Problems with 2011 Ford Fiesta ENGINE

On average, the 2011 Ford Fiesta starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 62 505 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2011 Ford Fiesta

Tl* the contact owns 2011 ford fiesta. while driving at 50 mph with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle shifted independently into 1st gear. an unknown warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to heritage ford, 2100 sisk rd, modesto, ca 95350 where the vehicle was diagnosed with an unknown electrical failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,271.

The vehicle does not downshift. it is an automatic but i have to shift into neutral between gears as well as when i need to slow down. i have had several instances of a car in front of me braking unexpectedly and i must put the car into neutral and it continues revving at a high speed so i throw it in neutral. i could run into the car in front of me unless i slam very hard on the brake or put into neutral. the car does not shift into a higher gear automatically either. also, i must pump the brake for a minute or two before the car will start.

Takata recall, my car keeps jerking and stuttering to go i've had this car for about four about 4 years , i've took it to the shop about 5 times the workers told me there wasn't anything the could do after i kept taking it because the dual clutch would keep messing up yesterday while driving on the high way my car stayed at 30 mph it then started smoking so i had to pull over i then stopped my car and then my car would not start up until this day now i am stuck with a car note with no car

Upon shifting into neutral and or just engaging the clutch the engine will shut off, usually as i approach a stop light or am in a parking lot. sometimes it is a rough stop like the transmission was not fully disengaged, but most often it is smooth as if turning of the car with the key. the silent shut down occurs both while the vehicle is in motion, any where from 1-70 mph, and when a complete stop has been reached. i have had this happen at least two dozen times in the 2.5 years i have driven this car. approximately, 80% of the time it is the 'silent shut down', where i do not even notice the car is not running until i put the car back into gear and try to accelerate. i have almost been rear ended at stop lights in traffic several times because of this issue. this issue has occurred at all times of the year with the air conditioner both on and off, but it is much more prevalent in the warm weather with the air conditioner running. in the past week it has happened 3 times all of which were with the air on, and the engine silently shut down.

The engine malfunction service light came on and the sorry bottle position sensor keeps on saying it's spelt faulty, but when i replaced the throttle body and replaced the gas pedal it was still having issues, and now i'm barely getting to and from work anymore or anywhere else, even down the street because it continues to put itself in safe mode. so i am out for a thought of body and a gas pedal, and it's still not fixed the issue

For the past few months i've been trying to figure out what's been happening with my vehicle. i have a 2011 ford fiesta. it is a manual. i'm not stalling it, but when i'm driving- whether i'm stopped or actually moving (even at 45 + mph) it will completely shut off. the rpms sometimes fall 2-300 below randomly but will come back and keep going. however, when they fall and for whatever reason the vehicle can't figure out that the rpms should be higher, it shuts off completely. when it actually shuts off i have no warning. here is the link i found on information about the ford focus recalls: https://www.wftv.com/news/national-news/ap-top-news/ford-recalls-nearly-15m-focuses-because-engines-can-stall/859721918 luckily i have a manual and i can shift into neutral and restart the car even when i'm going down city streets or busy intersections. this is an incredibly dangerous situation, and i've been trying to diagnose it for months. in a 10 minute drive this can happen as many as 3-4 times. there's no link to why it happens sometimes and not others. shifting into another gear doesn't effect it. i have noticed after i get fuel it tends to happen more often, but i'm unsure if that's correlation or causation. sometimes after i get fuel i can't even get back onto the main road with out the car dying completely. when it shuts off it will almost always turn back on just fine. i recently got my battery replaced thinking that that would have possibly solved the issue but it has persisted. oil changes/tune ups don't fix it either. i'm unsure of what the exact issue is, but i did see that ford is recalling their focus models from 2012-2018 for an issue that sounds exactly what i'm experiencing. i would really like to see them open up their investigation to possibly include fiesta's like mine because it seems to be a related issue.

