Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2013 Ford Focus

My car is having issues shifting. it is an automatic car. there is issues accelerating. when stopped i hit the gas pedal and its fine until it shifts, then the car stalls for a few seconds and then catches up. it does this every time it goes to shift gears until about 35 mph. it is out of warranty to fix the transmission, but it posses a huge safety risk.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving at low speeds the vehicle stalled and restarted independently. the transmission fault warning light was illuminated as well as the service vehicle message was displayed. the contact called. simi valley ford 2440 first st, simi valley, ca 93065 (805) 583-0333, however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 107,000.

My radio has very high static and i cannot use my phone system. my fuel gauge is not reading properly. my car just shuts off while i am driving it. when i pull off the engine stalls. these issues have been on going every since i owned the car. it is a complete lemon.

While driving the lights come on the dashboard and the car stops automatically and the car doesn't turn on for while, then after two hours it turns on and i drive it for another five days and that happens again almost an in crash or i was very lucky for a very bad accident and i called a tow truck to send my car home and since then is undrivable which is parked in my house

On my way from work went to leave and press gas paddle car. act like it speed up hill . car start stuttering making a grinding noise jerking. got half way home it start smoking. . when i first bought car i had to put in shop because of transmission problems it one thing after another ive done already had several recalls done on it. now its given me more problems. always on the high way

Car began to stall and completely shut down. while in drive, with my foot on brake at a red light a error code flashed on dash " transmission not in park" and then it shut off. car stalled 4 more times in a matter of a hour, twice while in park and car was just running. last time at a red light in drive . took 30-40 seconds to restart car, very unsafe.

The car has had several recalls and transmission problems since the day i got it. it has clutch issues that leaves me stalled stuck in gear in the middle of rush hour traffic. it has left me stuck in my garage and not being able to go in reverse for days at a time.

I've had transmission problems since purchasing the car. two days ago the car would not go into reverse and the engine light came on - it was stuck in the garage at this time. i was finally able to get the car to reverse and the light went off a few hours later. yesterday the car, again, would not reverse and the engine light came back on. this time it was stuck in a parking lot. after many attempts, some of which lead to the car not starting at all, the car finally turned on, and reversed after roughly half an hour. this morning i took the car to webb ford in highland, in for repairs as the transmission has a 100,000 mile warranty. the dealership said they are backed up for over 2 weeks and would not even let me leave my car. the nest closest dealer in calumet city, il is not taking transmission work at all. now, after leaving work, my car will not go over 15mph without jerking and chugging and it seems that i have no way to get the transmission fixed even though it's under warranty because no one will take my car.

The car, is now , beginning to not start,. which i suppose that doesn't matter since the transmission is still completely out, i wish ford would fix it, or go ahead and allow me to collect on the settlement

Car stalled on 99 highway without any warning losing all power and unable to restart. towed to dealership and was informed tank was now deformed due to the vapor system lock of the cpv safety recall notice 18s32 technicians have sent pictures that they are in possession of and said they could not give us copies of but allowed us to see and showed us the technicians recommendations for tank to also be replaced along with the cpv . ford customer service centers have not returned phone calls after being informed of our concerns and state specs due not met there requirement so therefor are refusing to pay for tank to be replaced . although the specialist states different.

The car is overheated after 5 minutes of ignition, the engine stopped when the car was running and then the check engine light came on

Starting to drive car hesitates and vibrates.

When driving the vehicle it causes a stuttering movement from a stop. when pressing the gas from a stopped position it starts to shake upon acceleration. the car almost feels like the transmission is slipping and may cause the vehicle to stop. i feel that i am unsafe when this happens.

2013 ford focus jerks while accelerating, was told recall was for extended warranty only via kindle ford. also the trunk no longer opens, but beeps when car is on saying the trunk is open. was told this was a recall in 2017 that was fixed before we purchased the vehicle, but now it's up to us to pay for it.

This focus has gave me nothing but problems . i've had it for almost 4 years in january. and it's left me stranded numerous times multiple trips to the delership lets not get started on how awful they are. i'm going to trade it in . never will i buy another ford !!

