CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 23 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 1

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Ford Focus

Dps6 transmission is unreliable and vehicle is unsafe to drive due to inconsistent vehicle response when pushing accelerator pedal and ford cannot correct the recurring problem. the problems have occurred many times since we took delivery of the new vehicle in feb, 2014. vehicle has been to dealership 9 times for shuttering/shaking, no response when pushing accelerator pedal, surging forward several seconds after pushing accelerator pedal following no response, hesitation when pushing accelerator pedal. ford has replaced the clutch 4 times in the past 5 years and the problems randomly persist. the vehicle is at dealership now for most recent clutch replacement. ford has updated the tcm/pcm at least 4 times and the same problems still recur. after the updates to the tcm/pcm and/or clutch replacements we've continually been told that the road tests are within ford specifications but the problems continue. in the most recent occurrence on 7/1/19, my daughter was turning left onto a busy road with cars traveling at 50 mph; her focus started into the oncoming traffic lane then hesitated while the accelerator pedal was pressed and the vehicle would not respond. the car coming toward her had to slam on his brakes to avoid t-bone collision. her focus finally responded and she was able to complete the turn, but she came close to being seriously injured or killed. upon hearing this situation, i immediately called the ford dealership to bring the car in. in june, 2018, at a stop light the focus would not respond when pressing the accelerator pedal, then after several seconds it lunged forward and almost hit the car in front of her. i bought this car new for my daughter. after reading the 7/12/19 detroit free press article, it's clear this is a flawed design. my daughter will never drive this vehicle again. it's a ticking bomb. it needs to be recalled.

Car has had hesitation and rough idling... car was taken in to dealer to have issues with recall 18s32 fixed. for some reason.. no parts (including cpv valve or eev canister) were replaced. after a day of getting the car back, the engine stalled and would not restart. different dealer is stating the starter needs to be replaced for almost 800.00. customer service at ford has been of no help and for some reason i am always disconnected when talking to someone.

Tl* the contact's mother owns a 2014 ford focus. while the contact's mother was driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the driver was able to park the vehicle on the side of the road. the driver attempted to shift into reverse, but the vehicle failed to move backwards. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 82,000.

The transmission in the car is jerking when below 10mph and acts as if it is slipping. after research, this seems to be a common problem in low mileage vehicles of this type. safety issue when at stop lights and when accelerating from a stop. afraid to take vehicle on road.

We test drove ford focus 2014 se with 50k miles at the dodge dealer in clermont gotta. the transmission shuttered when going uphill and turning left with 4 passengers. when pointed out to the dealer, they said it was fine. just heavy load going up hill and turning. we drove the car 2000 miles and the transmission got worse. ford dealer said they'd repaired the transmission clutches on many of these focus automatic tiptronic transmissions and some were recalled some weren't. of course "ours" wasn't a recall and cost $2000 after owning the case less then 30 days. the dealer says it was sold as is. i won't recommend that dodge dealer in clermont, florida! after the ford dealer repaired the transmission and driving 2000 miles more, the transmission is shuttering and hesitating again. ford should issue a recall on this transmission as there are many people having this problem with low mileage.

While in accelerating vehicle stalls and trembles before making a lot noise and then it accelerates. yesterday the vehicle started decreasing spontaneously when shifting gear. it feels like the transmission wants to fall of the car, it lit the check engine sign, the millage on it is 60675. i've taken it to the dealership and have had the clutch replaced twice. also every 3 to 5 months i also have to go under the car and clean the horn plug since it keeps going malfunctioning ( i have even tried sealing it with electrical tape) and currently i have no radio and no bluetooth since it also stop suddenly while driving.

2014 ford focus. consumer writes in regards to issues with the transmission. *ld *js

When shifting down from drive to park, my shift gets stuck in neutral or when i am shifting from park to reverse, i am unable to move the car into another gears. when i am at a stop light and the light turns green my car seems to stalls to take off. when i drive down the street the car acts like it wants to shut off. a ford truck almost hit me because the light was already green and my car stalled and would not go. i had my hazard lights and he swerved into another lane where the traffic was headed toward the truck. this very dangerous.

My ford focus would rev up and down.... and when i would hit a speed over 50 mph i couldn't press the gas anymore. i would have to coast to the side of the road because my gas pedal wouldn't take me anywhere. the last time it happened, i almost died. i was pulling out of the gym parking lot and it started acting up again and it stalled in the middle of the road with on coming traffic. the car will stay on but when you press the gas it goes no where. i took it to ford, and they replaced what they believe is wrong with their current transmission problems. but it still continues to do the same thing. they are not safe cars!!!!

