Driving and door swung open on the one express way almost killed me if i didn't have my seat belt on.

After repairing the doors latches in march of 2016 for nhtsa recall 15v-246, the passenger front door would not latch on october 18, 2019. the vehicle was stationary at the time in a parking lot. this is the exact same problem that initiated the recall obviously the replaced part during the recall is also defective. took it in to the dealer to have it replaced for a cost of $347. i have an invoice from the dealer at hand. the invoice is for "replace the cable for latch and handle due to breaking and not allowing proper movement." the part is a cable assembly and the ford part number is ds7z 54221a00 b

Driver door latch, which was replaced under recall 15s16 in feb 2016 at 57k miles, failed to latch in oct 2019 at 108k miles. dealer verified that the broken latch they removed was one of the upgraded parts. door latch worked fine the night before but failed in the morning when i went to close my door and the door bounced open again. car was not in motion or even started yet when the replacement latch failed. car is garaged, no adverse weather that day or the previous night. the replacement part lasted less time than the original working latch that was replaced as a preventative measure under recall.*dt

On 9/30/2019, after loading my 4 year old into a booster seat adjacent the driver's-side rear door, i closed the door and, as i pulled out of a parking space the driver's-side rear door slowly opened up. i reached back to close it again and it just bounced closed and then open again. finding a place to park, i examined the latch, which would not catch at all when the door was closed. i had to use ropes and bungee cords to secure the door to get home and my 4 year old had to ride in the front seat since i couldn't risk him being in the back with a door that wasn't secure. today, 10/1/2019, i contacted ford legacy in mcdonough ga and they informed me that while there was a recall out for 2013 fusion for latch failures, my vehicle wasn't subject to the recall and i would have to pay $250 for the repair, which is being performed now.*dt*jb

Door latch recall was performed just over a year ago. approx 14 months. (15s16) door latches have a pawl spring tab that may break. this condition will typically prevent the door from latching. in certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. service action dealers are to replace all four door latches. this service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner. however the passenger door will not shut last week. this occurred after the recall has been closed out. i immediately took the vehicle to an authorized ford dealer which then i was quoted the parts and labor of the job. i contacted ford relations stating this still falls under the description of 15s16 however they cannot reopen the recall once it has been closed. the recall 15s16 is pointless if the replacement part isn't going to correct the problem. my door still doesn't latch and may fly open at no warning.*dt contact stated during rush traffic passenger front door flew open.*jb

I took my car in to watson ford in jackson, ms in 2017 to be recall serviced. they fixed everything..including my door latches. i had to bring it back in june 18 because the front passenger door swing open and my daughter was in the seat & could have been seriously hurt. now, my back door passenger door latch has done the very same thing. i have attempted to talk to the ford company, trying to get them to fix this before someone is hurt but they refuse. i was driving both times & both times my child's life was endangered. they've been rude & unhelpful. i only want to be able to drive safely without my car door flying open. this will be the 3rd problem concerning these door latches. please help

Recall of door locks, fully replaced in 2017. was at work yesterday and the door latch failed just like initial incident. went to close the door & it bounced back like something was stopping it from closing. as per ford they aren't responsible.

Vehicle was in motion in driveway when back passenger door sprung open and would not close back. approximately 2 weeks later while driving on dirt road close to home the driver door sprung open and again would not shut (vehicle was in motion). when attempting to close the door the latch that secures the door to the car will not lock into place. both doors have exhibited the exact failure.

Passenger and driver side door latches broke within a couple weeks of each other. the car was parked both times and when exiting the car and trying to close the doors, they do not latch shut and only remain open.*dt *tp

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving, the front driver's door opened independently without warning. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and attempted to close the door; however, the lock mechanism failed. the contact held the door and drove slowly to her residence. the contact called ted russell ford lincoln (8551 kingston pike, knoxville, tn 37919, (865) 693-7611) and was informed that the vin was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 99,707.

I was hit from behind while stopped ready to turn in to my drive way pickup hit me about 40 mile per hr.push me across the street into some medal pipes why did the air bag did not go off?????i was on a state highway

Last year, our back passenger door would not latch shut. we did a simple search and found that there was a recall on some 2013 ford fusions for this very issue. when we took it in to the ford dealer, they said our specific vin number was not under recall but that it was a "broken pawl spring tab" which resides inside the car door, that was the issue. we paid for the repair. last week, the very same thing happened to the front passenger door (different door). both times it happened as we were getting into the car while it was still parked. i contacted ford and they said there was nothing they could do since our specific vin number was not under recall. this is very concerning to us because it is obviously due to the defective part and not normal wear and tear. we are also concerned that, according to ford, even if the door does shut, it could come open again without warning. if we are driving down the interstate with our kids in the car and the door comes open without warning due to a defective part, who knows what could happen. since this has already happened to 2 out of our 4 doors, we can only assume it will happen to the other 2 doors. thank you for your consideration. *dt consumer stated front passenger and right rear door latches has been replaced.*jb