My sterling get stuck and my transmission making noise and my car dont go into reverse

I purchased my brand new 2013 ford focus, from the dealer in may of 2013. i took it back a week later because it was "clunky" when accelerating. the ford dealership told me "the car just needs to learn how you drive, we will reset the computer". since then i have had it "reset" 4 times and am on my 3rd clutch repair. last week while braking my car decided to accelerate instead. this is the 4th time in a year, one resulting in a bumper on bumper accident with minimal damage. i dont feel safe driving my car, i commute two hours a day. ford should be ashamed of themselves! if the i had been told back in 2013 when i purchased that there was an issue i would have traded that car the first week.

Vehicle stalls erratically due to a fuel delivery issue. leaves driver stranded with no means of starting the car. ford is aware of the issue via nhtsa recall number: 18v735 but no solution has been implemented yet.

Drove to work fine, on my way home, alert comes on steering wheel fault and then i can barely turn the wheel. i panic and pull into auto zone, which they say i may need power steering fluid so i buy a bottle. look in the car book to see where to put it, turns out this car isnt equip with that, i have an esp! get in the car again and everything is fine no alert and i can drive it fine. next day i go to drive and again i have an alert and can not drive!!! this is my 1st car ever and in the 2yrs i've had it nothing but recalls on it! this needs to be a recall to many are complaining about the same issue. what if this happen on a highway!?!?! on top of this i'm still waiting for a fix to the gas gauge issue, and the transmission was supposedly fix but it's still doing the same thing after a full stop, it has a hard time going again!!!!! i will never by a ford vehicle again

Transmission system on dash doesn't recognize car is in park or any changes in gear. it refuses to start (or even crank).

I have a 2013 ford focus se. i bought it used at 84k miles from a dealership in february of 2019. first time i got gas after buying the car it had trouble starting afterwards. had that fixed and it doesn't stall but the miles to empty reads incorrectly now. also started making a grinding sort of noise when i'm going up slight inclines. when i go from a stop light or stop sign it shudders during accelerating. i was getting onto the highway and had to stop on the entrance ramp due to road work and almost couldn't get enough power to get onto the interstate. currently this website is saying all of my recalls have been repaired.

We had transmission clutches replaced through recall. this did not fix problem. while driving, car will start flashing transmission error, hill assist error, breaking error , etc.. then the car will stall. we have taken it to dealer 3 times now. this has happened on busy city streets and highway.

On friday, may 30. 2019, around 5:00pm, i was driving to a family event. i had just stopped for gas about 15 minutes prior to the incident happening. as ibwas driving and i came to a stop. just as the light turned green, signaling for me to go, and i released my foot from the brake and began to accelerate, my car stalled. i was in the middle of a very busy intersection. i immediately put on my hazard lights, put my car in neutral, and began pushing it out of the street. there was smoke coming from the hood that eventually dissipated. i made several attempts to restart my car and it never would. i called my roadside assistance provider and had my car towed home. i have been trying to figure out the issue when today i had a reader plugged into my car to test for any error codes. surely, codes p0100, p2227 and p0456 all came up. as i researched these codes, i was brought to the nhtsa website and found thid recall that i was never notified of and there's no remedy for. i am without transportation.

My 2013 ford focus has an issue with a stuttering/shuddering type feeling. when i am stopped and then begin to try and accelerate is when the problem occurs. this has been very dangerous at times when i am entering traffic after being stopped. my car does not get to proper speed quickly enough.

I just got the car from dealership with financing it, they didn't know notify me, that there was an unfixible recall!!! i am a single mom, it was my long way to getting a car, i want it be safe for me and my daughter, i don't, it won't even last 6 years, i am really upset!!!! please fix ingeen light pops on, hatchback opens, airbag is pff

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle began to jerk, hesitate, and the transmission would not switch into second gear. the vehicle was taken to ford autonation (2 auto center dr, tustin, ca) where it was diagnosed that the transmission lever assemblies, the engine cylinder, and the transmission clutch were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 129,000.

