Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2012 Ford Fiesta

Car stalls it has the dual clutch system ford mechanic said they just keep fixing them they are not working properly now no more warranty can't by a new car and i have a car that will die out going up hills or on freeway on city streets. i live and travel in and out of san francisco quiet a bit. it sputters and shakes and then will just die out. did this during rush hour in silicon valley bye 101 i was almost hit 3 times and the policeman as well trying to get me and car to safety ford doesn't answer back

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while driving at low speeds or accelerating from a stop, the vehicle violently shuttered and stalled. the service engine and change oil warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic on separate occasions where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 63,000.

The vehicle shutters, hesitates upon acceleration and also lurches you into traffic. you can hardly control the vehicle. terrifying to drive. this is a recuring issue that typically happens at intersections.

The transmission slips, lags, does not shift at times, will stay in a gear too low or too high. ongoing since i purchased it. have taken to dealer numerous times for repair.

I was driving on hwy 301 and water coolant light came on. i stopped a few feet at first station. water was pouring out my radiator. i got a tow and tow truck driver said mine was third car in a week this happened to in statesboro ga area. plastic fan broke went thru radiator and blowed the head gasket. repair man said probably in 3 seconds flat. two weeks before had oil changes and day of emergency checked all water and oil before leaving home. i am a widow and this is gone cost me around 2,000 and i am in bankruptcy. i just wonder if this is a recall or should bed. my warranty is out but i only have 66,000 miles on my car and thought it was last lots more years. is there anything you can do to help me. i really love my car but its already had a transmission recall and lock recall which i was fixing to get fixed. transmission has been fixed and i get 32 miles to gallon in gas which is terrific. please just check is this needs to be a recall and let my mechanic know at southside automotive in jesup ga and his number is [xxx]. i really feel ford motor should recall on this and my car should be paid for so your business will be what its suppose to be a good american business that does whats right. *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while driving 29 mph, the transmission malfunction warning light illuminated. the vehicle stalled and abruptly stopped. in addition, the transmission experienced a power train failure. the contact was unable to shift the transmission out of gear. the contact sustained whiplash, a mild heart attack, blunt abdominal trauma, and abdominal contusion from being restrained by the seat belt. the contact required medical attention. the vehicle was flat towed to the contact's residence. the contact stated that the tcm was updated previously under a service bulletin; however, the update failed to prevent the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

Transmission failures on ford fiesta. i have had the the current recall done back in november of 2015. at that time i also had a clutch installed on the vehicle. since then the transmission has locked up and failed again. the vehicle will not go into reverse only forward. i believe the transmission issues on the ford fiesta are far worse than what ford is reporting. i would like to have an investigation started to find out what the underlying issues with this and to see if ford is hiding anything. i believe that this is the inherent problem with the transmission that ford has put in their fiestas and focuses. the ford fiesta has become a dangerous vehicle when the transmission locks up will not accelerate will not shift into gear.

Driver side doors lock. passenger doors do not. car won't start. battery is good. fuel is good.

2012 fiesta will just turn off while driving, it does not matter what type of weather, driving uphill or in regular traffic at a stop. car is beginning to have problems in traffic and the stopping occurs more during stop and go type of driving. when this happens the engine goes out; light comes on then the ignition switch goes out and sometimes i can restart it and sometimes the signal will turn off everything completely, leaving me stranded in the middle of traffic or in the parking lot of a store;if i'm lucky. recently it stopped on my mother and had to be towed home. this failure has happened in the middle of intersections, on the freeway or just driving through town. the car will shutter sometimes before it shuts off, or just starts to stall. when this happens i am unable to move to the shoulder or pull off the road to restart the car. this failure of the car just stopping while running has a potential of causing an auto accident. this failure happens at any time and cannot be predicted. driving unsure what may happen. currently it is sitting in my drive way it wouldn't restart and i had to pay a towing fee. need to have it fixed now! am losing time and money with no transportation. this is a ford misstep and i shouldn't have to pay for a recurring event with this vehicle. have been driving this vehicle with the stalling and stopping and didn't think much of it, but recently am starting to get the behavior that many other vehicle owners are reporting with the complete stopping anywhere or any time; so i know it is a manufacturer's problem and it's beginning to affect me. i need this issue resolved now. you want the public to drive and use american made products i choose ford and i'm expecting ford to keep their manufacturing promise to me. "go further is our global brand promise ". really! ford come get my car and fix it!

