We have classified the 108 complaints from 2013 Ford Fusion about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
On february 5, 2017 the engine of my 2013 ford fusion caught on fire. the car began to smoke from under the hood while the car was in motion. i stopped and opened the hood to inspect and the engine was already in flames. the fire spread rapidly and the fire department had to be called to extinguish the blaze. my son and i were barely able to escape unharmed. i contacted ford on several occasions and they have been unwilling assist. they closed my original claim without addressing the issue. i also asked if there were any recalls related to engine fires and they state no. i feel i am unable to get any attention to this matter that put both mine and my son's lives in danger and also destroyed the sizeable investment i made into the purchase of a brand new vehicle. please assist!

Electronic throttle body malfunction, car was parked in a parking lot and after returning to my car i started it and put it into drive, as soon as i let of the brake and touched the gas peddle the car maxed out in rpm and the car accelerated on its own even after pushing on the brake resulting crashing into a light pole.
Left my house drove 5 miles, stopped to sisters house to drop off an item, 2-3 minutes later walked outside and found flames coming out of the hood on the passenger side near windshield. barely able to open door quick enough to get my purse out and it was engulfed. woke up a neighbor who came over with a truck to drag it away from house and garage. wasn't for him my sisters house would been lost as it took 25 minutes for fire department to show up. only thing not burned is the taillights. obviously there was an issue in the engine compartment. have read about a recall for this specific model for this specific reason. feeling like my insurance is not going to be very helpful with damages. what else can be done?
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving between 5 to 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle on the first attempt. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000. the vin was not available.
Power steering system fault came on the dash. pressed the ok button and then noticed balls of fire coming from under the vehicle. i then tried to pull over. i couldn't brake, press the gas, or turn the steering wheel. the car then burst into flames and then the vehicle exploded and burned.
Yesterday i purchased a vehicle through an auto broker from manheim atlanta. no more than 6 hours later the vehicle caught fire while i was driving it and exploded multiple times. 7:30pm i was driving on 285 headed home and i noticed a warning on my dash stating that the power steering assistance has a fault at the same time i noticed balls of fire coming from underneath my car. i tried to get to the shoulder however the engine seized hindering me from doing anything. by the time the car slowed the interior was filled with smoke, i jumped out then the car exploded multiple times. *tr
November 2016 while i was coming from the grocery store my car suddenly stalled and completely stopped. i immediately started the car back up and drove for a good 2 minutes and it did the same thing, but this time i was in the street. after letting my vehicle sit for 15 minutes it did eventually start back up and drove smoothly. but that wasn't the last time my car would just suddenly stop. in december i took my car to the dealership for an oil change and told them what had happen to my car. the check my fluids and told me nothing was wrong (which was a lie). everyday since november if i drive my car too much, it shuts off. if i am on the freeway in traffic, my car will just turn off. now february, i received an error message (engine coolant over temperature) and my car will not move at all. call ford motor and was told my car wasn't included in the recall in regards to the engine, contact the dealership and i have to pay for it to be towed to them , because the part might not be included in my warranty. my car has 76,000. i do my oil changes and maintenance on time, and always go to the dealership. my car lights in the inside turns on while i'm driving without me even pushing them (creepy). my seat belt doesn't really restrain me and my seat doesn't really move back and forwards like it should.
This car (2013 ford fusion ecoboost) is 3 years old with only 50k miles. at slow speeds such as pulling out of a parking lot or coasting to a slow speed at a light or stop sign the engine just dies like it ran out of gas. you have to pull over and stop the car. you then have to restart the car. after a few seconds it starts just fine. it's random but becoming more frequent. it happened 3 times to my wife the other day. it's a safety concern and dangerous to drive in heavy traffic. the dealer said it's probably the electonic throttle body a very well known issue according to postings. part is $700 and labor $200 for a part that is covered under warranty for other ford fusions but not the ecoboost! my last ford fusion had the same problem. that cost me $500. i guess i didn't learn my lesson then but i've learned my lesson now. will get rid of this car and never buy ford again. i look at every ford fusion on the road now as a death trap waiting to happen. i hope to get rid of mine in time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 25 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. as a result, the vehicle crashed into a curb on the opposite side of the street. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. there were no injuries reported. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic steering failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 39,297.
