On average, the 2015 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 64 908 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2015 Ford Fusion

My sisters vehicle has started rolling down her driveway and she got back in the car and seen that there is a transmission not in park message and we found that the gear selector cable has broke off the gear selector lever. it is not safe for my sister to drive this vehicle. it's a driving hazard. i have found a recall from 2014 about potential vehicle rollaway for her vehicle but it's not open on her vehicle anymore. she had this problem before and took it into the dealership to get this fixed and it happens again

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. after the vehicle came to a complete stop, the shift lever was placed in park. after exiting the vehicle, it started to roll backwards. the contact stated that the failure occurred once with the shift cable being fractured. the vehicle was repaired per a warranty program at long-lewis ford lincoln volkswagen mitsubishi (2800 woodward ave, muscle shoals, al 35661, (256) 386-7800) in september of 2017. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v471000 (power train) or 19v362000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 122,500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and "transmission not in park" appeared on the message center. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. the following day, the vehicle was picked up by lafayette ford lincoln (5202 raeford rd, fayetteville, nc 28304) and they also brought a loaner vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the same dealer six times, but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving at any speed, the air bag indicator illuminated and flashed on and off. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v590000 (seat belts) and another unknown recall letter regarding the air bags. the contact took the vehicle to bob rohrman schaumburg ford (847-605-0800, located at 815 east golf road, schaumburg, il 60173) where the dealer stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was called, but the line was busy. the failure mileage was approximately 139,888. *as the consumer stated the engine, stability control, transmission lights have all illuminated. the vehicle broken down twice. *js

Took car to dealership to have recall repairs fixed, now with repairs it has now caused a hard shift in gears. recall repair has now caused another issue that was not a problem until recall work was completed. i was parked and car wouldn't come out of gear.

Brought car in for service due to check engine light and battery not charging. replaced battery, but check engine light remained on. again, went to get get diagnostic, resulted in needing catalytic converter. picked up car and check engine light came back on. returned to service next day. diagnostic showed coolant leaked into the engine and head gasket needing replacing. the result is needing a new motor. this issue seems similar to nhtsa campaign number: 17v209000. my issue seems to be related to this recall on the 2013 and 2014 fusions. ford is provided $3,000 for the repair due to me being over 600 miles over power train. my concern is the recall to the 13 and 14 fusion could be broader than those years.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while the vehicle was parked on an incline, it rolled backwards. the contact used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to hawk ford of oak lawn (708-599-6000, located at 6100 w 95th st, oak lawn, il 60453) where it was diagnosed that the transmission linkage chain fractured. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure worsened. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and blinked. also the 'pull over and stop the engine' warning indicator illuminated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 83,000. the vin was unknown.

After merging and accelerating onto the freeway, over to the far left lane, "stop safely now" warning came up and the car lost all power. luckily i was able to coast all the way to the right shoulder (what hawaii considers a shoulder, still very dangerous) the vehicle would not start, only beep multiple times and display the same message. after 5 min on phone trying to get ford roadside assistance, the local highway patrol tow truck showed up. before i allowed him to tow the vehicle i tried to start it and was successful.

Attempted to move my vehicle from my driveway. it started fine, but after shifting out of park, the transmission would not engage any gears, leaving my vehicle stranded. no resistance in the shifter, no gear indication and vehicle would not move.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while the contact's daughter was driving 45 mph, the steering wheel turned to the right and became difficult to turn. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the driver was able to drive to her residence. the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 15v250000 (steering). the vehicle was taken to larry h. miller super ford salt lake city (located at 1340 s. 500 w, salt lake city, ut 84115, (801) 783-4473) where it was diagnosed that the steering assembly and an unknown wire for the power train needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 110,000.

Antilock brake vacuum pump failed while driving on city street at 40-45 mph. almost caused serious accident. brake pump failure caused camshaft failure and a bearing to fall apart and put metal shavings into engine. now engine, per dealership, will need to be replaced.