The transmission has been giving us problems since we got the vehicle. right now, it is again in the shop. it is repaired and then there is another problem with the same system. when we take it into the shop, numerous problems show up. we have had the vehicle for only a little over a year so it would seem to indicate that there are serious problems.

along with the myriad of ford dps6 transmission problems, and repairs over the past 4 years, i alsoy had an event that could have caused a fatality directly related to the performance of the power train and engine. while attempting to make a light acceleration for a city green traffic signal for a left 90 degree turn the car unilaterally increased the speed and rpm's. the car was moving so fast i nearly hit a tree on the opposite side of the intersection at a high rate of speed. i had to repeatedly hit the gas peddle with my foot to stop the acceleration, while maintaining directional control of the vehicle. i am still waiting for ford to contact me about the other fuel recall issue related to this vehicle so they can address this issue as well.

When accelerating the car makes a loud noise when trying to shift and hesitates when giving it gas. car was purchased in jan 2019 and had been doing this since we owned the car.

Since ive purchased my ford focus back in 2013 i have taken the car back to ford dealership on numerous occasions in relation to the faulty transmission and electrical issues. on my 5th attempt my transmission was replaced. this was around the end of 2017 to 2018. on may 2nd 2019 i was driving to work and as soon as i turned on the car the windsheild wipers started to go off and for some reason i could not turn them off. once i arrived onto my work campus i turned the cornee to park my car... when all of a sudden my car flashed an error message on my dash stating the following, " transmission failure repair now". i calmly parked the car and within seconds of turning off the car i see smoke and then flames from the bottom of my engine hood. i quickly exited the car abd the flames got bigger and bigger. the fire department was called and the had to smash the back window due to the flames that had over taken the front of the car. unfortunetly my car is not a total loss. i was at the end of my contract agreement with ford and inly having to pay 6400 left on my loan. ive called their customer service to complain and see what can be done and was told i would get a letter in 2 weeks by their legal council. this has caused me to delay my entry into nursing school since now i have to work to handle the car the new car i just had to buy. i need transportation for work and ford took that from me. ive now seeked out a lawyer to see what can be done. with all the times i asked for help and i ended up seeing my car go up in smoke. im just so thankful i was able to get out iof the car in time. but believe me im still shaken and this has caused me to never buy ford again.

Tl* the contact was calling on behalf her client who owned a 2013 ford focus. the driver was driving at 35 mph and decreasing to 15 mph in order to make a left turn, the vehicle stalled with no warning, as a result the vehicle crashed a tree. the airbags failed to deploy. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). both the driver and the front seat passenger were transported by ambulance for medical treatment. the driver sustained neck, back, and shoulder injuries as well as a fractured knee. the front seat passenger required three surgeries due to the injuries sustained from the crash. a police report was filed with case number: 0046196919u. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but a failure was not diagnosed as the vehicle was deemed a total loss. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

There is an engine check light on my dash bord and when i driving on the highway the engine completely shut off two times by this wk. and also when i driving up hill the car force becomin weak

While waiting in traffic on a hill or accelerating uphill the check engine light randomly turns on and the vehicle immediately shuts off. this has left me rolling to a stop on the freeway and even rolling backwards downhill unable to turn the car back on. today i barely pulled over on the side of the road before i started to coast backwards. recall was posted 10/22/18 and there is no solution yet over 4 months later.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle started jerking intermittently without warning. the contact stated that the failure occurred when driving forward and reversing. the vehicle was taken to robert horne ford (3400 tomahawk rd, apache junction, az 85119) and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in an unknown recall. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 107,112.

