We have classified the 1 complaints from 2013 Ford Fusion about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Upon exiting the stationary vehicle via the front passenger door the door latch failed and the door would not latch closed at all. had to be tied to drive to safe location. latch had been replaced under vehicle recall in april 2017, but apparently did not fix the issue.
My vehicle had a recall just over a year ago to get all four door latches replaced due to the safety risk of it breaking and not securing the door during movement. we had the vehicle serviced in june 2016 and in september 2017 the latch failed on the front passenger door. this failure was the exact same type that was stated in the initial recall. upon talking to a local ford dealer they said it would be covered under a two year warranty. this was not the case and due to the fact that the recall was already serviced they would not open another claim. while talking to on of the service providers he stated that the latches were not a new model and just were replaced with the same model that was previously on it and was just a new part. if a part is recalled i'd expect a new version that exceeds the safety standards to be installed. i attempted to contact ford customer service with no help and have since filed a claim with the better business bureau.
The vehicle was started and was no more than 10 minutes from our house when it started smoking while being driven to work. within a minute the check engine light came on, within another minute the car lost power. the gas pedal wouldn't work, etc etc. we were able to coast into a side street and exit the vehicle. within a minute of that happening it burst into flames and was completely engulfed and destroyed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the rear passenger door remained ajar and the door ajar indicator illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to galpin ford (15505 roscoe blvd, van nuys, ca 91343) where it was diagnosed that the rear door was defective. prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v210000 (latches/locks/linkages). the manufacturer stated that the vehicle had already been repaired per the recall. the failure mileage was 88,321.
Takata recall door latches keep having to be repaired.sitting still.got ready to leave for work turned the car on and it lit rear door open.got out to close would not latch..had to click the latch up a couple of times for it finally catching have noticed recalls on some make and models but not the own i own..and i have gotten another door repaired pryor to this back door.the front passenger side. released while driving on freeway.the car had about 30000 miles at that time.no one was hurt
15s16 recall. my vehicle was subject to ford recall 15s16. parts were replaced under recall about 18 months after the repair was done my door latch failed again.
Rear passenger door opened up in the middle of driving. it would not close. it seems like the latch operation is not working. there is a current recall on 2013 ford fusion regarding door latch but service advisor and ford inform me that my particular car is not part of recall even though it is exact same issue as described in recall 15s16. i was lucky that my door opening automatically did not hit anyone.
Door latches are defected. passenger door swung open as i was driving on a major highway. this is not safe! there has already been a recall for the door latches on the 2013 & 2014 ford fusions. i have a 2013 ford fusion, however, ford claims they cannot cover this because the recall for this part doesn't pertain to my vehicle since my vehicle was built in 2012. this is absurd! this issue could possibly lead to a major accident!
Ford recall 17s09 to replace failing door latches was complied with in december 2015. a replaced door latch has failed again indicating the replacement latches are still defective. ford has also declined to cover the broken part under warranty. the failure occurred when my wife was attempting to pick up our toddler from daycare. when she closed the door, it would not latch. the local ford dealer inspected the latch and did agree that it had failed.
Front passenger door latch failed just over a year ago. ford service told me all 4 door latches have been replaced under recall. yesterday (7/25/17) driver door latch failed. cost is $100 deductible to replace as latches are >1 yr old. this is a massive safety problem if the recalled and replaced door latches are failing. the door latches fail simply when getting in a car and closing the door. the doors will no longer remain closed. the latch is plastic and simply wiggles in the latch slot when defective. i had to use ratchet straps to keep the doors closed to drive the vehicle to the dealer 23 miles away. plastic quickly deteriorates in the texas summer heat, so it's just a matter of time on when these will fail regularly.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while operating the vehicle, the front passenger side door did not lock and remained secured. the display indicated that the door was opened and the interior dome light remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to blue springs ford located in blue spring, missouri where it was diagnosed that the door latch was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v210000(latches/locks/linkages). the contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. the failure mileage was 87,000. updated 09/06/17 *bf *cn
Takata recall passenger door came open while driving home from work on 6/29/17. door latch will not latch onto the frame of the vehicle while attempting to shut door. current status of the situation is an appt with my local ford dealership on 7/10/17. no recall on my vin but there is a current recall on 2013-2014 fusion models assemblied in mexico.