Car jerks and shudders uncontrollably. lurches into intersections after coming to a stop when clutch fails to disengage. unpredictable speed. does not accelerate onto freeway. jerks violently when taking foot on or off gas pedal. dangerous and terrifying. replacement clutch has been ordered by dealership and is backordered 3 months. they must be recalled before someone dies.

This is an ongoing problem with this vehicle. when accelerating from a stop the car hesitates/stalls/shudders then lurches forward. there are also similar intermittent problems in all types of situations. basically if the car is moving there are problems with the transmission. it becomes worse the longer you drive the car. ford is aware of this problem and has extended the warranty on the transmission due to complaints. the dealership where i purchased the car would not even work on it so i had to go to another dealership. i have been in the second dealership multiple times over almost a year now but the car is still not fixed. they keep telling me the parts are on order but even if they do get them in there is no guarantee they will fix the problem. according to their "transmission guy" these automatics, now in millions of ford models over many years, need to be removed and replaced with something else as they will never work properly. i agree and think ford is just ignoring the problem hoping people will give up. the car is unsafe to drive period. now i have a vehicle that i paid good money for and i am scared to drive it and ford will not fix it under warranty. i would trade the car but even the dealership won't give me anything for it as they are aware of all the complaints. so basically my car has, in 4 years, depreciated to being worthless. i would like my money back so i can at least buy another car that i can actually drive.

3 instances in the last 2 weeks of near accidents due to severe shuddering/hesitation. almost t-boned at 3 different intersections. car was unresponsive then shuddered and convulsed with near misses. waited for nearly a month to get an appointment to check the clutch assembly. multiple clutches replaced with long back-orders on parts. car is a hazard to drive. ford is now not offering a warranty of any kind for the replacement parts. i have lodged a complaint here in the past for the same near death or injury experiences. i have tried since the 1st clutch replacement to get relief from ford corp. they are uncooperative. does anyone even read these things? ford just posted huge profit margins. are they too powerful for our gov't to do anything about this long occurring safety hazard? warranty runs out on car at 100,000. i have done my best to get rid of this car, but i have too much invested and ford refuses to acknowledge there is a problem. how can your agency not have done an intervention? if you want specific details about the numerous near misses and the cat like 9 lives i must possess, please, feel free to contact me.

Multiple problems were reported to me by the dealer as potentially being the cause when i took the car in for loss of power while driving, intermittent check engine light and wrench light along with shuddering in the transmission while driving. the dealer replaced (for the second time in 12-months) the clutch assembly, the seals, the clutch release lever and the clutch slave but stated that while the throttle body was bad and in need of replacement, the problem was not caused by the clutch nor did it contribute to the clutch problem and would not be covered by the extended ford warrantee of the clutch. i had taken the car in with the same issue several months back but, because the check engine light was not on at the time, they dismissed the issue as normal functioning of the clutch. the same issue was the cause for the initial clutch assembly replacement a year ago. i plan to pursue the issue of the throttle body with ford in light of the fact they are acknowledging and taking ownership of etb issues with 1.6m other ford models in the same production period.

Purchased used in 2014 w/ 22754 miles for my daughter. approx. six months later, after moving out of town, started to complain about the car - sounds, shaking, sudden lack of power...when she drove. this is very well documented in your archived list of similar complaints with this vehicle and throughout the internet - all pointing to the transmission. though she has taken the vehicle in numerous times on this issue, as well as a door latch recall, these so called software updates have still left serious issues. though she says that the shuddering and loud noises have abated, she still has at times felt the transmission disengage. i am writing today because this has become a very serious safety issue - one of which my wife who was just visiting our daughter and as a passenger of this vehicle, witnessed first hand when the car lost all power to the transmission for several seconds. this occurred as they were crossing an intersection and with the loss of power, came close to being in an accident. there is never a warning when the car decides to behave in this fashion. i have now read too much about this problem and frankly shocked that this problem as gone on this long. i do not want my daughter hurt - i do not want anyone hurt. this seems to be an inherent design problem and ford's recommended steps to remedy have not worked entirely. i do not fault the dealership that has tried everything to help her - even replacing a transmission control module (tcm). let's do the right thing before someone gets seriously hurt. this goes well beyond just an annoyance problem or even the unforeseen reduction in the cars resale value. thank you *tr

