We have classified the 283 complaints from 2011 Ford Fiesta about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
The automatic transmission is problematic in shifting, decelerating then accelerating with no response. there is the sound of loose nuts and bolts inside the transmission while backing up. there are times (numerous) when you let off a little on the gas, and then go to accelerate and nothing happens for a second or two....little scary and dangerous to say the least. odd shifting times during normal city street speeds. feels like the transmission is trying to "find a gear". service writer at encinitas ford says these signs are "normal" for that style of transmission. now i see tons of complaints online about the 2011-2013 fiesta transmissions problems, especially the transmission "going out" and "repairs" done at the various dealerships where nothing has changed with the way the transmission is working. please help out on this...i do not want to have an accident due to these odd problems! Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle surged forward and hesitated as if the vehicle was going to stall. in addition, the vehicle was slow to respond to acceleration and would often surge forward abnormally while accelerating at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that there was a leak in the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired correctly and was inspected three times but the dealer was not able to provide a permanent remedy for the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 4,086.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that after attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would hesitate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that it was a known problem and they would reprogram the computer. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 9,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the transmission failed causing the vehicle to jerk violently and lose acceleration power, while driving. the brake pedal had to be engaged with force to be able to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times where the transmission control module and the power train control module were updated and the power train clutch assembly was replaced. however, the failure was not corrected. the vehicle continued to jerk and lose acceleration power while driving. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further inspection. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
At a complete stop to turn right with brake pressed, the accelerator would not work as i took my foot off the brake and pressed the gas pedal. i was able to coast off the street turning right until eventually the car would accelerate. very scary. *tr
Well my ford fiesta had less than 1800 miles on it when the transmission started chattering while holding a steady traffic speed of 30 mph after it warmed up. now it does it bad between 30 and 55 mph, still after it is warmed up. it?s fine when it?s cold. also twice after driving 2900 miles on the car, the transmission would not release when trying to stop at a stop light. it drove me through a red light, twice. it was as if i was driving a manual transmission car and forgot to put the clutch in. scared me to death, but i?m forced to keep driving it. took it to kline motors, a ford dealership in winfield ks. they said they worked on it for 2 hours and charged me over $175 and did absolutely nothing i could tell except offer to replace the tranny for $5200. for 2 hours work they did not even up-date the computer that drives the transmission. i bet the mechanic never even touched it. ford will not cover it because the car was in a very minor fender bender and the title was marked rebuilder. what a cop out. what ticks me off about kline?s is i told the service manger i re-built the car, which was nothing more than a front bumper cover and ac lines for the most part and all the parts were oem parts. i asked kline?s to check the vin to make sure ford would cover it, never checked it but said it would be covered to 36,000 miles and bring it in anyway. why the car was flagged by the insurance company i have no idea, but ford is sure using it as an excuse not to touch it. in any case i got a piece of crap ford fiesta that i?m scared to death to drive, but for now i?m stuck with it every day, and every day wondering if it?s going to drive me through another intersection to get hit by someone. if i was ford i would be scared to death with these cars on the road. this should be a safety issue and the ntsb should force them to make a re-call for safety reasons. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated the wrench and oil light illuminated simultaneously. according to the owner's manual, that indicated that the engine oil had expired. upon driving to the dealership, the transmission failed to shift over and the vehicle stalled. there was gas in the vehicle. the dealer reset the light. however, the engine light continued to illuminate. updated 02/01/12*lj updated 02/08/12
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving between 35-45 mph, the vehicle jerked and would not accelerate properly. there was also a metal on metal sound coming from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module failed. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 4,000.
When taking off from a stop the engine shutters causing a delay in acceleration.this has almost cause many accidents. it is very startling when the whole vehicle starts to bounce and shake. clutch parts have been replace 2 times now. other work has been done to try and fix the problem with no luck.over 20 times in shop. i also have been told ford has chosen to set guide lines now that they say shutter in the transmission is normal. normal does not help when i'm trying to pull out on a highway and lose power. i would like to know if there has been other reported issues. this car is dangerous. *tr
The transmission seems to fail to go into neutral when brakes are applied. car started with transmission issues initially with the car trying to fight the brakes a few times just before stopping. at times the car significantly overcomes the brakes. on one instance the car failed to stop at red light and managed to creep into the intersection before stopping. the transmission does seem to have safety problems particularly it makes it hard to predict how the car will come to a stop from a high rate of speed. the stopping is jerky and the stopping distance is variable and inconsistent due to the "jerky" behavior of transmission. *tr
Makes loud grinding sound and seems like the car is about to stall while driving. the car also seems to stall when driving from a full stop. transmission fluid leaks. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle shutters and hesitates as if it were to stall while the accelerator pedal was being depressed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tcm module failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 1,600.