The front passenger side door won't stay closed. the internal latch is broken so the door can fly open at any time without the door handle being opened. further, the door will close far enough to not trigger a door open sensor, so the driver wouldn't necessarily know about the problem. calling the dealership, they didn't sound surprised at all and said this has been happening on ford fiesta's, but they didn't have the parts for a ford fusion. the dealership, jordon ford in san antonio, texas, proceeded to ask me to hook up bungee cords to the door and drive it there. i refused and they finally sent a tow truck. i noticed this problem when the vehicle was at home in the garage, but i don't know when it initially occurred and it is highly likely it was driven with this problem. i'm sure it goes without saying that if this happened to one door, it could happen to any of the doors and cause a serious hazard if a door came open while driving. i don't know of any recalls for ford fusions related to this. i have a video showing that the door won't close properly, but it was difficult to capture this problem in a still photo. if you would like the video, please let me know and i would be happy to send it along.
Door latch safety recall 15s16 this recall replacement was made on 12/2015 for the vehicle. on 4/8/2017 the vehicle door would not close or lock. it actually opens while moving and had to be secured via bungee cord to make it to the closest dealership. unfortunately, according to ford motor co, once the recall is completed on the vehicle, the warranty only lasts for one year. therefore, the warranty ran out on 12/2016 for the recalled replacement part. ford motor company will not honor the replaced part and in fact states that it will cost me $500 to fix. this is a major recall issue for ford and the recall has been extended twice since the original one. i will attach the information below. without the latch, the car is not drivable, unable to be locked, and causes the interior lighting system to be continuously illuminated. i want an investigation on the replacement door latch parts. i do not feel as the other doors are safe either since they were apparently replaced at the same time under the recall. ford should pay for this issue as the original fix is defective. this recall affects over 2 million cars. ford also told me if they have enough complaints from other vehicles, they could do an internal investigation on the replacement parts. if a recall is in fact made on the part a 2nd time, i would not qualify if ford helps to reduce the cost i have to pay to fix this issue now. this should be investigated! i also would like to include that this vehicle is mainly used m-f for a work vehicle for a single driver, no passengers. the driver also has been deployed many months in the life of this vehicle and that door hasn't been used much. i could also provide documentation for those dates, as well. please open an investigation on this issue, as it is absolutely a safety problem!
Driver door does not shut
Right passenger door flew open while in motion entering my parking garage. passenger door won't close at all.
The passenger door flew open while i was turning a corner. i stopped to try and close the door and it would not close. this door latch was supposedly replaced during a previous recall for the same problem.
On february 5, 2017 the engine of my 2013 ford fusion caught on fire. the car began to smoke from under the hood while the car was in motion. i stopped and opened the hood to inspect and the engine was already in flames. the fire spread rapidly and the fire department had to be called to extinguish the blaze. my son and i were barely able to escape unharmed. i contacted ford on several occasions and they have been unwilling assist. they closed my original claim without addressing the issue. i also asked if there were any recalls related to engine fires and they state no. i feel i am unable to get any attention to this matter that put both mine and my son's lives in danger and also destroyed the sizeable investment i made into the purchase of a brand new vehicle. please assist!
Door latch recall yesterday, in the rain, i started to drive on a city street and my front passenger door opened and my dash indicated the door was open so i pulled over, grabbed the handle and tried to close the door...welll, the door wouldn't lock, it kept opening, so i made a loop through the door handle, using my belt and drove with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on my belt to try and hold the door closed. i looked online and discovered there was a door latch recall last year affecting almost 2.4 million cars, which my year and model were involved.i never received a recall notice. then i checked online for active recalls for my vehicle and the door latch was not on there. i called the dealership this morning and they said my vin number was not included in the recall. i was not happy with their response so the gave me ford corporate's phone number. i contacted them, they gave me the same response as the dealership but was going to document it and to keep my receipt, for the repairs, in case my vin gets added to the recall. so i don't know how many complaints it takes for you to investigate this, to be included in the recall, but this situation is clearly unsafe and lawsuit waiting to happen. this was not a result of anybody trying to break into my car or anything else...this is clearly a door latch issue and obviously there are more vehicles involved in this recall that have not been account for. please let me know what the next steps are and i should not be responsible for paying for this up front.
Passenger door will not latch and swings open.
Whilst making a turn the front passenger door flew open and now will not close/lock, happened in a parking lot whilst in motion, ford has recalled the fusion for this problem but my vin is not one of them. surely those faulty latches are in my vehicle too!
Front passenger door latch broke again, one year and 5 months after it was repaired pursuant to a recall. ford will not honor any warranty on the part or labor and have asked me to pay more than $500 to repair it. this is a safety issue because door can swing wide open while car is in motion putting all passengers at risk of death or serious injury. luckily, the problem was discovered after vehicle was parked, passenger exited and door would not shut any longer.
I was driving down the road and the beep turned on, the dashboard symbol said, "door ajar," and stopped the car. my passenger couldn't close the door. she had to hold it close to get to our destination because we were 10 miles from our home and on a busy highway (hwy 301).
