Air bag sensor came on and will not go off. it isn't working properly. the airbag sensor light comes on and stays on, regardless if there is a person in the seat or not. passenger air bag seems to be showing off all the time. i'm concerned that they aren't working properly.
There has been an incomplete safety recall concern for my 2016 for fusion since may . i was notified in may of an issue in which transmission gear shifters could possibly malfunction and cause gears not to shift properly. today i hopped into my car and my car is completely stuck in park and will not shift gears. the car will not move. i can move the knob but nothing happens. i expect this issue to be handled for me with no out of pocket costs due to the fact that it was already a know issue the ford has failed to rectify.
I drive a 2016 ford fusion se awd with the 2.0l ecoboost/gtdi motor. i was at a gas station refueling my vehicle, with the 87 octane fuel the oem calls for on the vehicle. i was about 1/4 tank before refueling and i filled my tank until full. upon starting my car, i always turn the key right before ignition and wait for the fuel pumps to draw gas to the motor, then start it. started seemingly fine, however, while i was resetting my mileage trip counters, i noticed, and felt my rpm's drop down into the 300-400 area and my motor shook my car. i kind of was surprised as my car had never done this, so i figured maybe it was just an engine stutter. but then upon waiting a few more seconds, it did it again, 4 more times and felt like my motor was ready to stall out. i was still parked/stationary beside a gas pump so i put the car in drive to go park myself in an actual spot so i wasn't in the way of other vehicles. i kept my car running in park to see if the rpm's would drop again, but upon waiting five minutes, it did not. the rpm's were a bit wobbly though on the tachometer but did not significantly drop. no lights on the dash came on. i wasn't taking any chances, i immediately called the dealership to have my car serviced. turns out, my canister purge valve was stuck in the open position. sounds all too familiar, accounting that ford issued a recall for the exact same issue with many ford focus models, with the exact same motor. this is a serious issue that can result in crash/injury or even death. no light came on for me and i only caught it because i was superstitious enough to bring it in regardless. this should be investigated, it is literally the same issue and i'm baffled as to how his hasn't been made into a recall by now. i know i'm not the only one who has faced this issue, so please, i ask for this to be investigated and deemed a recall as it's a big issue.
I have a 2012 ford focus and as you know a 2016 fusion as well . shortly after i purchased my focus i received a recall for the purge valve a couple weeks ago my check engin light came on and now it's doing the same dying at stop lights and even on more then one occasion either dying while driving or one last night doing 75 mph on freeway in the fast lane with no shoulder and heavy traffic i called ford coprportat and they said there were no realls for this vehicle, i just passed 60,000 miles and not my warranty is up.
I have a 2016 ford fusion that is under a recall but my vin number is not. i was backing my car in to parking space i went to change gears to drive and it went into neutral and now my car is stuck in neutral on the dash the transmission is actually in neutral, but the gear shifter is in park. now it will not move from park at all and the transmission is still in neutral and i had to apply the the emergency brake i can physically turn my ignition off and remove the key. i had no warning or anything on my dashboard.
The car said it was in park and the backup camera was on and it broke the shifter cable
I was getting ready to leave my place of employment in the parking lot and i tried to put my car in drive but the gear shift was not registering. gear shift inside the car said drive but my car was still in park. later found out after i did some inspecting that the shift cable bushing had pop off, and that's why i wasn't able to move my car
Last week i pulled into work put my car into park let up on the brake and the car kept moving forward. i then pushed on the brakes again thinking i did something wrong looked down car was still in park. let off the brakes again and the car continued to move forward. i had to have the car towed to a shop where they found that a piece on the shifter linkage had broke but it was part of a full assembly. therefore with labor and the part it was almost $500 to repair. my concern was i almost hit our company fence! i have poured through other recalls and came across this same issue. but you continue to say that my car was not effected in the recall.
When driving my vehicle it will shake and stall and then cut off without warning and i'll have to put it in park and then it will start right back up. it's very dangerous especially since it doesn't warn you. it happens when you're driving anywhere, on highway or street.
When attempting to start car, it clicks but will not start. i had road side assistance boot battery and got the car to start, i took the car to auto zone to test battery they said battery is good. when i attempt to turn off the car and put the car in park i can remove the keys from ignition and open the door but the car never actually powers completely off, the dash board lights are still on and my car charger is still working . after several attempts of starting my car and shifting to park it finally does power all the way off.
