The car lost all power and speed on the highway. there were no lights indicating there was a problem and left us stuck on side of the road. since the incident the car has stopped several times. i also took to ford dealer where it was purchased making a complaint.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated when attempting to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to mcnelly whaley motors (750 dolly parton pkwy, sevierville, tn) where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module, canister purge valve, carbon canister, and fuel tank were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact recently received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system) for the failures described. the contact was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were not available. the failure mileage was 90,000.
I was driving on a city road when the car stalled while i was in motion. i pulled over safely and it would not start back up.
Recall received on door latches. however when calling dealer to schedule no return call only solicitation calls on warranty. trunk used to open 1 push of button now trunk will not open however when in reverse trunk chime comes on saying trunk is open. when taking off from a stopped position vehicle starts to go then completely loses power happens after clutch is completely released in motion just falls on its face then immediately comes out of it infrequent but dangerous eveident since new.. traction control is accessed through radio. radio stopped working 22000. some doors do not all unlock infrequently. wiper infrequently stop working and park in middle of winshield
When entering high way and step on gas car struggles and stays at a low speed and will no speed up until after awhile it starts to shift gears. when going at a high speed wheels start to shake car can't go faster than 55mph. when making a complete stop and the. step on gas it struggles to shift gears, when turning car off and then turning it on after 10 minutes car will not turn on even with a new battery. you have to keep trying to idle until car turns on.
This vehicle bogs down, has low power, and slow acceleration. does not show any fault codes or service lights. i took this ford focus to two different shops; one of them being a ford dealer. they could not find anything wrong. no part failures. no codes to troubleshoot. they said that they can not explain the reasoning for this by the car seems fine although it has this issue. it makes leaving from a stop very dangerous as the car is really slow to accelerate. it has almost caused two accidents where other drivers arent expecting my slow acceleration. this is common in the vehicles with the automatic transmissions. but my focus has a manual transmission. so ford dealers and service support online are at a miss for what the issue would be as the vehicle shows no issues in the health report. after talking to ford service online they have asked for me to go to the nhtsa and place an official report so that this issue can be investigated as it is not the first. this vehicle has had the spark plugs, coils replaced and still no difference. this is a danger for anyone driving or near this vehicle while driving.
My 2014 ford focus was sold with a defective evaporation emission control (evap) system. because of the defect, raw fuel can be sucked through the evap canister through the purge valve directly into the engine, causing the car to stall or hesitate while driving, which can be extremely dangerous to drivers and pedestrians. my car is a 2014 and has approx. 27k miles on it. i now will have to pay $1960 in repairs to replace the evap purge valve, the fuel tank, the fuel pump, and the fuel sending unit, which have all been damaged as a result of the valve failure. i have seen numerous identical complaints on carcomplaints.com and the nhtsa government website, including complaints that people could have been seriously harmed, as they lost control of their vehicle on highway or major road. there was a lawsuit in 2017 (jon rivera, et. al., v. ford motor company) but ford won and the defect was not considered a recall. i believe ford should take responsibility for manufacturing a faulty part and putting consumers in danger that they may not realize. ford should absorb the costs that are resulting from the failure of defective parts in relatively new cars.
When in drive does not want to shift from first to second , car acts as if it is in neutral while driving causeing a a serious saftey hazard as this occurs while car is inmotion .
I was driving and was slowing down to take a sharp curve when the idle speed sped up the suddenly dropped and then the engine died. i restarted the car but the check engine light came on. it did the same thing as i was driving behind other traffic which was going slow. i drove to my mechanic he test drove the car and said the throttle body was going bad. he stated he had had several of these cars with the same problem. my car only had 48,000 miles on it. i never know when it will just stop if i have to slow down or even stop for a red light or other traffic. i live in a rural area and the roads are narrow with few places to pull off. i know that there have been recalls for this problem on some ford focus cars and mine should be included.
Vacuum seal on gas tank is faulty and gets air bubbles and the car cuts off at random. it cut off in the middle of an intersection yesterday and i almost got hit. i've reported this issue multiple times. several other ones were recalled but not my vin number but it's the exact same issue.
The wiper blades are getting stuck on the window and makes it dangerous to see when it is raining and i am driving. also when i press the accelerator (gas petal) the car hesitates to accelerate while driving.