Previous complaint #10807331 follow up. car still has transmissions shutter that we at told by ford mechanic is unrepairable. on 4/22/16 i was driving on a residential road and the car failed to down shift when i tried to stop. it pushed me forward when i had the brake applied to stop at a streetlight. thank goodness i wasn't driving probably more than 20mph because i almost rear ended the vehicle ahead of me before the transmissions allowed me to stop. pls make ford fix these issues, i have had this vehicle for over 4 yrs, they won't fix it, buy it back or even take it in trade for another vehicle. it is unsafe & it scares me wondering when it is going to act up again!! thank you if you're able to offer any assistance. *tr

Transmission/clutch has major design flaws. we have had to have this reprgrammed twice and the clutch has been replaced twice as well. is going back in to the dealership for the same issue, for what will now be the 4th time, to potentially have another clutch replaced. the vechicle "sputters" and jerks. this is a known issue with the transmission. this has been ongoing since purchase of the car, but most recently 4/21/2016.

I own a ford fiesta 2012, i have taken good care of it. driven it well checked it often and never crashed it. i bought it in march 2014, got a letter later stating the transmission issue and warranty extension till 100k. now that my car is having problems i took it in, it shutters and doesn't accelerate well and makes a really loud noise when driving. i have almost crashed several times due to malfunction when going from stop to go or trying to accelerate on the freeway. i do not feel safe in the car what so ever and am scared to drive it again until the issue is completely gone. this car is not safe at all. at times i have had a hard time going from a stop sign. i would stop and then when i am able to go my car jerks back and refuses to accelerate. i do not abuse my car, i drive speed limit and only on paved highways and streets. i have read many cases concerning this issue in this car and so i know the transmission is at fault and it is a manufacturer problem not the drivers. ford has recalled the clutch and transmission but now states they cant fix my transmission under warranty only the clutch. i did not cause the transmission to malfunction i shouldnt have to pay for their problems and fault. i want ford to either replace my transmission for free or just buy the car back. i do not feel safe driving it and putting my life and others at stake, having no control of my cars jerky movements and having it stall on me even tho it is a automatic car. i often feel like i am driving a manual car that i have no control off, it is scary! i do not feel safe at all and am constantly in fear driving it feeling like it may break on me any second and cause a crash harming me and possibly others. it is currently at the dealers and i am trying to contact ford about my transmission but i will not pay 4000 dollars for a new transmission when i am not at fault here.

Purchased this vehicle in july 2013 with a little over 50k miles. noticed within a couple weeks that it did make some strange noises (rattling, switching, etc.) particularly when shifting at speeds under 40mph. had it checked out & nothing could be found wrong at the shop. fast forward to march 2016 & the noises have got worse & louder, shifting is in no way smooth or normal, & sometimes feels like it is slipping. i have been in maintenance & management for several years & cannot have the wool pulled over my eyes on mechanical matters. unfortunately though, i am not employed by any ford entity so it is proving very difficult to actually get this problem resolved. 3 weeks ago i left the car with the local ford dealership all day to check out the issues we've been seeing. when picked back up, they stated it only needed a programming update. i knew right away that it still wasn't like a normal vehicle but did not seem to be near as rough as before. already now, it is far worse than ever. when normally accelerating around town/city, the car feels completely unsafe & un-reliable. i am afraid to allow my children to ride in this car which is a terrible feeling! i'm taking back to the dealership the first of this coming week hoping for a solution. we spent quite a bit on an extra warranty that is still in effect for quite a while but nobody seems to want to admit some components are sub-standard in quality. this is very frustrating to have to go through-first time for me. i truly hope that someone will take this issue seriously & address it before people are injured or killed due to the lack of quality that ford has provided in these vehicles. to anyone considering purchasing any make or year of vehicle with like parts-i would seriously reconsider (truly & honestly). mileage is now at 93k with 90% all highway miles since ownership (25 miles each way daily highway commute).

This is my daughters car she lives in los angeles. she had me fly over from florida to evaluate her car because she was afraid to drive it. i was shocked what i found. the auto 'powershift' transmission developed serious stutter hesitation and grinding when pulling away from a stop. vehicle sometimes failed to accelerate unless full throttle applied which was terrifying on the interstate. serious shudder was experienced at low speed giving impression engine could stall. no confidence car was safe to drive. transmission has already been repaired twice but is now worse than ever with only 26000 miles. i have had two vehicles with the ford powershift both developed similar problems with low mileage. these transmissions are not safe!