I have a recall on my car to replace the transmition cable. i had this same problem back in 2016. i knew back then that this was a big issue and that it was a defective recall issue and i paid $571.25 to fix a tranmission shifter cable. i still have the receipt and all the notes that the dealership wrote and it matches this recall. i filed acomplaint with nhtsa and no action taken back then and i feel since this is a recall that i should have never paid out of pocket for this recall and i feel i should get a refund from ford. i almost died when i lost control of my gear shift and i had my children in the car when i lost control of my 2013 ford fusion on 9/16/16. i could not get my car gear to shift at all and it was moving by itself. if it wasnt for the emergency brake me and my two children would have crashed and got injured or imjury someone else. i have all my paperwork and would like to speak with someone from i knew back then that this was a manufacturer/defective in 2016, and received a letter dated aug 2018 that there is a recall that i paid full price to repair and filed a complaint with nhtsa about it, but no action was taken back then. i would like to fule a complaint.
I was driving my 2013 ford fusion, 1.6l ecoboost to work when i noticed the engine started overheating while i was driving up a hill. i saw smoke coming from the engine and pulled over. as i did this, someone driving by said they saw flames coming from under my car. i immediately pulled the car onto some pavement and got out to check. i saw flames dripping from the oil reservoir. i grabbed my backpack and started running up the hill to my office, which was only about 100 yards away, to get a fire extinguisher. as i started running, i heard a loud woosh sound and saw that the entire front of the car had burst into flames. less than a minute after i had gotten out of the car. the flames were about 15 feet high and luckily didn't ignite the dry, grassy hillside. the fire department came after about 20 minutes and put out the fire.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the rear doors were re-opening involuntarily and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred on several occasions. the failure mileage was 80,000.
I replaced my battery 2 weeks ago, because my car kept not starting with push start, this happened 4 times in july 2016. the push button would not start my car, and left me stranded 4 times, i got a jump each time. on 8-30-16 i picked my son up from school, and went back to my car to push start it, and all of the power is functional, except the a/c and the push start will not start. i called fariway ford in burgaw, and they could care less, i am stranded. i researched this and it's saying it could be something to do with the anti theft system, or some type of module. my car only has 29,000 miles on it, and it's not under warranty. there has got to be a recall on this, it's a safety issue, what if it died while i was driving down the street. my brakes and steering are gone too. i can't depress the break, or turn the wheel without a lot of effort.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while attempting to turn the vehicle, the power steering assist became difficult to operate. the steering wheel suddenly began to vibrate and the power steering assist warning light illuminated. the instrument panel also indicated many other warning lights and functions were being activated that were not in use. the vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic and dealer. both stated that the power assist failed and there was also an electrical failure. the contact was unable to recall the actual electrical failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was unknown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while still at the dealer. the technician stated that the fuel gauge needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 44,000. updated 09/27/16*lj *js
We purchased the car this past saturday and on sunday, the passenger door ajar light came on. the car cannot be completely locked due to the sensor 'thinking' that the front passenger door is not shut, when in fact it is. also the alarm goes off when we try to remotely lock the car.
The electric motor on the front passenger seat stopped working and without manual controls the seat cannot be adjusted.
The air bag light on the dash came on. i took it into the ford dealership and they claimed that the wiring harness under the seat was crushed , supposedly by an empty jelly jar that was under neath the seat on the drivers side. i have the jelly jar and its not even broken . ford claims its my fault and to get in touch withmy insurance company which i have but since the light (airbag ) light has come on, my seat doesn't work does not move back or forward and the light that tells if if the seat belt is fastened doesn't work. i haven't heard back from my insurance company but im wondering if more fusion owners than just me have had this problem with the wiring harness and if the problem is due to the location of the wiring harness rather than the jelly jar which is unbroken. i am a 72 year old woman and although im slightly overweight , i cannot imagine how my weight and the jelly jar could disable the whole case. it doesn't look crushed but i'm taking it to my mechanic tomorrow and having him take the seat out and look at the wiring harness. the vehicle was stationary when the light came on about a week ago.