This is in regards to a new 2011 ford fiesta with the powershift 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. 3 times now i have experienced the transmission hesitate for an extended period of time before engaging. each time it has happened i have been coasting in traffic at speeds between 15-25 mph or so, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass and then attempting to accelerate across lanes of traffic without getting hit. when doing this, instead of accelerating quickly to avoid getting hit by traffic the car would act like it was revving but not engaging the clutch so i would end up just coasting across lanes of incoming traffic. to avoid having this happen i have learned that i have to quickly and fully stomp on the gas pedal in order for the transmission to realize i'm in need of quick acceleration. using only moderate pressure on the gas pedal yields the scary hesitation that has lead to near imminent collisions. light pressure to the gas pedal tends to make the car barely accelerate at all and sometimes feel like it's about to stall. it seems to me the computer gets confused in this scenario since you are first decelerating, then coasting, then trying to accelerate again all within a short time-frame. *tr
Gentlemen: we are also very shocked as that in colombia the supervisor from the dealer ship, every time we call him on the phone, he is not available for us and he just sent us the reason the has no information to give us. it is possible that one of you at ford can give us some information about these anomalies? on may 13th, 2011, we bought two vehicles ford fiesta sedan automatic from the dealership located in the city of medellin, colombia, south america,. with the bill signed on may 13th, 2011, we bought the car ford fiesta sedan at, black gala color, 2011 model, car type, and also the car ford fiesta sedan at, white oxford color, model 2011, automotive type, with the on may 23th, 2011, as it is stated in the dealer repair order, the vehicle ford fiesta sedan at, black color, (with less than 200 kilometers of travel on the tachometer), must be brought to the dealership because it had a strange noise from gear when the car started running. the road test was conducted by employees of the concessionaire and an employee crashed the car in the rear bumper, on the 24th of may, after exhausting all possible claims against the dealership, the service manager of the dealer, gave us a written certification that the car had undergone a reprogramming of the powertrain, and there was no need to remove or to dismantle any component of the vehicle. also he told us that the strange sound that the car was having, was normal because the double clutch that belongs to the automatic ford fiesta, and also it was normal in the other car, the ford fiesta sedan at, color oxford white. because of this explanation, we, who are not experts in auto mechanics, we believed this explanation was true and again we received back the car ford fiesta sedan at, black color . we do not have any positive answer yet. can someone help us? *tr

I have a various problems with the transmission. it keeps having a grinding noise like it has a hard time going into gear. i have noticed that the problem is worse when trying to quickly stop as well as accelerating right after. the transmission problem is currently keeping the fiesta in the shop right now but the dealership is saying that this problem is normal and there is no repair is available at this time. i have also had problems with the window not rolling up right. this was fixed but i think that over time it will start to be a problem again. the final problem is the sound system not being properly wired as i plugged my phone to charge and the radio stopped getting reception. *tr
I recently purchased a brand new 2011 ford fiesta. in the past 5 months i have taken it to the dealership i purchased it from 5 times because the transmission makes a loud grinding noise and lurches forward when i am on a hill or in stop and go traffic. i have contacted ford directly and got the same response as when i took it to the dealer. they both say it is "normal". after contacting ford directly the service manager at my local ford contacted me and went on a test drive with me where he said he both heard and felt what i was talking about. he then took a car right off the lot for a test drive and told me that one did not do any of the things mine is doing. a couple hours later i get a call from him stating ford has told him this is normal for the car to make these noises and lurch forward and that there is nothing else they can do for me. assuring me that the car is under warranty and that if the transmission fails it will be covered. i drive 70 miles a day in rush hour traffic on hills and to me this is a huge safety concern. there are many people that have complained to ford about the same problem so they did the tsb for this issue and it made the problem worse now when i am on a hill the car rolls back and the grinding noise is worse. i took the car back right after they performed the tsb and told them and they are still saying this is normal. *tr
Ever since vehicle was new i've had problems with the duel clutch 6 speed transmission. when upshifting through the first 4 gears transmission sounds like a tin can full of marbles. upshifts a harsh with a jerking motion. transmission is reluctant to down shift into first gear when approaching a stop sign or light and when i've tried to accelerate from a stop the vehicle responds like it not in first gear by jerking and lugging during acceleration until the speed builds up. i've had one case were the transmission acted like it was in neutral when i left a red light. i was forced to release the gas and step on the brake before it acted normally. i've also had issues the rpm not dropping during braking requiring additional brake pressure to bring vehicle to stop. i've contacted ford numerous times on these issues and have been told its either normal, or they can not duplicate the problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving driving approximately 10 mph, the transmission emitted a loud grinding noise with excessive hesitation. on a separate occasion the transmission failed to respond during acceleration. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four different times for the identical failure. most recent the vehicle was taken to the dealer and an engineer inspected the vehicle and stated the transmission response was a common characteristic. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 500.