2/4/15, dickinson co. kansas, collision with fixed object, left turn, impact to passenger front corner, ran off right side of the road, struck fixe object, damage to both passenger front corner/quarter of car. 10/11/16, jackson co, missouri, moving in transport collision, impact rear of car, towing indicator, driver front and passenger airbags deployed. 2 accidents: former owner, not me. the car truck is always lifted when closed, front side of windshield frame is bumpy, passenger side near back wheel is bumpy, the car accidents smashed the car. transmission, jerks back and forth 24/7, going to, from street lights, intersections, like wants to die on normal straight street and on hills. the car rolls back on hills by itself. lack of acceleration speed from brakes to gas pedal. the 10/8/2018 phone call mike from florida, ford, tranmission settlement phone call said "transmission is the ford flaw". i went to the blue springs, mo, independence, mo, dealerships 4 times from march 13, 2017, july 4, 2018: battery fuse box recall. passenger door flew open/door latch recall, sept. 24, 2018, the blue springs, mo, dealership did not fix the tranmission, under 100,000 mile warrenty. the air conditioning compressor broke and it is not working from sept., 24, 2018, the cost to fix is $2,172, they charged $99.50 diagnostic, did not fix the air conditioning. the defroster is not working since oct. 10, 2018, it is connected to the compressor, when turned on the defroster makes a crank noise in the engine. the heater system has a weird crank noise when turned to low, high, does not work either. the bbb autoline closed my lemon law complaint case number frd1825535 case, did not help me, because they limit cases to 36,000 miles. the vehicle is a life hazard 24/7. my car is 82,130 miles. i can not drive this non-reliable car.

Transmission shudders when accelerating.

I've only owned my fiesta for 2 years and now my car won't move when i am in drive or reverse as i step on the gas peddle to accelerate. before this, my car would jerk forward when i would go to accelerate and act as if it was going to stall out in the middle of traffic. i've taken it to ford before to get the recalls fixed because my passenger door swung open while i was driving and they fixed the transmission and clutch recall but now i'm having problems again.

Issues involving class action lawsuit

Takata recall , i have a 2011 ford fiesta and the engine got messed up so i took it to a shop and they fixed it i paid 2,500 to get it fixed and when i'm driving my wheels go all crazy and all this sensors turn on and my door open last time with my 2 year old and my 6 year old inside and now it won't close.

Engine stalls when pushing in clutch. i have had it stall at lights, stop signs and while down shifting. has happened a couple of times while car is in motion but always when pushing the clutch in otherwise most stalls are occurring when car is stationary with the clutch pushed down while waiting at light or stop sign, etc. car just stalls out. generally it can and has happened anytime you push down on the clutch. i have had the car 2 months so far and have had the car stall at least 30 times already and at least 5 of those stalls happened while making a left turn going across oncoming traffic and once when halfway entering a round about. i have not had it stall once car gets passed second gear but i will not put anyone in my car as i've already encountered almost being hit a couple of times because of engine stalling out once the car starting moving. please check into this as i have googled this issue and it seems to be a common issue with this car with no clear idea as to what is causing it.

While stopped (at a red light, stop lights, etc.), when the accelerator is pressed, the car will stall and not move. the vehicle acts as if it is off. i had to double check to make sure that it did not stall (which it does frequently). once i pressed the brake and waited a few seconds, the car finally moved again. this is scary because it often occurs in traffic. also, when backing up, the car will shudder while in reverse and act as if it wants to stall out. there will be times when it actually does stall and completely shuts down. i will have to turn off the ignition and restart the car before i can move it any further.

There was a transmission failure, electrical problems, and brake problems. the engine dies while driving. although seven years old, it has less than 40,000 miles on it from it being worked on constantly. it is useless as a vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the service engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated to between 30-40 mph. the contact also stated that there was an abnormal vibration while driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

The vehicle was purchased brand new. we have already taken it to ford repair shops a number of times for replacement parts, repairs, recalls, etc. recently, the vehicle would not start (among other continuing problems with shaking while braking, jerking when shifting gears--both of which we've already had worked on several times) so we had it taken to a ford dealer near where we live. we found out the problem is with the transmission control module. it turns out that ford has a csp for this problem. however, we did not know about it and by the time we started having problems, we were past the mileage for the warranty coverage. i am extremely displeased with this vehicle and the customer service we have received. i believe it is bias and discriminatory to repair problems you know about only if they are on vehicles with mileage under 150,000. if there is a known problem. ford should fix it and fix it for everyone, not just people who do not drive their vehicle frequently. this car has had known transmission problems and numerous recalls already. the problem is, every time we have it worked on, it never fixes it completely. *tr

The car stays on after the car is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition. the car eventually turns off on its own.

