Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2012 Ford Focus

The door wont shut anymore, it flew open! i was driving home and made a hard turn the door flew open almost hit another car. now it wont stay shut at all, called ford they said $400-$500 to fix it! i say hell no!

Driver side passenger door latch failure. door does not shut close and latch and does not lock. door has to be tied down from the inside of the vehicle to keep the door closed while driving. fortunately this did not happen while driving! it occurred when i wen to get something out of the back seat and upon attempting to shut the door....nothing! the door would not shut and remained open. this is the second time a door latch on this same vehicle has failed. just 2 months ago the drivers door latch failed and the door would not shut under any circumstance as with this one. fortunately there has not been an injury or worse a death do to this faulty latch mechanism. by the way, the first door latch cost me $550 to repair and i am holding off on repairing this door latch until there is a recall as with 2 other ford model cars that used the same latches. please recall this is very dangerous!!!

In june 2016 my driver's door latch broke and my door would fly open as i drove it. i was informed there is no recall for the ford focus 2012. i paid the $385 for repairs. yesterday my passenger door had the same problem. i am getting nowhere by calling the national ford number and i am getting nowhere with our local dealership. some ford models have been recalled, but not mine. i am fearful to have my grandchildren in the car with me. who knows when the back doors are going to break since both front doors have broken?! fortunately i was in a parking lot both times the doors broke. it is very difficult driving home 30 miles while holding a door shut.

The door latch on the front driver's side door is broken and will not allow the door to close. i cannot lock the car door or shut it. when i attempt to close the door it "pops" back open. the incident occurred while the vehicle was in motion on a city street while turning. i was driving and the door suddenly opened by itself when making a turn, due to the broken latch.

Driving down the road the rear drivers side door came open on its own, it has done this several times, it does not latch, and is very dangerous.

Door latch on the drivers side door flew open while in transit. driver made a right hand turn and the d/s door opened and would not latch closed after that. took it to a repair shop and they quoted me $500 to fix. looked up recalls and there are known issues with ford vehicles for door latches, yet no official recall on the ford focus.

I was driving home from work ,and the driver door latch failed. the door came open while the vehicle was in motion, and nearly caused an accident. the vehicle currently has about 49,000 miles on it. all schedule maintenance is up to date.

Driver's door flew open almost hitting oncoming truck while driving my daughter to school. ford dealer could not guarantee same day fix, local mechanic had to order part, entire door mechanism plus labor $450 and one missed day of work.

We have had our 2012 ford focus for 3 years. in the last year, the door latch that keeps the door shut, has broken! the first incident happened june 2015. we were in a parking lot and our passenger tried to close her door (back left) and it wouldn't stay shut. unfortunately, she had to hold the door until we made it home safely. we didn't think much of it at the time, we figured she'd probably slammed it too hard or got the seat belt stuck. we purchased the part for $120 and decided to fix it ourselves since the dealership was charging $600! fast forward to two days ago. we were on our way back home when my husband turned left and the back right door swung wide open! our 15 month old son was sitting in the back, and i frantically told my husband to pull over, thinking that maybe somehow he might've opened it- although his car seat rear faces and its physically impossible for him to have been able to reach the handle since his car seat is in the middle. we pulled over, and after multiple attempts to shut it, we finally realized what was going on.the latch had broken again, but this time on a different door! we contacted the dealership and they can't do anything because it's not on recall.they were anything but helpful or understanding! i don't get why this hasn't been taken care of because after going online, i have seen thousands of people with the same complaint about the exact vehicle! this is a huge safety hazard and should be dealt with immediately! how many incidents need to happen before it is resolved? does someone need to die? i shouldn't have to worry about this issue on a car that's only 4 years old! needless to say, my husband and i will no longer be buying a ford ever again and will be getting rid of ours, as we do not feel that it is safe for our family. nor do we want to stick around and have to pay for all four door latches, should they break again.

Driver door won't close. car was in motion when door just open. it will not close. stay's ajar.

Left side rear door flew open on a turn, (surprised) pulled over to close door but it would not latch. i am now driving around with the door strapped closed. went to a ford dealer to get fixed but the cost is too high for me right now. very dangerous and this is something that should not happen on a newer car.

When i come to a stop....and then have to start up again...the car doesn't pick up the speed. it stutters and will not get moving for a bit. and then it does. sometimes scary as i am turing into on coming traffic and can't get moving. this happens on city streets after stopping. on a few occasions it has happened while driving on the highway, like it has lost a connection.