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled and the transmission failed. there were no warning indicators illuminated prior to the failure. the vehicle was driven to the contact's home. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 76,700. *tt

The vehicle has been in the shop 4 x since purchase for either the clutch or transmission, it has been in repair more than in my driveway and i am getting nowhere with ford or the repair center. this car has stalled in traffic, won't start, drifted backwards. this happens on city as well as highways. im in fear of losing my life in this car or hurting someone else. i believe the desler that sold me this car knew about the defects.

I bought this car in may of 2012, the car begins to shudder and rattle after only a few miles of driving it. when you go to take off in the vehicle it shudders and makes a loud rattling noise. it has been in and out of the shop multiple times, the computer has been reset, the clutch replaced although the it's an automatic transmission and was told it needed to adapt to my driving. after 4 years it still does it and no answers have been given. the car is unsafe. you have to push down hard on the accelerator to get the car to go without it shuddering to the point of feeling like you get whiplash. ford motor company has extended the warranties on these vehicles to 100,000 miles, and provide no charge for service. the transmission is the problem and ford does not want to fix it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced loss of power and vibrated abnormally. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the transmission control module and software needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired per service bulletin number: tsb-15b22 (electrical system, power train); however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

Clutch/transmission shutter issues. vehicle lunging and failing to accelerate from 1st to 2nd gear and from a complete stop. clutch encased in a unvented b ell housing and subject ot over heating resulting in bucking. have been in near accidents from not accelerating on highway and surface streets. very dangerous and unsafe situation to be placed in. have taken car in 5 times and had module replaced and problem still exists. upshift bogs down and vehicle feels like it is going to stall. this has been an ongoing problem since purchase of car in april 2014

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. the contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. the transmission malfunction and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle restarted after several attempts. the vehicle was taken ford of ventura, ca where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module and the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to contact nhtsa to file a complaint and have her vin included in the recall. the vin and failure milage were not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled, but restarted immediately without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired. the clutch was replaced. the contact stated that the vehicle had an automatic transmission. the failure recurred twice and the clutch was replaced again. the contact was informed that the transmission module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 36,000.

Many ford fiesta and ford focus drivers are experiencing issues with transmissions. ford claims this is a problem with the 'transmission control module (tcm)' and is telling its various dealers and service representatives to tell customers it's 'normal' for loss of transmission engagement while driving. i received a "software update program 15b22" notice from ford in august 2015 and i first took my fiesta to the ford dealership on sept. 22, 2015. i was told my vehicle did not register as 'severe' and they did not replace the tcm. on jan. 19, 2016, my car would not start. finally after several tries, the car started, and a "transmission malfunction service now" notice appeared. as i began to drive it, i noticed it sounded like it wouldn't change gears (nearing explosion sound) and i had a hard time stopping at a light. it was taken to the same dealership where i was told the tcm had failed and they replaced it. on feb. 14, 2016, my car wouldn't start again and i thought it was the battery this time. took it to a car parts store and it was. but when the battery was replaced, it wouldn't start again. after another try it started only to flash the "transmission malfunction service now" message reappeared. once again when i tried to drive it, i nearly ran out into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer. in less than a month, the tcm on my 2012 ford fiesta (less than 5 years old) has supposedly failed, causing my vehicle to lose transmission engagement. twice now my vehicle had a hard time catching the brake when this has happened and my fiesta nearly ran out into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer in the latter instance. this is a safety issue that needs to be corrected by replacing all transmissions in the vehicles, not just this supposed tcm.

When car is stopped or driving the transmission feels like it is going to slop. feels like it is going to stall. went t dealership and they said this is normal. this is not normal. jerks and feels like chocking when driving or stopped. when accelerating jerks and feels like the transmission slips and isn't shifting. went to dealership several times and they will not look into this. looked online and noticed several forums and other people having the same troubles with the car. needs to be corrected as it is a safety issue. expressed. concern with dealership that it was having troubles that it was either the transmission but looked at me. like i did t know what i was talking about because i'm a chick.

The transmission has a hard time shifting, it jerks, grinds and shakes a lot. the dealer has replaced the clutch, transmission module, and the whole transmission twice. it happens mostly in traffic at lower speeds, and not it is having problems in higher speeds. i have almost hit a few people because it will suddenly jerk forward when it shifts violently. nothing ford or other mechanics have done to fix it have helped, and carmax just laughs and sends me away when i go back to them. this car has had this problem everyday since i got it.