Transmission is jerking, specially coming to the stop, gears are slipping, car was in the dealership service center several times through the years to address this issue, but it never been corrected. engine and transmission warning lights come on constantly, now the engine is overheating and the dealership is unable to fix. this car is defective and unsafe to drive. i purchased this car new from autonation and had it serviced/maintained by their certified service department, i had problems with the transmission from the beginning and was complaining several times, but it never was addressed and/or fixed

Ive taken my car to the dealership around 4 times for the same problem. the fourth being the worst. the car will shudder, shake, over rev, low power when taking off and lack of powersteering and brakes. its had its tcm reprogrammed to no avail! clutch has been replaced to no avail. third time it stared again and had to get the car reprogrammed again. the last time the car would not drive over 30 mph without shaking shuddering and trying to find the right gear. couple of times the car stopped while driving!! dealership replaced the tcm .on about the fourth time in. my wife drives our kids to school in this car and i have not confidence in its ability to sustain and deliver my family safely to their destinatation. im currently making payments and have also tried to talk to ford about a buy back or replacement and they said i don't meet or qualify for the california lemon law. they had pulled my records at the dealership to verify the car status. all actions that the car displayed and others have encountered have happened when pulling away to accelerate. a couple of my complaints on the service record was not recorded. i think the first and the last ones were however.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving 30 mph, the transmission slipped out of gear and the shift lever locked into position and would not move. the check engine, service engine soon, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but there were no failure codes. the failure recurred twice. the failure mileage was 91,147.

Takata recall had the vehicle approximately one week purchased from a private. i stopped at a stop sign and car died on me and left me stranded at a 4 way stop. i tried to get vehicle started and it started briefly and died on me. i was frantic as i am an older lady with my grandchild that was scared to death. i was pushed off the road by a concerned citizen who helped us push 2011 ford fiesta off the road. i had the unit towed and had motor replaced. the car still will not run and i have gone through all my saving on this piece of junk. it is now at a ford dealership and they still are scratching their head and cannot fix unit. it is located at halliday ford lincoln incorporated, 1700 columbus ave, washington court house, ohio, 43160, telephone 800-358-3673. ivoq n n n n 0 v n n

My car had the transmission control module reprogrammed on 06/06/16 and is having the same issue as we speak 8/24/16. the car jerks, doesn't accelerate properly and is doing what it wants, very unsafe as it doesn't want to shift and jolts when it does. it's almost like its stuck in gear. this car has been nothing but problems and i'm irritated that this was repaired 2 months ago and the problem clearly isn't fixed. i'm pregnant and am very dissapointed that ford can allow a problem like this to continue without proper resolution and safety for its customers.

Purchased 02/26/16 since purchase breaks have locked up 7 times, took to original dealer of purchase 8 times in first two months of purchase by the time they get car they find nothing wrong taken to ford dealership 3 times they replaced censor states it will fix problem and has not have almost gotten in several accidents because breaks lock up and prevent car from going forward and unable to move.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving 60 mph, the speed decreased to 40 mph without warning. the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact was able to turn off and restart the vehicle, but the engine malfunction indicator illuminated. the was taken to a dealer were it was diagnosed that the air flow sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer again, but the issue could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was 90,000.

The transmission has caused numerous problems and ultimately crashed suddenly with warnings of dysfunction malfunction.