My car actually stopped on me on sunday may 13, 2018 off i-35 on freeway. i was driving with my son and daughter in law in the car and i begin to feel the car just slow down. it was frightening because i was on the freeway and with no warning, the car slowed down to "turtles pace" and i tried to excelerate but nothing happened. had to immediately get in lane to get car off the freeway. it stalled out. we had to wait for hours in the dark until my son came to pick us up. i had to leave the car until the next day. i had the car towed to car repair and he told me he could not fix it because of recall. i had to pay the car repair for the part he ordered that he was not able to use. i then had the car towed to auto nation ford in arlington, tx and they charged me to fix the car and did not recognize the recall. i felt like auto nation ford did not even try to see anything as a recall they just wanted there money. my car still hesitates and i am really afraid to drive it but have no chose
My 2014 ford focus has run hit it will say the transmission is overheating and it will cut itself off. i have had it cut off on me twice.i can have a full tank off gas and only run my car like 40 miles and it will say its empty. i have had were my car will not go into reverse or drive the only gear i have would be the sports mode i have literally had to push my car.when it cools down it would go into gear but as soon as the motor and transmission would get hot it wouldn't have any gears anymore. i have received a letter from ford months ago that stated they would have my part by the end of march2019 here it is the end of june2019 and it still hasn't been fixed
2014 ford focus driving on rt 1 at 40mph just stop moving forward in traffic. was lucky to pull over to the side of the road. car would not move while in drive. turn off car for a few minutes then car was able to move forward. don't know what to do car only has 19k miles on it. prior to purchasing car used at ford dealer with 9k? miles on it. another time while in a parking lot car was not able to go in reverse or forward at around 11k? miles. turn off car waited and restarted then it was fine. also get shuddering in the transmission all the time. call ford they where no help on this matter as they stated this transmission would not be covered under warranty.
Vehicle is hesitating from start and seems to be having problems shifting into gears. it started about 6 months ago and these past few weeks seems to be getting worse by the day
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving low speeds, the vehicle experienced a loss of power. the contact also stated that the fuel gauge fluctuated and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. an independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel delivery module malfunctioned. the dealer was not notified of the failure. the manufacturer was notified and transferred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle shuddered when the accelerator pedal was depressed. also, the fuel gauge failed to display the correct fuel level. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact called lafontaine ford of birch run (11661 n beyer rd, birch run, mi 48415, (989) 652-6157) and was informed to have the vehicle diagnosed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the failure mileage was 108,980.
At 61,100 miles (1,100 miles over the warranty), the fuel tank collapsed due to a manufacturer's flaw resulting in a failed fuel sending unit. several attempts to get this resolved by ford has rendered futile.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on several occasions and the "transmission failure, service engine soon" warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence in october of 2018. in addition, the gear shifter failed to shift into the drive position and smoke appeared underneath the hood on one occasion while driving various speeds. morrie's minnetonka ford (13400 wayzata blvd, minnetonka, minnesota 55305, (952) 546-5441) was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no remedy for nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 97,542.
While driving down interstate 75 south at 70 miles per hour, car set on cruise control, the car lurch forward. when trying to resume speed the gas pedal did not respond coasted through a lane of traffic to the side of the road where the car died. unable to restart the vehicle was towed to the nearest ford dealership matthew curry in nokomis. after three days of sitting ford decided to look at the car and quickly determined the problem was a purge valve sticking causing a vacuum in the gas tank which caused the tank to collapse and damage the fuel pump. it was easy to recognize because they have seen this same situation many times on the focus model. a documented recalll has occurred in australia and new zealand over this very same issue ford a us manufactured car yet no recall in the us. i can find more than 100 reports online regarding this same situation in the us but ford will not take any responsibility. i have spoke to corporate where they issued a case/claim # 14636968. they then advise me to call the service manager who says he sent everything to corporate then given the run around. i have called chevrolet and honda they don't seem to have a problem with gas tanks collapsing. ford step up and take responsibility for this faulty system. i am grateful we are safe this malfunction while driving 70 on a busy florida interstate during rush hour could have ended much differently.. ridiculous flawed product
My gas needle dose not work my car stalls when you put gas in it goes dead while driving has happened several times was told it was the purge solenoid
Gas gauge showing 50 miles remain in the gas tank and car runs out of gas. this has happen three times twice on interstate going 70 mph during rush hour traffic.
