2014 ford focus se. consumer writes in regards to transmission issues. *ld the consumer stated after 30,000, the vehicle began experiencing stuttering, jerking, and power loss. the vehicle was repaired, but the recurred. *js

Purchased used in june 2018. have had issues with the transmission shifting while driving. the car won't shift into reverse at all. took back to dealership and was told it wasn't covered under their power train warranty. was told it was a clutch issue and was a common problem with these cars that ford failed to fix.

This vehicle bogs down, has low power, and slow acceleration. does not show any fault codes or service lights. i took this ford focus to two different shops; one of them being a ford dealer. they could not find anything wrong. no part failures. no codes to troubleshoot. they said that they can not explain the reasoning for this by the car seems fine although it has this issue. it makes leaving from a stop very dangerous as the car is really slow to accelerate. it has almost caused two accidents where other drivers arent expecting my slow acceleration. this is common in the vehicles with the automatic transmissions. but my focus has a manual transmission. so ford dealers and service support online are at a miss for what the issue would be as the vehicle shows no issues in the health report. after talking to ford service online they have asked for me to go to the nhtsa and place an official report so that this issue can be investigated as it is not the first. this vehicle has had the spark plugs, coils replaced and still no difference. this is a danger for anyone driving or near this vehicle while driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated and jerked when engaged in the park position. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to sawgrass ford (14501 w sunrise blvd, sunrise, fl 33323, 954-851-9000), but the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the power clutch was replaced. the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed back to the dealer; however, the failure was unable to be duplicated or diagnosed. the vehicle continued to accelerate and jerk. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer and the power shifter was replaced, but the failure occurred the next day. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and offered to buy-back the vehicle as a down payment for a new vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

When in drive does not want to shift from first to second , car acts as if it is in neutral while driving causeing a a serious saftey hazard as this occurs while car is inmotion .

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that there was a strong vibration and jerking motion while driving at any rate of speed. autonation ford marietta (770-674-6077, located at 869 cobb pkwy se, marietta, ga 30060) indicated that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. the contact stated that the dealer refused to replace the part under warranty and indicated that the clutch assembly had been previously replaced in mid 2015. the dealer was unable to disclose the details of the repair. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was not available.

The dual clutch has been replaced numerous times since our purchase of the car. we bought it used from a ford dealership and looking at maintenance records this had already been an issue before it was sold to us. this information was never disclosed to us prior to purchase. the car unexpectedly jolts forward causing an issue with acceleration. the dual clutch has had to continually be replaced every few months incurring high maintenance costs. we are concerned about the safety of the car and the high maintenance costs incurred because the transmission has not yet been recalled. if this is known to be the issue, the consumer should not have to pay for temporary fixes, when the problem could be resolved by the replacement of the transmission.

My car would start jerking and reving up and then i would no longer be able to gas it. it just began to roll in the direction it was already going in.

The vehicle does a studdering and stalling. in 2015, ford said they fixed it and that some of the studdering is because it's a 4 cyl vehicle. in may 2018 i brought the car back stating the same issue but worst. they said it's the tcm and it would cost me $1850. i complained to ford motor company and they extended the warranty. ford said they fixed it. the next day i had to bring the car back because the dashboard said "transmission overheating please stop" then it stall on me in the middle of traffic. i took it back to them and asked what did they fixed. they had the car for 2 days then called me to tell me it's the clutch and it's not covered under the warranty and it costs $2400. the clutch is part of the transmission so why isn't it? they are now telling me because my car has 94000 miles on it that it is normal wear and tear. who buys a brand new vehicle for it to conk out on them at 94000? they will not fix my car without me paying for it. this is a defective part that ford has and they refuse to take ownership of the matter and resolve it. i had to participate in a class action suit against ford regarding this. several others are now being compensated but they are residents of ca which has stricter lemon laws. the suit is now on hold.

Tramission fault service now error recieved while vehicle was in motion on the highway during heavy rain travelling the speed limit of 60 mph. the car jerked and decelerated rapidly.