Driving vehicle on expressway and vehicle just cut off. been complaining to ford since i purchased vehicle about 2 years now, took it in for repairs several time. was told that the problem is corrected but it keeps doing the same thing. it will roll back when i stop at a light or stop sign. this is dangerous. this time i was lucky nothing serious happened. next time i might not be.

Hesitation, jerking and clutch grinding noises. went to make a left hand turn and my car hesitated on acceleration causing a near fatal accident from an on coming car. luckily the oncoming car was able to slow down enough to avoid hitting my passenger side where my daughter was sitting. i have been experiencing hesitation, severe jerking and grinding of the clutch the entire weekend.

My daughter drives this car. car stutters when driving, idle goes up to 3k, overheat icon came on, idle goes high but car decelerates , car bucks like a bronco. ford charged us over $500 to replace a cooling fan, did 3 software upgrades, said they replaced the transmission control module, same issues repeated except for the overheat icon, idle still went high and car stutters, bucks, again the trans stopped propelling the car. now they say it's the throttle body and want over $800 !! to repair it. the 2011 ford fusion has a similar problem and is now covered for free under a customer satisfaction program, all of the windows in the car are hard to raise, you have to manually push them up while holding the up button. the throttle issue is new but why didn't those codes turn up previously when the car exhibited the same symptoms? imo this is a poorly manufactured vehicle. only 79k miles and sooooo many problems.

Car will randomly die at certain times. sometimes it will start back up sometimes not. happens during low or medium speeds at intersections almost wrecked a few times due to it. problem due to a failing electronic throttle body. the car only had 50k miles on it when it started doing it.

Tl* the contact owned a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power and the engine failed. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

I have a 2011 ford fiesta, my vehicle has a number of recalls out. (ford recall number 15s16, field service action number 14m01 and 14m02). i had contacted the dealer november of 2015, they told me that they would contact me when parts were available. i have heard nothing for a year now. there are two recalls out having to do with the transmission.( transmission clutch shudder/transmission input shaft seal warranty extension and transmission control module extended warranty coverage). i have had my father who is a mechanic tell me that is why my transmission is going out. i have three children and the car is barely shifting correctly and i feel is unsafe to drive but being my only form of transportation i am forced to do so. i need something done, i feel that i shouldn't have to pay for a new transmission when if the recalls were performed in a timely manner i would not have any issues at all. please help me resolve this issue. i am already paying so much on this car and getting no where with what i own due to all my payment going to interest. i cannot go without a vehicle. please help! *tr

This is an update to a previous complaint with my car. previously the car gave out in the hills of a sf. the car said it had a problem with the transmission and would not give any propulsion risking going backward on a hill. the dealer updated the software. they said this was the fix. they said after 1000 miles it should fix itself. since then the car has been running much more sluggish. it forces itself on accelerating. it jerks much more excessively when i take off the gas. it jerks much more when i brake and i hear the metal grinding and clanking together. it was a really bad software update. 1000 passed and we ran into another problem. i had the car parked in the house. tried to turn car back on and would not turn on. i heard clicking noise as if the battery was dead. i had dome lights on for a few minutes but nothing excessive. shouldn't die out like that. tried several times to turn it on and nothing. started to call roadside assistance for backup. i then removed the car charger i had plugged in and tried again. the car sputtered on and starting giving me notifications. a service and check engine light. also the display said that there was a "transmission malfunction" and to service it now. the engine was really forcing itself as i heard it. rpm was high even going slow. car still sputters on after a few tries. checked the codes through obd2. car was throwing p0606. said that it was ecm/pcm processor problem. i have no idea what is wrong with this car. i feel like its completely falling apart all around. horrible car with too many issues!!!! this car needs a massive recall on it!!! it is unequivocally unsafe and unfit for the road!

Took my car in twice for the tcm and it's even worse. shuddering, electrical failures, loss of engagement while driving, and worst of all ford is denying me service until i put another 1,500 miles on the car! not sure if this is even legal. trying to press for a lemon law now.

