This vehicle has a pretty significant engine shudder as well as a rattling noise between first and second and second and third gears. vehicle at times feels like it is going to stall out. this is a safety issue in all intersections and this vehicle should be recalled.

In august 2012 i went to close my drivers door and it would not latch closed. the safety latch had broken in the open position and my door would not close at all. i called the ford dealer and they replaced the latch under the warranty. then on february 27 2016 my daughter went to close the front passenger door, and the door would not latch shut. i had to tie the door closed with ropes to hold the door closed. both times the car was parked. but again it was the door safety latch that failed and broke in the open position. 50% of the door latches on this car have now failed. i know there's an investigation ongoing about the door latches from ford, and that my car is not part of the recall. today, march 1 2016 ford diagnosed the problem as a faulty door latch. they have yet to decided if they will cover the cost of the replacement part and labor. it's my personal belief that the remaining 2 latches on the rear doors will fail in time. it's my belief that ford needs to replace all 4 safety door latches.

Vehicle lost transmission while driving uphill on a 45 mph roadway, in june 2014. vehicle would not move. when you stepped on the gas pedal the car would not move. had to turn the vehicle off and let sit for several moments. once started vehicle was operable. on another occassion transmission was again not operating properly and vehicle would not accelerate . this happened on a 55 mph highway and almost caused vehicle to cause an accident, since vehicle would not funtion property (sept. 2014). in august 2015 motor vehicle would "jump" all the time while driving. in august 2017, the car again would not accelerate over 20 mph and the transmission light was on. this again happened while driving on a 55 mph highway, almost causing a motor vehicle accident because vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph. i was forced to pay $484.17 to ford dealership for repairs, when in fact repairs were due to faulty transmission, which ford knew about.

The vehicle's clutch has had to be replaced or reprogrammed about six or seven times now in the last two years. this is a known defect to ford and they have issued a recall.

2013, 2014, transmission clutch replaced, 2015 waiting for another transmission clutch replacement. rear ended in 2014 when car bogged down getting on highway. car died twice while on highway . told by ford customer care & dealership car was safe to drive before both incidents. car revs up to high rpms for no reason while driving.. very scary. !!!! car has not driven correct since the day it left the dealership !!

Shutters/ grinding noise/ tugs and jolts at low speeds and up hills. when in bumper to bumper traffic message on dash, overheating transmission pull over wait 8 minutes. *tr

The focus has a manufacturers problem with the transmission clutch. it often breaks and often leaves me stranded. it will stop accelerating or get stuck when accelerating on the highway and i've almost had a few accidents because of it. i have also been stranded on the side of the road because of it late at night. ford has fixed it four times now with no resolution. they say its a common problem that they can patch but not exactly fix.

My ford focus was sold with a defective product.the transmission contains a defect that causes, among other problems, transmission slips, bucking, kicking, jerking, harsh engagement, premature internal wear, sudden acceleration, delay in downshifts, delayed acceleration, difficulty stopping the vehicle, and, eventually, transmission failure. these conditions present a safety hazard because they severely affect my ability to control the car's speed, acceleration and deceleration. these defects make the focus extremely unsafe to drive, not only for the passengers in the focus, but also for pedestrians and passengers of other motor vehicles, including families and children.

While driving the car, i noticed that the car was shifting odd. there was no power in the low gears. shifting from 1st to 2nd was very harsh. when i brought it to ford they said i needed a new clutch. i bought the car with 30000 miles on it and was surprised by this. it was replaced under warranty. then in september of 2014 i started having the same issues. during that time i had put on 40000 or so. brought it back to ford and they said it was a part that was "recalled". i had the seals and everything else replaced under the 14m01 recall. this included a new clutch again. now it is may 2015, i have driven the car about 20000 or so from the last time i had any work done and all of the symptoms of my last to repairs are back. i need another new clutch (this will be the 4th in the car). considering all of my driving is on the highway this not good. it is a safety concern.

Bought 11/9/2012 six months later rec'd emission recall, 1yr later would not start, dead in grocery parking, dealer said emission again, 2nd yr radio went out, 3rd yr catalylict converter need to be changed, 5/16/2017 was charged $1805.72, said not emission but it was doing the same thing as before, dead had to be towed again to dealer, dealer said, "codes po420, po7a3 tested, found converter stopped up, shift actuator faulty, removed transmission replaced clutch actuatorsand clutch, removed & replaced manifold/coverter assembly. now twice so far engine malfunction light, no power, goes 5 miles....... when turned off in about 45-1 hr, starts.... all this while driving or parked in a parking lot.

My transmission shutters very badly i have had it at the dealer in los lunas new mexico. it is still not fixed. my streering assist light came on and ihaveno power steering. after the last oil change to change oil light will not go off even after the reset procedures have been followed. the lighter does not work. o and to top it off i just got a recall letter something to do with electrical failure . but had nothing to do with the above problems. this is way many for a car of its age i am sure i have a lemon. what can be done?