I purchased a ford fiesta 2011 in october, 2010. within the first year of ownership (around 8,000 miles), the car began to shutter upon initial acceleration at low speeds, especially when going up or down an incline; when moving the accelerator pedal back and forth quickly (in stop and go traffic, for example, or when accelerating to turn left from a stop) the rpms would jump and the car would not accelerate promptly, and then only after harsh jerking. numerous trips to the dealership resulted in several explanations (and costly "repairs"), including being told i needed a complete engine flush, faulty brake calipers, recalibration of the computer software, and the classic "that is normal operation for the car." as of february, 2015 (my car now has 50,000), the issue continues to persist and, most concerning of all, my car will now periodically stall with complete engine and electrical failure. please note the issue described above occurs from a stop and/or at slow speeds. my car has stalled several times while i was attempting to turn left or pull into the road from a driveway. these are particularly hazardous times for the car to fail and severely compromise not only my safety but those of other drivers on the road. frustratingly, the dealerships consistently report "there is nothing wrong with the car" and "it functions normally." a car like mine -- relatively new, average mileage, with maintenance always completed at a ford dealership and according to manufacturer recommendations -- should not stall. i am greatly concerned each and every time i drive the car and ford's apparently inability to solve the issue. *tr
Ever since we bought the vehicle (new), the transmission was hit or miss. from taking a while to shift in lower gears, to shaking, clunking, surges, to just hard shifting. dealers stated it was normal but you and i know that's not right. it's to the point now where our car won't even shift into reverse or into other gears. we'll have to tow it to the dealership to get it repaired. it's upsetting when you read that there are so many in the same situation and nothing is being done about it at the government level. this is the one time we need government assistance to get the ford corporation to do what's right for their customers. please go through the pain and begin the process for a transmission recall. you'll restore our faith. thanks. *tr
I bought this car in june 2011. right from the beginning it has had a transmission problem. the car shudders when trying to accelerate. sometimes it's light shuddering and sometimes it's very rough where the whole car is jerking. there have been several incidences where i was turning left and thought i had plenty of time but the car decides to shudder and i have almost been hit by another car. my husband had a super close call. same thing turning left and the car was shuddering so bad it just wouldn't go and he was almost hit by a truck. we have taken the car in several times to be fixed and each time it's fixed for a short amount of time but eventually the shuddering comes right back. i've been told all the fiestas have this problem and even if they put a new transmission in this problem will happen because of the way the transmissions been built. i fear it's only a matter of time before someone is severely hurt or killed from this problem. i feel like ford needs to step up and fix this problem before it's too late. *tr
A quick snapshot of the story is that we purchased a brand new ford fiesta through military car sales in june of 2011. after having the car for less than one month and putting 1,400 miles on it, the automatic transmission went out on it in the middle of our vacation. we lost a day of our vacation and some cash in non-refundable hotels stays but ended up with a rental car which was finally covered under the military car sales warranty. one month later, we got the car back and after another month and another 1,500 miles, the second transmission went out... a month and a half later and two more transmissions, we finally got the car back. since then the car has been back to the ford dealer four times to correct issues with the automatic transmission (computer programming); one time they were unable to duplicate the issue my wife experienced with the car and we were forced to accept it back as is. fast forward to today and our lovely car has been at the dealer for the past month getting another transmission, with no end date in sight. military car sales warranty department continues to claim that we do not meet there guidelines/threshold to warrant them buying back or replacing the car. my wife and i have had to take countless hours off of work to take the car in to the dealer, pick it up, get the rental cars, renew the rental agreements, go to pmo or custom and then get a new gas card; none of which we get compensated/reimbursed for. part of the issue is that since the vehicles purchased on base are u.s. specs, german ford dealer will repair warranted items, but are not accountable to replace the vehicle if it is deemed to be a "lemon"; this is the responsibility of the military car sales warranty department. had i purchased this vehicle in the u.s. i would simply drive the car back to the dealer and he would replace it, not quite the case here in germany. *tr