I bought my first brand new car a 2014 ford focus. i decided to go with a new car to have less problems in the long run. boy was i wrong. after only 25000 miles my car began having transmission problems. i then brought it into the dealership and found out that ford had issued a recall on the transmission module. so i had that replaced free of charge. my car now has 45000 miles on it and it began causing me problems again, so i thought it was the same thing as before. i brought it into the dealership to have it checked out. after a day of waiting i received a call entailing all that was wrong with my car. this time it as much worse, my catalytic converter needed to be replaced which i was told this was covered by my warranty. now the next part i was told is the reason i am here writing this compliant. the dealership told me that my fuel tank had collapsed, and it was going to cost me upwards of $2100 to be fixed. so i then asked the question, what caused this to happen? i was told that this is a rare occurrence and there was nothing i could have done to prevent it. now keep in mind i change my oil every 3000 miles and do all the normal maintenance to keep any car running smoothly. i began to research collapsed fuel tanks in 2014 ford focuses, and i found that this not a rare occurrence and in fact it has happened to quite a few people. i hope this is found and read by corporate ford, so a recall can be initiated and i can be compensated.
I was driving last february, 2018, low on gas. about to pull off interstate to refuel. less than a mile from exit, engine cut off completely. no indicator light ever came on that i was low on fuel. i pulled over into emergency lane. while waiting for tow operator, my focus was side swiped by a tractor trailer and totaled by car insurance. luckily, neither myself nor brother were injured. we were in vehicle. it was terrible. i just wanted someone with nhtsa to know. i do not believe i had a two liter engine in the thing, which is what the incomplete recall indicates.
My 2014 ford focus (24,000 miles) stalled in traffic. it had no dash lights but the vehicle dashboard displayed the message "engine failure". after towing to the ford dealer, the service advisor stated that the fuel vacuum purge valve was defective and had caused a deformation of the fuel tank. he also said that his dealership was seeing several of these defects each week. he mentioned that a notice had been issued to dealers by ford about the defect, but that ford had not recalled the vehicles for the defect and that repairs would be the responsibility of the owners. the estimated cost was $1800. of course, this is an engineering and production defect caused by ford and represents a safety issue. a recall should be ordered immediately.
While filling up my gas tank if below half way my car will not start. this problem has been listed online many times and it seems like ford refuses to recall all 2014 ford focus. the gas gauge displays different levels of fuel and i am afraid that my car is going to stop while i'm driving and i have a accident. this has been listed online by may people that this car is having this problem. mine all of a sudden just started. i need my car fix and i am tired of paying for items you guy and ford are aware of. i need contact from a manager or a corporate working from ford. i am also filing a complaint with the bbb. i have small kids and cannot drive my car with them out of fear something may happen. there are reported crashes due to this and you guys are allowing ford to put people lives in danger. i was stuck at the gas station for 45 mins after getting gas due to this issue.
Driving my 2014 focus engine shut down ,pulled over to the shoulder of road in snow storm ,all most hit by tractor /trailer ,this was on i- 376 in pa ,after few minutes car started then stalled again , then car started and was able to continue on
When pressing on the gas vehicle hesitates before jerking forward. when placing the vehicle from park to reverse, vehicle will not engage/move in reverse. constant problems with vehicle while trying to begin driving or while trying to operate basic functions on a daily basis. this needs to be added to the extended warranty/recall for the transmission.
The capless gas tank is trapping air, causing the car to "burp" and sometimes turning engine off even when driving. this has happened numerous times in the last 8 months. but more frequently lately. i was driving down the interstate and my engine cut off from it. went to get it checked out and the service centers keep giving me the same response everywhere.
Whenever i accelerate from a stop, my car hesitates & "jumps" a few times before picking up speed. it happens very randomly from what i can tell. sometimes doing it often and other times it accelerates normally.
