am currently having to miss work because i do not have means of transportation to get there. i am very unsatisfied with ford, and crain ford of little rock.

Steering wheel rotates left to right about 30 degrees at low speeds up to about 40 mph. does this on acceleration and braking, on any surface. this fault takes place all of the time it is being driven.

Steering stopped working and became very stiff making it nearly impossible to move the steering wheel. nearly caused a fatal accident. a light came on stating "steering assist fault service required". this appears to be a known issue ad was part of a recall by ford in previous years but have no recall has been issued for the 2016 year model. the vehicle was on a county road when it occurred. normal driving when the steering went out. thankfully traffic was light.

Steering will stop working.

Driving on highway 60 miles warning lights come on check steering traction . then the steering wheel tightened up in the middle of me driving.

My wife was driving the car in the rain and hit a small puddle. shortly afterwards the steering became very difficult. this has happened before but thought this issue was fixed as it has not happened in some time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while driving approximately 15 mph, the power steering seized without warning. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to a nearby parking lot. the vehicle was towed to uftring ford (500 fairlane drive, east peoria, illinois 61611, (888) 284-1397) where it was diagnosed that the chip in the electronic power steering assist failed. the dealer repaired the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

When i started the car multiple alarms sounded and the display showed the following errors: steering assist fault service required, service advancetrac, pre-collission assist not available, hill start assist not available. the car has 13514.1 miles on the odometer at the time of this occurrence. the car had been driven less than 10 miles earlier in the day but had been parked with the engine off for nearly 8 hours. i did not attempt to drive the vehicle due to the difficult, if not impossible, chore of turning the steering wheel. i shut the vehicle off and restarted it several times attempting to see if the faults would clear on their own. no luck.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while making a left turn down a hill, the steering failed and a loud abnormal noise was heard. also, when braking, the vehicle would slowly decelerate and remain at 0.8 rpm. furthermore, the abs and traction control warning indicators illuminated. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 75,104.

Stranded because shifter cable broke. i had to drive a rental car home from ohio.i was able to bypass the shifter cable to get home and not take the car out of gear. i had kids in the car and the weather was 103 degrees. the car would not go into gear for me to start and put the air on. kids were really hot and i have to get the car towed to a dealer. now the dealership is telling me that i have to pay to have the vehicle repaired until the revised parts come in. i should not have to pay for this. car wont start, because the car doesnt know it is in park.

When driving my check engine light randomly turns on, on the freeway, street, turning, etc. and then it says check manual. the car starts shaking and you can't accelerate. in order to get where i need to be i have to pull over constantly and restart the car. i got it checked at auto zone and it said it was the throttle body actuator stuck in the open position. oh and becomes more difficult to steer the vehicle when the error pops up.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle decelerated and an abnormal noise was heard. upon inspection, the contact found that the front driver's side axle had detached from the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to gaudin ford (6625 w roy horn way, las vegas, nevada), but the diagnostic results were not disclosed. the contact attributed the failure to the dealer's repair of nhtsa campaign number: 18v167000 (steering). the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

Car started throwing me forward when u accelerated had a small fender bender .. it would have a hard kick as if someone hit me from behind . then it stop working wouldn't go into drive after it was in park it went in reverse almost hit someone behind me .. then ford roadside never showed up . ford lost my car no one could find it ... tow company never took it to the dealer and when i got there for my rental the upervisor laughed and dismissed my concerns even after i was in tears from the trama if the day and night prior. i was promised a rental so i could go to work and was denied it bc the car hadn't arrived . meanwhile roadside assistance couldn't find where my car was . online it said it was picked up and taken to dealer .. i was so frustrated and disappointed with the chaos . no one was helping to resolve the issue and i was late to work and my child's car seat was in the lost car . i was in tears and panic because of the stress of it all. i had to ask the gm at jim tidwell to help with a rental and was being charged 380$ for 1 day rental . i was still under warranty since car is new . i am so disappointed in the insensitive and dismissive behavior by all the men who i spoke to . it's been 3 weeks and i know nothing besides car finally arrive after being impounded in south atlanta. i do not feel safe in the car nor do u want to continue as a customer with ford.

I purchased 2 federal formosa fd2 tires 235/50r17 96w. they were installed in the rear of my car. they were balanced, and inflated to auto manufacturer instructions. when driving the vehicle on a hwy or fwy above approximately 50 mph the car stability control sensor triggers. the car's rear wobbles back and forth and feels very insecure. did some research and several people complain that the sidewalls are too weak causing the vehicles to wobble. since i drive my children in my car, i feel very concerned that the tire may come off the rim or explode due to this condition. who can i take these tires to so they can be rated or inspected?

