We have classified the 2 complaints from 2013 Ford Fiesta about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Rear passenger side door lock opened by itself after parking car and activating the lock button. i pushed door trying to close multiple times and did not close. i opened all doors, started the car and kept trying to close door, did not close back. i was driving with my kids in the rear seat, very unsafe and scary situation. i tied up the door to driver's seat to get home and search online for help. since then the door does not close at all. *tr
Rear door won't latch. opened the door to put something in the back seat and now door won't latch. *tr
We have had our ford fiesta in on three separate occasions to have the door latch replaced. the door flies open while driving my nephew almost fell out of the car. the just replace it with the same defective parts. the transmission has not shifted properly since we bought it new and the my sync has never worked. this is the worst car we have ever had . *tr
Driving down the road at 45 mph the rear driver side passenger door flew open and then would not close. my 13 year old daughter was seated there at the time and almost fell out! called local dealership and because i am 3 miles over my warranty mileage they will not fix. this is a huge safety issue!!! *tr
The rear driver side latch would not lock and unexpectedly open while driving on 9-11-14. the latch was fixed and less than two months later on 11-7-14 the passenger side latch broke. my son almost fell while driving off since we did not know that the door had not latch. this is unacceptable and ford is well aware of the issue however there has not been a recall. this is a very dangerous condition and can be extremely dangerous and lethal. *tr
Passenger got out when parked, closed door, door did not latch. door finally latched after multiple attempts. later tried to investigate problem, looks like cheap plastic door latch has failed. again got door to latch after multiple attempts. service appointment made, door will be tied shut enroute. many complaints, some while vehicle was moving, no manufacturer action. thanks ford, does someone have to die before you recall this? a child maybe? *tr
The rear passenger door failed to close due to the cheap plastic door latch malfunctioning. i got it fixed the next day. literally two days later, the front passenger door latch broke and failed after my friend had entered the vehicle. we did not realize the door latch failed until after i began driving. the first corner i took, the door flew open and he was nearly ejected from the vehicle! had it not been for his seat belt holding him in the car, he would have been seriously injured. not only is this a serious safety issue, but i was unable to close my door or lock the vehicle in anyway way as a result - leaving my car completely vulnerable and unsecured until i was able to drive it to the dealership (with someone holding the door closed the whole way there) and get it fixed... again! *tr
On august 12, 2014 he right front door latch unit failed after attempting to close the door, it would not stay closed after this. then 3 weeks later (september 4, 2014) the right back door latch failed and would not stay closed. then on march 5, 2015 the left back door latch failed and would not stay closed. also note in march 2014 this also happened to the trunk latch. *tr
On august 8th, the driver's door would not latch. the latch was replaced at the dealer ($450). on september 5th, the front passenger side door stopped latching. we called 5 local dealers before we could find one that had the part as we were told it was on national backorder. when we were able to locate a dealer with the part, we were told that it was reserved for the service department only. if we wanted to be placed on the waiting list to purchase it to have installed elsewhere, we would be #7 on the waiting list. the problem appears identical to the issue that resulted in the escape recall in may: the second case covers about 692,700 escapes. exterior door handles can bind and stop the door from latching properly. this could allow doors to open while the suvs are in motion. *tr
After driving three miles from home early in the morning, i opened my drivers door and closed to leave, but the door wouldn't close. it bounced open. the latch would not work. i took it to the dealer, they said they'd never seen that before. the latch needed to be replaced. after three days they got the part and fixed it. i picked it up on a saturday and the next morning the two rear doors broke. both did the same thing. i took back to the dealer, who said again that he'd never seen anything like it. he told me that he'd have to find out how long it would be to get the parts. this is obviously an issue. the dealer said the parts were on back order from ford and that it wouldn't be in until the end of august. i asked to have the final front passenger side door replaced as well and he said they couldn't do it unless ford recalled the parts or it was broken. i explained that this was a huge safety issue and that there was obviously something wrong. i also called ford, and spoke to their customer service. a manager there said they couldn't have the dealer replace the last door unless it breaks. i guess i should hope that i'm not driving when it does. this needs to be recalled. i have seen a lot of other complaints for the same issue. *tr
For the second time in three weeks two door latches have failed on my car. both times it happened while driving down the road and when i made a turn one of the doors came flying open. first incident occured on june 22nd 2014 and the second incident on july 10th 2014. this caused a serious safety concern if someone was not buckled in and could fall out of the car. i had to use a cargo starp to keep the door shut both times while taking it to the dealership for repair. the door latch modules on these fords are a cheap plastic and become broken very easily with normal use. *tr