At 58,000. horn started to work intermittent, now it does not work at all. what next? already had work done on tranny. every thing seems to be computer related. it also surges at start up at stop.

The driver's side doors, both front and rear, flew open while i was driving on two separate occasions. the first time it happened affected the rear driver's side door. the passenger who was in the rear behind the driver almost fell out of the vehicle. had it not been that i was driving on a residential road, this might have happened. the second incident affected the driver's door, and happened while i was operating the vehicle while accelerating to enter the freeway. neither door latches shut, and i have had to resort to the use of bungee cords and cables to secure the doors. obviously, this is a very unsafe condition that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. i called my local dealer and they told me that my focus was not one of the units recalled, even though the problem is exactly the same as that experienced by fusion, fiesta, and other ford models. the first incident occurred on or about 8/3/16, and the second on 8/17/16.

2012 ford focus driver's side door will not latch. in order to keep the door closed i have to hold it or keep it tied down. due to how unsafe it is, i can no longer operate this vehicle until the issue is resolved. the warning light does appear that the door is open while driving.

Driver side rear door will not latch. i was parked and opened my door from the inside got out and tried to shut the door and it will no longer latch or lock

Vehicle in motion driving about 60-65mph on the highway, the check engine light turned on the dashboard. vehicle could not accelerate felt as if on neutral. i began to lose speed and had the fortune no incoming vehicles were behind me. i shut the car off once on the side of the road. vehicle after being off for 15 minutes was able to drive but reverse gear was none functional.

My 2012 ford focus drivers door latch is broken, this car has 36000 miles on it and ford wants several hundred dollars to repair. i feel like this is a flaw in the car and should be covered by ford. this happened while turning a corner.

Car door lock broke driver side back door. this is the second door lock to break in a month. assuming they will all go out.

Door latch on back side door has failed and i was told that my vin number is not on recall list. while at home went to close back door and it would not close.

I was driving on a city street travelling 50 mph when my car started to stall. i hit the gas and my car jerked and stalled again. then my car read a message that said "transmission malfunction service now." once i was able to get to a safe location, i parked my car and it made some funny sound almost like a clunking noise. this is not the first time my car has stalled out and had transmission issues. this is actually the third time i have been driving my car and been scared out of my mind due to my car stalling out while driving.

On the passenger door, drivers side, i found the door open when i was walking to my car from work. i was fortunate that no one stole anything. i then discovered that the door would not shut. it did not look like a break in and i was informed by the mechanic that there is a problem with the door latch.the mechanic said the door latch was very poorly designed. i researched the problem and it seems this door latch problem is happening with other fords as well. i consider this is safety issue because the door could have swung open when i was driving. i tried contacting ford to discuss this problems but they have not been helpful. apparently there are no recalls on this. currently i am concerned if the other doors will have the same problem-door latch issue.

Door lock stopped working while driving door opened on turn. have to hold the door closed to drive or tie rope to door. major safety hazard drivers door. vin not in recall but fits all symptoms live in warm area in southtexas.

The front driver-side door latch will not engage. i made sure the latch is not closed shut before closing the door. the door latch bar attached to the car goes inside the open latch seamlessly, however the latch will not hold. the only workaround i have found is to hold the door closed, lock the car, then push the door open and shut it again. only then will the latch engage. when this first happened, the vehicle was in motion. i was driving from a restaurant and the "door ajar" light came on, the vehicle map said it was my driver side door. i tried to close it while driving on the highway, no luck, until i came across the workaround mentioned previously.

R/h rear door will not latch, door freely open with no action by user, while moving door open with any turn to the left

I was driving home when my door flew open. i tried to close with no avail. i held my door closed until i got home and it still will not latch. i called to see if there was a recall and of coarse there is not. but was told a pencil would reset it, this did not work.

Audio control module(radio) it does not work. it has nothing but static noises coming out and the car is only 5 years old. this affects what is wrong and there is thousands of complaints. to get it fixed it will cost over $800 to fix it. if you look the radios have been bad in focus, feista, fusion & taurus from 2008 to 2013. ford knows about this problem and now the consumer has to pay for it. since it is electrical it could effect other parts of the system. they told us to put an after market radio system in and that will still cost over $700. i am life time ford buyer and now i fill duped from them.

The front and rear door latch on the drivers side will not keep the door closed. these parts are not available. i have been told that they are on national back order. my vehicle cannot be driven. please include my vehicle in the recall. it is not listed.