'takata recall' car was stationary i tried putting car into drive and the shifter moved but transmission stayed in reverse.
While attempting to pull off after starting my car (vehicle stationary). the gear shift would read park on the dash and the gear shift would not change regardless of me moving it. after calling my mechanic the inspection showed the bushing came off. i received a letter from ford a few days before about the potential warning of the bushing possibly deteriorating. i have spoken with multiple ford reps and have been unable to get an appointment after being told that with my car being effected now, my process of being seen would be expedited. i was also told about having received compensation for a rental or loaner car while my car is unable to drive. i think ford is giving me the run around until they can find a solution but that does not change the fact that i have been effected today. richmond ford lincoln refused to service me and take my case number while belittling corporate the entire way. i also received the incorrect name from one employee. this recall process has been excruciating and as a ford consumer this being my second ford. i am debating if the company even values me, i definitely can't tell after continually asking for an update. the last representative i spoke with said it isn't his department and someone would reach out to me. he said that the day before. i don't know what my next steps are but ford is not assisting during this recall situation.
When driving on city streets, the ford fusion jerks hard and sputters when it changes gears (automatic transmission). when accelerating on the highway the vehicle will jerk hard upon pressing down on the gas pedal. during deceleration, when exiting the highway, from speeds of 70 mph to 35 mph, the vehicle will also sputter and jerk from the gears changing. the vehicle was taken in to a ford motor company service department and no repairs were conducted due to an "inability of the technician to replicate the symptoms of the car."
My car has apparently been under a recall from ford regarding the steering wheel since march of 2018. i have taken it to crain ford to be serviced multiple times since 2018 and was never told about the recall. i had to have it towed to crain on thursday night after an issue with the gear shift. upon doing some research on the nhtsa website on friday, i found that my car is now under 2 different recalls. i was told friday that my car would be serviced first thing monday morning and i would be called and updated on the situation. i also was not offered a loaner car, and upon asking if i could obtain one, was told that they were completely out. i have since had to call them twice this morning, and was put on hold in the excess of 10 minutes each time. i am currently waiting on a call back to determine what time i will be able to go pick up my car, if i can at all, today. i have been without a vehicle all weekend. i am currently having to miss work because i do not have means of transportation to get there. i am very unsatisfied with ford, and crain ford of little rock.
Takata recall, when stationary and shifting from park to drive it is very harsh and grinds (it sounds like metal on metal),, then from reverse to drive it grinds even more.
On monday after i started the engine trying to drive the car the shifter getting out of control and the couldn't move.
Car does not move when shifted to 'd' drive. transmission ticks. then the car off and back on, car drives for a moment then just stops
Bushing in the transmission shifter cable
My gear shift knob would not slide into the correct gear...it would be in park placement, yet still in drive or vice versa..it would be in reverse but actually in nuetral...this has been listed as a recall since may 13, 2019 and ford still has not come up with a remedy or a fix...its a bushing that needs to be changed out...
My vehicle was stationary and when i decided to switch gear into drive i realized it would go into gear correctly i didn't know what else to do so i got my car towed to get out of a privately owned parking lot. i looked up to see if there was a recall i didn't know about and it's so crazy because the recall just announced a few days ago.
While driving to work my engine light came on and then the loud vibration/horn type sound ensued. it sounds like it's coming from the gas tank.
I have just recently purchased my 2016 ford fusion awd vehicle and the check engine light has come on. i had a professional scanner run the code and it has to do with faulty emission sensors near the gas tank, which i have heard are common for these vehicles. no recall means i'm out $300 after just purchasing a brand new "used" vehicle.
Put the vehicle in park and it proceeded to continue to drive. had to use the emergency break to stop car from moving. after that the car would not start and it was towed to dealer. it should be noted my car was at the dealer for months for the same car and they stated the problem was fixed.