Recall # 15s16 on my 2013 ford fusion titanium vin # [xxx] for door safety latch replacement. ford marked this "important safety recall june 2016" on jan 13, 2018 i took my above mentioned vehicle to gibbons ford 704 martin f. gibbons blvd, dickson city pa 18519 service advisor was 128 [xxx]. my mileage was 52616 upon drop off. upon pick up i was informed tech verified recalls and tech verified proper operation as per recall 15s14. h door latch replacement all open recalls be. on approximately 07/19/19 while enroute to work my front passenger side door flung open with great force that startled me. i pulled to the side of the road and tried to secure the door but the door bounced back open. once again i tried to secure the door and it failed to secure. the vehicle door was secured using rope that was tied around the door frame from the front passenger door to the frame of the back passenger door. skip ahead to 08/06/19 the earliest day coccia ford 577 e. main st wilkes-barre pa 18702 could look at the vehicle to determine the problem. mileage dropped off at 66098. skip ahead 08/07/19 service manager frank dominick states on my paperwork that rf door latch needs to be replaced. frank [xxx] also states that vehicle does not comply with the door latch recall. he then states no tsb's or ssm's found for this concern. the part that was put on my vehicle by coccia was be8z 5421812b description latch $158.55 i was then charged for labor $104.95 the line total was $263.50. i had no other choice other than to pay this very steep bill. i paid and obtained the defected part. i the customer tried to plea my case several times to coccia ford and ford service. i asked several times upon multiple calls to speak with a supervisor. ford service failed to connect me to a supervisor each and every call. i am asking to be fully compensated for the safety recall defect. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Yesterday on july 2nd, 2019 i picked my friend up from the airport. as we were driving home the door literally unlatched on the passenger side. the door wouldn't close. it was like a malfunction. i checked to be sure that nothing was in the way to prevent it from closing and there wasn't. i contacted the ford dealership in my area and was told they have a recall on this issue on 2014 and 2015 but not on my 2013 which is ridiculous. i did research and noticed that on (march 27th, 2017) there was this same recall on the 2013. now i'm being told that i have to pay $400 due to my warranty running out a week ago. i'm currently using my seatbelt to hold the door shut due to this being my only mode of transportation

Front passenger door flew open while driving on a city street with my daughter in the front seat, she had to hold the door shut until i could pull over. i had it repaired last thursday and today (sunday), the sa.e thing happened to the rear passenger door! we found the recall online today when i entered my vin. nobody was hurt thankfully and the car was not damaged.

The door latches stop latching and not even a locked door secures the latch and your family member may fall out of the car.

Car never been in accident in front. waxed all the time.. and now rust srope inder the paint. and now the paint cracked and starting to peel. alot of reports are saying the sam thing. also there are recalls out for that issue.

My vehicle is having issues with my car not going into park. last week i got home pulled in my driveway. i tried to put my car in park but the gear shift would not move. it was stuck in the drive mode. the only way i was able to stop my car from rolling into my house was by using the emergency brake. this is the second extremely dangerous recall with this vehicle. previously i had a recall with the back passenger door latch. driving with my children one particular day and the door opens. my personal opinion and based on my experience the 2013 ford fusion is a safety hazard and has not been manufactured properly.

Ford fusion recall - right rear door latch unhooked, the door doesn't stay closed. recall was found on this situation, and front right door had this issue about a year ago and was claimed to be fixed. now rear right door is having this issue and it is entirely unsafe to drive. angela krause ford in roswell was charging around $500 to replace this door latch, even though there was a recall on this incident. the vehicle was staying at their location waiting for a warranty to cover the costs but this did not occur, and we were still charged for a diagnostic fee, just for them to look at the door.

Door latch broken. this time it's the drivers entry door. this is the 3rd door latch to break after the door latch recall 'fix' that was previously performed on this vehicle. this latch broke while stationary, the first broken latch occurred when moving

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 50 mph, the front passenger door failed to remain closed and the passenger door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 85,000.

The shifter cable bushing failed, causing inaccurate gear selection, resulting in car rolling down my driveway, crossing the street and crashing into my neighbors tree. damage included the rear bumper, the tree, no one was hurt but it could have been a lot worse. ford has a recall for the same year, and model, but insist that my car is not in the list. this incident has cost to date almost a thousand dollars to fix. the loss of confidence regarding the safety of this vehicle cannot be monetized.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the front and rear passenger doors would not open from outside of the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v246000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). the dealer was not contacted; however, the recall notice instructed owners to schedule an appointment. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle was repaired summer of 2018 for door latch recall. all door latches were replaced per the recall. prior to the recall repair the right rear latch failed. on 12/18/18 the right front passenger latch failed allowing the door to open with the inability to close. dealer replaced this latch under warranty on 12/20/18. recall didn't work. latches are still failing.

