Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Ford Fiesta

Car remains stuttering idiling high then low atemps to shut off from time to time, i have taking vehicle to get checked at local ford dealer only when check engine light comes on and says tcm failure or mal function, they repair the part if it's available but now car still does the same thing only difference no oncheck engine light comes on now all repair has to come out of my pocket because they say no check engine light displayed sonrhwy have to guess whatbitnis. this is a known problem from this model vehicle even had a class action lawsuits which i didn't partake in and ford just won't recall this stupid vehicle. i trusted ford and financed this car for what it eventually will get us hurt or even killed.

The vehicle is straining to pick back up speed once it comes to a stop or slows down. there also seems to be a clicking sound coming from the transmission on the driver side. it seems to have trouble switching over the years because it's a dual transmission i'm suspecting something's wrong with the clutch there seems to be a shutter.

Ford fiestas have received numerous complaints due to the powershift transmission ford installed in the cars. this causes the car to have major delayed acceleration, sporadic jerking while driving, shuddering upon acceleration. i have had to drove off the road multiple times, including tonight on my way home from work, to avoid being hit while merging onto highways or roads due to this delay in acceleration and i know it's only a matter of time before i'm in an accident. ford refuses to do anything other than just replacing the transmission with another one that does the same thing in less than a month after being installed. don't wait for people to get hurt or killed due to ford's neglacancge in their terrible design of these vehicles.

Im not sure if i have selected correct options. but all i know is when i slow my car and they try to accelerate the car does not speed up immediately it take few minutes. hence i have to accelerate more to make the car running. this has always been an issue. quite difficult while switching lanes on highways or taking turns. specially driving in winter is scary. i find the car very unpredictable. i took it to the servicing centre in toronto ca at dufferin for the recall that was issued and the issue is still not resolved. after informing them they just disregarded saying this is an issue with all ford. thinking im a women and dont understand much of cars i forgot about it. even when it rains while applying a brake it startles and doesn't stop immediately. this issue was also discussed with the ford centre at dufferin st in toronto. i sometimes fear to drive my car as i have my child and pets along with me. this is ongoing thing daily so cant specify which date exactly as whenever we drive we have this issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 80 mph, the rpms increased and the vehicle lost power. in addition, the accelerator pedal did not work. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to kunes country ford stateline superstore of antioch (847-395-3900, located at 104 route 173, antioch, il 60002) where it was diagnosed that the dual clutch accelerator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

The transmission is very rough when shifting, hesitating, skipping, does not shift smoothly or easily. i have had the vehicle serviced and been told other transmissions have the same problem. on november 3 2019 the check engine light and maintenance light came on the dashboard. the warning message said transmission needs to be serviced.

Still having problems shaking and shuddering. lack of power when accelerating on the freeway.

My vehicle keep leaking brake fluid. then slowly but surely, i wasn't able to shift into 3rd gear. the car would "shudder" in neutral and started running loud. finally, i think because of the brake fluid leak despite me continuously adding fluid, the car wouldn't shift into gear. i had asked around and was told my gearbox needed to be oiled and have the oil changed, gear shift needed repair or the input or output for the front end needed repairing.

I have owned my car since 2017 and i was the 5th owner by 43k miles due to the issues this car has had. its now working on its 4th clutch replacement since 43k miles and it only has 99400k miles on it . it now has a distinct whine from the transmission and ford just continues to kick me out the door like nothings wrong . they want to charge me left and right for something that isnt my issue . i also have included the warranty repair history on the vehicle

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving 60 mph on the freeway, the contact felt an explosion and the vehicle stalled. it was unknown if any warning indicators were illuminated besides the air bag indicator, which was already illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to ford of orange (1350 w. katella avenue, orange, ca 92867, 888-697-3989) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was damaged. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 99,000.

