Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2011 Ford Fiesta

I bought this car used with 35000 miles on it. the first thing i noticed was when starting or stopping the car would shudder, like it was gripping and couldn't catch a gear. i normally drive hwy, and i notice no problems when going above 45mph. however i was in stop and go traffic and i thought the car was going to stall on me numerous time, it would shake and make grinding sounds. this car is an automatic and i thought i was driving a manual, that's what it felt like, like i didn't have the clutch in and was coming to a stop. well about 3 weeks ago when i was pulling up to a stop light, the car stalled completely. just turned off, and it really scared me. since then the car has stalled 3 times, each time as i am coming to a stop. i took it in after each time it stalled and i am told that since no check lights came on there is no way they can diagnose anything. i mentioned the shuddering as well, and they gave me a print out with the "usual" feelings associated with the particular transmission that is on my car. i am pissed and very dissatisfied, i love this car, the look, the interior, the electronic upgrades are awesome but these issues with the transmission are miserable. i am scared driving my car. i just want ford to recognize this problem and help us out. we are buying their product, you would think they would fix these issues. *tr

I purchased my 2011 ford fiesta basically when it first came out, brand new.but, just prior to the 10,000 mile mark i started experiencing severe transmission problems, shuddering, stalling out, and eventually overall failure. all of these failing happened either upon taking off or during transit. i've had the car lurch and almost hit another car in traffic as well as fail while driving during rush our traffic; predominantly on city streets but also occasionally on the highway at lower shifts. the issue has been "fixed" and "assessed" more times than i believe and car problem should be without being resolved. every time i would discuss why it continues the customer service representative would always say "that's just how they work" or some other nonchalant verbage to shrug off the persisting problem that i'm paying for. this continued trouble leaves me with almost no trust in my vehicle and has cost me more money than i would care to admit to. i believe ford owes me either a lifetime warranty on my faulty vehicle or a brand new replacement for the time and financial damages i have incurred due to their thoughtless/ careless practices as well as the destruction of my peace of mind. attached is a pdf of my full vehicle service history through cavalier ford from 2011-2019 as well as pep boys which also includes evidence of attempted fraud in relation to the state of my rear breaks and shocks in the last year.

While driving the expressway at ~4:00am through downtown detroit my vehicle lost all power to accelerate. there were no instrument indicators, but the transmission would not respond to accelerator pedal compression. fortunately, there was lighter than usual traffic at the time, but normally it would have been very difficult to safely move a disabled vehicle from the extreme left to the right side shoulder without engine/transmission control. the vehicle is currently at a fmc dealership awaiting inspection/repair. i submit this report because i feel, based on numerous other reports i've read, that the fiesta may be a safety concern. *tr

Numerous time the engine stalls after stopping. transmission has always jerk and hesitated. now stalling problem. stalled four time today. no engine lights or warning! will never buy again! google all the problems with the car! *tr

Due to defective factory transmission my 16 year old daughter's car locked up in the middle of the highway. she could have been killed. i am unsure of the exact date of the incident but the car had to be towed on a flat bed since the transmission was locked and the car would not move.

I traveled from williamsburg va. to new cumberland, pa on business. i stopped for lunch, finished then proceeded to my hotel. on the way at about 40 mph i heard a loud grinding noise during acceleration. i'm retired military so i was close to an mwr auto care on base. their technicians took a look and told me they were 95% sure it was transmission without opening the unit. from there i took it directly to the closes ford dealership, and they told me they couldn't even look at it for two days. they referred me to a transmission company they use around the corner. they told me they would do a dynastic and would let me know. i received the call and they told me the engage barring system unit was going. both the owner and manager did some research and found a lot of material on this 2011 ford fiesta transmission. ford had already done 5 updates. i also did some research and found a lot people were having problems with this transmission. the transmission company told me that ford had this unit on a major back log due to the problems around the country. they found a rebuilt that they could have in two days, where waiting on ford would have been a month. because i was on business, i needed to get back to virigina so $2530 later i'm writing you. is there any guidance or information you could provide? i would like to see if there is a way to have ford pay for their transmission problems. *tr