The dual clutch powershift transmission has begun to fail on me. it jerks suddenly at highway speeds, has rpm flares and will not shift into reverse. when brought to sayville ford, lenny told me that this particular model 2014 ford focus was not covered by any extended warranty and would therefore cost me 2200 to repair. he did explain to me that the tcm was under warranty, but this was apparently not the issue with the vehicle. i continue to have these issues.

2014 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to fuel vapor system malfunction. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle would shutter when stopped, the rpm increases then decreases. the consumer was advised the gas tank was deformed and needed to be replaced. *js

I have a 2014 ford focus that has a dps6 transmission that needs to have the clutches replaced. i bought used in dec 2015 and in early 2016 i started to have shuttering problems. i took the car to the dealer and they told me that this was normal. about 6 months later i had the same issue again. took my car back to the dealer and they told me that the transmission is learning how you drive and this was normal. about 6 months after that my engine stalled because my transmission would not go between gears. i finally got my car started and took it to the dealer and they reflashed my tcm. my car ran alright for awhile and then i started to have problems again with shifting and shuddering. took my car back to the dealer and was told my clutches were out of specs and needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,000 which i cannot afford. at no time did the dealer give me any paperwork. even after i asked for paperwork. now i continue to have problems with shuddering and the engine light will come on and the go away after the car sits overnight. when the engine is cold everything works fine until the engine gets warm and then i start having problems again. after doing some research. i notice there is a technical service bulletin 16-0109. however ford will not fix. they tell me my car is not on this list. whatever this means. i am truly frustrated with ford and i am afraid that i may cause a accident. apparently i am not the only one having these problems. why is there no recall on these vehicles? ford knowing knew about these problems and continued to sell these vehicles and not forced to fix.

Vacuum seal on gas tank is faulty and gets air bubbles and the car cuts off at random. it cut off in the middle of an intersection yesterday and i almost got hit. i've reported this issue multiple times. several other ones were recalled but not my vin number but it's the exact same issue.

The power train repeatedly "slips" and makes unusual noises during acceleration and deacceleration. 3rd party observers have also and repeatedly made similar observations.

Incident #1 - while traveling on the interstate, i attempted to change lanes to prepare for an upcoming exit. noticing faster moving traffic approaching from behind (i had just entered the freeway), i pressed the accelerator to speed up during the lane change. my vehicle "shifted" into neutral, causing me to lose acceleration when i absolutely needed it to match the speed of overtaking traffic. i quickly moved back to my original lane to avoid being struck from behind. incident #2 - while stopped at a yield, waiting to enter a traffic circle, i attempted to accelerate into the traffic circle, but just as my car began to move forward, the transmission shifted into "neutral", rpms went up to about 4,000. when i took my foot off the gas to apply brake and stop my entrance to the traffic circle, the transmission caught (clutch engaged) and propelled me into the traffic circle, which by this time had approaching traffic. narrowly avoided a serious collision by steering to the shoulder of the road.

Tcm has been reprogrammed one and 2 new clutches have been installed under warranty. shudder has returned at around 12,000 miles since last new clutch installed. ford refuses to do anything since it was 120 miles over the warranty. this is a known issue with these cars.

On friday 27 of april 2018 i was driving my car , i made a stop on a red light to make a right turn then when i accelerated my check engine turn on and i felt my car mess 2nd gear and lost power for 3 to 4 seconds. after that incident i park my car and i decide to return home so i try to reverse and my reverse wasn't working. immediately i took the car to a mechanic and he scan it, so he gave me the code indicating it was the clutch actuator b. on monday i went to buy the part at the local dealer and my mechanic change it and it fix the problem for a week and it did it again on may 5 2018. this time the car lose power while the car was in motion. i was driving at 55 mph and it was risky for myself and family and other vehicles because i could have a accident or put people in danger. the local dealer did the dual clutch replacements, the seals and the tcm control modul around 50000 miles ago and even after those replacement and repairs the car isn't working well and it always has one problem and another. the engine and transmission mounts has been a problem since we got the car. on behalf of the transmission shift problems and poor disign of te transmission i have to change constantly the motor and transmission mounts.i hope ford company takes care of this problem as responsible of selling defective cars and trying to act like nothing is happening and putting life's on risk....