Transmission was jerking like a manual when shifting our 2014 ford focus with 47,706 miles. took to local dealership and they told me i was out of warranty. read an article about and extended warranty for such an issue. i am attaching my invoice for repairs.

In the course of less than a month, the car's problem progressed from intermittent starting issues that left me stranded to a full-on failure of the transmission control system. the clutch of the vehicle had been replaced and the transmission repaired in june 2018. on may 30th, 2019, the car was taken in due to transmission starting issues. the lights would turn on when turning the key, but the engine would not crank. the car was returned after the transmission control module was replaced. on june 11, 2019, the car was returned to the dealership for the same issue. car would not start and took about 50 tries after having been stranded for several hours. car was returned to me several days later because nothing was found. on june 19, 2019, i was driving down the highway, i was in the left lane going about 60 mph. i tried to accelerate to pass someone, and my car would not accelerate. when i looked down, my check engine light was flashing, my battery light was on, and my oil light was on. the car downshifted and started to rapidly decelerate. engine shut down, and car was rolling to a stop. i had to rush to the right lane in rush hour traffic, and i managed to roll my way up the exit ramp, where my car shut down completely at the top of the exit ramp. car would not restart, and i was stranded there for over an hour in a dangerous place and situation. i called a tow, and after trying to start my car intermittently for over an hour, the engine finally started. i drove it straight to the dealership to be checked out again.the same issue with transmission control has persisted, resulting in me having to take the car in on three separate occasions in about two weeks. it started of from intermittent starting issues to the car shutting down completely while traveling at a high speed. this car has done nothing but put me in danger, and i haven't even paid it off yet.

The transmission is known to be faulty. mine studders when going from first to second when taking off from a stop like someone who can't drive a manual. my 01 focus is a manual. it has slipped out of gear multiple times on me and friends driving it in intersections, and highways. the car is 5 years old. should not have these problems. i fear it will wnd up causing harm to myself or others. it needs to be addressed and fixed

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shuttered, jerked, and failed to shift in and out of gear. the vehicle was slow to change gears at any given point without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and failed to shift into reverse several times intermittently. in addition, the malfunction indicator lamp flashed. the vehicle was towed to david stanley ford of midwest city (6601 se 29th st, midwest city, ok 73110, (405) 733-1611) where it was diagnosed several times, but failed to provide a permanent remedy. the dealer later diagnosed that the transmission assembly needed to be replaced and the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). the contact stated that the failure that the vehicle exhibited was related to the recall campaign. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for further diagnostic testing. the failure mileage was not available.

Transmission slips and stopped working. software has been updated/reloaded 4 times. replaced control module. fixed clutches

We have the titanium version in the hatchback. we purchased the vehicle new and to date have had 11 clutches replaced by the dealership. the car keeps hesitating when starting to move, then chatters between lower gears. this issue started 1 month after purchasing new and has been an ongoing battle.

I was turning to the right when my vehicle stalled, my rpms went real high and then the vehicle engaged into the next gear resulting in a jolt forward. when the vehicle stalled the car was almost hit from behind by other car, luckily i was turning and car proceeded to move forward.

I have had multiple incidents with my 2014 ford focus related to the faulty transmission. besides rough shifting and lots of shuddering over the years, my car has completely stalled on me while in motion, driving on the highway 2 different times. i lost the ability to accelerate while going more than 65 miles per hour, and i had to coast through high-speed traffic to get to the shoulder (both times). the first time this happened was july 29th, 2017 in fort lauderdale, florida. the 2nd time was june 6th, 2019 on the sawgrass expressway in broward county, florida. both times were very scary and put myself and others at risk for a serious and dangerous accident. early on, the ford dealership told me that the rough transmission is normal and would get better if i improved my driving habits. more recently i have been told that the transmission would fail again but that the warranty has been extended.

I was sitting at a stop light and when the light turned green my car wouldn't move, looked down at the spot on the dash where it says what gear you are in and it was flashing. finally got the car to move into a parking lot. i has it looked at and they said it was fixed. the next day i was driving and it started slipping gears.