The transmission feels like it is slipping. it makes a grinding noise as well

The wrench warning light with "engine malfunction service now" message appearing on the dash. this has happened multiple times with this vehicle. it will sporadically come on and go off. it appears this is a known issue after reading various complaints of the same thing for this make/model of vehicle, but yet no recall has been announced, only tsb's. there are pending lawsuits as well - for this exact issue. the dealership wants to charge me a diagnostic fee for a known issue at $350+ this needs to be converted to a recall. the vehicle is unstable, and unsafe. if ford won't fix this, i will be forced to find an attorney.

Many dangerous instances when the car wouldn't accelerate, jerks, lurches when "accelerating". had the car in for "repairs" well over 10 times and it is not fixed. i cannot afford another car and these problems have been going on for years. shouldn't have to feel like my life is at risk every time i am driving to and from work.. i have to make decisions when driving with the consideration that the car may not accelerate due to know transmission issues. many times on the highway when in a dangerous situation i could not accelerate to get out of the situation. lucky i haven't been injured due to these known faulty transmissions that executives at ford released anyway. . when turning, 99% of the time there is no acceleration whatsoever until the car straightens out. lurching, lunging uncontrollablly and constantly. very dangerous when putting the foot on the accelerator and all that happens is the car revs up. lurching, lunging, bumping, grinding. fords explanation is that it is a hybrid auto/manual transmission and people that own this type of transmission are not used to it. no. i have owned many manual transmissions. the design is faulty and they should be take responsibility for putting profits over the safety of their customers.

Started the car on one hot and humid day and, while waiting for my wife and aunt at a driveway and without touching the gear shifter, i saw the gear display momentarily jumped from park to neutral and then back to park on the display panel. it happened a few times and i thought that was odd. the car had already undergone three transmission overhauls before the extended warranty ended so i was familiar with the transmission problems that plagued the car, from grinding gears to shuddering and slow shifting in low speed or at an incline, all i had experienced before. but the slipping gear was new. i didn't think much about it at first and drove off when my wife and aunt got on. at the second stop sign, the gear slipped moment after i accelerated following the stop. there was no warning at all ' no abnormal sound, no warning message, no engine light on or blinking. the engine revved up and there was no more power to the wheels. only then did i notice the gear display showed the car was in neutral, but the gear shifter was still in drive. fortunately, there were no other cars around us. i immediately tried moving the gear shifter but it was stuck in drive while the gear was in neutral. i stopped the car and tried again, to no avail. i then turned off the car and was able to move the shifter into park. i turned the car back on and was able to move the shifter into drive, and the gear cooperated. i turned around and got back to home safely. i had coped with all of the earlier transmission problems with this car, the trouble of going to the dealership repeatedly, and even adjusted my driving habit with the unique temperament of this car. however, with the gear slipping from drive without any forewarning, i did not feel safe to drive this car anymore. we thought about what would have happened if the gear had slipped while we were driving on the freeway.

The transmission shifts unevenly in lower gears and causes the car to shudder with slowed acceleration, this happens every use. sometimes, the car will not accelerate and it slips into neutral while driving, upon pressing the gas pedal the engine revs but the car will not move. this can happen at anytime without warning. the only way to correct this is to put the car in park and restart the engine. i brought this to the attention of a local ford dealership, they performed maintenance to the transmission, but this did not remedy the problem.

Delay in accelerating especially at highway speeds. i can't even attempt to pass on two-lane roads because i can't trust the car to accelerate. in cruise control, sometimes it won't decelerate (although it responds to braking). the transmission is now dead and must be replaced despite the car having only ~85k miles. it was serviced by ford under the power train recall a couple years ago. i don't expect action on this. i'm just frustrated to have to spend $2k on a 2013 car. i refuse to let ford work on my car because they have never fixed it. i trust my mechanic more.

Takata recall - on tuesday 25th of june, thecar started slowing down and acting a little weird. no matter how much i gave it gas it went into turtle mode and cut off. i towed it to darcars ford in lahnam, md. the two warranties on the vehicle expired so i bought extended warranty. the warranty company is telling me they don't replace clutch barren- shift fork a- shift fork b and seat belt light which is on. now i haft to pay 180.00 dollars for a diagnostic test and it still needs another test for the seat belt light. what am i to do if ford does not help with this problem.