My 2012 ford fiesta has a serious, ongoing life-threatening issue. the vehicle shudders when accelerating and causes me to lose complete control of the vehicle which has nearly caused my one-year old son and i to be in multiple accidents. i have had the transmission replaced on three different occasions yet the problem continues to occur which tells me there is something seriously wrong with the product and no matter how many new transmissions they install, the issue will always exist. one time this problem occurred while attempting to merge onto a freeway. i began merging and all the sudden the car shuddered and would not move forward no matter how hard i pressed on the gas. i had complete loss of control of the vehicle as oncoming cars grew closer and closer to hitting my son and i. if the car behind me did not slam on their brakes we would have caused a major accident. on a separate occasion i was attempting to make a left turn on a green light and the car moved forward and turned just enough to put my son and i in harms way and then stopped and did the shudder thing causing me to lose control of the vehicle not able to move forward. i am scared to drive it and feel like i am putting myself, my son and other vehicles at risk every time i have to drive.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. while traveling 40 mph traveling up a hill, the vehicle jerked heavily. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 51,225.

I got my 2012 ford fiesta in september and every time i am at a complete stop(sometimes when im in the middle of driving it will do this also), when i push on the gas, you can geel the tranny slipping. ford tried telling us it was because 2012 ford fiestas have a transmission like a stick shift. even if it was supposed to run like a stick shift, it shouldnt be slipping as hard as it does. my car feels like its going to die everytime it does this. its getting worse and worse.

I purchased this car from a used dealer in jan. 2016 not knowing that there was an issue with the transmission (they won't even take it back). this car cuts off in traffic it has been in the shop more than i have had it and now the dealer is refusing to work on it. i have on several occasions tried to trade it but because of the transmission issue no one will trade it. i have tried to get ford to buy it back and they won't i do not feel safe driving this car they knew there was/is an issue and they are refusing to repair. i am left to pay for a car that i can drive for fear of it cutting off in traffic and causing a serious accident and hurting or killing me or someone else. ford cooperation is sending me to ford dealers that want to sell me new cars i can't afford i am disabled with a limited amount of income. please anything you can do to help me will be greatly appreciated i have the service tickets for every time it has been in for repair. this is my second complaint to your organization and i have not received a response i complained when i first got the car.

The transmission slips, shudders and makes very unusual noises, i've had the clutch in it replaced just a few months ago and 2 weeks ago it starts the same thing all over again only now it's making a grinding noise when i start off until i get out of second gear, on occasions i could be stopped at a red light and the car would't even go, it's very difficult dealing with ford on this matter because they need to keep my car and leave me with nothing to drive, they refuse a rental car. i have to drive my car many miles with my 7 year old son in it and it's not safe at all.

I purchased a 2012 ford fiesta new from a local dealership in march 2012. i always had problems with shuddering and was told that the car was just going to run that way. in march of 2015 my car started stalling and shuddering in low gear while in motion or when stopped. i took it to my local dealership, was told that it was a mass airflow sensor problem and it should be corrected. before making it home it did the same day and then started showing a transmission malfunction service now message. i returned to the dealership, still driveable just with an error message. 30 days later i called to check on my car and was told it was not drive-able, the speedometer was not working, all the check engine lights were on and they could not drive it off the lot. after fighting to get my car fixed back to its original state, i paid more money for a abs module that they stated was wrong as well as the transmission control module. went to pick up the vehicle in september, car would not crank and had to be jumped to leave the dealership. was told my battery was dead. after driving the car since september with continued shuddering, i awoke this morning december 9, 2015 to another transmission malfunction service now light and poor driving ability. not sure if taking it to the dealership is going to do any good. if this is a repeated problem, and the transmission is giving multiple issues for everyone, this needs to be corrected. the value of the car is not even close to the pay off left on the vehicle, so i may have to just deal with the car sitting and not even being drive-able.

Have had many instances of jerking and grinding while the vehicle shifted gears. however now vehicle struggles to accelerate when under load, engine revs but vehicle does not accelerate. this occurs notably when going from 10-20mph and trying to accelerate, as when trying to merge onto a highway from a ramp. owned manual cars that required clutch replacement, sensation is similar. vehicle has 26k miles, has had two clutches and three computer updates. told by dealership that vehicle is safe to drive while they wait for parts, i disagree.

