Problems with 2012 Ford Fusion UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2012 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 66 430 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2012 Ford Fusion

The inside drivers side door latch did not lock when the vehicle was in motion (the other three door latches did). i was driving approximately 12 mph on a residential street. the door latch remains in the extended open position. the door can only be opened from the outside to exit or enter the vehicle. the door can not be locked manually or using the key fob. i am unable to exit the vehicle normally. to exit i have to roll down the window, open the door from the outside, then in order to roll the window up again i have to get in through another door, insert the key and reach over to the drivers side. these are safety issues.

While driving my vehicle the drivers side door opened by itself and the door would not latch after this occured .

The driver side door latch and lock are broke. you cannot open the car door from the inside, you can only open it by rolling down the windows. sometimes it wont shut properly and sometimes it is also a struggle to open it from the outside (as if that option of opening it might be gone soon). the first occurence happened while i was in a stationary position.

My throttle body is giving me issues. it will hesitate and react as if it will stall on occasion when i am on the highway, it will jerk badly. no engine lights appear on my dash, however i was notified by ford there is a replacement extended warranty, yet that extension does not cover the initial charge from the dealer to check the throttle body out, which is dead wrong of ford. i believe they should cover any and all charges regarding this the throttle body. in addition my vehicles rack and pinion or pwer steering sueels alot while in driving, ive check fluid levels and they are normal, yet it will make alot of noise.

The car was parked on ignition on. my mother, alice, went out in the evening to close the sunroof. the sunroof did not look like it was closing, so my mother reached up her hand to feel. her fingers were then closed and locked into the sunroof. the open button would not work to release her hand. neighbors came to help, turned of the car and turned it back on again to try and open the roof, but it would not open to release her fingers. crowbars were used to try and release the frame from her hand, but it would not budge. police had to break the glass of the sunroof to release the frame from her hand. this is a huge safety concern. if a child's hand would have been caught it would have been crushed. they need to have an emergency senser to never close and lock in place if there is an obstruction, or an emergency release. now, my mother has to face medical and insurance costs. i type this in her presence on her behalf, due to her right fingers being injured. with the grace of god, no bones were broken. anyone can relate to how painful and traumatizing it was for her to have her hand clamped and locked in place with no release.

I have been having issues with the throttle body. yesterday, when pulling out onto the highway, my throttle body light came on and my car would not pick up speed. i was almost rear ended. i was pressing the gas, but it would not pick up at all. i have a 4 year-old daughter. this is very dangerous. i don't want to be driving and have to worry about if my car is going to stall as i enter traffic. the throttle body should be recalled!

When i turned on the fan to circulate heat or cool air nothing happened. the blower motor for the ac and heating has failed 3 times in the last 4 years; 12/13/2013, 6/24/2015, and 5/26/2016. the last time the ford dealer had to replace the entire wiring harness as well. the last repair cost $730. angela keevis, ford motor company customer service manager, told me there was nothing they could do for me since i had already paid for the repair. my son needed the car for his high school senior prom so i needed to pay the bill asap.

Purchased a 2012 fusion sel with 35xxx miles in feb16. during the summer of 2016, the a/c blower began to function intermittently ' manipulation of the wire harness supplying power to the resistor would cause the blower to turn on/off. the blower only ran at one speed (i.e. the resistor was bad). the blower and resistor were replaced. the issue is once again occurring at ~80,000 miles. this is a well-documented complaint (blower pull too much current and fries the resistor) with this vehicle and, oftentimes, ford dealers are only replacing/repairing the blower and resistor. however, in my experience (and likely many others), the wire harness also needed to be replaced to correct the issue as continuity through the wiring is also affected when this issue first occurs. this is an obvious manufacturing defect that ford is not addressing. furthermore, their dealerships/service center personnel are not adequately educated on how to permanently correct this issue (this is evident by the number of complaints that reference the issue recurring after only the blower motor and resistor are replaced). they are charging fusion owners $500+ to put a temporary band aid on an electrical issue that should be well understood by now.