While in motion, my vehicle had an intermittent electrical issue. the service wrench appears, and displays "engine malfunction, seivce now" the engine then derates and runs very rough. with a manual transmission, it is difficult to shift gerars without stalling. upon turning off and restarting, the engine resets and runs normally. occurences are random without any warning. this is a safety issue. in one instance my engine nearly stalled in a busy intersection as a result of this issue. ford has a tsb for the issue (13-11-15) that involves changing the wiring of the car. i believe this should be elevated to recall status so that repairs are covered. given that it is a design issue that was built in to the vehicle and requires a change to the wiring to fix, ford should be responsible for the service. i was billed $442.85 by my dealer to correct this issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 65 mph, the check engine and the wrench icon warning lights illuminated. the vehicle went into limp mode, causing a drastic reduction in speed. the vehicle was not able to be driven above 5 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body or the throttle body sensor needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 89,090.

While driving from denver to longmont co (8/14/15) on hwy 76 the vehicle would not respond when i needed to accelerate then the engine cut off. i was able to restart and put in neutral to navigate traffic to get to side of the road. the car died. it could not be restarted. while waiting for tow truck i was able to start car again and tried to drive, it would not respond to accelerator and then died. car was towed to longmont repair shop. the mechanic there reached out to ford and was told they were aware of those issues but part was on 6 month backorder. car was then picked up by ford of longmont. they said that it wasn't the tcm and replaced 3 smaller parts. six days later i was driving on diagonal highway in boulder co and the car refused to accelerate and the died. car was towed to ford of longmont again. i was told by the service department that ford requires that when replacing the tcm they must first repair minor part and return to customer as "fixed" and wait for subsequent part failure before replacing the tcm. ford of longmont replaced the part on 8/20/15.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while shifting from first to second gear, there was a loud clicking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. while stopped at a red light, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle restarted. the failures recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was functioning properly. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was approximately 69,456.

I was driving my vehicle and the engine light came on as did the wrench icon signifying a need of immediate repair. the car kept driving, but i had to slow down for traffic. when i tried to accelerate again, my car had little power. i pressed the gas pedal further and the car jerked forward, then slowed itself down immediately and bucked on me a few times. i was in traffic and it caused me to almost get rear ended twice as it would abruptly stop. the engine ran, i could drive, but it wouldn't let me go very fast and kept switching gears on me. i took it to the shop, and they said it was a logic issue but could be a further transmission issue and i should drive it until something else happens. they also promised me that the logic was fixed and nothing like that would happen again. this something else happened a week later exactly as it had happened before. again, i almost got into an accident because of how abruptly the car stopped and sped up. the internet is full of stories just like this one.

While parked with the vehicle running (about 30 minutes in 87 degree weather with the ac on), the transmission felt like it tried to go into drive and rocked forward slightly. i looked at the dash and the check engine light came on. i tested the vehicle and it seemed road worthy enough to try and get home. when driving home and stopped at a stop light, the car's display for park, neutral, reverse, drive, started quickly flashing between drive and park. i could not accelerate the vehicle while this was going on. i placed the vehicle in park, and then met fairly heavy resistance putting it back into drive. after a few seconds of flashing between drive and park, it stopped and i was able to drive again. the same thing happened a few minutes later while i was about to turn into the ford dealership. this time i tried turning off the vehicle to see if that would remedy the issue. i was unable to start the vehicle for a minute or two after because it was acting as if i was in drive (or the fast park / drive flutter) and trying to start it. it's been two days, yet i haven't heard back from the dealership on what this problem is. i did receive a recall notice that spells out the exact symptoms that i had, yet the mechanic has twice said it is very unlikely that the recall part, the tcm or transmission control module (which is back ordered six weeks), is the actual problem.