Vehicle was reflecting in park on the shifter, but the car was still in drive and rolling while in a fast food drive thru. the shifter got locked eventually in park but car was still moving. had it towed and then car wouldn't start due to shifter being locked. bushings around transmission shifter were broken. on second occassion went to start car and would not start due to bushings on transmission being broken. manufacturer recall 18s20 nhtsa recall # 18v471. ford has refused to reimburse me or fix this issue. it has cost over $300 in unplanned expenses as well as safety issues. can provide documentation upon request
2016 ford fusion es stalls out during driving does not matter if vehicle is stationary or in motion stalls have occurred in parking lots highways and roads this problem occurs at random times you must stop vehicle put in park and restart
After turning the car on and starting to drive, the car randomly will start to lose power. the car will then just stop moving. the car ignition will still be in the on position and in drive gear. it doesn't do it all the time randomly throughout the day. it sometimes will have cut the power off to preserve power and then cut off after the car starts to slow down.
All off a sudden, it will take off then. i have to stop and reset all the safety issues
While on a hill i came to a stop and put my car into the park position. my car strated to roll down hill after i put the car in park. i could not remove the key or move the shift out of park. i had to engage the emergency break to stop the car from rolling. i had to call for a tow and the after my mechanic looked for the problem he found that the shift linkage bushing was missing and the cable had disengaged. after calling the ford motor company they said there is a recall for this problem (recall # 18s20) but my car is not on the list for repair. the recall is for 2013-2016 ford fusion se which my car is in this group.
Takata recall: my ignition key switch was broke making it to where i could remove my key with the car running finally one day my ignition switch locked up costing me $1023.64 because i was forced to buy 2 keys through ford which where $250.00 an piece then the ignition part being $30.00 the rest was in labor. i was told there was no recall on the part and also told the dealer wasn't responsible for a part that was broke when they sold me the vehicle to begin with. the vehicle thankfully had this issue when i was at a gas station and car not running this issue could have been much worse for me and those around me if i was going somewhere.
Backed out of driveway on a main road and put car in drive but it kept rolling backwards put my foot on the brake and put it in park but it still rolled back after several tries to change gears and it did not come out of reverse i put the car in park and cut it off and it would not crank. after having it checked i learned that the transmission gear shift cable had come off causing the car not to change gears
The bushing that attaches to the shifter cable broke from the transmission, which made my car appear to be in park, however, it was not. i was pumping gas, when i was done, i turned my car on and went to take it out of park and it would not move, showing my car was in another gear, which caused my car to roll forward almost slamming into the gas station. the parking brake was not applied until after this happened. this left us stranded for over 8 hours in snow, my car was not towed until the next day. it took until the next morning for ford to help with towing, i was told i was out of luck basically because of other wrecks. i then had a towing bill to pay for. i also have a bill for repairs that i have refused to pay because of the recall (they said my car was not on the list, one mechanic says he knows mine should be because this is a huge known issue). i called the hotline and did not get anywhere, they were rude. i was advised if this hit the recall list, then i would be reimbursed. however, prior to this and still, when you touch the brakes, there is a noise in the shifter, which has been repaired a few times, then i'm told there is no permanent fix for it, it will keep doing this after every repair. why? i feel unsafe for my children and myself in this car, granted i love the ford fusion comfort and how it rides smooth. not only have i had these issues, i've put 3 sets of brand new tires on it, yet every time i'm told there is no issue with the alignment or anything. i should not need new tires after 10,000 miles! if i could trade this in, i would because it's put me in debt with 3 sets of tires and towings.
Takata recall my car started to have no electricity this morning and couldn't start. when i charged, the steering wheel was locked, it was difficult to turn, it was difficult to use.suddenly no electricity, i dont know what the situation is.
Stranded because shifter cable broke. i had to drive a rental car home from ohio.i was able to bypass the shifter cable to get home and not take the car out of gear. i had kids in the car and the weather was 103 degrees. the car would not go into gear for me to start and put the air on. kids were really hot and i have to get the car towed to a dealer. now the dealership is telling me that i have to pay to have the vehicle repaired until the revised parts come in. i should not have to pay for this. car wont start, because the car doesnt know it is in park.
Battery exploded
Ford fusion shifting cable comes off due to bushing being deteriorated causing car to go in reverse while in park. due to this unofficial recall my car went backwards into a building uncontrollably.