Passenger seat belt light come on and stays on. the seat belt warning goes of after fastening but if it's taken off during the trip, never another warning.

Driver side interior door opener broke. to me this could be quite serious what if i'm in a crash and car caught fire with door not opening properly i could burn to a crispy crunch.in a situation like that it would be good to be able to get at as soon as possible don't ya think?

The drivers side door latch is broken, door bounce back, will not lock.. i have to lift the handle and push the latch up to shut the car door.

Driving at 60 mph i could hear friction worsens and car would lose momentum easily because of the friction. then i start to hear a knocking sound somewhere in the engine perhaps or the wheel unsure and as all that worsens, i can feel the car losing control like it's gotten a flat tire. power steering got stiffer while the car kind of drifted left and then right as tho i was going to lose control of the vehicle. it was really scary so i immediately slowed down because i had no control on the steering.

Takata recall i have a vibration coming from the front end at high way speeds. seems to be the front passenger side. vibration only occurs during the speeds of 50 to 60 mph. anything above or below that is fine. i have had new tires, tires rotated, balanced, alignment, and just an over all inspection with no results.

Dirivers side interior door latch not working, have to open window and open door from the outside.

The driver door handle locks the minute you close the door, and both the driver and passanger side handles broke at the same time.ford wants to charge me over $440.00 to fix them. this is an item that should be fixed through our warranties they cost an arm and a leg. their service mananger larry tate acted like he did not care when i talked to him about the situation. this has also happened to another ford fusion that my mother-n-law drives.

2012 fusion and we have already changed the rotors... && multiple tires... always getting the tire pressure symbol && now there is an eletrical problem for the power steering... many of the fuses are missing from where the manual said they should be... may have to pay thousands to get it fixed && still its just a 2012... id expect something like this on a car thats 7-10 years old but not 3...

Turned on a/c and it only would blow hot air. tried several times, some times hot, some times cold. tech at ford replaced blend door actuator, said actuator was not moving. fix lasted 5 minutes, then started blowing hot air again.

While driving at 45-50mph the engine lost all power and the wrench light came on. i pulled over and the car started to skip and turned off. i sat a few minutes and cranked the car again. the light was off and the car went with no problem.i took it to a shop to see if any codes would show in the computer. nothing showed. the following day i was driving at 60mph and it did the exact same thing. i took it back to the shop a code p2111 "throttle actuator control system stuck open" showed. on the way home, driving at 50mph it did the exact same thing again.

After parking vehicle and re-entering, i discovered the driver door handle locking mechanism is broken. i am unable to lock the door either manually or with the key fob.

Driver's side front door would not open from the interior. had to roll windows down and open from the outside. upon further inspection, the lever, inside the door was broken off and would not engage the door release. the entire door handle component was replaced. there was no abnormal use or forces applied to the handle, and the handle itself seems to be intact and operational from visual inspection.

The drivers side door handle became unlatched and was able to be pushed open while the door was shut. the door is able to be opened from the outside while the vehicle is "locked" because the door handle does not latch correctly.

I bought a 2012 ford fusion july 8, 2015. i noticed the drivers side inside door handle was a little floppy and not flush like the other handles. then, i discovered when i use the lock button on my key fob, the drivers side door does not lock. have to use key hole lock. i know there is a recall on the newer models, i think this model needs a recall as well!

On 06/25/2015 ,i took my car to the ford dealer to have door handle mechanism repaired..i was trapped in my car and i could not get out.they repaired it at my cost,inv254478,$174.14.which it should have been repaired under safety defect.the door could not be locked and in a accident the door could fly open.on 08/17/2015 the other door (passenger side) had the same problem.i took the car into the ford dealership and i was advised by joe alvarado that the safety defect was not covered past 30,000 miles.i could not enter part.

I bought this car used in june of this year, 2015. the drivers side door will not lock or unlock by using the remote. sometimes it will unlock with remote but never will lock!