While driving the vehicle from orlando, florida to winter haven, florida, i observed the light come on indicating the door was open. i arrived home and checked the doors. the rear passenger door did not close. i can't believe it did not fly open while i was driving. this was on a weekend, so on the 19th of may i drove it to jarrett gordon ford in winter haven. i had to secure the door using bungy cords and i still was getting the door open light. i asked them if this was a problem or if there was a recall, they said they were not aware of any. they repaired the door. on 10/13/2014, i went to run an errand and when i put the key in the admission, it indicated a door was open. i then noticed the front passenger door with the exact same problem. i drove it to jarrett gordon ford again and told them that this was frightening. they said they would check all 4 doors. on 10/14/2014 jarrett gordon ford called me and said that the part needed to repair the door was on back order and it would be two weeks. in the mean time they secured my door using my bungy cords, did not offer me a vehicle to drive and now i am stuck with a broken door for two weeks. this is so dangerous. *tr
The passenger rear door was opened using the outside door handle. after trying to close the door, it would not close and kept bouncing open. after inspecting the latch, it was found out that it was not in the closed or latched position. the "plastic" latch was in the open position and when it was placed into the closed or latched position, it would not latch and just pop open. if this "plastic" latch would have broken while the car was moving one of my children could have fallen out of the moving vehicle. a "plastic" door latch on a "metal" catch is a safety violation. plastic striking metal every time the door is open and closed is not very smart because the plastic will always break, as it has in my vehicle. *tr
Bucking, kicking, jerking, harsh engagement, and delayed acceleration and lurching - rolls backwards on hills - transmission rebuild two times and replaced in 24000 miles, these cars a safety issue and ford needs to take responsibility. ford will not discuss and just keeps deny. they will not return our calls - please help also, all door pawl spring tab latches have failed more then once.
2013 ford fiesta has water leaking into trunk area from rear seat to back of car. car has been to dealer seven times for repair and still has water leak in trunk area. also vehicle has a hesitation when pulling out, transmission jerks and makes grinding noise. car has been to dealer two times to have transmission checked. transmission has been reprogrammed two times and still has same problem. dealer says this is normal operation for this transmission. car feels unsafe when pulling out into traffic, feels like engine is going to stall. *tr
Closed door and door bounced back. locking mechanism has broken twice on two different occasions. *tr
Since shortly after i purchased my car, i've noticed the rear doors are unusually difficult to close completely on the first try. they seem to take a lot of effort to get them to latch properly or else they stay half closed but not completely latched in. i didn't really think much of it until i read a news story yesterday that mentioned a number of complaints about this with doors even opening at speed! i realized that i should let you guys know that i've experienced a similar issue with the doors being hard to latch, although i have been lucky enough to notice and close the doors properly each time it has happened. the back doors on the fiesta (the sedan, at least) are smaller and significantly lighter than the front ones, so i think that may be why the front ones latch fine on the first try, but the back doors are more touchy. i haven't been bothered much by this, but if it is an issue that needs addressed, i felt you might find my experience to be useful information while looking into it! thanks, have a great day! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the trunk failed to open when accessed with the control mechanism unless all four automatic doors were activated previously. the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle operated as designed. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 16.
I opened my driver's door and it would not close. the latch would not catch properly to close my door. i called the dealer to complain & wanted to have them look at it but i did not want to drive with an open door, so i called a tow truck & waited in my car but buy the time the tow truck got there, i was able to close my door. i left for work & was late that day.. this happens all throughout the winter. i had a case #[xxx] but was told they would need to duplicate the problem in order to diagnose. i cannot duplicate this problem. it happens randomly when it's cold outside. i've owned the car for almost 2 years & have had this happen to my trunk latch also, which ford replaced last winter. i still have problems with my drivers door though. i had this problem happen to me probably 20 times or so over 2 years. when it does happen i have to wait in my car with the heat running for about 5 minutes & then the door will close. i called ford and they are looking at my car now, but i was told i will have a $100 deductible if they have to replace my latch even though my car is under warranty. they said hold onto my receipt in case there is a recall in the future i will be reimbursed. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Bought vehicle new in jan 2013. was quiet at the time. has become louder and sounds like something rubbing when turning and sometimes while driving. car is hesitating and stuttering terrible. have almost been hit making turns when it begins to hesitate and then speeds up. dealership told me there is a leak and i need new clutch. they won't have parts for 30 days though. are they going to pay if i get in accident? *tr