2011 ford fiesta has a "blubbering" transmission, most notably when accelerating slowly. beyond this, my vehicle has now stopped accelerating and slowed to a complete stop at least 8 times in less than on month. after the very first incident, i was able to turn my car back on, but had the same problem happen again within 5 minutes. the second time, the car did not turn back on. i was towed to the nearest ford dealership where they found no problem, reset the computer, and sent me on my way. the next morning, the vehicle stopped again on the freeway on the way to work. i went to a different ford dealer that did a more thorough inspection. they replaced a fuse, explaining that it might be a power issue. my vehicle was fine for another week, but then stopped 4 times in a 24 hour period. i took my vehicle in to the dealership for the third time this month. they contacted ford engineers who helped the mechanics determine that it was a transmission problem. i am currently waiting on parts to be delivered to the dealership so that my vehicle may be repaired. *tr
Harsh shifting of transmission, or other transmission shifting complaints/problems. loss of power on initial take-off from a stop or from low speeds. the feeling of the transmission "slipping". harsh or delayed engagement of transmission "jerking" or "shuddering" upon take-off from a stop. vehicle rolls backwards when on an incline. vehicle loses power when on the interstate and you try and accelerate to pass another vehicle. *tr
Car model: new ford fiesta year: 2011 delivery date: march 25, 2011 kilometers: 3000 following the replacement of the transmission assembly due to grinding noise and random acceleration in june 2011, i.e. 2 months after the delivery date of my new fiesta, much more problems with the new transmission, the dealer refused to repair denying the exiting problems, a complaint was to ford headquarters on 12 july 2011. a service manager left me a voice mail that everything is ok with the car! i wonder,on what basis did she build up her decision?! the following problems are not ok! 1- random acceleration 2- rolls back while on a drive position (randomly and unexpectedly) 3- hesitation (obvious can?t be denied) the car loses its power randomly and after a long drive. 4- buzzing grinding noise when pressing the gas pedal increasing day after day the above mentioned are safety issues and have to do with transmission. i'm still waiting for for headquarters to address the issue properly, and take the responsibility, escaping the problem won't solve it. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *tt
Since i bought this car, the transmission has grinded. ford claims that the grinding is normal. a transmission grinding is far from normal. i have links of many people with the same problem. ford is beating around the bush with the problem and not doing a thing about it. something needs to be done. links are as follows: http://www.motherproof.com/news-rants/story/2011-ford-fiesta-preview1 http://fiestafaction.com/forums/fiesta-service-bay/35272-transmission-grind-normal.html http://fiestafaction.com/forums/fiesta-service-bay/34826-automatic-transmission-noises.html. *tr
I am writing this complaint as i am concerned about a safety issue related to the 2011 ford fiesta with the dual-clutch 6 speed transmission (power-shfit transmission). ford has made a defective product with the installation of the power-shift transmission it has built in a joint venture with getrag of mexico. there are many complaints on the internet relating to the transmission on these cars. i am concerned that the transmission which can give out at any time could be a danger to the consumer. also, the transmission has been shown to act erratically which could possibly lead to harm or even death to the consumer. example: i was getting ready to back out of my driveway in my 2011 ford fiesta when i barely touched the accelerator pedal and was whisked at breakneck speed down my driveway. it took me a second to grasp what was happening and i slammed on the brakes before i went out onto the street. i actually said to myself out loud "whoa, what was that". this happened in my driveway but could have happened out on the road, in a crowded parking lot, any number of other places where the outcome could have been horrific. we don't want another toyota fiasco on our hands. ford is trying to come up with a fix for the transmission problems but they are also trying to keep the problems under wraps. this could be a huge financial blow to ford corporation and i know their priority is to their stock holders. my priority is to the consumer who may be put in harms way by ford's greed. i do not want someone to die because ford wants to keep this all hush hush until they can find a solution for this problem. do not drop the ball on this one. let's try for once to nip something in the bud before someone has to die. as i said above, we don't want another toyota fiasco. thank you.