I have 107,000 miles on 2015 ford fusion. on my way home my car lost power and was not shifting. i was able to make it home. i had car towed to tuttle click ford in san juan capistrano, ca. i was notified that i was going to need a new transmission. totally unacceptable, and i voiced my concerns to the service manager. i have done research online and found many complaints with the exact same symptoms with ford fusions. i have sent emails to mr. ford and the customer service manager and ceo of ford and have not received any response. there are no recalls for this issue for my model year, yet it seems to be an ongoing problem. also ford focus and festival have had a number of complaints as well. my car was on a city street in motion when the sudden loss of power and jerking motion started.

As i was driving on highway doing 55 mph, my ford fusin 2015 wrench light came on and seat belt light along with car loosing power. power dropped down to under 20mph and had to place emergency blinkers on to pull over to side of highway barely made it. taken to dealership no codes were found to indicate the problem and could not be duplicated. battery was replaced due to next day the battery was dead. 2 weeks later , while driving on the street going 35 mph same issue occurred . the rpm reved up and dropped down along with wrench light and seat belt light coming n. back to the dealership no codes stored to indicate the issue. this is very scary to lose power while driving and may cause an accident or even death. there are alot of complaints regarding this matter, you would think ford would do something about it, unfortunately nothing has been done yet. maybe someone has to be dead for them to take it into consideration. i'm going to purchase a chevy!! be safe everyone!!!

Almost had a three car accident. my gear shifted from d to n i was on the highway when it happen

My car was at idle at the store for less than 5 minutes and went into safe mode the mechanic said my active grill motor went out which caused my head gasket to blow without warning. i owe over $10000 on my car and now i have a $4000 shop bill. my car has never overheated not even at that time so my head gasket shouldn't be blown! please help!

We have a 2015 ford fusion se. we were the 2nd owner and purchased from a dealership. while driving the car it started sounding like fluid in the dashboard and the car started shaking. then it started blowing out tons of white smoke out the tail pipe, then the check engine light came on. we pulled over, parked car. let sit and cool down. there was oil, transmission fluid, and coolant in the car. we have done all oil changes and maintenance regularly. we had the car towed to the dealership. after several days they came back stating it is a manufacturer defect and that basically the car sucked in coolant through the engine and was burning (reason for white smoke). it ruined the engine. the manufacturer warranty was over at 60k miles........we have 65k and ford is refusing to cover the issue even though this is a defect that on their end. also the intake manifold was replaced at 46k miles. how can ford state that they are not responsible? we paid $16k for a car we have had barely over a year and now a pile of scrap metal.

When the car is cold the transmission shifts hard, from park to reverse then to all gears until we get to the correct speed. i took it to the dealer i bought it from while it was still under warranty (about 50000 miles on it). they said they couldn't do anything unless they could duplicate the problem and of course they couldn't get it to. well now it has started doing it more often even when the car is warm. i feel like this is an issue with a lot of fusions.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving 20 mph, the contact experienced a failure with the transmission cord and stated that the gears failed to engage. the contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed home. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v167000 (steering) and 18v471000 (power train). the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. maplecrest ford lincoln (2800 springfield ave, vauxhall, nj 07088, (908) 964-7700) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 47,000. parts distribution disconnect.

I was in the about to take my wife to work, i applied the brakes went to shift gear and the car got stuck in reverse i tried to shift back to park and i got message on the dash that said 'transmission not in park' so applied the park brake and turned off the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and shook while depressing the accelerator pedal. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic. a diagnostic was performed and the mechanic stated that the failure was related to other recalls, and the contact's vin may be included in one. the contact called bell ford (1200 nj-27, colonia, nj 07067, 732-388-6900) and was informed that the vin was excluded from any recalls. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the same thing as the dealer. the manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa to file a vehicle safety complaint. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving approximately 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. the contact stated that the failure occurred at different speed intervals. the contact heard an abnormal noise and a slippage in the transmission during the failure. the vehicle was towed to bob bell ford (located at 1230 bel air rd, bel air, md 21014, (410) 879-2544) where it was diagnosed that the solenoid body needed to be replaced. the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be towed to plaza ford (located at 1701 bel air rd, bel air, md 21014, (410) 838-3100) to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,033.