The 2012 ford fiesta has a known problem with its transmission. the dealer replaced the transmission module but the car jerks, stalls and sometimes dies out. talking to the dealer today, we found out it is a problem with the clutch. the dealer stated ford is aware of the problem but has yet to provide a "fix" for it. however, if the engine maintenance light goes on, then the problem will be addressed. in the meantime, we are supposed to drive this car hoping the engine maintenance light will go on, possibly enduring the possibility of having the car stop completely in an unfortunate situation. to us, this poses a real safety problem. you could be on the interstate travelling at a high speed and suddenly have the car glonk out, or even the car could suddenly lose all power in city driving leading to an unfortunate accident. this problem is supposed to be covered under ford's ten year extended warranty on the transmission, but ford does not want to fix the problem until, as in their words, "your problem worsens." i cannot believe that this safety issued can continue to be ignored by ford motor company.

Yes did a letter early to day number 10789799 so what happen next go get in car to go to my other full time job car come out park transmission not working 2 fiesta in less than a year with same thing come on now really. so i go to dealer of course out warranty by 15000 thousand mile really nothing can by about this service dept. look at in week or longer than if is transmission parts on back order really so i'm left out in the cold this is not right you think i"m mad you [xxx] right. again please help make this right. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The ford fiesta we have has had transmission issues for a while. we have taken it in 4 times, twice they claimed they reprogrammed the computer and replaced the clutch. we have continued to notice the vehicle jerking or pulsating when accelerating and braking. ford has yet to respond to us with a resolution despite multiple attempts to have them address the issue. our safety concern is that the transmission will eventually fail and put our safety in jeopardy.

2012 ford fiesta fails to turn on at random times. lights from the control panel to the headlights continually blink and turn off while driving. this evening while driving down a busy highway, i made a right turn and the transmission locked up and i could not accelerate or move the car to safety until turning the car on and off again. also, a few days after i bought the car, the back right door opened while i was driving with my 10 yr old son in the backseat. ford dealership fixed the door issue but the power and transmission issues are still going on after ford checked the car and stated it was fine in my service paperwork. the car is clearly not fine.

I've already reported on this site before regarding my 2012 ford fiesta with clutch failure (in december 2013 at just over 32,000 miles). recently my car was acting sluggish and i made an appointment a few weeks from when i called (when an appointment was available). then one morning while trying to start my car it died and refused to start. i had it towed to ford, and it had a transmissional control module (tcm) failure which i guess caused my transmission to fail/engine not to start. this was at 48,000 miles. they fixed it and returned the car to me on 11/7 but the clutch still doesn't feel right. my car shudders, shakes, and has trouble kicking into gear which makes it feel dangerous to drive especially in city traffic or in the hilly areas of colorado. i just had the clutch replaced at just over 32,000 miles and now at 48,000 miles it's giving out again!? it's crazy and it was just at ford. i'm about to take negative equity on my car and get a safer car for my commute and for winter. i feel bad for who buys it next but i need a car that is safe to drive. i've been holding out hoping for nhsta and ford to do the right thing and recall the cars/buy them back since ford still does not have a permanent fix for these issues (3-4 years later and they still manufacture the cars the same way so later models have issues too!). i'm shocked that nothing has been done. after my last scare and fearing that i won't be able to get a good trade in value on my car for a new one if i wait i think i'm done. my next car definitely won't be a ford

Ford fiesta 2012 transmition shakes everytime i go from stop to first and second gear, it vibrates and hesitates horrible, and the dealers keep saying it is "normal" even though i test drove a new ford fiesta and it does not have the same issue. i really do not know what to do now. i would not be able to sell it like this, and it can not be repaired because it is "normal"!

I was driving my 2012 ford fiesta on sunday, november 1st, 2015 when the rear passenger door flew open!!!! i fear for my safety in this vehicle!!!! this is yet another manufacture's defect on this dangerous car!!!! what if i had my pet in the car??? or a child??? i can not believe you have not made ford recall this car!!! in addition to my latest episode i have also had my transmission's computer tmc updated 3 times and the entire transmission replaced!!! and my car drives worse. it jerks, almost dies at take off, sputters and hesitates and then suddenly jolts forward!! it is only a matter of time before someone is killed in this car! how can you continue to allow ford corporation to abuse it's consumers in this manner! i thought this agency was the governing agent over these types of issues! i will be sure to document all of my problems with this car in the event that something horrible should happen to me while driving this car! we as american consumers need your help! i called ford headquarters and spoke to a customer relations agent named le roy today, november 3rd, 2015 and was told that ford will only authorize 1 day car rental to repair any transmission problems! i know of no dealership that can perform the repairs in 1 day! how in the world can this repair be done in 1 day? it took 3 weeks in november 2014 when they replace the entire transmission. i was told i could pay for any remaining days rental if i wanted my car repaired! the transmission is faulty, dangerous and i should have to pay any rental days it takes to repair this car? this is a manufacturer defect and should be repaired at no cost to any customers! i hope you start taking this matter seriously. as an american i try to buy only american made products and this is how a big corporation is allowed to treat it's customers is an absolute disgrace!!!!! recall this car..please before someone dies!!!