This is my first new car and i thought i did a good job on my homework with the ford fiesta 2011 but i'm starting to have problems at 47,800 miles. first it was a recall on the "air bag" which i returned and the problem was fix as they stated. secondly, i started notice from time to time the car would hestiate or get stuck in gear especiallly coming around corners. at one point the car was driving very sluggish and i express my concern to ford and it was brought in immediately. the mechanic and myself took the car out for a test drive and as he drive he stated "i had to much air in the tires"......( ?). on 7/8/13 the check engine came on and i'm thinking what could be the problem at 40,000+ miles once again i called ford and immediately the car was taken in for service. i was told it a sensor issues and they would have to order the part but the car was safe to drive. once i received my vehicle back i notice the check engine light was not on and the car was driving extremely sluggish and it seem to have no power. the car was taken back for service on 7/16/13 to have the sensor removed and it was placed w/ " rear oxygen sensor" as they stated. looking back, once the sensor was replaced the car was not the same. it was little over a week the car was back at ford due to wheezing, high pitched and faint sounds. the car performance was poor!!!! ford stated the transmission. it still baffle me at 47,880 i'm having a transmission problem....... i drove a rental provided by ford until they fix my vehicle and i was given a call everyday rearding my vehicle. i pick up my vehicle on 8/2/13 and it stated " the tech removed and replace tranny" it doesn't say it new or extended warranty therefore i question the work that has been done on my vehicle? *tr

This vehicle hesitates and shudders upon acceleration,- mostly between the lower gears. it has done this from the start. this has resulted in several close calls in traffic. ford replaced a seal in the transmission, then they told us the shuddering and hesitation was within "normal specs." it is worse when the vehicle is warmed up and is dangerous -as it can lose power when you need to cross traffic. ford has now agreed to replace the clutch but there aren't any in stock and we were told to drive it until the part can be obtained. however, i feel the car is a danger in traffic and may break down altogether, leaving myself and two disabled persons stranded. i don't feel that the clutch repair will last as they are only replacing what is a defect in the first place in these transmissions. i don't understand why there hasn't been a safety recall on them. maybe they are only waiting for enough people to be killed or injured. i hope we aren't one of them. *tr

The first incident occurred on start of the vehicle. the car would not go into gear. no lights came on and problem could not be replicated. stopped, restarted and worked fine next incident at highway speed. . the car revved up and then was unresponsive to accelerator. had to coast off highway, stop car and restart. . immediately after took to dealer who did a software update about a month ago. yesterday , had multiple incidents in stop and go traffic where car became unresponsive to accelerator in the middle of heavy traffic and while exiting highway and light did come on. this car makes me fear for my life. car is back at dealership and i will never drive it again as there is no warning as to when this malfunction will occur. there is a serious defect that people need to be warned about. i will be trading mine asap. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while traveling at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that first and third gear had failed. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 29,000.

The transmission would not shift properly and made grinding sounds. *tr

Clicking and noise from area of wheels and transmission issues, the firestone shop in las vegas nevada has fixed many issues, drive time automobile customer service always said it is normal, when on slight hills engine acts like its in neutral,..i am a disabled veteran and purchased the vehicle to go to and from the veterans hospital , but to many noises come from the engine area, the steering column area, and wheel area..., it feels like emissions problems and transmission problems!..., engine light comes on often after oil changes. *tr

While driving at normal speeds ranging from <25 mph to highway speed (65 mph), grinding and rattling sounds may be heard from the 2011 ford fiesta dual clutch automatic transmission. this behavior has continued with no solution since the middle of 2013. accompanying these noises is light vibration while driving and instances of transmission slippage under acceleration leading to delayed acceleration in instances where power is needed. *tr

While driving on the expressway (70 mph) the car suddenly had no power. i was pushing the gas pedal down to the floor but, the car was not responding. i yanked the steering wheel hard and the car settled on the shoulder. if a car were behind me (rarity for a car not to be right behind on expressway) it would have plowed right into my car. mechanic could not find a problem. a year later same thing is still happening. the last happened while, i was stopped at a red light. car just went dead. i drive stop and go to work and back. car seems to shift from first gear to third gear every time i have to slow down or stop. seems to fight me from moving, then suddenly lurches forward. my mom borrowed my car one day and says she will never step foot in it again. the dealership just told me that they can't find a problem but, that the front brakes and rotors are bad and i need a new catalytic converter! if ford knows they can't fix the transmission problem (or what they call not a problem), why did they extend the warranty? ford claims it is normal for this transmission to jump. then why did it not jump the first two years i owned it?! my check engine light goes on all the time. my traction control light and hill climb light both came on in the summer, on a flat surface. there was no snow, no slush, no ice, and no hill! the dealership said they didn't find a problem with that either. i am finally down to 8 more car payments and i'm scared to drive any distance in this car! especially in traffic!