At 232 miles we started taking this car back to the dealer for transmission problems, and were told they had no clue what was going on, before 60,000 miles they replaced the transmission or did software updates numerous times, also after 60,000 it continued. in addition the frame and axels have had several issues when the car has never been in accident. i was told by a ford mechanic the transmission caused that due to the severe shaking caused by the transmission issues. in addition the air conditioning had issues over and over and the electrical system also had issues after recalls for something to due with the battery harness, my lights went out, my radio stopped working, my air conditioning system and many other odd electrical things happened at this point this car sits in my driveway and is unable to be driven because of safety issues, while i wait and hope that ford is forced to do a buy back. i purchased this car for my daughter when she went off to college in the hopes she would have a safe reliable car, it has been anything but that, so many problems over the years but unable to financially to purchase another and forced to spend money on repairs to keep this one running. i am so upset that they knew before they ever put this car on the road that it was unsafe just so they could make money at the risk they were putting people in, there were several times my daughters car would shake stutter and slow down that she had to pull off the road to avoid causing an accident.. i have all of the work bills do you want those?
Transmission shift erraticly when slowing down or while driving in heavily congested traffic. sometimes it will make vehicle lunge forward with very light fuel pedal application. transmission is also making an audible "clunk" when this happens. maybe a pcm re flash could correct the problem? this has been an ongoing issue since day one starting in december 2010. *tr
At crossroads ford, prince george, virginia: this 2011 ford fiesta...service engine soon light came on..dealership checked car tsb(power train central module-for transmission) only re-set/re-programmed transmission computer.(april 25,2011. on november 4,2011...i took vehicle back to morganton n.c.ford dealership.. my fiesta would not start and after 4 attempts to start the car it hesitated and started it jerked and sounded like it was badly missing....when driven to dealership the vehicle service engine light came on...it would not shift gears properly and the rpms went to 3000rpms before shifting into any gear. dealership stated vehicle didn't have a problem and again re-programmed and up-dated the transmission computer. i was very upset. in december 22,2011: transmission gears not shifting properly. i took vehicle to local morganton,n.c. ford dealership...they tested the pcm..it passed.tested tcm passed all controls. then tried to tell me...it was only a low-battery problem...but had to re-set the transmission computer a third time.then on february 25,2012...fiesta hatch-back lock would not lock to stay shut. i promptly took vehicle to morganton,n.c. ford dealership and the car is still there to be repaired and a part is on order. to fix this lock. i was given a rental vehicle. i intend to sue ford motor corp via n.carolina lemon law i am a very-dissatisfied customer>..my car is a piece of crap. *tr
Horrible horrible horrible!!! i have taken my 2011 ford fiesta in at least 6 times to fix the transmission which is completely shot and every time i get it back they state that "they all do that", or "its perfectly fine." that is complete rubbish! on the freeway my car will shift up and down randomly to the point that it sounds like the engine will explode. the car shifts really hard and i smell burning clutch every time i drive the car. the most the dealership has done is reflashed the transmission computer. (which would not accept the flash) and to make matters worse the service manager even told me to get lost and take it somewhere else because he was done wasting his time on the car. *tr
Test drive was great. at approximately 100 miles the automatic transmission started to miss gear shifts at speeds below 15 mph. the transmission would shift up into 2nd and unexpectedly shift back down into 1st, the same with 2nd and 3rd gear shifts. i am also hearing a metal chatter/scrapping sound below the car at all speeds. recently i had to suddenly brake hard and when i went back on the gas the car did not accelerate, it seemed to still be in 4th gear and did not shift down or select the proper gear. at 1000 miles i went to the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. i am going back to the dealer for a second time and will be contacting ford if the problem is not corrected. i have had the vehicle for only 4 months and currently have 1800 miles on the odometer. this has been a problem since 100 miles new. the consumer stated the vehicle would stall during up shifts, unless he put the vehicle in low gear and slammed on the accelerator. frequently, the transmission, seemed to pulse in and out of gear, and going up a hill, the transmission would not stay in gear, it would try and shift down only to shift back up once he lightly let off the gas. updated 11/15/11
Transmission unexpectedly changing gears or selecting incorrect gear. sudden loss of power due to transmission remaining in too high a gear for engine rpms. lapse in gear selection causes erratic and dangerous acceleration. dangerous gear changes cause car to both surge and stall - depending upon engine rpms not corresponding to correct transmission gear. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shifted gears without being prompted. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the transmission and automatic clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