The car has more than three major recalls .and ford don't have the parts for repairs.. airbags , electronic clutch. and some other problems with no part s coming in!!!!! car has not been repaired.l have taken it in four time and told the parts are just coming in.temp repairs i am so so very tried of this! i have been a ower of 4 new fords cars. and a customer for ford & gmc not again.

My transmission doesn't work right and never has, from the minute i drove it off the lot. it jerks, very hard at times, it shudders, and worst of all, it hesitates, so when you pull out at times you pray it kicks in before you end up getting hit and killed. i told my son after less than six months of owning this car that if i get killed because of it, i want him to sue ford. they refuse to fix it because they don't stand behind their products! they don't care if consumers get hurt or killed, obviously. it looks good and rides good, but is a lemon because of the trans. they maintain that it only makes it miserable to drive, but they doubt you'll get killed, so refuse to help. these are some sort of transmissions that were converted from manual to automatic and not very well, at that. i've been to three dealers and they won't help, saying their hands are tied because corporate doesn't feel it's going to kill anyone. i thought i would buy a ford, being from se mi. talk about misguided loyalty! just because nobody's been killed yet doesn't mean it won't happen. it doesn't work, plain & simple. and if it's this poor now, what will happen in another year or two? i am beyond disgusted and completely frustrated with this uncaring company who sells you junk for top dollar and then refuses to help you with a problem that is totally and completely their fault!

Ever since i have owned this car since may 2012 it has shuddered when driving, stalled while driving, and shakes and does not increase speed when the accelerator is stepped on. the car now does not even start when it is turned on, despite the battery being good. car was towed into dealership several times and they supposedly fixed it. did several repairs to it but to this date it still shudders and stalls while driving. the latest repair they did was to fix the alternator...we will see....have come to the conclusion this model has several defects and would term it as a lemon. it barely has 60,000 miles on it and a car this new should not be having these issues as they are safety issues and i fear for me and my childrens lives and safety as this car does not function safely and stalls when we are driving! when i expressed my concerns to ford over these issues they took no action except to tape record my complaints...they do not care about these safey issues....the car has been in the dealership service center four times in the last four months....the last repair bill cost me $650....but i have no faith that they (ford) have fixed the problems.....i am fearful to drive this car but i am a single mother and cannot afford to trade the car in for another as the ford sales person told me no bank would loan me money on another car as i owed too much on this lemon that ford has sold me....ford was of no help and does not care....i told them that it would take someone dying in a car crash from these defects in order for ford to do something about these issues.....these issues happen while the car is in motion and when it is sitting still...the car will not start and has to be towed into the repair shop...

Three weeks after buying my brand new 2012 ford focus, the car began to hesitate on the highway. i complained to the dealer who said it was a ford problem and not theirs. the following month, i almost died in the car. a regional manager from ford came to the dealership to speak with me, resolved nothing. i followed lemon law protocol and documented everything through the service dept. more than 12 visits. four visits before the near fatal crash and the remainder afterwards. ford ran out the statute of limitations on my vehicle so they did not have to pay me. the vehicle has a propensity of turning off when accelerating to 65 mph. when making a turn or u-turn the car hesitates. ford admitted to manufacturer defect and still would not put me in my original position which has left me with disc displacements beneath my brain stem. i have chronic neck pain every day of my life. i was making a left hand turn and had plenty of time to turn. a white utility van flew out of the lane to try to beat the light as i was turning. the car turned off and i had to brace for impact. the car would not start. two additional malfunctions caused the car to veer left and crash into curbs. last week, i had to make a u-turn. i had plenty of time. while turning, the car hesitated, and the car was stopping, the way it did in 2012. i was almost killed by an 18-wheeler who thought i was initiating road rage. he then followed me and ran me off the road coming one inch to the side of my vehicle. i tried to take pictures, but my hand was trembling. ford needs to replace my vehicle at the replacement value from july of 2012 and obey the va lemon law statute. ford offered me a buy out of $8,000 in december 2018. i had to lay out $14,000 for a new vehicle. they should have credited all of my car payments $17k, and provided a settlement for permanent spine and neck injuries. accountability is demanded.

Horn was working on and off for first few years i had the car. now, it doesn't work at all.

Ive had issues with the steering wheel since i 1st got the car. in the beginning it would like a couple minutes and then be fine. i noticed it when it was super cold or even just kind of cold. there have been a couple of times when the weather was fine and the steering was still very hard to turn. id have issues in the morning by the time i left the parking lot it was fine and when i got in my car after work the same thing (with in a few minutes was fine). i've taken my car in many times but they could never figure out an issue. now its 2020 and its been "out" since thursday today is monday and i just had it towed to the car dealer ship. every time this issues occurred my car was in part i never got a warning message until today. ive always been at home or at work where my car has sat for a few hours

We have an unsafe transmission in our 2012 ford focus, we have had trouble since we bought it new aug. 2011. ford refuses to fix the problem.