Right rear door latch failed while making left turn swinging open
My 2013 ford fusion caught on fire while my family and i were driving on the 405 freeway. we barely got out alive and the car was completely incinerated...burnt to pieces ! ireceived a recall for engine fires after the car caught fire and nearly took our lives!!. my 8 year old disabled daughter is so traumatized from this car fire. i don't know how ford can continue to still make these death trap cars.
Passenger door will not latch. the door will not stay shut and it opens easily. i was driving on the freeway and the door opened when i was braking. the door also opens by itself when i make left turns. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership and i was told i needed to pay for it out of pocket.
Ford door latch issue. door is very difficult to latch shut, even when the door does latch shut, it has a frequent habit of popping open while driving down the road. i have notified ford of the issue. ford has refused to resolve the issue even though they have a recall on these vehicles for this problem but mine is not on the recall list. this is the second ford i have owned that has had the same issue as other vehicles that were on the recall list but mine were not. very dissatisfied with ford, their product, and there customer relations for not getting this resolved. never again shall i own another ford product. buyers beware, if you purchase a ford, it will likely have safety issues and no, they will not fix it for you. by the way, the door latch needed to fix the issue is monopolized by the ford motor company. what seems to be a cheap foreign made $5 product is a whopping $186 from ford. again, buyer beware. *tr
Rear passenger door latch is not working. the car was in motion on a city street when the "door is ajar" alert came on. there was a child in the back seat at the time.
8/15/15 vehicle went in for replacement/painting of two new front doors due to rust at inside edges. today 10/16/16, noticed paint bubbling at the edge of the hood in the same manner. both at an area where the metal is "crimped" at edge.
Latch on driver's side door that had been replaced under recall (ford recall 15s16, nhtsa campaign # 15v250000) failed and caused door to open unexpectedly while driving. i had to physically hold the door to keep it shut in order to get the car home and then to the dealership. i probably should have had it towed instead of driving it. ford failed to replace part under warranty because of number of miles that had been driven since the latch was replaced under the recall. ford part # used to replace latch was fe8z 5421813 c. *tr
Passenger side door latch would not latch allowing door to be securely shut. door had to be tied shut until repairs could be made. dealer said it was known defect but charged for repair.
The rear passenger door latch failed again, the recall was performed 14 months ago. the dealer refused to repair it under the recall. i took the car back and it is parked in the garage with the battery disconnected.
The passenger door latch stopped working and i had to use rope to keep the door shut. the service department confirmed that the latch was internally faulty and was replaced at my expense.
The rear passenger door will not shut and i had to hold it close with a bungee cord. bill utter ford in denton, tx. said this vin was not included in the recall and they charged me to fix the issue. i would like to be reimbursed and have the remaining doors fixed. this vehicle needs to be included in the recall for the faulty door latch.
When it rains i get a puddle of water in the driver and passenger seat floor boards..we cannot find where the water is coming from. the dealership is saying it's coming from a faulty seal around the windshield.it happens when in motion and when stationary.
There rear door latch will not lock in place at all, therefore the door will not stay closed. the door opened on its own while going around a corner.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the rear doors were re-opening involuntarily and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred on several occasions. the failure mileage was 80,000.
Right rear passenger door came open while driving.as latch assembly was faculty.
Front passenger door fails to close. will not latch. happened when vehicle was parked. had to wrap seat belt around it to get it to the dealer for repair. dealer claims it is not under recall.
A recall has been sent regarding failing door latches that should be replaced. i have tried for approx. 2 months to get the dealer to fix this. they say the parts are on back order, but i get ford mailings that the parts are available. i cannot get any definitive info from the dealer, don bohn ford. i consider the potential of a failing door latch to be life threatening and am not getting any response from the dealer. i called ford customer service and they say they will get back to me. this goes unresolved.
I traded this car into the covert ford dealership last 8-2016. the door wouldn't close and i went to trade the car in this was the same exact problem listed in the door latch recall. they made me pay for the parts to fix the door, my vehicle wasn't included in the recall. i was unaware of the ford door latch problem and my dad had told me after the fact there were recall problems and articles all over the internet. my vehicle was manufactured in mexico, and this was a source of the problem. i have tried to contact ford to report this and expand the recall and i get absolutely no where. i wanted to see about getting refunded for what the dealership charged me at trade in. i was amazed that ford new of the problem and still did nothing, to try and expand the recall. this is a very dangerous issue. i was hoping to get some help or getting some further information from you all.
I'm having an issue with the passenger door not latching properly. ford has advised it's not part of the large recall for the exact same issue.