The shift cable detached, our vin number didn't show up for this recall for it is the same thing that is happening with other 2016 models
Car started throwing me forward when u accelerated had a small fender bender .. it would have a hard kick as if someone hit me from behind . then it stop working wouldn't go into drive after it was in park it went in reverse almost hit someone behind me .. then ford roadside never showed up . ford lost my car no one could find it ... tow company never took it to the dealer and when i got there for my rental the upervisor laughed and dismissed my concerns even after i was in tears from the trama if the day and night prior. i was promised a rental so i could go to work and was denied it bc the car hadn't arrived . meanwhile roadside assistance couldn't find where my car was . online it said it was picked up and taken to dealer .. i was so frustrated and disappointed with the chaos . no one was helping to resolve the issue and i was late to work and my child's car seat was in the lost car . i was in tears and panic because of the stress of it all. i had to ask the gm at jim tidwell to help with a rental and was being charged 380$ for 1 day rental . i was still under warranty since car is new . i am so disappointed in the insensitive and dismissive behavior by all the men who i spoke to . it's been 3 weeks and i know nothing besides car finally arrive after being impounded in south atlanta. i do not feel safe in the car nor do u want to continue as a customer with ford.
Takata recall. sync system quits working, tries to restart but doesn't. rear back-up camera is inoperable with this condition as well as any entertainment (radio, cd, sirius, etc.) & navigation. upon search of internet it is a wide spread issue they are aware of and making consumers pay for known widespread issue.
Does anything actually happen when someone files a complaint with nhtsa? i submitted a complaint for a recall repair rembursment and was supposed to get a confirmation email but never did. my problem is my 2016 ford fusion has 2 recalls on it....i only found out about them when mine broke and i called the ford corporate office that's when they told me to take my car to a ford dealership and they would repair both recalls free of charge parts and labor...so that's what i did, however when i went to pick up my car they would not release it without making me pay $570.69 or they would hold my car hostage and put in my file that i refused the repair and would be financially responsible for any recalls on the car going forward. i called the corporate office again and they said they would escalate the issue to lithia and would take 6 to 8 weeks to get my money back. i just spoke to lithia and they said ford denied that it was even a recall...which it is, the recall number is 18s20 which is exactly what broke....so i wont ever get my money back for a problem i had nothing to do with creating. so now here i am... ford wont pay me back and neither will lithia ford fresno ca 93710 so what is a consumer of a pos car supposed to do?!
There are 2 recalls on my car the mileage is 59000 and the shifter cable is the problem right now there is also a recall on the steering wheel. apparently the whole [xxx] thing can fall off while driving....the only way i found out about the shifter cable is because mine broke...no notice was sent out and the reason for it and that is because they havent created a stupid bushing that wont break, the shifter is in park but the transmission is in neutral....i had to have the car towed home. then the ford corporate office told me of the recall...they also said there is no part issued yet even tho all 2013 to 2017 models have the same problem. ford told me i would have to pay nothing because it's a recall. i took my car to lithia ford in fresno ca because corporate instructed me to take it there and that was when they told me i would have to pay $580 out of pocket and will get reimbursed when ford issues the right part...its been over 4 years and they still havent issued the right part so how long will it be till i get my money back?!?! if i get my money back, for a problem that is nowhere near my fault, lithia can fix it now but with the same part that just broke. they also said if i dont pay the $580 they would put in my file that i refused the repair for the recall and be completely responsible for all charges regarding the recalls...even tho i already am. i have never heard of a consumer having to pay out of pocket for a faulty part put in a new car! this cant be legal. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I sent this to ford company: dear [xxx], i would like to address about my 2016 ford fusion problem that happened yesterday, july 4, 2018. i was driving from my grocery shopping when all of a sudden my car will not accelerate anymore and it was sliding backward. not sure if sliding backwards was due to slightly uphill or another problem on top of car wouldn?t drive anymore. on my dashboard a wrench drawing appeared with a message ?refer to your manual?. this happened at the intersection of redwood pkwy and oakwood in vallejo ca. this was very dangerous. i put the car on park ?p? turned off the ignition and set the e-break with my lights hazard on. i had to call 911 to avoid accident. they sent a police patrol to escort me while my car is blocking the traffic. you see my car was bought brand new and only have less than 5k mileage. this kind of problem should not happened. i googled 2016 fusion to see common problems and this is one of them. your company must be aware of this, yet, it continue to happen. i hope ford is not waiting for somebody to perish before taking actions, i had my car brought to ford lincoln fairfield ca. i am a single earner and starting today i have to take uber to get to park and ride since this is the only car i have. i want action from your company pertaining to this kind of problem. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Car has broken down 3 times and has only 38000 miles on it. i have been without a car for a month because ford can not figure out what is wrong with it. first time it was supposedly the catalytic converter which they replaced. second time they tried to say that the part was bad so they replaced it again. it is again in the shop undergoing diagnosis. it has completely stopped/lost acceleration and turned off completely three separate times all while driving on the freeway. ford consumer affairs is not addressing the situation at all. i have read that this is a common problem. it needs to be investigated so people aren't killed. repair documentation is available if needed. dates of breakdowns are 6/3/18, 6/10/18 and 7/2/18.