My 2013 ford fusion has a problem every time i refuel it. 1) it does not turn on when i finished pumping gas, i have to keep trying to turn it on and or step on gas peddle for it to turn on, also i have to have my ac off cause i get this horrible smell and at one point saw fumes coming out from my air vents which i then suddenly turn off the ac but my vehicle had also turned off by it self. 2) it has turned off twice while i drive off from the gas station, on the safe side it turned off before i even made it to the street/road. i then had a recall on it and took it for service for something involving the door handles at that time i reported my problem to a ford mechanic/personnel and the gentle men advised me he will not be replacing the problem since it was not on the recall and it would have to be payed from my pocket, which i dont have the budget for it, and 3) while i was driving home from work about a 15 mile drive from neighboring city, my vehicle had lost power and started slowing down at which point i realized it had turned off on the highway at speed of 50-60mphs while my shift was in drive and my key was turned in the on position. this was at night time since i work the afternoon i then slowed down to the shoulder of the highway and turned it back on with out a problem, the following day it did not do the same thing and as of 12/19/2017, i have seen report of the ford explorer with similarities of the smell but did not find of the ford fusion which i would like to report this issue.
Returned home from an hour trip and pulled into my driveway. turned off the car, went inside, came out 30 mins later, attempted to start the car and dead silence. radio and all other electrical components were still working. checked the odb with an odb reader and no codes. called aaa who came out and tested the battery and found it fully charged and working. they then checked several fuses and all worked fine. as a last resort, he completely pulled and disinfected the battery, waited 2-3 minutes reconnected it, waited another 2-3 minutes and then the car started. he felt it had something to do with the unit-theft shutting down the car preventing the key to turn. called ford and they never heard of it. went online and found a number of issues relating to ford vehicles, newer, as in 2010 and newer that encounter this issue and/or a ground issue due to painting on the ground area. concern is, this time it shut down in my driveway, what would happen if it shutdown while being driven?
I have noted the electronic throttle body (etb) malfunction affecting ford fusion 2009-2013 models with 2.5/3.0l engines and the related nhtsa investigation pe 13-003, along with ford's customer satisfaction program 13n03. i have also noted the power loss issue described in another 2013 ford fusion owner's experience (nhtsa complaint id #10810590. both seem to be related to the problem i am now having with my 2013 ford fusion se, which is the ecoboost model with the 1.6l turbo charged engine. after getting an obd warning along with rough engine operation and lower-than-expected fuel efficiency, the dealership replaced the canister purge valve and noted that the oil minder would not reset. that repair was performed under warranty during thanksgiving weekend 2015. soon after, on december 6th, the car experienced power loss on two occasions upon leaving parking lots; in other words, the failure occurred at low speed within a minute of driving away from the parking space. the engine sputtered (ran roughly) then lost power, with no warning lights appearing on the instrument panel. the same problem occurred again a few days before christmas, with that occurrence also taking place upon leaving a parking lot. furthermore, it happened again on dec. 29th and on january 2, 2016, with the latter time occurring immediately turning onto nolensville road from a parking lot. with all of those instances happening in nashville, tn, cold weather was not a factor. engine temperature was not at a factor as the car's most recent failures have occurred with the engine still warm. since this problem began after the aforementioned canister purge valve replacement, i am going to have the dealership revisit that work and determine the reason why i am not seeing a warning light when this dangerous situation occurs. i will also have the car evaluated for the aforementioned etb problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. during weather changes, the electronic vent function failed to work each year. the dealer was not notified. an independent mechanic replaced the pig wiring, resistor, and blower motor four times, but the failure continued. the windshield failed to defrost, the vent controls failed to function for the heat, and the contact had a loss of visibility and electronic function to warm the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000. *tt *tr
When the car was started it indicated a safety sensor wasn't working. everything else seemed fine. while driving down the road the air/defrost system stopped working causing windows to fog, i also lost control over the volume and all of the console systems. only 2 of the windows would go down. before i was able to pull over (about 5 minutes) everything started working and at the same time while driving my electronic seat started moving forward. finally stopping maybe in one of the pre-programed positions. we have had prior issues this past winter with losing control over the console controls and the heat shutting off. this is the first time having issues with the seat moving on its own while driving. nothing was done because we were informed that there was no code given when we brought it in to be fixed and since it was not exhibiting the problem at the time it was in the shop there was nothing they could do. we have been trying to get the electric windows fixed since owning the car. the fact that they only work intermittently may or may not be related to these other incidents.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 70 mph, the power shut off. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the mechanic stated that the battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
I was driving on the freeway, and for 2-3 seconds the dash, instrument cluster, climate and entertainment controls went dark and gave no readings. then the car chimed like it does at startup and the controls and speedometer came back.