2014 ford focus driving on rt 1 at 40mph just stop moving forward in traffic. was lucky to pull over to the side of the road. car would not move while in drive. turn off car for a few minutes then car was able to move forward. don't know what to do car only has 19k miles on it. prior to purchasing car used at ford dealer with 9k? miles on it. another time while in a parking lot car was not able to go in reverse or forward at around 11k? miles. turn off car waited and restarted then it was fine. also get shuddering in the transmission all the time. call ford they where no help on this matter as they stated this transmission would not be covered under warranty.

2014 ford focus se transmission recall/ repair. the transmission slips and jerks badly . was told by ford that this was a know problem for this car with this type transmission , but they would not help me. it is throwing codes for this.

Hard shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. clutch replaced 4 times issue occurring again. causes car to jump forward during shift. has almost caused numerous accidents. i leave 1 car space between me and the car in front of me at complete stops just in case the transmission shifts hard. has been happening since a few days after purchase in 2014 to present.

Extreme stalling problems driving on freeway and going on inclines. car has heavy jerking at stop and go speeds. transmission light came on asking to pull over and wait 6 minutes for overheating. 3 times in less than a year car has been to the shop

This car was boiught in louisville ky at oxmoore ford in march 2018 i have taken it back 3 times at 1st said it was not failing then the 2 nd time replaced clutch in transmission and 3rd replaced clutch again and it is now sept 2018 and not much better still jolting and shudder and hesitation at acceleration this car is very dangerous it also has a vibration at idle

The first incidence (2/26/18) was while stopped on a highway off-ramp, the engine stalled. the car was able to be restarted and driven. on a second occasion (2/28/18), i was driving and in motion on a residential street when the engine shut off. the brakes and steering was not affected and i was able to stop the car and restart the engine. prior to this, the check engine light came on and i had scheduled service on the car for 3/7/18 (the earliest they had available). the car has had multiple transmission replacements in the few short years that i have owned it.

On february 19, 2018, i was driving my 2014 ford focus (vin [xxx]) in sugar land, tx.while operating the vehicle i stopped at an intersection.there was one vehicle in front of me at the traffic light.once the light turned green i slowly accelerated.while i was accelerating, the vehicle shifted gears so hard that it almost caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me.the transmission banged into gear very hard. i am very concerned that the transmission in this vehicle has a manufacturing defect which is causing this severe safety hazard. on february 21, 2018 i took the vehicle to helfmann ford in stafford, tx. they informed me that the would be able to look at my transmission for 2 months due to their technician being out starting monday. i then went to legacy ford dealership located at 27225 south west freeway rosenberg tx 77471.i met with a service advisor who identified himself as john smith. i reported the incident to the service advisor on february 21, 2018 at approximately 10:30am.i advised him that i was concerned that the vehicle had a manufacturing defect that was causing the vehicle to be a safety hazard.he indicated that this was a known issue with this model vehicle. i purchased this vehicle brand new. it has never suffered any unusual wear or tear and has never been misused.additionally, i have had it into the ford dealership for the exact same issue at least three times.i am concerned that the issue is not being reported to nhtsa and that the agency is not aware of the safety hazard associated with this vehicle. additional transmission issues include violent shuddering from a complete stop and while driving on incline. the transmission will become stuck in first and second gears and whined up but not shift any further without coming to a complete stop to "reset" the transmission. *tr

My car as most every other person i know with the "dps6" dual clutch transmission suffers from the jerking and shuddering when shifting. slipped gears when at highway speeds and sometimes it catches when the rpm is high and literally lunges the car forward forcing me to slam my breaks to the floor. i am the 2nd owner of the vehicle and have had the transmission repaired once about a year ago and i am seeing the symptoms all come back with time. i purchased this vehicle thinking it would be safe for my 3 year old and i am reluctant to take it on the highway with her knowing the issue is ongoing and widespread, having all of the known issues myself and it continues after the "fix" has been performed. it has been widely reported that ford knew internally about these issues and they refuse to step up and stand behind their vehicles. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/11/ford-focus-fiesta-dual-clutch-automatic-problems-before-after-production/ https://jalopnik.com/ford-secretly-directed-dealers-to-fix-faulty-transmissi-1836559567 https://carbuzz.com/news/ford-tried-to-hide-a-major-secret i am now on the hook for $9000 on a car that is unsafe and no course of action. please do something about this!!!!

