How to remove IAC valve

• Begin by disconnecting the air cleaner outlet pipe from the air cleaner assembly. This will allow you to access the IAC valve. If needed, use a screwdriver to either remove the clamps or detach the pipe from the assembly, depending on your specific model.
• Locate the idle air control valve on your Ford Focus. This valve is a cylindrical aluminum component approximately 2 to 3 inches in length. It is attached to the throttle body. The valve is secured near the throttle body with two bolts and has an electrical connector on one end.
• Disconnect the electrical connector attached to the IAC valve.
• Using a wrench or a ratchet and socket, loosen and then remove the two bolts that secure the IAC valve in place.
• If required, raise the front of your Ford Focus vehicle and place it securely on two jack stands. How to clean an idle air control valve

Conducting a cleaning of the valve could be the solution needed to restore proper idling and ensure optimal vehicle performance.

The process of cleaning the idle air control valve yields several advantages for the vehicle's functionality:

• Detaching electrical connection. Unfasten and disconnect the electrical plug linked to the IACV. Three hoses are connected to the valve, so ensure all are detached.
• Detaching valve plugs. If there are any mounting screws atop the idle air control valve, remove them. Disconnect the valve and extract the gasket.
• Removing the gasket. This component might require replacement once removed. If you have a suitable replacement, dispose of the old gasket.
• Applying the cleaner. Spray the carbon cleaning solution into the intake air control valve to eliminate accumulated dirt and grime. Wipe away excess spray using a clean cloth. Follow the product instructions for the recommended soaking time, typically around 10 to 15 minutes. If residue remains, repeat the process until the valve is clean.
• Cleaning the throttle body and intake passages. Clean the idle air control valve's inner channels, as well as the throttle body's outside surface, using the cleaner and a cloth or rag. Give the area at least 30 minutes to air dry.
• Reinstalling the idle air.