When preparing to stop at a red light, the car suddenly surged forward. i pulled into a parking lot and again, when trying to stop, the car surged forward.

My transmission is slipping had the recall fix about 2 years ago and it is slipping again and it is doing this when i am driving it

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving from a stop position the accelerator pedal was depressed however the vehicle shuddered and hesitated. there were no warning lights illuminated. the contact called woody smith ford 535 s yellowstone hwy, rexburg, id 83440 (208) 356-3636, but the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 134,000.

The automatic transmission fails to engage when shifted into any gear. the engine revs but the transmission doesn't go into gear and the car will no move. sometimes the shifter will not come out of "park". sometimes the car will not start. turning the key from "off" to "on" may, or may not, allow the car to start and the go into gear. this can happened after backing out of a parking spot, and then shifting into "d" (drive). it has also happened when stopped at a traffic light, and then the car will not move.

While on streets, transmission noises like rocks, clicking, and jerking occurs constantly contributing to failure to proceed smoothly from a stop and when attempting to slow down in preparation of stopping. at times, there is a sudden slipping with jerking forward, especially if traffic ahead is suddenly slowing dramatically. at times, while slowing to a full stop, the vehicle "jumps" forward then stops. while slowly turning left or right or a u-turn, the car deliberately bucks and hesitates before completing the turn. these conditions are a day to day common occurrence. speed or the length of distance or time in use does not change the stated conditions, sounds, or occurrences. it has become scary to drive, especially after driving an hour or more on the freeway and when i exit the freeway, the transmission and braking conditions are so magnified that slowing at the end of a ramp to stop is forceful. not normal. i have had the beginning of these problems since i purchased this vehicle 6/17/15. of course the problems, the detection of noises and sudden unusual movements did not occur all at once. i took my vehicle to kingman's ford dealer for all maintenance while in az and to a ford dealer in ca. i asked that my description of problems i heard and felt be written in the report or complaint section of every service repair form but it was never done. on 4/8/2016, ford dealer in kingman, az called me to inform me that they had just received the necessary parts to correct all the transmission and operating characteristics i was experiencing and gave me a 2 page powershift 6-speed transmission operating characteristics form dated 9/27/2012 and it contained the "common sounds a driver may notice" regarding: double clicking metal sounds, coast down whine, clicking when engine turned off, low speed grinding. documentation is with ford.

My tcs goes off without me setting this feature and then my car rolls backwards even when it's in the drive gear.

Shifting from first and second gear is getting harder and harder. taking off and going to shift is getting where it feels stuck. it happens a lot when i'm taking off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped with the gear shifter in the park position, the wheels remained spinning. the vehicle was taken to prestige ford of mount dora 17701 us-441, mt dora, fl 32757, (352) 357-5522 to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,000. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted by the dealer and informed of the failure. the contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall and also that the vehicle warranty was expired. the failure mileage was 66,000.

I`ve had problem with this car since purchase concerning the transmission

I have had my car for over 2 years now and in the time it's been built it's working on its sixth dps6 clutch replacement ! average failure is every 20,000 miles ! it now has 96500 on it and the warranty is close to expiring and ford shows no interest in coverage after the expiration of said warranty at 100k miles

Transmission kicks out of gear when going into 3rd gear. manual transmission.

I'm getting u3003, and just driving less then 40 miles per hour my car just shutter-an lose power have to pull off side of road. then would sit awhile try to restart it give check engine light on. i almost got hit on the road on city street in motion. had buy another car it sit in parking lot now.