I was driving down the road today and the passenger door flew open. i asked about a recall last month because the door stop catching and the ford dealership told me i didn't have the recall for the door latch under my vin #. door flew open on the street as i was making a turn on my way to work. luckily i was close to my job so i just drove a few blocks with my hand holding the passenger door shut.

The door latch on the drivers side door failed during operation and the door opened while underway. taken to ford to be fixed as i have seen other issues with the door latch failing on the same vehicle. ford said this was not a recalled part. the door opened and would not latch shut again causing me to try use by belt as a strap to keep the door shut.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the front driver side door was closed, but opened independently. the contact attempted to close the door again, but the door lock did not engage. the vehicle was taken to d&d motors ford (13655 wade hampton blvd, greer, sc 29651) where they replaced the door lock assembly. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 15v246000 (latches/locks/linkages). the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

Door latch recall. i have a 2013 ford fusion that the driver latch failed. my car was built during the time frame given in the recall and the plant that it came from. ford tells me that my car is not part of the recall. but they have not given me a clear response other than my vin does not fall into the category for the recall. i am going back and forth with ford customer service and they are unable to give me the exact reason as to why it is not included. i have attached the correspondence with ford.

Door won't engage and remains opened, so i checked the internet and found that ford has numerous door latch recalls and it appeared that my focus of the years i own was included. i went to the dealer and when i pulled in, the greeting person saw my bungie cord system to hold the door somewhat closed and he said "oh i know why you're here" obviously, he has seen this many times, however, when i went to the desk, the rep said my vin was not included in the recall and i would have to pay for it myself. i left and called ford. i told of the situation and said this is dangerous and i would hate if something tragic happened where it would end up in a law suit or on the news. the rep who was obviously in another country and i could barely understand, said she was going to expedite this and send it to my dealer's service manager and i was to call the next afternoon. i called was transferred to a voice mail with no response. i called two days later and spoke to the service mgr who found the case but couldn't understand when was written. he said he would call me back later which he did and told me that ford will not cover this. so now i have a call to the executive team and am awaiting a response.

Our call had a recall , never got notice and the recall on this vehicle localized overheating my cylinder head to crack, result in fire in engine and this is what happened to our 2013 ford fusion

Door latch failure

Recall on door latch was serviced on nov 3 2017 at 85000 miles. and the same problem occured with the front passenger door. contacted hennessy ford in alpharetta ga that done the recall and says there's no warranty on recall repairs.

The hood latch continues to loosen causing my hood not to close properly. i have noticed that many other fusions in my town are driving around with hoods that are not properly shutting as well.

I was purchasing a new vehicle, while shopping at greenway dodge and ford, i came across a 2013 ford fusion and loved the vehicle. however, the back right door would not close due to a manufacture recall. i told the sales man i love the vehicle but i would not make a down payment until they fixed it. a couple days later i received a call that they fixed all 4 doors and the vehicle was ready. after about two or so weeks from picking the vehicle up, i was driving down the highway when the passenger side door swung open with my girlfriend in the passenger seat and my dog in the back (if it was my dog in the front seat he would be dead on the highway). i returned to the dealership when i found out the vehicle had been repaired 2 previous times, once in april and once in july, claiming that all 4 doors had been replaced. i once again had to put my vehicle in the shop and rent a car. then today, i receive a call that they gave me a completely invalid license plate. when i went to get another tag after my temporary one expired they refused to print another one even though i only got one temporary. i explained that i could not drive without a plate when the person working gave me hard plate and told me it was mine. i recently just got my florida driver's license. if i was pulled over with a plate that was not registered and out-of-state license i would get ticketed (possible arrested), car impounded, and tons of fines. they did not tell me for a month that the license plate i had was not registered to me. i have been back and forth with this dealership constantly and i have only owned this vehicle since july (there is documentation on the repairs). i want to take legal action for the risk they have put my girlfriend in and also the careless mistakes they have made while displaying a lack of urgency.

The passenger door latch will not operate allowing door to close. it came open when my daughter had it at college. there was a police report done and no evidence of a break in was found. it happened in florence, al at the university of north alabama. she said it was parked when it happened.

Hood latch in front of the vehicle is faulty. ford dealer mechanic explained it is a common issue due to the slack in the cable and style of system. said that when they repair issues they tighten the cable to ensure proper operation. $1175 to repair a common issue due to faulty engineering. 2013 and 2014 units are the on my 2 years manufactured this way. leads one to believe, ford knows there is an issue.