I called washington ford in washington, pa on 1/17/2019 regarding a check engine light due to ford focus recall (purge valve). they scheduled an appointment for 1/30/2019 to fix the recall. took my car in on the eve of 1/29/2019 and dropped it off. they called me the following day to say they didnt have the part available. they instructed me to pick up my car and said they would call when part came in. i had an inspection scheduled for 2/7/2019 and they told me it would come in prior to my inspection. i never heard from them but called back a few times, telling them i had new codes coming up on my obd sensor (fixd) the car had been running rough, stalling out while idling/stopped.. they assured me it was safe to drive. they did not get part in by 2/7/2019 and i missed my inspection. two new codes came up on my car and i called angrily on 2/14/2019 to ask if they need me to take car to a different location, and they told me they were just about to call me to tell me parts came in.. we scheduled for 2/22/2019 to have recall fixed. they told me rental cars aren't covered under this recall when i explained the problems with scheduling so many appointments and having difficulty finding other transportation. on 2/17/2019 my car shut off while driving, on a major road (route 40). i was able to coast down a side street and pull into driveway at the bottom of the hill. had the dealership fixed the problem the day they originally scheduled me, i would have a working car. now, i'm afraid more damage has been done, as there are 7 total codes on my obd sensor(there were 3 when i first called about recall). the dealership should have never scheduled me when they didn't have the right part in stock, or a rental car should have been provided until they corrected the problem. i'm very unsatisfied with the customer service level at this location!

Ford has issued a recall regarding the fuel tank deformation but they state that the car should not have any issue when it's above 1/2 of a tank. i have experiences the car stalling around 3/4 of a tank multiple times now. the car engine shuts off when i take my foot off the gas, the dashboard lights come on. i have to park the car and restart it. ford has not been able to fix the issue due to lack of parts since i took my car in on dec. 6th.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. when the contact restarted the vehicle, the power steering assist warning message displayed and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. after turning the engine off, the contact indicated that the vehicle would not restart. the vehicle was towed to ganley ford west (16100 lorain ave, cleveland, ohio) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the failure mileage was 84,000.

We received a recall notification for my vehicle in december 2018 from ford. we were told that as long as the gas tank is filled at 1/2 a tank, the vehicle is safe to drive. since we received the letter, my vehicle has stalled on the highway three separate times, each time resulting in the car having to be pushed to a safer location. it doesn't seem like anything is being done to fix the situation and it's becoming unsafe to drive. i wanted to file a complaint against ford motor company for not fixing this issue in a timely manner before it becomes a more serious issue with my husband being hit by another vehicle at 70+ mph on the highway.

My focus is under ford recall...it is experiencing stalling and loss of power and difficulty starting. ford says it will be fine if i keep a half tank of fuel in tank, but all the symptoms are happening with over half a tank of fuel. they will not provide a loaner/rental vehicle and the local dealer will not either. they both tell me the same thing about half a tank of fuel. but it is not safe to drive due to the stalling and loss of power. there is no parts available and they don't know when they will be available.

Ford has declared a recall in october of 2018. as of january 22 2019, nothing has been remedied.

Takata recall initially the car started shaking and making terrible noises. after parking it, the car would not go into reverse. it was towed to a "dealer" facility where they did some "repairs" on the transmission.....$600. the car was transferred to me and i have experienced a loss of forward power several times. after a short wait period it will start. i have been involved in an accident.....pulled onto the 4 lane one way highway and lost power....bam . the car also has the "shudder" issue while idling.. it feels like the engine will stall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 5 mph, the vehicle lost power and the check engine indicator illuminated. in addition, the steering wheel failed and was difficult to turn. also, the fuel gauge was inoperable. the vehicle was taken to jarrett scott ford of plant city (2000 e baker st, plant city, fl 33563 (877) 751-9729) to be diagnosed, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. the contact stated that the vehicle should be included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 102,000.

My current problem is after fueling up my car it starts and then stalls, then the next restart it turns over about 5 to 10 seconds and starts and then has a erratic idle and it may stall again, or if i manage to take off it will run ok, unless i have to stop within a 100 yards, and it then may stall again, or have a erratic idle around 2000 rpms, then idles down to the 750 area if i'm lucky, only after fueling up. every start afterwards starts and runs fine until the next gas up. i have an engine code i believe they said was a evap code, my fuel tank is starting to concave on the bottom. i talked to my dealership and they said i'm not part of the recall, although he said i fit all the parameters of the recall, but my vin number its in the system. i'm looking for help and hope someone can contact ford ! ps this is on going and very dangerous! thank you, very disappointed in ford. ps ps the transmission is another forty pages of info if you ever have the time to talk. *tr