On 9/20/18, while stopped at a busy intersection for a red light, upon attempting to move forward when the light turned green the car simply would not move. i placed the car in park, shut it off to restart thinking it would reset itself somehow and instead not only would it not restart but the gear shift would not move out of park so that i could push it out of the traffic. i had to call the local police to wait in the road with lights flashing at the intersection to avoid being rear-ended and until the tow truck could arrive. the "engine malfunction" light comes on so often (which usually gets a "reprogramming" at the dealer) that it has become unnoticeable, but i do not recall seeing it before becoming immobile. it was taken to a local ford dealer, where they said it was covered under the extended warranty ford issued (tcm part, i believe). this car has approximately 70,000 miles on it but has been in the shop for "warrantied" repairs involving reprogramming, throttle, gas pedal sensor, clutches, etc. on many many occasions. in the past, i have taken it in complaining about the returning light and when it has shuddered and lost power momentarily while attempting to enter traffic on the interstate (once even as a tractor trailer approached). traffic has had to shift lanes to avoid hitting my car. it has shuddered in intersections and onramps before, but never became completely immobile without recovery. if this isn't a safety issue, i don't know what is. i cannot experience the fear and helplessness that occurred last week again, so two days later i went and purchased a new vehicle (not ford) and accepted a huge loss on the trade-in value because i value my family's safety and my life far more. my many services have all been through ford and are available in my service record at ford.

Transmission shudders, jerks, falls into neutral at high speeds and has been repaired twice for the same problem in less than a year. ford needs to recall theses defective transmissions

Transmission shudders, stalls, eractic starts, excessive transmission noise and stalls out with rpms going to over 5 while the car stalls. when stall happens it takes about 40 second to re engage then that a hard shift. this car should have a recall on the transmission. also the dealer and ford both knew of this problem and neither advise me of it . if i had know of this problem i would not have purchased this car. in less than one year ford has replaced the clutch twice and it is in need of a thrird repair.

Excessive transmission clutch shudder during light acceleration. car will sometimes slip and cause car to abruptly slow down while taking off from traffic light. in emergency situation where car will need to back up transmission will slip forcing car to be unable to reverse.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 40 mph approaching a traffic light, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and "service transmission" displayed on the instrument panel. the vehicle started to decelerate and the contact pulled into a parking lot. the vehicle was restarted and the same indicator and message remained illuminated; however, the vehicle failed to engage in reverse. the vehicle was driven to joe myers ford (16634 north west freeway, houston, texas 77040) where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module and clutch actuator motor failed, and oil was leaking from the valve gasket area. the contact also stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for transmission failure in july of 2017. the vehicle was repaired for the recent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

My traction control off keeps coming on with the check engine light also and my blue tooth on the steering wheel won't work . when the traction control off comes on i loose power in my pedal and acts like it doesn't wanna go.

I bought this car from a houston honda dealership in may of 2017, i late september 2017, early october 2017, i took my car into the honda dealership because my 'traction control', 'abs', & 'anti-skid' lights came on. my radio cut in & out, my headlights would cut off and on/dim while driving, causing the gears in my car to shift. i was told to take it to ford. i took it to ford, they diagnosed it, i needed a new 'tcm' which is the computer system inside of the car. the warranty covered it, & i got a new one. after that, i was told i needed a new battery, so i got one, put it in, the car ran good for a month or so. the 'tcm' slipped again, & i was back to square one. november 2017 is then the transmission problems really began; interior dashboard lights began to flicker, & my engine light came on, shortly after exiting the highway, my car stopped accelerating. my foot was pressed down on the gas pedal, but the car wouldn't speed up, all you could hear was the engine running. i had to pull over, turn off, and turn my car back on, to continue driving. after numerous trips to ford, two new batteries, & two new alternators, i am still having the same problems. it has been about a year having this car, & they are still unable to properly diagnose, & fix the problem. in a year span, i have been car-less for about 4 weeks (collectively), have taken multiple uber rides, to and from the dealership(s), and no progress has been made on my 2013 ford fiesta!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that when returning to the vehicle, an attempt was made to start the vehicle but the vehicle failed to start as all the warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic whom informed the contact that the failure was due to the transmission needing repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure nor was the dealer contacted. the vin search revealed no recalls associated with the vin. the failure mileage was 62,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. when the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change, the technician stated that the transmission warning indicator illuminated. the technician stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a ford dealer to have the shutter system inspected. after leaving the independent mechanic and driving 35 mph, the contact made a right turn and the vehicle jerked and stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove home. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced per tsb: 14e08 to have the powertrain control module reprogrammed at freeway ford (9700 lyndale ave s, bloomington, mn 55420 (952) 888-9481). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

The clutch has been replaced three times and car continues to hesitate ,bucks, lurches forward, and engine makes buzzing sound feels like it's dragging when driving. most recently at a stop sign the car accelerated and lurched forward i had two feet on the brake it was difficult to control.