I was driving down the street--made a right hand turn and the drivers side door randomly swung open! i pulled over on the side of the street--the door would not close! it would not latch onto the car. i had to driver to my moms house, holding the car door, going 20 mph so that my dad could try and fix it. it took him two hours to get the car door to close!. i havent opened it since then because i'm afraid the door wont close again! ive been having to climb out of the passanger side!

The light showed the left rear door was opened so i open and close the door but it di'd not latch, i continue to close the door the latch wouldn't hold. i looked at the latch and it seemed to be loose, it was broken not sure how or why.

While driving my rear driver side door swung open unexpectedly. the latch will not lock onto the door pin.

Takata recall i own a ford focus 2012 and the latch on the drivers door broke off. it is a plastic piece. when i was making a turn my door flew open. luckily, i had my seat belt on. if not i would have been flying out my vehicle with my children in the back seat.

Drivers rear door latch will not latch. luckily the car was parked at the time. the hook inside the latch just flops back and forth. no matter how hard you shut the door, it will not latch. did internet search and it seems to be a problem with a lot of focus's.

The front door on the driver's side of my car suddenly stopped latching while i was in the middle of a road trip. it was operating correctly until i got out of my car to walk into a gas station. when i returned it would not latch. instead, it would just bounce off the door frame without the latch engaging. i tested the latch to see if it was jammed, but the actual latch itself moved just fine when i moved it with my key. i had to tie the door to my leg with a belt to make the rest of the drive home. on monday, i took the car to the dealership who told me it was a problem with the door latch, and that the entire unit would need to be replaced. the dealership quoted me a price of $680 for the repair, and neither the service manager nor ford customer service were willing to provide any additional assistance. i had it replaced by a local auto shop that i trust, and they were able to do it for much cheaper than ford's service department.

The rear driver's side door spontaneously refused to stay shut. i was parked in my driveway. when i tried to back out of the driveway, the alarm sounded, indicating the rear door was ajar.

While driving my 2012 ford focus the driver's door flew open when making a right turn on a state road. the dash flashed warning at same time door flew open. unable to shut door, drove home holding door shut. had vehicle towed to ford dealership, door latch failure, replaced at my expense. i requested ford dealership return defective part to me. reported to ford customer service department.

Door latch broke. door will not stay closed. vehicle was stationary.

While going down the road my driverside door swung open. once stopped i was unable to get the door to relatch to close. this was a couple months ago. the door is having to be held closed with a rope whilst i crawl through the passenger side door which is very difficult. having 3 kids this is a very scary safely issue. the latch will cost 300-500 to fix. i feel like this is an error in the making of the vehicle and that ford should fix the door latch at no cost.

While at a stop, i tried to close my rear passenger door and the door latch failed to latch and hold the door closed. this is the third door latch to fail on this car.

The driver door would not stay close nor will it locked. i can not drive my car anywhere.

The front driver side door latch broke and the door would not latch shut. i took the car to the dealer for repairs and paid $510.72

The drivers side door came unlatched while driving, would not close.

2 door latches have broken within the past ten days. the car was stationary

My rear passenger door latch broke. door would not close. took to mechanic and latch is broke spring mechanism is gone. forced to have towed to dealership.

The latching mechanism in the driver's side door suddenly stopped working, and the door would not close. there were no outside influences, the mechanism simply stopped working and the door would not latch.

The door latch on the front driver side failed to lock in and the door could not be closed at all whenever i drove or parked the car. it is so dangerous for driving and the car is highly possible to be stolen. i have contacted the ford (berge ford, mesa, az) dealer service to fix the problem, but it costed me $440.00.

The driver side door latch malfunctioned, not allowing the door to shut. my son was driving the car on 07/14/2016 and stopped at the store. upon returning to the car he noticed the lights on and door ajar. when he got in the car, the driver side door would not latch shut. he had to drive home holding the door shut with his hand, while steering with the other. this defect is an extreme safety issue. brought the car to the ford dealership and they advised that it was not covered by recall yet. i have to pay out of pocket.

Car will stall out when stopped. gas needle will not work sometimes. echeck engine light will come on and go off when gas it put into the vwhicle.it

My back passenger side door will not stay closed. i went into the store and when i came back i noticed my indicator kept telling me my door was opened. i got out and tried to close it bit it wouldn't stay closed. i had to use the seat belt just so it could stay closed on the way home. i feel like ford should be held accountable for this malfunction.

My car starts when it want to it went dead on the interstate and would not start until the second time i turn the key it sit for a while and then it started