I bought ford focus 2014 se but i found out it has big transmission problems this car has only 87000 miles.i took it to dealership they tested they said it need to replace new family clutch but no under warranty coverage .it cost $1,750 that i have to pay from my pocket.it very bad so without car i think i'm going to lose my job it's very bad stuff i have ever seen before.

2014 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to problems with clutch mechanism. *ld the consumer stated the clutch mechanism failed and has been replaced twice and went out again. *js

I started my vehicle after i dropped my 3 month old off at daycare, it was parked and my dashboard was flashing "transmission fault- service now". i pulled out of my space and parked the car to restart , to see if maybe the computer just needed to be restarted. at this point the dashboard computer was going black and then trying to turn on and going blue. the speedometer stopped working, i lost all power steering. i drove it home and parked it.

The vehicle lost the ability to reverse (parking lot), and the transmission lurches while shifting gears (street/highway). i took it to the service department of my ford dealer, and they said it is the tcm module -- the same part that is the subject of a class action lawsuit. i'm afraid to drive the vehicle because everyone who has this issue says it recurs after ford re programs the tcm, which does not fix the problem which gets progressively worse, often losing power on the highway or the steering wheel locking. i don't to keep having to drive this vehicle until enough people die.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle shuddered and jerked before returning to normal. the failure occurred numerous times without warning. the vehicle was taken to miracle ford (1394 nashville pike, gallatin, tn 37066, (615) 442-8845) where it was diagnosed that the clutch was faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. there were no recalls for the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 98,000.

Start with the transmission rpm go between five and seven after a stop sign are trying to merge onto the freeway second all coming off the freeway are coming to a complete stop anywhere in the street the congress poll either left or right you never really know which way causing you to lose control of the car

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. on several occasions, while driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle hesitated for 10 to 15 miles before it accelerated at normal speeds. on another occasion, while driving, the engine revved and the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to coccia ford lincoln inc (577 e main st, wilkes-barre, pa 18702, (570) 823-8888) on several occasions where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the clutch was replaced, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the contact was transferred to the nhtsa hotline. the vin was invalid. the approximate failure mileage was 27,080.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 5 mph, there was an abnormal odor from the front of the vehicle and the power seized without warning. the vehicle restarted after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (dave sinclair lincoln st. peters, 4760 n service rd, st. peters, mo 63376) where it was diagnosed that the clutch was burned. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that nhtsa issued and expanded recalls. the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The transmission has obvious issues. i have to gun it from a stop so it doesn't chug every single time i stop. one time i really feared for my life was when i was on a major thoroughfare and someone slammed their brakes on in front of me. i, in turn, slammed my brakes on to avoid an accident, which happened to be in the middle of an intersection. my car would not go back into gear immediately and take off. i was stalled and helpless. i felt like a sitting duck ready to be ran over. i fear for anytime i have to slam my brakes on to avoid an accident that i will again be sitting waiting to be hit. i bought my car used. i took it in to a dealership for recall work that i assumed would resolve the problem only to be told that no it didn't cover my issue. i was also told that it was a known issue by ford, and that the previous owner had gotten the tramsmission fixed while it was still under warranty but that the warranty time for the fix was now up and it would cost $1200 to fix. they told me even if i paid to have it fixed, it would inevitably happen again as they see this problem everyday. i do not have the money to get a new car. in fact, it is now the only car in our household as my husband is disabled. i feel i've been betrayed and left out to dry. i'm thoroughly disappointed in ford. i do not make a lot of money as a school secretary. i regret putting my trust in a company that had a great reputation before this issue. i wish i could get my money back and rethink my purchase.

Transmission clutches shudder/tried to stall, was fixed last year at 4280 miles. i now have 7820 miles and transmission it slipping/ clutches not working correctly. all occurrences while driving hwy/low speeds.