Transmission shuddering, shaking. delayed acceleration and some acceleration on deceleration. horrible especially between first and second gears. car jumps and lurches forward on acceleration

All warning lights come on, headlights go off, and the radio goes off at random times. also the transmission warning comes on randomly (per the message boards this is a common issue with this model). it's been in the dealership's shop 3 times and they've not been able to duplicate the problems therefore they have not fixed the problems.

Bought this car new on 12/22/2013 and have been having transmission problems from day 3 of owning it. this car is not safe to drive. it grinds, clicks and makes horribly loud noises. it stalls in the middle of turns and i've almost been ran over many times. it jerks and accelerates on its own without me evening telling it to. now at approximately 54,000 miles it will no longer even start and the light says "transmission malfunction service now." the wrench light and engine light also come on and off, periodically. ford motor company is well aware that they put bad transmissions in all of these new cars and we have been robbed. is it going to take someone's death before someone does the right thing in this situation?

2013 ford fiesta - clutch package replaced twice - 20,000miles and again at about 60,000 miles. "transmission failure - service now" message appeared several days after second repair/replacement while driving car on a city side road; going about 35 mph; three people in car; signal went off and on several times, but was able to drive it; took it to a ford dealer who said there was corrosion and a replacement connector was ordered -"we'll call when it comes in...". several days later in a different location, same message appeared, but stayed on; driving about 35mph on residential area of city; then engine raced but did not shift gears; car shuttered; but did not seem to get power; coasted to side of road and called for help. car towed to a different dealer.

Vehicle is dangerous. i have experienced loss of power with no response to the gas pedal. car jerks violently while driving making it very difficult to steer and maintain. i have not driven car in months because it is a safety hazard. i have taken car to dealer 4 times and each time they are fixing the transmission, but it does the same thing right after getting the car back. avoid this vehicle do not buy.

I have a 2013 ford fiesta se and my car will not gain speed due to the clutch also the car shutters and shakes a lot taking off, turning or moving from a stop light. this is unsafe because i cannot gain speed enough or go fast enough to get out of someones way or for me to get on the high way. which can cause an accident and almost has which is very unsafe for me and other drivers on the road. my rpms go up to at least 4 or 5 because my car will not shift and the lose of power is so bad this happens again almost each time i move from a stop light and i take off to go up a hill. it takes me longer to move causing people to almost hit me from behind several times. this has taken place sense i got the car in february of 2017 and it has continued to happen.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while the accelerator pedal was depressed, an abnormal noise was heard from the front of the vehicle. the contact also heard a grinding noise when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 101,000. updated 05/30/17*lj the consumer stated the transmission would not shift correctly. there were loose wires on the starter. updated 12/04/2017*js

The car stutters upon acceleration intermittently. we have had it in the shop twice and will be going in once again. the clutch has been cleaned up and replaced. it has been reported that tcm's are the issue. on 2/15, my daughter was stopped at a light. when she tried to go; it stopped and would not move. she had to shut down the car to get it moving once again. this problem is constantly returning.

The car bogs down, is slow shifting in gear and after coming from a complete stop sometimes will not go. it has been in and out of the dealer and with 30000 miles is becoming a potential safety risk which could harm of kill the drivers and passengers.

Power ford says that the transmission clutches have problems. have 48000 miles and the transmission was bad at 21000 miles and has gotten worse. bucks when you take off from stop and when pulling into traffic on 101 and it does not go i have to put into low to get across street. have friends that will not ride with me because the car is unsafe. dealer states this is a common problem with these transmissions for a number of years. ford says a common problem. dealer says cannot get parts to repair from ford.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at 35 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they diagnosed that they needed to replace transmission clutch shudder and transmission control module. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was at 47,000. *cn