Shaking no power won't accelerate and jerking when backing up
Similar to issues others were having with the throttle control placing the car into "limp" mode, it would appear that this is what happened yesterday as my wife was driving the car on a major highway near pittsburgh (376 west, near the split of 79 north/south) with me in the passenger seat, and three kids under the age of 9 in the back seat. without warning, the car seemingly shut off or "throttled down" and began to shimmy and shake, losing most of its functionality. we were forced to pull to the side of the road, which we barely did, with vehicles speeding past at 4 lane highway speeds. the following day, i contacted ford and explained the situation but was not told anything about this systemic issue. it was not until i discovered the issue on my own, that i learned about the fact that ford has not issued a recall for the electronic throttle body control but instead a "customer satisfaction program" which was not communicated to me, to the best of my knowledge, until after we nearly lost our lives and i had to have the car towed. this issue is going to get someone killed (if it has not already happened) and it would appear that ford fails to appreciate it. my vehicle has just over 18,000 miles on it. i own 2 ford vehicles but won't be buying another.
The doors will not lock while im inside. you can easily open the door after you lock it from the inside. my children can open it while the vehicle is moving. they will not lock at all. just on the outside. the front doors and back doors you can pull the handle and open the door becomes while the vehicle is moving. please help with this issue i see no recall on my model i need this fixed asap. its an accident waiting to happen.
My car barely picks up speeds i have to put my foot all the way down for it to catch speed. my radio only works on one station other station gives out lots of stacked
Vehicle jerks when reversing
On november 25, 2016 at approximately 5:00 pm, my son opened the door with a defective child safety lock while the car was moving 65 mph on the highway in maryland. after we quickly pulled over, we were unable to close the door as there was a metal piece blocking the closing mechanism. we called emergency road side services at 5:20 pm and was told a tow truck would bring us another car with an eta of 8:27 pm. four calls were made up to 10:41pm to find out when the truck would arrive. we were consistently told there was a delay due to holiday traffic. the next morning at 8:03 am, another call was made to determine the status of the issue. we were told the fastest way to get a car would be to go to the local budget rental location but when we arrived we were told they could not give us a car because the computers were down. after multiple additional calls , the service promised to bring a car that afternoon. finally, 21 hours after the initial call, a replacement car was delivered and the ford fusion with the defective child safety lock was returned. this was not only a serious hazard for my family, we lost a day planned with family for the holiday. as a former business traveler of 11 years, this was the worst car rental experience and i would like a full refund for the time, distress, and frustration this caused myself and daily. i shudder to think of what could have happened on that highway and i suggest you add a more thorough safety inspection of vehicles prior to renting them to your customers. *tr
This a complaint about our ford fusion 2016. the problem has started couple months ago, while driving, and sometimes as we start the car, it ripple and kick and the check engine light and see manual light turn on and after 30 min. to an hour they turn off.the engine has completely died on us twice. we have taken the car to ford once and they've told us that the problem has been fixed, but it's still doing the same thing after 2 weeks.this is a safety issue especially since my family, wife and 2 daughters, ride in this vehicle.the same problem happened yesterday, sunday the 30th of october and we have taken the car in this morning. *tr
While driving my 2016 ford fusion with approx 10,000 miles on the interstate i lost power , i had to coast the car to the side of the highway narrowly avoiding an accident. i restarted the car and exited the freeway, about 3 or 4 miles later it re-occurred.wrench light and engine light illuminated. fords health check app reported 'urgent service required'. i had the car towed to the dealer.