On 29 may, 2013 my family and i were driving on the highway when the car stalled. the rpms went up and the car just kept losing speed until it would no longer go with no trouble lights, which it gave the impression the car had slipped into neutral. a tow truck came and brought the car to the nearest ford dealership. the dealership service representative started the car as soon as it arrived and it started up right away and stated since there were no trouble lights that they could not properly diagnose the car so they returned the car to us. on 5 june, 2013 my family and i were driving on the highway when it stalled again, but we turned off the car and let it sit, then restarted it and it was able to make it to another ford dealership where they did an inspection. they drove the vehicle for 27 miles and could not recreate the issue and no trouble codes were present so they could not diagnose it. they gave us back our car and on our way home it stalled four more times nearly causing accidents with a semi-truck. it was brought back to the first ford dealership where it was kept from the 7th-11th. the problem could not be created and the car was released back. on the way home it stalled again. on the 14th it stalled again while waiting at the right turn lane at an intersection and i brought it to the dealership where it was kept from the 14th-19th for further diagnosis. they were finally able to get a code that required the powertrain control module (pcm) to be updated and recalibrated. on the 20th it would not start and a tow truck was called and they gave it a jump start. i then took it to auto zone and the battery tested fine and the dealership later had the same results. a pen light tester showed power was being drained from the battery. the car stalled again on the 22nd requiring it to be pushed off the road twice. now the dealership says the battery is bad. recall? *tr

Due to a transmission design flaw, the car will shudder when the gears shift from low to high. the car was diagnosed at tuttle-click ford in irvine, ca. and fritts ford in riverside, ca. on 9/20/14, 12/26/2014, 2/15/16, 3/10/16, 5/28/16, and 6/23/16. the transmission of the car continues to shudder during motion on city streets and highways. i have a copy of each invoice for supporting documents.

My 2011 ford fiesta after not even 5 days of driving the vehicle it started jerking/lunging forward making crazy clicking noise. transmission service soon light came on called them they came to my house and got it. it took them two weeks to find the problem and fix it. then i was told the car has to get use to my driving never heard that a day in my life. now it's grinding, slipping, hesitating, lose power, and roll backwards at take off. i was doing 65 last week when the car started jerking and i almost got hit. taking it in saturday to see what they say this time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving 20 mph, various warning lights illuminated and the vehicle came to a complete stop. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the automatic transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 28,000. ...updated 09/22/15 *bf updated 11/07/2017*cn

All three occurrences requiring my car to be taken to a shop for repairs involved the vehicle moving at hi-way speeds. while travelling at 65mph, the cruise control cut out and engine died, so i had to coast to the side of the road. eventually it restarted and i got home. the issue was electronic in nature according to the dealership where i bought the car, and took it for service. the part was not immediately available and when asked, the dealership said it was safe to drive until the part came in. the repair was made under warranty. the second problem was very similar to the first occurrence, and the dealership told me it was a different problem, but was nonetheless electronic in nature. the repair was made under warranty. the third and most recent issue involves the transmission. on my daily commute, cruise set at 65mph, the transmission disengaged. there was no power to the drivetrain. when i coasted to the shoulder, no gear could be achieved. when shut off, the car would not restart. after about ten minutes, after many clunking and clicking noises had occurred under the hood, the car started and i continued. it happened again...and again. this occurred five times in 30 miles, and finally the car would not restart. this was about five miles from home and my car had to be towed to the dealer for repair. the car is two years old with 85,000 miles. all miles are hi-way miles. all routine maintenance has been performed with receipts. this vehicle is a safety hazard, for intermittent, total loss of power and control on the hi-way, as well as leaving the occupants stranded at risk, on the shoulder of said hi-way. ford does not seem to want to acknowledge publically that this is a safety problem (i.e. recall). *tr

The transmission makes grinding noises in gears 3 to 6 ford mechanic says it is normal, there is nothing normal about it. i don't dare go on the highway. there are many complaints on the internet why isn't ford doing anything? *tr

car accelerated forward while in reverse gear. the car was put into reverse gear to back into a parking space in a drive way on a slight,15 degree ( approximate ) incline. as the accelerator was pressed the car lunged forward instead reverse. *tr

In february 2012, my ford fiesta (automatic dual-clutch transmission) had barely 15,000 miles on it. the dealership found a transmission leak when i took the car in for regular maintenance, and the dealership kept the car to work on it for two weeks. on march 17, 2013, i was about to return home from an out of town trip when the car gave a 'transmission malfunction' message, at which point the transmission began making grinding noises when trying to shift, jerking, and then it wouldn't go in reverse. i had to call roadside assistance to have my car transported to a local dealership to have the car fixed. the ford dealership still has not been able to tell me the specific problem with the vehicle or what is being done to fix it. this car has 28,870 miles on it at this time. *tr

Hi, i own a 2011 ford fiesta that gets stuck in 4 inches of snow at busy intersections causing a crash hazard. the early 2011 ford fiestas were made with traction control that you can never shut off. you can't get power to the wheels and you block the intersection until multiple people exit their vehicles and push you out of the intersection. it is a definite safety hazard. i called ford and they told me to call the ford dealership where i bought the car. the ford dealer told me there was nothing available to help. i have a car with only 25,000 miles on it that is dangerous to drive in the winter. *tr