Takata recall my car caught fire and burned. the fire started while driving but i was unaware. i just kept smelling popcorn smell. i then got to my destination , parked the car 5 min. later the fire department came in and asked if any was driving a white ford fusion. it's was bbot quit 2 years old and had less then 50 k miles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 32,000.
Friends and i rented a 2013 ford fusion from hertz while on a trip last weekend. the computer display that controls the ac and other functions shut down midway through the trip. the car ran well enough to drive, so we continued driving it for the remainder of the trip. i was seated behind the driver. i noticed a slight headache earlier in the trip after being in the car. after the ac/heat functions shut down, i got a major headache plus nausea. the other back seat passenger also got a headache, thought less severe. only after i was out of the car and in fresh air did the headache dissipate slowly. i suspect that, without positive air pressure in the car's cabin, that exhaust gases are drawn into the car while it's moving. this same phenomenon occurred to me about 14 years ago. i am concerned that modern cars draw exhaust into the cars--obviously dangerous. *tr
Took vehicle in for a number of issues, two of which were the left turn signal would shut off prematurely to completing a left hand turn and also both side view mirrors (mostly drivers side) would always reset itself to some random position other than the one i set them too whenever the vehicle would receive power, (when car is off and i would either open any door or press unlock on key fob or use keyless entry) mirror issue is easily duplicated (turn car off and open door to cut power, close door, lock car, and must wait at least 1 minute for all power to fully shut off, then unlock car and mirrors would randomly move around, almost as if they were trying to calibrate themselves) dealer witnessed mirror issue as it's easily recreated, did a bunch of updates of various control modules and then said car is fixed. car was however not fixed as i went to use my turn signal to exit dealer parking lot, the turn signals now would not stay on at all for either turning direction. i must now hold up or down on turn signal lever in order to keep signals blinking, also the mirrors still randomly move when energizing vehicle. dealer unable to trouble shoot issue further as tech was leaving now much drive my car with malfunction mirrors and even worse turn signal issue caused by the updates they did perform. unhappy and no courtesy vehicle offered. *js
When returning to vehicle i noticed the my ford touch radio was still on. went to drive away in car and power steering failed to work. all turn signal indicators failed to work as i drove away. the defrost, heating, and cooling controls failed to work. the speedometer failed to work. the 2 lcd screens on the dashboard with the fuel display and tachometer displayed only a white background. the power door locks failed to work. the radio will not turn off when the vehicle is exited and the problems where also repeated at the vehicle dealership. this is a safety issue when the power steering, turn signals, speedometer and defrost fail to work with no warning. *tr
We were leaving the bowling alley and backing up out of a parking space when our car just cut off. the lights are not dim and we tried to boost it from a friend's battery just to make sure it wasn't the battery. the radio and everything works inside the car, but there is not even a clicking noise when we turn the key so it isn't even attempting to cut on. we are going to the military sales office today since we are out of the u.s. when we bought it less than 7 months ago. *tr
I was driving sw bound on hwy 20 in loganville, ga when my car surged and powered off at 50 mph 'the vehicle turned off on a very busy road. i just bought this car last year. this is the second time this has happened this first time it happened ford replaced my entire steering column. i had zero steering capability, the engine was off and unresponsive and all of my electronic panels went dark except for a message saying "transmission is not in park" and the engine warning light (yellow) came on. i was able to hit the hazard lights and barely inch to the right side on the highway. there was a truck behind me that had to make an evasive lange change maneuver to the left in order to avoid collision. once i came to a stop i immediately turned my video camera on my phone and started documenting what was happening in the vehicle. i have this video readily available for you if you need it to further your investigation. *tr
Tl* the contact owned a 2013 ford fusion. while driving 5 mph, another vehicle slightly struck the driver side bumper of the contact's vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. twenty minutes later, a popping sound emitted from inside the steering wheel and smoke appeared from the dashboard. the vehicle shut off independently and the contact hastily exited the vehicle. the fire department was contacted and the firefighters had to rip apart the entire dashboard in order to extinguish the fire. the fire department was unable to determine the source of the fire. a police and fire report were filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the contact did not sustain any injuries. the manufacturer and dealer were made aware of the incident. the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v597000 (air bags, seat belts). the failure mileage was 15,000.