At times the car won't start, then after a few minutes it starts. cuts off while driving at any speed as if it is out of gas. cuts off on the interstate while driving at high speed or low speed. first the batter and oil light appears in red on dash when pushing the gas nothing happens and it cuts off. it stalls more and more, the fuel gage somes goes past full or fluctuates when driving. after putting gas in car it stalls more. also, as i pull off after stopped or initially, the car hesitates and skips and the tires skip when until it gets past 15 -20 miles then the transmission is steady when it's not salling.. when it rains the passenger side floor and roof leaks water constantly when i am driving in water the passenger side floor gets wet. when it rains and the car is parked water leaks and the passenger roof is wet from front to back as well as about 2 inches of water on the passenger front and back on the floor.
Lower arm w/balls and joints x 2 motor mount check engine light for p0420 catalyst and clutch and transmission jerking and hesitation and radio not working and i called 1800 number to ford and at this time could not help me and woman stated she reported to nhtsa #cas13448516 and also stated to call dealership which is balise ready credit in springfield mass
Noticed fuel gauge inaccurate, miles to empty inaccurate, engine cutting out while coasting to stop, feeling gas pedal unresponsive or suddenly fueling engine unexpectedly. learned from vehicle inspection at dealership service dept. that fuel tank is "delaminated" and deformed, and tank, valve and fuel pump all need replacing. cost: $1500. not considerered under warranty even though, according to them, this is a manufacturing flaw described by a tsb years ago.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to ridenour auto group (500 w broadway st, new lexington, oh 43764, phone number: (740) 342-5146) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to lose power and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (crouse ford, 11 antrim blvd, taneytown, md 21787) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and closed out the case. the failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Dual clutch and electrical wiring harness shifted transmission in drive when i was in park resulting the car wrecking into my garage. canister purge valve stuck open resulting in low fuel pressure causing the vehicle to stall when driving on the highway. several occasions the car gave me inaccurate gas mileage miles to empty causing me to become stranded.transmission shutter when the vehicle is off but you open a door or turn on a light. trunk came open while i was in the car wash. another ncident almost causing me to wreck when i wss braking the car accelerated. death trap!
Shuddering so bad that car shuts off while driving on the highway. 60 to nothing. nearly hit. shuddered leaving stop signs and intersections- nearly hit. fuel system issues- bowed gas tank in the heat. could have exploded. in shop 8+ times since new. ford customer care nor ford dealership will resolve.
While driving down the road at 30 mph my vehicle stalled and lost complete power. i was nearly involved in an accident, but fortunately the alert drivers around me were able to brake in time. a friendly samaritan helped to push my vehicle to the side of the road. thankfully i was physically okay, but emotionally not so much. i purchased a brand new 2014 ford focus off of the lot and have since had nothing but issues. i'm still paying on the vehicle today and now it is not in use unless i can come up with 2,500.00 to repair the entire fuel system. this system should not have failed at only 67,000 miles. there is an issued recall on similar ford vehicles manufactured from 2013-2015 which is the same time frame in which my vehicle was manufactured. after repeated attempts to come to a resolution through ford customer service, they won't even offer information on the type of fuel system used on the vehicles with the recall because they don't want to be liable for this defect. i'm out of a vehicle at 67,000 miles and have no consumer protection. it's scary to read about the 100's of people who experienced the exact same fuel system malfunction at similar mileage. this is a serious safety issue that ford needs to address immediately. in addition, since i have had the vehicle the transmission has been jerky and i can't even accelerate onto a highway. ford had vehemently denied that it was anything wrong with the manufacturer transmission and yet since they have issued a recall on the transmission, but now tell me i'm too far past my warranty(which was only 7,000 miles ago) i'm heartbroken because i don't have the money to repair this sort of system, especially knowing it is a defect on their part.
Vehicle stalled while traveling 30 mph, same fuel system that is under recall on ford vehicles manufactured through 2013-2015. it is obviously the same exact issue. i nearly lost my life driving a 3 year old car that i'm still paying on. the fuel system completely failed while the vehicle was in motion. i had just scheduled service on the vehicle earlier that morning because it was not reading the fuel level correctly and stalling when i filled the tank up. the ford dealership wants to charge me 2,500.00 to have it replaced when they know that the system is defective because of the manufacturer part.