I've had my 3rd door latch fail on this car. door will not shut. latches failed twice previously, once while the vehicle was in motion. the first and the third time failure occurred while parked. this complaint is the same as the item covered in recall campains 17v210000 and 15v246000 but ford has refused to repair my vehicle under these recall campaigns stating my vehicle is not included in the recall. clearly with three failed door latches my vehicle suffers from the same defect, and should have been included in the recall for defective door latches. i do not feel safe with my family in this vehicle.

Was driving at a slow rate and my daughter was in front passenger seat and door opened and will not close.

The door will not shut. i saw a news report where the was a recall but ford says my car was not eligible. came open ad i was driving.*dt*jb

2013 ford fusion door locks. lat year 2017, i received a recall notice on the above vehicle for "doors opening by themselves whilst driving. well, just prior to getting the locks replaced, my rear passenger door flew open upon turning a corner on a busy main road and thankfully my passenger was wearing a seatbelt as they almost fell out of the car. i had the locks replaced by the dealership on january 24th 2017. well, to my surprise last sunday july 8th, 2018, my wife was in the front passenger seat and again, i turned a corner on a busy main road and the door flew open while i was driving. she too almost fell out of the car. i called the dealer and they ordered a new front door lock and replaced it yesterday july 10th 2018. however, i was informed that ford would not cover the cost and i was charged $257.21. the dealer said that they contacted ford who refused to pay for it because they said that they had already replaced the locks in 2017. i called ford and they told me the same thing and refused to reimburse me for this. this could have resulted in my wife's death and i need some help rectifying this problem. as a matter of fact, i am afraid to drive my car at this point in the event that this happens again. please help.

I was sitting in the passenger seat as my wife took an exit to get off the highway and the passanger side door randomly flew open as we were turning on the ramp.if i did not have my seat belt on i may have fell out!

First incident was opening car door to retrieve belongings. shut door and it would not latch shut. husband was able to get the door to shut but then it opened while driving the next day. bungied the door shut and took to mechanic to have it replaced after contacting 3 for dealerships that said our vin number was not part of the recall

The front passenger door latch (will not catch or lock). it has a faulty latch leaving door to fly open. it will only lock on it's own after putting the vehicle in drive and drive for a few minutes and then it locks. very dangerous.

Passenger door latch (front seat) broken without warning, unable to keep door closed when moving.. i was informed by the dealer that the latch problem on this vehicle was not included with the fusion door latch recall that affected other 2013 fusions. dealer has now fixed the latch and at first was going to charge me the entire $500 cost until i called ford directly where they agreed (ford) to pay most of the cost but not replace other unaffected door latches. though my out of pocket cost was only $53.50, my concern is that the previous fusion recall did not go far enough to include other 2013 ford fusions that may have the same issue. i am concerned for the safety of other occupants in the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 50 mph, the rear passenger side door opened without warning. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and attempted to close the door with string. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall at vicksburg ford, lincoln, mazda (2431 n frontage rd, vicksburg, ms 39180). the contact stated that the front door on the passenger side also experienced the same failure. the vehicle was taken to the same dealer, but was not repaired again. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the recall information was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 169,000. *tt

Rear passenger door latch does not latch. this was apparently supposed to be fixed december 2013.

The car won't start! i was told by ford to replace the keyfob battery. so i did. i replaced the car battery and the keyfob battery and this car will not start.

My 74yr old mom hit a 1 foot tall concrete barrier (picture attached) at a county rural recycling center resulting in all 4 airbags to deploy. barrier isn't painted, no fence, no railing or pole to mark it. minor damage (photo attached) to the auto, bosch recorder shows <15 mph (file too large to attach). car is in a storage unit in iowa for evidence. mom's prognosis was subdural hematoma, encephalopathy and uncal herniation resulting in her death (see attached). medical examiner determined cause of death was the car accident. in addition to the issue with the airbags, my step-dad (84 years old) was in the passenger side and also was hit by airbags. while the airbags saved him, he was quite bruised/injured. emergency response was not requested. we (my family) believe that considering the age of our parents and the fact my mom was hit in the side of the face - more caution (state law requiring medical attention) should be exerted by all police officers in this situation (police report attached). we take all kinds of precautions with kids on the sports fields, why not the elderly? my mom was obviously suffering from confusion and concussion. tragically, we lost her to a safety feature. uncomprehensible. *bf *tt

Takata recall: we have received three recalls, 2014 (airbag), 2015 (door latch), and 2016 (seatbelt) which were told we are on a waiting list because our light wasn't on and they would call us when parts came in. just received notification in mail about takata recall. ford dealer never notified us and i want these fixed immediately.

Got into the car to leave the store and the passenger side door would not latch. examined the door and the latch was broken. ran the seatbelt through the handle to keep door shut. took to dealer and had them replace a broken door latch. checked to see if car was covered under recall for exact problem, but it was not for some reason.