Issues with car weak performance, car shuddering, grinding noises in engine, stalling when brake is pressed while in drive gear, car lunging forward and not wanting to engage, not wanting to go after a complete stop, not engaging in reverse, and engine light coming on randomly. almost rear ended by a car behind me came to a screeching stop because of the hesitation to engage in first gear. took the car to a ford dealer and was told that i would have to pay a diagnosis fee. because if it did not test at a certain level of performance the dealer would not pay for the testing or repair. i stated i had a customer satisfaction program 12mo1 letter for the clutch assembly and they said it did not matter. i left the dealer very upset and dissatisfied. drove the car and the symptoms worsened. i got into my car one day and the car would not engage in reverse. luckily on was parked on an incline and coasted out of the parking spot. drove the car to the dealer and they did not have the new clutch assembly in stock. i then asked for a rental until the car was repaired because i felt it was very unsafe to drive my daughter in with the problems it was having, i was told no. so i was forced to drive this car with these problems for a week until the ford dealer received the new clutch assembly. this car is a very dangerous vehicle to have on the road not only for those driving the vehicle but also for those car that drive behind these cars. ford absolutely knows they have a major issue with the dual clutch system. regular clutches are controlled hydraulically but these dual clutches are control electronically by the tcm which has a customer satisfaction program 14m01 that ford has sent out. between the leaking transmissions seal corrupting the clutch and the tcm failing that controls the clutch that is a double jeopardy situation. this is a very dangerous car to have on the roads.

I purchased my 2011 ford fiesta in august 2014 with 45,000 miles on it. car ran fine for a week then i noticed when the ac is on the car jerks when i accelerate. it also does it daily when i drive speeds under 30 mph. the car stalled out as i pulled out leaving wal-mart and thank god it was during the day when everyone is at work and that there was not a lot of traffic!! this car makes me nervous driving it a distance longer than 30 minutes and no car should feel that unsafe. i took it to the ford dealer this morning reporting of constant jerking and hesitation while i am driving and feeling the gears grinding when i brake. i was told i needed a new clutch and that it is a common problem with these cars and that since the part is on back order it would take minimum 2 weeks to get in!. how there is not a recall on this i do not understand. i have read complaint after complaint about the same problems. *tr

On several occasions over the last winter i turned left from my driveway. as i attempted to accelerate the vehicle briefly slipped out of gear. the vehicle is controlled by an automatic transmission, but slipped from gear, leaving me in the road, unable to move forward. this has happened on several occasions. my transmission has also failed several times at red lights. i will step on the gas, and there are several seconds of hesitation, where my vehicle will not move. then it lurches forward. ford has sent a letter explaining there have been defects with the transmission, but i have called 3 different dealerships, and they refuse to fix the problem unless it occurs during a test drive by their technicians. if the problem does not occur during their test drive they will charge me over $100 for the diagnosis. this defect is known to ford, yet they refuse to fix it until the problem is consistent enough that i can bring it in, knowing the problem will occur on that particular test drive. i have almost been in an accident because i was unable to get my vehicle out of the road, due to the transmission issue. i believe the problem has also caused other issues with my vehicle. my o2 sensor and catalytic converter wore out prematurely.

I reported to sterling mccall on 8/18/14 at 5:50 p.m. the problems that i have been having with my 2011 ford fiesta. i also reported the customer satisfaction program 14m01 .0n 8/20/14at 7:19 a.m. i brought my vehicle into sterling mccall. sterling mccall refused to fix the problem. i reported to legacy ford on 9/5/14at 4:05 p.m. to [xxx]. the problems that i have been having with my2011 ford fiesta. i also reported the customer satisfaction program14m01. on 9/11/14at 6:59 p.m. i brought vehicle into legacy ford. they gave me a rental car at 7:15 p.m. on 9/12/14 legacy ford refused to fix the problem. i filed a case [xxx]-5211951 with the customer relationship center at 2:15p.m. i brought my 2011 ford fiesta to firestone for a diagnostic on 12/4/14. the find was that the article supersedes tsb 11-9-2 to update the issue statement and service procedure. i brought it to legacy ford again on 1/14/15. and legacy ford refused to fix my 2011 ford fiesta again. then on 1/17/15 my car was in a accident. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The car slips gears which makes it dangerous to drive up any sort of hill. my car has stalled out going up hills and made it dangerous not only for me, but those around me. the car also has an incredible jerky motion when driving that can cause the car to suddenly jerk forward. sometimes when i put my car into drive or reverse the car won't even move. very very dangerous car! ford issued a recall on parts of the transmission about 4 years ago, but this did not fix the problem. i am afraid to drive the car long distances or around town where there are hills. this has been an issue ever since i brought the car.