While driving my 2014 ford focus on the highway, the car almost stalled during a backup in traffic. while normal driving the car lost power and the rpm gauge started dropping as the accelerator was been depressed further. while traffic to overtake on the highway the car actually slowed down while trying to go faster. the car behave like the transmission is having problems switching to lower gears.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shut down while driving on the freeway. the service and check engine warning indicators illuminated and the rpms revved. the vehicle slowed down and the contact merged onto an emergency exit. the vehicle was towed to atchinson ford (9800 belleville rd, belleville, mi 48111). the dealer stated that they would have their transmission specialist diagnose the vehicle and call the contact back. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 88,000. *bf*jb

Well first gear to 2 gear have sifting problem car only 65k i need get repair this car have alot off recalll pls i need get repair my email adres [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the gears would not switch properly and the vehicle would not accelerate properly. also, on several occasions, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to blake fulenwider ford (115 w houston st, beeville, tx 78102) where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module was faulty and needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 114,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated once the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to magic city ford lincoln (located at 809 williamson rd ne, roanoke, va 24016, (540) 345-0911) where it was diagnosed that there was internal clutch failure in the transmission. the vehicle was scheduled to be repaired, which was still pending. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle has a strong shudder when accelerating from a stop or from low speeds. gaudin ford in las vegas told me the 2014 focus has a problem with their clutch that causes the shuddering. i had the clutch replaced at 7500 miles. the shudder came back at 55000 miles and is getting worse now at 75,000 miles. there is a recall for this exact problem for the same year make and model but for some reason my vin isn't included. the problem affects me; ford service has already confirmed it. i need my vin included in the recall/extended warranty.

Beginning in 2017, as i was on my way to work and stopped at a stop light on a city street, the light turned green and i pressed the gas pedal. after the rpm meter was passed "2" the car jerked back and slowed down for a few seconds then went back to the previous speed. this continuously happened every time i would press the gas petal to speed up for several days. i took the car in a mechanic shop and my car was no longer jerking back and they found nothing wrong; however, i have the documents from this mechanic stating what was happening at this time. at this time the vehicle was well under 100,000 miles. again in 2018 i was on my way to work and the same thing began again. the car seemed to lose power for a few seconds every time i would speed up the vehicle. i took it to yet another mechanic shop where they found nothing wrong again. soon after my car began acting normal again. finally, in may 2019 the same issue began again. i would press the gas pedal and my car would start to go, then it would jerk back for a few seconds as if losing power, then gain power back and speed up. also, several times in 2019 i would turn on the car, put the car in drive, press the gas pedal and the vehicle wouldn't move. it seemed to have no power. i then took the vehicle to a third mechanic and they informed of a transmission recall for my year and model car. i was unaware of this recall up until this point and i do not know the recall number. i was a college student and my mail was sent to my home address rather than my college address. this mechanic then rebuilt the vehicle's transmission for $3,000. the mechanic then sent my vehicle to a ford dealership where they replaced the transmission control module for no cost.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled, jerked, and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle would not reverse once in the park position. the contact took the vehicle to five star ford stone mountain (3800 highway 78w, snellville, ga, (470) 552-0862) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failures recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 133,000.

Transmission has had serveral computer updates and clutch replacements for shuddering when accelerating. while towing behind a motor home with transmission in tow mode the transmission somehow went from neutral to drive and caused the transmission to fail to the extent of total rebuild at the dealer. after the rebuild it still shudders and hesitates when accelerating in drive.

Vehicle shudder problem 2014 ford focus se i bought the car from an auction on may 13th, 2019 with slightly more than 78000 miles on the odometer. i could not drive it away because i did not have a second driver and the auction was 1 hour away. i picked up the car two days later. when i put the car in gear and started driving, i immediately noticed the car shuddering/stuttering. this happened every time i came to a stop and tried to accelerate from stop or merge into traffic. the vehicle takes long to accelerate and shakes while trying to pick up speed. i was afraid and still am afraid that it was going to stall. i've since gone online to do some research and i am finding that this seems to be a universal problem for this car. now, i know auction cars are sold as is, and i understood this when i bid for the car but this seems to be a manufacturer defect that has not been corrected by the manufacturer on many of these cars. the problem in my case is that i bought this car as a surprise for my 16 year-old daughter who is soon going to be 17 and is due to take her road test. with the type of acceleration and stalling issues being reported online, how can ford not take action to recall/and or fix the problem.

Transmission is sluggish, tugging..taking off, not shifting or shift all at once. even up hill, in traffic. car speed will take off on its own. hard to brake. went down hugh hill, car in control tugging back so hard, the noise was so loud that we thought car was going to blow. 15yr old in car. dealership had me drive car off lot with a temporary inspection and come back in month. its not a temporary sticker. i couldn't take car home night i bought it. so all these things happening after taking car off lot. i went back in a couple days later. told to buy a warranty, they reset the transmission, as if i owned the car for years. this isn't right. they prolonged helping, etc...even asked for my car back. then thrown in my face that it was at auction. nobody was helping. send letters, did a survey, calling, dropping in, etc...i documented everything. i need help!! this is a dangerous lemon and they took advantage of me. ceo is contacted to. i need help incase i get the run around again. the car has someone else's inspection on it 7-19 come back in 4wks...what?? day i brought it home. all these suprises!