One of ford's advertised safety system is the cross traffic alert (cta) and backup sensors that alert the driver to someone immediately behind the vehicle or approaching the vehicle from the sides. we noticed that we could not hear the safety alert from the rear of the car under normal conditions. i decided to measure the loudness of the alerts to see how the they compared to normal levels. all measurements were taken at the driver's seat using dba since this weights the sound to match the contour of the human ear. the forward sensors measure at 55 dba which is at the mid-point of normal communication (50-60 dba) and is quite noticeable under all conditions. the rear safety alert measures at 40 dba which is a little bit above a soft whisper. normal communication is between 10 and 100 times louder. when you get in your hot car in a parking lot the a/c is on high it measures 70 dba. this is when you need the safety system to work when backing out of a parking spot. problem is the noise from the a/c is 1,000 times louder than the safety alert rendering it inaudible unless you turn your head and lean into the back seat area, then a faint safety alert can be heard. i complained to ford and this was assigned a case number cas-4970853. i thought it was just my car because a friend of mine has a fusion energi same year and his is a little louder about 46 dba. the dealership could find nothing wrong and ford said there was nothing they could do to fix it. i asked for the specification on the sound level so i could verify my car was within spec. i was told they do not have a spec, which means as long as it makes a sound it's good. if this is true it's an unforgivable lapse in quality. i was told all the hybrids are much lower level than the non-hybrids which makes this a fleet-wide safety issue. workaround: turn your radio up and it will mute when a safety alert occurs
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power without warning. the vehicle was towed to long-lewis ford lincoln (2551 john hawkins pkwy in hoover, al) where it was diagnosed that the battery was defective and needed to be replaced. the failure was remedied, but the failure recurred. the contact stated that the battery was replaced on three other occasions for the same failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Not happy with my vehicle if my first time buying a ford for my family. after i purchased the vehicle i found out it already had recalls and the dealer at ford and didn't notify me about it i really don't feel safe at all driving the vehicle. i made a request with ford motor company for a buy back on my vehecle. at that time it was denied because there was only one recall. well now there is eight and i request for a second time for a buy back i really need to return this vehicle so that i could really spend a little more money and get in to a benz or bmw
Front passenger door latch failed. door would not lock. drove car to dealership. currently still there, door latch was ordered, waiting on repair to be completed. this is our second door latch failure in less than two months. first failure was the rear passenger door latch. complaint was filed for that as well. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion eco boost. while driving approximately 55 mph, the entire electrical system failed and there were no warning lights illuminated. the contact shifted the vehicle into neutral gear and restarted it. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the mechanic stated that the failure occurred because the battery needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact did es not think the battery caused the failure to occur since the vehicle restarted without being jump started. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 9,100.
I am leasing my car brand new. i went to get in it to go to work and i had a few of the sensor/warning lights come up (als, airbag, oil, and more). it eventually went off throughout the day. the following day i went to start it and it hesitated and then went crazy with almost every sensor/warning light, ding, noise, flashing lights everything going off. i called and told the local dealership that and that i needed an oil change. i dropped the car off on friday and they said it'd probably take the weekend. they called and said they fixed it but when they went to drive it, it did the same thing. they have determined that the rcm need replaced. now, nearly 6 weeks later, i still don't have my car, the part is apparently on back order, they can't find one, etc. i have heard many excuses and at least they put me in a rental. but at this point, i am paying for a brand new car i can't drive and ford doesn't want to do anything about it. this is extremely irritating. *tr
I was exiting from the highway, and all of a sudden, all of the warning lights came on (abs, traction control, airbags, hill assist, etc.). all systems became unoperational while i was driving, which caused me great concern. i brought it into the dealership the next morning (the issue was still happening), and they kept it for two weeks because the affected part, a restraint control module (rcm), was on national backorder. they said the car was unsafe to drive, and, if i had gotten in an accident, the airbags wouldn't have deployed. i have read about a number of other people with 2013 fusions with the same exact defective part, so this issue should probably be investigated. *tr
Rear passenger side door would not lock. car was towed to dealership. service advisor said it was the 4th fusion with the same problem and was waiting on parts. door latch on rear pass. door was replaced. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fusion. while driving approximately 70 mph, the exterior and interior lighting shut off. after driving a little further, all the lights illuminated again; however, the failure recurred. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there were no failures. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
Purchased vehicle new in feb 2013. has shut down 4 times while in motion. 3 were in town at slow speeds first time was around summertime the first or second year, but the last was 12/24/2015 on the interstate running a steady 75 mph in the inside lane in very heavy traffic. only by the grace of god was i able to maneuver it to the shoulder without getting run over! each time the dash goes black and engine (and power steering/brakes) shuts of. there were no warning lights before or after the shut down. only thing still working was the radio. (it normally plays until you open the door anyway) each time it started right up after stopping. has been in for repair 3 times. no fault codes present and service tech "could not replicate the problem", so nothing has been done, other than the numerous recalls that have been issued. i no longer feel safe in this car!!! i have contacted ford customer satisfaction center and registered a complaint with them.their response was to take it to another ford dealer for a second opinion. that is very inconvenient due to the next dealer being 2 hours away and they would need to keep the car for a day or two to try to "replicate the problem". it is very sporadic. it could be six months before it does it again. a very dissatisfied customer!!!