2011 ford fiesta bought at garber used cars in saginaw michigan. i have had my car worked on for the recall for t e transmission rings. they told me they needed to also change out the clutch. prior to this i spent 1200 dollars on the transmission part they said wasn't covered by a recall. the engine light started coming on a few days ago. they told me it was the catalytic converter. 650 to replace, and yesterday my car refused to start...the safety won't unlock and my car can't go into any gear but park. i had to have it towed...still waiting for the clutch and converter to come in so it can be repaired. when it runs it is a good ride. but the car has cost me all sorts of money i really cant afford to pay out. i will say if ford doesn't come through and take responsibility for this car and fix the issues the company will lose my business forever.i am angry and disappointed and tired of paying for something that is so undependable. *tr

I was rear ended by a ford f350 so hard that i hit the car in front of me, a honda accord. the back of my 2011 ford fiesta is smashed in and the front of the car, is smashed in. the back window is scattered, the sunroof slider fell back into the car, the front right wheel (passenger side) is bent, and the car does not turn on. i understand in rear end crashes the air bags usually do not go off, but when i hit the car in front of me, the air bags should have gone off. *tr

Drove car on highway this morning on way to work and car would not accelerate or go. the only thing moving was the rpm's. i had to pull over on the highway and turn the car off. after the restart, the car was able to accelerate but now it was shifting badly in and out of gears. my work was only right around the corner so i was able to make it in. i went on a lunch break to test drive it around the block and it was giving me the same problem. shifting out of 4th gear into 3rd for no reason. it's not even drivable. i have already had this car in the shop 2 times for transmission issues. both times took weeks to get my car back, and i've only owned this car for a year and a half. this will be the 3rd time it's going into the shop, and now it's starting to risk my safety in the process. i have a 1 year old as well so i am not happy about this! something needs to be done about the safety issues of these cars and their transmissions. *tr

For approx. 2 months, my car will not always start. i would have to crank it a few times before it would turn over. replaced the battery and it still happened. one night, stopped at the store for a few minutes. got in the car and it wouldn't start. left for an hour, got back in and it started. dropped it off at the ford dealer and they replaced the starter. the next day went to the p.o., got back in and it wouldn't start again. waited 1/2 hour and it started. drove right back to the dealer and they replaced the tcm. (transmission control module). that was 12/5. i am hoping this does the trick. have read about 2011 fiesta transmissions problems and hope i have no more problems. *tr

In november of 2014 i received my recall notice on my 2011 ford fiesta about a 'shuttering' issue within the motor/transmission. since this time, my car has gone back every 3 months to have the same issue repaired. this will be transmission number 4 within 1 year. i was already told by the dealership that my car cannot be repaired. ford cannot fix the issue. the dealership has been great, they have been honest with me from the start. they have advised that they will continue to try and fix the car under warranty until it runs out. the 2012 fiestas do not have the same motor or transmission thus, the issue is fixed. i called my finance company and asked them if i can return the car since the car cannot be repaired. i was advised i had to go through ford and have them start the paperwork. i was further advised that the paperwork has to be coded to reflex the car cannot be repaired, therefore it is coded differently to reflect on my credit report as a voluntary repossession due to unrepairable vs just non-pay. i called fords customer relation team 1-800-392-3673 options 1,4 &5. i spoke with renee who advised i had to go to ford credit to get the paperwork. renee advised me my car is too old for them to buy back (my car is 4 years old). she further advised the number as 800-727-7000. she advised they would be able to help me. i called ford credit and spoke with chad who advised me he could not help me since all i want to do is return my car and have the paperwork coded that it is being returned because the car cannot be repaired. i did not do anything wrong, i pay for my car each month and even for the months when my car is at the garage. i want to return the car and have my credit score not affected by the return.