Power steering error cam up on display and steering was hard to turn.

Backed out of a parking spot and turned into a car coming around the corner, backup sensors did not go off until after the impact. nobody was hurt but the bumper was damaged by the accident. the sensors were on at the time of the accident.

The air blower for heat/ac and the front window defroster stopped working. this re-occurred in february 2015 and june 2015.

At first the rpm's would increase ( around 500 rpm's) when the car upshifted when it was cold. as the motor and transmission warmed up the increase in rpm's upon upshift lessened. it appeared to me that the transmission was "slipping" as it went through the gears...you could hear the engine speed up and watch the tach to confirm what i was hearing from the engine. i took car to dealer and they checked it out. they said everything was functioning normally however the car still does it. note that the car was under the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty at the time and the service advisor said that the car has a 60k powertrain warranty anyway. i did not like his statement. the problem seems to be getting worse as it sometimes revs between shifts when it is warmed up. ford should step up and review my problem further. i plan to take the car to another ford dealer to see what they say. please advise.

I have had numerous problems with stalling, loss of acceleration, dying with my fusion. it hesitates when driving and stalls when driving and stopped. the wrench and engine light are on again. i am very concerned for my safety due to these issues as there is never any warning of when it's going to occur. i have previously had my throttle body repaired/replaced but the same problems continue.

On 10/5/2013, i had to call roadside rescue to jump start car. i took vehicle to advance auto on 10/6/2013 to test battery. the printout results found, indicator light was yellow, cold cranking amps 500 on battery, temperature was to high at 124degrees. on 10/7/2013, call roadside rescue to jumpstart vehicle. i let the vehicle idle for a bit, hoping to recharge the battery back to full function. on 10/8/2013 called roadside rescue to jumpstart vehicle for the 3rd time and then drove to ford dealership. with great hesitation, ford replaced the battery. i had to tell the technician to look at the battery's yellow light. *tr

Driving along at around 40 miles per hour, then notice the loss of power, a bright yellow light appeared on the dash - stop safely hazard warning (rtt) - which according to the owners handbook indicates hybrid component fault/failure that will cause the vehicle to shutdown (which it had already down, i had a hard time turning the steering wheel). failed to re-start the first time or enter into a limited operating mode, seems like ray skillman ford, greenwood, indiana could not find any problems. this $31,000 vehicle has only 1,400 miles on the clock and per standard operating procedure denies any problems with the vehicle. *tr

Hail damage, paintless dent repair, could be reason for unexplained tire tread wear, and/or knocking sound when backing up and turning. my fusion is still under warranty. please advise with any information that may be helpful.

When shifting from first gear to second gear the car will very roughly go into gear, and second to third and third to fourth is not much better. from fourth to fifth and fifth to sixth is fine most of the time. i had two calibration updates performed by the ford dealership i purchased the car from and was told to drive the car and let the update set in. after both times i noticed that the problem did not go away, instead after the last update the issue progressed. i have pleaded with the dealership to trade my car for another fusion (same value) and they told me i had too much negative equity. instead i was told i could get a ford focus and how ever much i am "upside down" they would roll it over to the price of the focus. i told them that wasn't fair and that i wanted another fusion that did not have transmission problems. i was told that planet ford could not help me and i should get another opinion if i was unhappy. so i went to anderson ford and had the mechanics run diagnostics on it to see if they could identify the problem. while anderson ford was diagnosing my car i was given a rental fusion that was so much better than my car as far as shifting. i also was speaking with ford customer care about my issue and wendy (customer service manager) told me that if anderson ford did not find anything wrong i was going to be stuck with that car. anderson ford reported that no warning codes could be found and the car was fine. i told them the difference i noticed in driving the rental fusion and my fusion and the service manager disregarded it. i was given my car back and was told if i was not comfortable with it i needed to trade it in and deal with the negative equity. i have spoken with several dealers about different cars and i am unable to trade my car in because i have too much negative equity. please help me on thisissue so i can get a car that operates correctly.