On friday 8/05/16 while vehicle was in motion in a residential area in imperial, ca, the front drivers side door opened. i attempted to shut the door many times but was not successful. i had to pull over and drive the rest of the way home (two blocks) holding the door with one hand. the door will not shut and just springs back when it should hold shut. after a search online i discovered this is a safety recall for my car, when i called my local ford dealership to report it and take it in they stated my vin number was not on the recall list and i would have to contact ford co. i spoke with ford co. they informed me that i would have to take my care in for a "diagnostic check" since i could not prove over the phone something was wrong with my vehicle. i once again contacted my local ford dealership and was told to have my car fixed and pay $300 i would be able to have it ready the following day but for a diagnostic check it would be three weeks. i was also told i would have to pay privately until ford co. added my vin number to the recall list.
Front passenger door failed. was working fine. then got out of car and shut door. door would not latch. would bang against frame and not latch. had to drive to dealer with passenger holding door shut. dealer is claiming this is not a recall issue, yet ford just issued a recall on this exact issue today on several other models.
The rear passenger-side door latch broke, leaving the door just swinging open after the vehicle had been parked. we took it to a ford dealer, who looked up the vin and found that another door latch on this vehicle had been replaced previously. i investigated and found that this vehicle had been recalled for door latches, and that all 4 were to have been replaced. however, apparently only one on this vehicle was corrected. we had only owned the car for 2-1/2 months when this happened, and had never been advised of the recall. i complained to ford, and was told the recall was closed. since the records show only one latch was repaired when all were supposed to be, it would seem that i should get reimbursed for the latch i had to fix as well as getting the other 2 replaced. this is a very dangerous flaw that could result in the door flying open while being driven!
A week ago my son tried to close the back door behind the driver side and it would not shut. there was a police officer there who tried to help, they got duct tape and closed it and we took it to our repair shop. they had to repair the latch and another part and mentioned the recall. we paid them $330 to repair, we then called ford and found our vin # was not in the recall. we spent 4 hours on the phone with everyone from the dealer to ford themselves. said they could not help us until it was part of a recall without charging us. this is a care my twin sons are taking to college with them in two weeks. we know this is a defect and the repair shop also mentioned it. fyi my ford was in the dealers shop two weeks before and they repaired two other recalls but when we called them back said ours was not included.
The 3rd door latch on our 2013 ford fusion broke while in motion on a city street while my children were in the car. the door opened and was not able to close. this originally happened to our rear left side door before ford had recalled the part. as my husband turned left on a city street the door opened. my toddler was in her car seat next to the door and my 8 year old son had to hold the door shut till he could pull over. the car was just barely out of warranty mileage, but only 18 months. it was not recalled at that time. next was our left front passenger door. my husband was driving a coworker home when the door latch broke. he was in the town he works in and had to leave it at their ford dealership, due to the fact that driving it over an hour to the dealership we purchased it at was unsafe and impossible. they had to keep our car for over a month to get the part to fix it. during that time period our car sat with the door taped shut on their lot. we expected that during that month they would have fixed all the doors according to the recall, however that was not done. why are these cars being sent back on the street with unsafe parts? are we waiting for children to fall out and die on the streets? ford needs to be held responsible for not fixing the parts in order of their recall while they have the vehicle. who has time to go back and forth to the dealership, deal with getting a rental car and waiting for a few parts at a time to come in and fix it. having four young children i am terrified to get this vehicle back! the car has been back twice for the seat back replacement as well. the brackets are not safe and give out while during. ford told us today we now need to get new parts on all the doors. why did they fixing it with defective parts? why are they sending these cars back on the street when they are not properly fixed giving a false sense of security?
We have owned our 2013 ford fusion for less than three years. while driving, we made a left hand turn and the front passenger side door flew open, even though it was properly closed and locked. the passenger reached out to close the door while the driver slowed down. the door then would not stay closed. we researched and found more than 500,000 ford vehicles, including 2013 ford fusions, were subject to recall due to faulty door latches. we contacted our dealership and ford directly, but we were told our vin is not included in the recall. we paid nearly $500 to have the faulty latch replaced, and we now fear for our safety, not knowing if the other three door latches will fail as well. we are requesting the recall be expanded to include our vehicle. we would like to be reimbursed for the cost we have incurred, and we would like the remaining three door latches replaced as well.
Passenger side door will not lock, came open while turning a corner and would not lock manually or with key fob
The test drive on my ford went smoothly. however, later that month my vehicle began shifting hard. it revs and the engine pulls. i have to barely accelerate to get it to shift even then it shifts extremely hard. i informed the local ford dealership of the issue and i was told that all of the 1.6 ecoboost models like mines shift hard. that is ridiculous. this issue was never fixed. i also experienced another issue: my gas tank door did not operate correctly. it felt like a spring came out because the door would blow open while i am driving.