Started the car and received a message that the power steering assist stopped working. costing me almost $3000 to get it fixed.

While driving through a subdivion, we came upon a sharp curb to the left. when we tried to turn the steering wheel to the left it would not move. the breaks were applied we slid off the road and hit a parked car. deploying all air bags.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. the contact was not notified of nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v167000 (steering) and 18v471000 (power train) until after the vehicle was involved in a crash. the contact stated that there was a sudden loss of direction with the steering wheel while driving approximately 45 mph. as a result, the contact lost control and crashed into a tree. the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed; however, the driver sustained injuries to the face, left shoulder, and forehead. medical attention was required. the vehicle was towed to a yard and then to manheim baltimore-washington ford (7120 dorsey run rd, elkridge, md 21075, 1-(800) 533-2923) so it could be diagnosed by the insurance company or the manufacturer. the vehicle was extensively damaged. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

Takata recall, my airbag light keeps going off and issuing warning stating my airbag doesnt work

Steering wheel had to be replaced at 68k miles, due to having been made of inferior materials, became a hazard in 3 days and was advised to not drive the vehicle due to the fact that the steering wheel could fail in emergency driving situations.

This vehicle is at 48800 miles and i started to receive the following warnings/errors on my dashboard when the problems began: "hill hold assist not available", "service advancetrack", abs fault and airbag failure sign lights remain while i was driving the car. after these warnings i lost power steering assist and pulled over and restarted the car. however the warning signs did not clear and i lost abs, traction control and airbags. i have contacted with a ford dealer to diagnose the problem. error codes they got from the car were c0031 and u0401. the first one is related to a short wire in the abs wheel speed sensor at the driver side front wheel and this part was replaced at the dealer. however, after replacement all the mentioned warnings/errors remain and u0401 code remained. dealer does not know whether these are just from communication error from the computer or these parts are actually defective. i am not able to use the car right now. in any case, all of the affected systems are not related with drivers driving habits, storage conditions and other things related to the usage of the car and seems like a manufacturing problem, even if it is a communication error or wiring problem. and the affected components are vital so if there is a production error, this should be resolved as soon as possible.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford fusion. while driving approximately 35 mph and attempting to make a turn, the steering wheel seized. the steering power assist indicator illuminated along with other indicators on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to hilltop ford (3280 auto plaza, richmond, ca 94806, 510-222-4444) where it was diagnosed that the electronic steering assist computer needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure was not repaired. the failure mileage was 68,609.

One afternoon while getting into my vehicle to drive to work, i turned the car on and went to drive and noticed that the steering wheel was slightly loose. over the course of the week the problem worsened and i contacted the dealer. i also did some online research and there appears to be a problem with vehicle of this model. the steering wheel continues to gradually loosen up.

Got in my vehicle to drive it one day and my steering wheel was very loose. it wobbled on the column. had to take it into a dealership. when they looked at it said the bolt was loose enough to unscrew with your hand.

Steering wheel is coming loose and feels like its about to fall off.

I was driving in a parking lot in scranton pa and the steering wheel came so lose that it almost came right off. it scared me to the point were i did not want to drive my car. something has to done about this because i did some digging and found out that i'm not the first one this happened to. this has been a on going problem in ford fusions since 2014. if this keeps up more people will be hurt or killed.

My steering wheel became unhinged on its own and it became very loose. the ford dealership claimed it was from pulling on the steering wheel, but that cannot be the case. i first noticed it driving into work and the steering wheel all of a sudden went left to right rather quickly. i didn't lose control of the car, but i believe that was the moment the steering wheel got loose. then as i was starting to leave work that afternoon, the steering wheel just sagged down and made it difficult to drive. i have documents of the invoice from ford. i really feel like this should have been covered under warranty. *bf *tr

Open investigation on steering detaching

Read a news article that said my steering wheel may come loose and that i should stop driving it immediately

Tamara recall

I feel the floorboard moving under my foot every time i turn the wheel. took it in and they said that it doesnt do it. thats because they must have bent it back. it now does it but barely feel it anymore. now after reading this makes me wonder if my car is safe anymore! guessing on the date with ford of gresham

The steering wheel came loose. i was able to turn, tilt, rotate, etc on multiple axis (left and right as normal, diagonal, up and down, forward and backward) up to one inch before resistance was met. the motion occurred in the upper part of the steering column, only affecting the steering wheel. i was still able to turn the car, as i could feel the lower part of the steering column respond in the floor. the steering wheels increased movement occurred regardless of driving or stationary status. i have attached the invoice from the mechanic. it shows that the nut holding the steering wheel to the column, which is behind the airbag assembly, had a come loose.