This vehicle has had multiple transmission problems since i first purchased it. it now has 42,000 miles on it. after recall #15b22 service was performed on 9/4/15 the problem has gotten much worse. when you are at a stop and then start to pull out into an intersection the car hesitates to the point of almost stopping then it lurches forward followed by severe shuttering. it seems to get progressively worse the longer the car is driven and given a chance to warm up. there are also a wide range of minor shifting problems at various speeds and conditions with loss of power during those times. i have taken the car back to the dealership but they tell me that if they cannot get the car to make the same problem they cannot fix it. after leaving the dealership the car still has the same problem. i have had problems off an on and have went through several ford updates and fixes for this, but none seem to help. it is to the point now that i feel unsafe driving this car.

Although the transmission was updated per the recall it putts or hesitates/stalls with the slightest incline and worse on a real hill. i can't pull out into traffic quicknow because it would cause an accident and it shouldn't be that way. i took it to ford of escondido and was told that some putting is normal but i know this is not right. it is an ongoing issue. has been since like 3 weeks after i bought it.

Our 2012 fiesta with 30k miles has had constant problems with the automatic transmission. it has uneven and erratic shifts, pronounced shuddering, grinding and rattling. slow progressive starts from a stop usually result in shuddering, it's actually smoother to mash the accelerator to the floor. pulling up our steep driveway and into the garage is tricky, also results in shuddering and lurching. the behavior of the transmission is unpredictable to the point that i consider it to be an unsafe distraction. the dealer, and ford, have issued service bulletins and a recall of sorts. it has been back to the dealer three times but apparently the only fix is reprogramming which isn't working. from conversations with the ford technician and from what i've seen online i get the impression that it's common knowledge that these transmissions don't work and are potentially unsafe.

Transmission is not shifting right. had it to the dealership on 3 separate occasions. stalls out when shifting, losing power while accelerating, often pausing before finally shifting. transmission shifts when it doesn't need too. usually in motion is when all of the above takes place. grinding noise and shudder. clearly it is the faulty transmission.

I have had consistent problems with the dual automated clutch transmission(powershift) in this vehicle...some of the symptoms include shuddering, hesitation, gear clanging, grinding, and bucking of the vehicle (which i believe are directly related the car's transmission). these symptoms have at times dangerously impacted my ability to control the vehicle during normal driving conditions. i have made several attempts with the dealership and car manufacturer to get these issues resolved, and their attempts have been disappointing and ineffective thus far. i am currently involved in the third attempt to get these issues resolved with the dealership...this is also the second attempt of the dealership to correct the problems by replacing several failing components in transmission. i don't feel confident that these issues can be resolved. i feel unsafe driving this vehicle. the above mentioned symptoms occur intermittently while the car is in motion and in stop and go traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving at any speed, the clutch shifter failed to shift in or out of any gear. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 105,000.

I bought the car less than 5 months ago and have driven it 2,580 miles. the transmission and clutch are defective. it has been to the shop 3 times, they have already reprogrammed it, replaced the clutch and now they are replacing the transmission control module. the car has not shifted right from the day i bought it. it feels like it is going to "stall" when i'm in reverse (in motion), or when going from stop to go. i have been braking on numerous occasions, when it decided to upshift, lurching the vehicle forward, once into a crosswalk, once very close to another vehicle. this is very dangerous. it never drives the same way twice. when entering traffic, it doesn't always want to shift properly, and has lack of acceleration or a delay. it shakes, hard sometimes (in motion and stationary), it feels like you are in a massage chair. it makes a weird clicking noise, at times (in motion.) other times a weird grinding noise. today it wouldn't get out of 1st gear (in motion) and had to be towed back to the dealer. i had to call out of work and i am concerned for my safety. car bought 7/72015 - problems have been going on until today - 12/7/2015