the left and right turn signals have malfunctioned, i.e., they either do not stay on longer than one flash cycle, or they shut off prematurely. the function is not being confused with the 3 flash lane change feature this feature works 100% of the time. premature shutting off of the turn signal typically (but not always) occurs when making a turn from a full stop. when the signal is actuated, it flashes for 10 30 seconds while sitting at a stop light (wheels are positioned straight ahead). when the traffic light changes and i just begin to turn the wheel, the signal shuts off. the immediate shut off issue does not happen as frequently as the premature issue, but when it does happen, i cannot get the turn signal to function for more than one flash at a time. both described issues have occurred since the vehicle was about 3 months old. this issue will be reported for the first time when the vehicle goes in for its next service. *tr

After purchase of ford fusion 2013 from northampton ford northampton, ma 01060 for several months air bag light would come on and go off at different speeds including the alarm bell even on highway. they finally took it in and said it was a electrical housing under seat. i no longer trust this car because the number of recalls ans reported troubles about make and model, mainly air bag. when i called dealership repair center they were rude and continue to state do not have parts to fix recalls. i feel ford or the dealership should buy my car back for what i owe, it is a lemon. i no longer trust the product to have my son drive it.
Traveling home at 35mph, vehicle lurched and lost power - was able to drive 15 mph max speed the 3 miles home, but vehicle barely accelerated after slowing or stopping. power train light and airbag light came on. as vehicle driven into garage, dashboard lighting went off suddenly, but vehicle accelerated with effort into garage. four hours later at 10pm, started vehicle, no warning lights came on dash. morning of december 10, called dealership. they advised if the light did not come on this morning, then they would not be able to diagnose problem. vehicle drove normally to work with no warning lights. dealership said there was low voltage on the accelerator causing problem and they ordered parts and "fixed" it on december 18th, but on december 24th, i was on interstate at 55 mph, vehicle on cruise control. speed limit increased to 60mph, began adjusting cruise control speed via thumb button on steering wheel column. after three thumb "clicks" to 58mph, vehicle lurched and lost power and began immediately decelerating. power train light and airbag light came on. pulled to right berm and shut off engine. over the next 37 minutes, attempted to start vehicle every 5-6 minutes. on six different attempts, the vehicle revved as accelerator applied but the engine never "caught" or turned over, it would die as soon as the accelerator pedal released. on 7th attempt, the vehicle turned over, and i was able to proceed to the next exit. since the car seemed to be running normally, i risked it and tried to get the vehicle home, knowing that a tow at 8pm on christmas eve would be expensive and timely. the power train light and airbag light remained on for the 8 mile trip home. the next day, vehicle operated "normally" with no power train light or airbag light. second occurrence. *tr
This is the third time the 12 volt battery has died while the car has been sitting for 24 hours or more. the fusion energi titanium was in the shop for 10 days and the dealer finally replaced the battery after running extensive tests. each time this happens, the car is totally disabled and has to be jumped. this issue tends to happen when it is very hot outside or the car is sitting in the sun. the high voltage battery fans will run when the car is stopped in traffic and when you power off the car. *tr
