The biggest problem associated with the Ford Fusion 1.5 EcoBoost engine is coolant leaks due to some design oversight in the way its cylinders’ grooves are made. This is a serious issue that can result in engine overheating, misfires and, in extreme cases, even breakdown. So, all things considered, the Ford Fusion 1.5 EcoBoost engine has the potential to be a good engine, but one must be lucky to deal with it and avoid this major flaw which may or may not manifest.

This fuel efficiency is attributed to the direct injection and the double overhead camshafts (DOHC) with four valves per cylinder. On average, the Ford Fusion 1.5 Ecoboost engines can last for 80,000-100,000 miles without major repairs or emergency maintenance. This is not a long lifespan for a Ford model, but the statistics come from both good cars and those with faulty engines. Coolant leaks cause so much damage and significantly shorten life expectancy and maintenance schedules. These leaks and problems caused by them are the main reasons why so many car enthusiasts call these models “junk cars” and complain about endless repairs.

That being said, not all Fusion owners face such issues.