My car has 109,227 miles on it. and the transmission is shifting hard and delaying. this is making the car unsafe to drive and sometimes acts like it doesn't want to go into gear. other people have complained on the internet. in a car this new still should have not have this issue so soon. there should be an investigation and a recall to correct the issue. this happens every time. from highway to city. and even when doing 50 and speeding up to 70 it still shifts hard.

Safety recall 18s20 / 18v471 2015 ford fusion w/ 60,000 miles. as i began arrived home and planned to back into my driveway i placed the vehicle into reverse, however, the car wouldn't reverse and seems to be stuck in gear. it appears that the vehicle is in park but the car isn't actually in park & i must have the emergency brake on to keep the vehicle from rolling. now the car will not start because it apparently is stuck in gear although as previously stated, it shows to be in park. also, the shifter will not move at all now. frustrating to say the least. worst part is the dealership says they do not have the necessary parts to make the repair but have no exact timeframe for when they may be able to provide a solution...what are we supposed to do???

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. after the contact parked the vehicle and exited, it rolled backwards and crashed into a fire hydrant. the contact stated that the ignition key was removed from the ignition switch prior to exiting the vehicle. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. the failure mileage was 33,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while parking the vehicle, the contact shifted into park, but the vehicle rolled. the contact was able to stop the vehicle by applying the emergency brake. the contact received a notice regarding nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the vehicle was towed to champion ford volvo (2502 w 26th st, erie, pa 16506, (814) 878-2500) who initially lost the vehicle and then stated that they could not service the vehicle for a week. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 100,005.

Takata recall brakes went out in car and ford dealer ship had car 1 week before fixing issue. got car back and the next day the transmission shifter went out. car looks to be in park, but it will not start and continues to roll back. car is actually in reserve- dealership says it can be at least 1.5 weeks before it can be fixed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train) in august of 2018. prior to the notice, the contact took the vehicle to sheehy ford of marlow heights (5000 auth rd, camp springs, md 20746, (301) 298-0793) to have the bushing for the transmission cable repaired at her expense. when the contact received the recall notice, she took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that certain parts of the transmission bushing and cable were not covered under the recall. the dealer wanted to charge the contact again for the repair. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 53,545.

Ford sent out a pre recall letter a month ago but they don't have a fix for it. yesterday after i started my car i went to take my car out of park, the gear shift moves but the car doesn't actually go to another gear. the trans shifter cable bushing needs replacing. ford doesn't have a fix for it and they are not trying to resolve the issue. i literally have to go without a car until the get s part which i heard was the middle of next year.

When i park or drive my transmission jump i be to the for dealer but they dont have guy to check it

On august 20th, 2018 i prepared to park my ford fusion se. i pulled forward aligning the car with the parking space. i placed the automatic transmission gear shift stick in reverse. i pressed on the gas pedal. instead of the car going backwards in reverse the car moved forward as in drive. fortunately there were no people or property in front me. had there been a person in front of me, my vehicle would have run over them possibly causing severe injury or death. the car could not be driven and was towed to a ford dealership where a mechanic stated the problem was with the bushing in the transmission cable that had to lead to significant enough wear to cause the transmission shifter cable to break. ford presents this as a benign problem that could cause the car to fail to shift into park. my experience was the car not only failed to shift into park when i tried. my experience was the car went in the opposite direction from the gear i shifted it into. as stated this has the potential to cause death, severe injury and property damage. i contacted ford this morning. there was response was "we are sorry." there is no acknowledgement about the serious safety issue involved. this issue is the subject of a ford recall: 18s20 / nhtsa 18v471. my ford dealer acknowledged there was a recall that was going to happen back in july but he did not specify what the recall issue was about. ford is dragging its feet on this recall. ford is delaying solving this problem. my car can not be driven. ford is stating i must $841.00 in expenses to repair this recall and i will then be reimbursed. when contacted by the dealer, mossy ford in san diego, ca on my behalf, ford motor company refused to pay for the recall and said i, the customer would have to pay for it. what if this had happened while i was travelling 65mph down i5 in san diego?