The incidents i report are caused by the transmission. this new dual clutch system is not selecting appropriately the right gear and often cause to have the car moving ultra slowly at start. not to mention the huge metallic noises when downshifting at slow speed. *tr
While passing a car vehicle's engine revved up to high and car was not responding while passing a car almost had a head on collision. odometer has a false reading while driving a should have been a 500 mile round trip the car resisted 1,200 this is a ploy to make the warranty go out faster, also not getting the mileage the ford people promise. would like to have this investigated. *tr

My 2011 ford fiesta has issues with the transmission. it shifts hard and irratically shifts at lower speeds. i have taken it back into the dealership 2 times in the first 5 months of owning it and all they did was a software update on the second visit. the first visit, they said they could not find anything wrong with it. i now have another appointment for tomorrow and i have only had this car since february. i have driven it hoping that it would just work itself out since it was new but it has gotten worse over time. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged followed by a three second delay response. the failure would occur at any given time. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed the contacts that the vehicle was operating properly. the failure mileage was approximately 3,700. updated 05/25/11 *bf the consumer stated o several occasions the vehicle could not decide which gear to go into. there was delay in acceleration. updated 07/08/11
Occasional clunking noises when starting and slow to crank. after starting car, it refused to engage in any gear--either reverse or drive. turned car off, re-started and was then able to find a gear. this happened on numerous occasions. would try to reverse or drive and it would rev like it was in neutral. lacked power on hills and avg. mpg dropped. check engine light came on. dealer service department diagnosed it as a defective transmission control module (tcm). ordered part and replaced today. this seems to have completely fixed the problem. runs great now, with much more power and better gas mileage than since the first day i drove it off the dealer lot.
Unusual clunking noises when starting in the cold. sounds like a dead-battery start, but louder. can start car, but not without this odd noise. yesterday, after starting car, it refused to engage in any gear--either reverse or drive. turned car off, re-started and was then able to find a gear. also, first and second gears are not engaging properly; there is a clunk when slowing down and it is herky-jerky. it is in for service now as i type, but the courtesy van driver told me they have had 2 fiesta's in already with this problem and he wouldn't be surprised if there were a recall. gulp. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the clutch would not engaged properly and caused the vehicle to stall while driving 15 mph. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer to have the clutch replaced but the repair did not remedy the issue. the failure mileage was 72,500.
I brought the car 6 months ago. in the beginning the car was hesitant after acceleration and lacked power on hills. about a month ago it started to make clucking noises. after the car started, it refused to engage in any gear. i would able to reverse and then finally drive after the car warmed up and numerous restarted. this happened numerous occasions and i attempted to fix the problem 3 times at the dealership. the dealership did not find anything wrong with the car on their diagnostics and they were unable to replicate the problem at the dealership. finally, the dealership said the issue is the battery is low. don't think this would solve the problem through... *tr
Transmission up shifts/down shifts very hard at speeds between 10-30mph. worse when in traffic. *tr
2011 ford fiesta, have had for 28 days (purchased on 11/10/10) has been in to shop twice. first time the engine was very slow to turn on--like a dead battery with clicking noises. this time, the car was slow to turn on and would not go into gear, would try to reverse or drive and it would rev like it was in neutral. finally got it to function, but was very worried about driving it. took to dealership today, they recharged the battery and scrapped some paint off of some part and put some kind of oil on it. i was told that battery problems could affect some thing in the transmission's memory and that the car could "forget" how to go into gear or forget what gear it is in. this worries me as i drive quite a bit for work. i was told at dealership that all vehicles have problems with them (chevy, dodge, etc....) i am not completely satisfied with that. i am keeping all paperwork related to this because i don't think charging the battery and scraping some paint has anything to do with fixing this problem. the car has 1200 miles on it (mainly highway) and i really expected a much better product. i even had to miss a night of work due to sitting in the service department the batter part of the day. *tr
We questioned the dealer salesperson about the erratic behavior the night we purchased the car. we were told the vehicle had a manual transmission that shifted automatically. the vehicle has been to the dealership and or the dealership has been questioned many times regarding the issue. most recently there was a notice for a reprogramming of the transmission, this did not resolve the issue. the dealers still insist that the behavior is normal. this behavior has now created many close call situations from lunging when going forward and reverse. the shifting is very erratic and makes a lot of noise from 0 to 20 mph or so. i'm also concerned about the resale value of this vehicle since i just recently starting doing research on the issue and have found it's a widespread problem. please advise. *tr