I was driving and all of a sudden ny check engine light came on, my car began to shudder and lurch forward a few feet as i tried to accelerate, it seemes like i has a sudden loss of power as well. i drove home immediately and upon getting home realized i could not reverse. as i tried to reverse my cas engine simply just revved.

Ford is refusing to perform recall 18v-735. the car stalls, runs out of gas, has erroneous mileage and dte readings. the local dealer was "obligated" to perform the recall service when i had it in for a different safety recall for faulty door latch. they didn't seem to know much about the recall on the fuel system. they didn't know about the gas tank. i had to tell them. they reprogrammed the pcm which did nothing. the recall on this car was closed. i called ford. they said the recall was still open and take it to where we purchased the car new. that dealer says the recall is closed on that car. the car stalls, ran out of gas yesterday with my wife on a busy highway. this is a dangerous car. called ford again. they say the recall service was performed and the car is fine. look at the photo. does that look like it is fine? 39.8 mpg? not a chance. the car lurches, stalls and runs out of gas between 120 and 60 miles left on the dte gauge. when you fill up you can tell their is 3 gallon at least in the tank. the gas tank is collapsed. the sending unit / fuel gauge is crushed. yet ford says the car is fine. it's fixed.

Car has stalled six times in one week transmission has shift to neutral while in drive when car stalls have to pull to side of road and put in park and restart transmission shudders no power very dangerous situation almost rear -ended by truck an engine malfunction service now message will display on message screen yesterday was by far the worst day engine dies pull to side of road put in park restart put in drive like it was in neutral turn car off restart put in drive very little power to transmission pull back over to side of road restart put in drive had power to transmission.will park vehicle until situation is resoved

Car stops accelerating at roughly 25 mph despite continuous pressure on gas pedal. only to get the car moving again was to bring the car to a complete stop and then press gas pedal again only to have the problem repeat. the clutch system on this care and the related software was replaced 6 weeks ago. this is a absolute safety hazard. please help as this is a widely known issue and the manufacturer is unwilling to respond to the matter. the repair cost for new clutch is $1,000 + each time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and the service engine warning indicator illuminated. afterwards, the contact parked the vehicle. when she placed it in reverse, the vehicle failed to move backwards. the contact stated that helfman ford (located at 2220 southwest fwy, meadows place, tx 77477, (281) 240-3673) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair and stated that the part was not available for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified. the part was not available for the repair. the failure mileage was 109,925. parts distribution disconnect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while the vehicle was idling, it failed to move when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle also experienced hesitation when accelerating and shut off on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that there was electrical failure and a faulty transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 56,000.

Purchased car in april 2019. took it back to dealer a few times needs a whole new clutch

After the recall "repair" my car began exhibiting the issues described in the recall. this system caused my clutch to burn up and now ford will not repair issue. stepping on the gas either floods engine or stalls engine. issue is especially noticed when leaving a stopped state.

My transmission shutters when starting to move when transmission in warm. i have had this repaired once and they replaced some kind of rubber seals. they also replaced the brain box for the transmission.

Inquiry from congressman jeanne shasheen on behalf of her constituent, reg: complaint towards ford dealership, request to look into possible recall of 2014 ford focus se transmissions. *ld *js

April 25 2019 to this day july 10th 2019 is when everything started breaking down out of nowhere, i'm going to work at 6am i notice my car starting up odd and so on my way to work i was getting on the high way as i was accelerating something happened in my car that made a loud noise and my car bucked as if it was having trouble trying to rev so i turned my emergency lights and managed to get to work by driving slowly and man was it a scare. i ended up leaving my car overnight at work and got it towed to a local mechanic saying my radiator was busted ($260 out my pocket), looked online to see about any recalls and saw i had a couple to be fixed and that's when i took it in to a local dealer ford dealership and they supposedly fixed my car but when i got it back it was just as bad and i even started getting messages on my dashboard about my lid compartment being open making me get off on red lights to get out and close the trunk. then my second time being stranded on my way to work, same thing starting off my car felt odd but this time i made it to work but as soon as i pulled into the parking lot my car had felt like it died and stalled right as i was parking and when i got off and locked my car it started making weird mechanical noises, that's when i had to get it towed the next day again but this time the mechanic told me it was my transmission module, so i go online again and see there is an extended warranty for my exact problem. so i take it in to the dealer so they can fix it but they turn out telling me i have a hole in my transmission and that they can't fix the problem even though it's due to the computer software malfunctioning causing it to break now the dealership is asking 2,000-5,000 to replace. i'm sick and tired to be honest i'm about to lose my job for going in late, i've paid a month already without even using the car i need help.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 40 mph, the engine stalled and the transmission fault service warning indicator illuminated. the contact was able to safely park the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to smith ford (located at 908 e oak st, conway, ar 72032, (501) 329-9881) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 96,914.