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle rolled backwards and crashed into the vehicle in the rear. there were no injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the shifter cable was detached. the mechanic re-attached the shifter cable. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 87,588.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford fusion. while driving at low speeds, the vehicle was shifted into neutral and became jammed. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was towed to murphy ford (3310 township line rd, chester, pa) where it was confirmed that the failure was due to nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train). the dealer refused to complete the recall repair for free, stating that the recall was a preliminary notice. the vehicle was not repaired due to the contact not having the funds. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to pay for the repair and be reimbursed when the parts were available. the failure mileage was approximately 76,430.

I pulled in to a parking space and placed my vehicle in park, as i was getting ready to exit my car the car started to move forward, i check to make sure the vehicle was in park, the shifter was stuck in park, and the instrument panel was in drive. i checked to assure the vehicle was off and removed the key and put the parking brake on. i was panicked that my car was still in motion and could have it hit another vehicle, or a person in the parking lot or myself. when the tow truck driver removed the parking break the car was still out of gear and the open door knocked him off balance. the ford dealer found that the bushing on the shifter cable was missing, and the whole shifter cable and bushing had to be replaced. i have no confidence that the parts put on my vehicle are going to last. when i asked about the recall, i was told that the recall was not in effect yet, because the parts are unavailable. i paid for this out of pocket. i did not receive a safety notice as stated in the nhtsa recall #18v-471 report. i believe that ford is very negligent in notifications to the owners of there vehicles. a letter to owners as stated in the above report "description of remedy program" is a simple thing to have issued so people are safe, before the parts are available; i did not receive a letter from ford motor co. if something is not done soon someone is going to be injured or killed by this issue. i believe that this vehicle is very unsafe to drive with the steering wheel recall and i also had to have the steering box replaced also.

I initially called on 724/2018, incident# 1256726. i had an issue where my car was placed in park, but car thought it was still in drive. found out there was an open recall for this issue (manufacturer recall#18s20). i also reached out to ford motors, who advised to wait until car diagnosed and see what really caused the issue. per the autonation ford dealership that worked on my car, it wasn't the exact same cause as the recall, but the effect was the same that the car not know what gear it was actually placed in... gear shift stopped working, brake lights stopped working, then engine wouldn't start, as car already thought it was in drive. ford advised if issue not caused by whats in recall that i would have to pay. my response was "if something else caused the exact same issue, sounds like the recall should be adjusted to cover more than just one cable. seems like ford agreed, because they fixed the issue for free. paperwork says issue was "cable assembly- selector lever. shifter cable was replaced. i then called ford mototrs the next day to follow-up on my previous call... i was advised that part for the recall wouldn't be available until late september, which is a very long time for an unsafe car. my issue is this is my 2nd recall, and i've only owned the car for 3 months. i advised ford motors i felt the car was unsafe. rep asked me "what do you want"... i advised i would like to seek possible trade-in for a safer car, and this car, nor any car with 2 recalls should still be on road. rep then gives me the phone number and phone option to reach the "buyback/trade-in request program" phone number was 800-392-3673, option 1, option 4, then option 5. she advised i needed my vin, then it would ask for my mileage. option 1 was english, 4 was for recalls, and 5 was to repeat those options again. i called back 6 more times, and tried different options unsuccessfully.

2015 ford fusion- after sitting for short periods of time the vehicle will not turn on until multiple attempts. the battery is good. no jump is required. vehicle will go from no power on the first attempted start to managing to power on within a couple of minutes. while in drive, the vehicle will not switch gears appropriately. the engine will rev, pull, and then switch gears very roughly. this has been looked at by a local mechanic. the mechanic could not find any problems even though it has been a consistent occurrence. mechanic stated that this is common in newer fords.