Vehicle fuel system leaking, gas tank disformed. danger to my self and everyone around my vehicle. the dealer in napa doesn't know why this happened. but they replaced the parts. this car is danger to everyone and public. please make them replace this car before someone death. it can explode disformed gas tank and fumes makes this car a bomb. please help the dealer wont return parts to me. or tell me the cause. my number is [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb
Car transmission jerks, sputters, accelerates and stalls. in addition now having issues with fuel tank not guaging and now it hesitates, stalls out and is not safe. car suddenly stopped running had to be towed to the shop and shop advised the fuel tank guage was not operating and registering gas. now i am going to have to take it back to the shop as it appears it may involve fuel tank, fuel pump and vapor management. i only know this is because searching on line i see many simiilar complaints about the jerking transmission problems, and problems with the vehicle stalling out. it says ford is not acknowleding this as a problem. i believe they need to recall this and fix this although it appears based on reviews even after repeated attempts to fix it is still not resolved. many customers have had to pay thousands of dollars. this vehicle is not safe to drive and is in a class action lawsuit.
2014 ford focus transmission clutch went out 3 times since i have own the car. stopped at traffic light foot. on break car in drive car goes flying backwards . car lose of power will not go in reverse.setting waiting to pull out in main road foot on break car in drive car shot me out in front of a pepsi truck car control it's self. took car to police station in n barboursville west virginia to report it they laughed at me. car jump's will not go. then sends you flying backwards or forward. car is trying to kill me driving the car in the streets is when this happened or waiting to pull out on the streets in going from 2017 to 2019
The car is stuttering when it goes from 0-45, stuttering while parked, at ya light/ stop sign.
When filling with car at gas station the auto pump shut off does not function spewing fuel all over. this has happened multiple times at different gas stations. fuel gauges on car are not accurate. took car to ford there is a tsb 15-0034 for this issue. the fuel tank was distorted/deformed causing the fuel pump to malfunction overflowing into the evap canister. this is a dangerous situation and is a fire hazard when filling the car with gas. this issue should be a recall due to fire and safety hazards.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle shuttered and stalled. the contact also stated that the fuel gauge failed to work without warning and the vehicle ran out of fuel. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and called roadside assistance for more fuel. the contact restarted the engine and the vehicle returned to normal. the failure recurred twice. the local dealer (north brothers ford located at 33300 ford rd, westland, mi 48185 (800) 586-4203) stated that the contact had to pay to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted at 800-392-3673 and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 69,900.
Transmission: while driving the vehicle the transmission in some cases will shift very rapidly giving the vehicle no acceleration power. the vehicle feels sluggish and vibrates. also, while driving over speed humps or through an intersection in almost every instance the vehicle starts to vibrate after going over the speed hump or through the intersection. fuel pump: while driving the car the car lost all power while driving in las cruces, new mexico. the car did not stall completely however when depressing the accelerator the car would just now increase in rpm's. i took the car into a mechanics shop and they were not able to duplicate problem. i drive the car for another year and this time the car again started to sputter. it turned out to be the fuel pump.
I have read plenty reviews and even checked my credit report where ford cars of the 2014 has recalls on the fuel pump or fuel system. when i first brought the car we had to get the clutch replace and it still had gaging issues. the car cuts off in traffic and i do not have an extended warranty due to the fact that kt would never cover pre-existing conditions. we even called a ford and they would not help us. this fuel system needs to be fixed.
Five times this car has completely stop at 60mph driving on major highway 494 minneapolis,mn. stalled 5 times. this car has almost killed me 5 times. its been serviced 5 times with no resolution. i want my money back or a new car that wont kill me. every time its serviced the dealership charges me a fee.
I purchased a 2014 ford focus used with 86k miles, upon taking delivery of the vehicle we noticed while driving the vehicle when starting from a complete stop the car jerks and bucks. i took the vehicle for recalls to be fixed, in which i believe the transmission issue fell under the tcm module recall. my daughter was driving back to campus and the car was bucking and jumping and then finally cutoff while driving!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer again where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump control module failed. the failure caused a lean condition in the engine and caused the oxygen sensor to fail. in addition, the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred while at the dealer. however, during this incident, the vehicle idled at very high rpms and an overheating warning indicator illuminated, which warned the contact to pull over. the vehicle was taken to a dealer once again and the mechanic stated that there was a chafed wire. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that they would take the contact's information and file a complaint with nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 69,000.