My module control to the transmission went out, i paid to have it replace. now my car is at ford because the motor clutch to the transmission needs to be replace, this happened within a week of getting out of the shop for the first time. i can't upload anything, car has been at ford since june 20

My 2014 focus dps6 transmission under normal acceleration refuses to shift out of first gear until it hits high rpms (around 5000rpm), pauses, then lurches forward shifting up into a gear with a low rpm in the 1000s causing further issue and delay accelerating. this began happening on a city street, accelerating from a stop. while it did not cause an accident, it is clearly very dangerous as the pause and subsequent lack of rpms has placed me in bad situations where my ability to react is delayed and i am unable to rely on my vehicle to accelerate consistently or as expected. this is in addition to the more typical shuddering and delay during acceleration nuisance which is common among this dps6 transmission. the subsequent service invoice is attached, can also provide video of the issue.

We got in the car and turned it on and engine wouldn't turn over. eventually it started after a couple of turns of the key and check engine light came on. put shifter in reverse and nothing happened. acted as if was still in park or neutral. once in drive hard shifting into second and third gear as it's done in the past. first time the tcm was replaced and second time the clutch was replaced. all within the last six months. this will be the third time with the transmission acting up. this vehicle is unsafe! unfortunately it's the only vehicle i have and is my families transportation. should be my second complaint. first time was through ford motor company over the phone.

Transmission shudders upon acceleration from a stop or from a slow speed. repairs were made under warranty a few times. issue has returned but ford is saying car is out of warranty so we must pay for repairs. there is a recall 14m01 that extends warranty on transmission for our year, make, model, symptom, and transmission but ford says our vin is not included. they cannot tell me why it's not included, just that it is not. car has 51,000 miles on it, and requires its 4th transmission repair. dealership has told us that our car has same problem with transmission that many ford focuses have.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission overheated and check engine warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. a message displayed on the instrument panel, indicating to wait five minutes to restart the vehicle. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or reproduce the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. joe myers ford (located at 16634 northwest fwy, houston, tx 77040, (713) 766-3600) was contacted via telephone. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

The vehicle is having hard jerking/shuttering due to a clutch malfunction during first and second gear. for a while i've had the same jerking (sometimes very bad) that everyone else has had due to a clutch malfunction. i received a letter for the recall from ford and when i went to have the clutch fixed the dealership called to inform me that i was not eligible due to having a branded title. the dealership looked up my vin number when i was making an appointment and proceeded to tell me after i dropped my car off and they had it for the whole day.the reason my car is a branded title is due to cosmetic damage, nothing to do with the front of the car. all of the parts on the car are the original manufactured parts. this being said, i'm having a concern that even though the clutch is the exact same as others without branded titles i am not allowed to get it fixed even and the part malfunctioning was fords own doing.

I bought my car with 70,000 miles on it (not from a ford dealership) about 10 months ago and from day one i noticed a slight shudder when taking off. now i'm at 86,000 miles and the shuddering is becoming more violent and my car seems to be bogging down frequently and is very slow to take off. after bringing my car to framingham ford in framingham ma i was told i needed a new clutch but i was not under the extended manufacturer warranty and the fix would be $1,800! the guy i spoke with at the ford dealership told me to call ford and tell them the situation because this is an very common problem that ford is well aware of. i called ford and spoke with a woman that told me there is nothing they can do for me and i should keep my receipts from any future fixes for the transmission and hope that ford sends out refunds.

Transmission (the dsp6) computer (transmission control module, or tcm) is prone to failure resulting in a car that cannot be driven reliably on roads without potentially falling into an unintentional neutral. on april 6th, upon starting the car up i was unable to reverse, and managed to limp to the dealer in low gear only. as at least one gear was known to be non-functional, i could not endanger myself or others on the road by attempting to shift gears further for concern of it failing completely or falling into neutral in traffic.

I own a a 2014 ford focus. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle shuddered and shook violently. when shifting between first and second gears, there was an abnormal vibration in the vehicle. on several occasions, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle over and under accelerated and then hesitated. the dealer diagnosed that the manual clutch, power train control module, and transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the total costs is $1,590. the ford dealership did not contact the manufacturer to make them aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