Over the past 1 1/2 months my vehicle has stalled on the freeway 6 times. each time the "wrench" light came on, the display read "engine malfunction" and "service now". when this would happen, the engine tachometer would first drop to 1000 rpm and the accelerator would become non-responsive. soon after that the engine would just rev as if it were in neutral; then "bam" the transmission would engage abruptly and make a loud bang noise and lag when shifting. this has become a major concern as i have had people almost run into the rear of me because of my decline in speed. the only way to get the vehicle back to normal operation is to completely pull to the side of the road and turn the car off for a few seconds and restart it, unfortunately by doing this it resets the fault codes and does not retain the information for the dealership to be able to diagnose. i had brought the car to the dealership and left it for a week. they installed a "flight recorder" and drove for over 114 miles to try to reproduce the problem; but could not. i had pick ed up my car dissapointed that they could not reproduce the problem and as a result could not fix it. when i drove my vehicle that same day to work, it happened again at only 26 miles after their testing. i have seen on other web sites that this seems to be a common problem with other 2011 ford fiesta's, i only hope ford comes up with a fix for this issue soon as it seems to me to be a program issue with the vehicles computer. *tr

From a stop position at stop sign, stop light, etc. when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate the car shudders hard and shakes then it catches and speeds up. i bought it used with 24000 miles on it. really upsetting when trying to cross traffic and it starts to stall and shudder. *tr

Vehicle: 2011 ford fiesta, manual trans., fwd. road conditions: snow covered 1-2", no ice underneath, no slush buildup. incident: at stop sign waiting to turn left onto road. oncoming traffic in either direction is thru, no stop. no oncoming traffic. accelerating across two lanes to turn left- divided 4 lane municipal road 40mph speed limit. midway across road, front wheels began to slip, traction control activated and removed power. car stopped in middle of road. was unable to move vehicle in 1st/2nd/3rd gear without traction control removing power. in first instance, oncoming traffic had to stop while i exited vehicle and pushed vehicle into median where traction was found. this happened twice. after second occurrence, determination was made to only turn right to not place self at risk of accident. follow-up research: early production ford fiesta are incapable of deactivating traction control. later models do and in the 3rd printing of the owners manual it is recommended to turn off traction control in snow or mud. this action would allow wheels to spin to pavement and generate sufficient traction to maintain or begin vehicle motion. additional information: above research was obtained by discussion with ford technical support/engineering. they also advised that it was not possible to retrofit my vehicle with the capability to deactivate traction control. i have had vehicles in the past of similar weight/powertrain/profile which were equipped with one-touch buttons to disable traction control when in the appropriate situations. these cars were very capable in 1-2" of snow with the traction control disabled. i have advised ford that i intended to provide this report to nhtsa and they likewise said they intend to self-report it as well. recommendation: i believe this to be a safety issue that needs to be addressed by whatever means nhtsa has available. *tr

2011 ford fiesta. consumer writes in request to initiate safety recall for "bucking and jerking" problem while driving. *tgw the consumer stated the bucking and jerking when slowing down and coming to a stop. at the last moment the transmission would drop into the lowest gear while the engine was still reducing its rpm. the engine is the pulling against the braking action when the rpm's bump up to 16-18 rpm. the consumer was informed by the dealer, that they were aware of the situation, but they couldn't do anything about it. they also stated it may require reprogramming a control module, which they couldn't do, unless ford initiated it. *jb

While pulling out into traffic, transmission shuddered and failed to operate causing traffic to come to a halt. this was the first incident. several times afterwards, transmission would shudder and vibrate while shifting gears. took to dealership in november of 2012 when this first occurred and they updated the transmission program. this update did not fix the problem. returned to the dealership on february 22, 2013 for the same problem and they're reply was, "this is normal". this is not normal, this car is a death trap. i only drive this vehicle about 9 miles to work a day and i feel very unsafe driving it. *tr

I have had numerous instances of my car just dying on the road. the first time this happened, i was making a turn into my subdivision in front of oncoming traffic. when i hit the gas my car slowly rolled into the middle of the street. luckily the oncoming drivers were paying attention and slowed down enough to not hit me. i pulled off the road, put the car in park and restarted it. this happened on and off but the dealer could never find an issue. to start it was no more than once a day but this weekend it happened at almost every stop. it continues to have this issue. when i stop at a light or stop sign it rumbles and cuts off. it has gotten so bad that i'm afraid to drive down busy streets. i keep my radio off just so i can be sure to hear when this happens otherwise i'll be caught in the middle of oncoming traffic again. in addition to this most recent issue, the car had multiple issues in the past. the first month that i purchased this car it would just not turn on most mornings, or even after being off for a short amount of time. *tr

Numerous times when driving my 2011 ford fiesta the rpm's shoot way up and the car won't accelerate when i hit the gas. even while driving at a speed of 45mph and try to go faster the car stalls and wont accelerate at all and get quite scary when this happens, especially on a highway when you could cause an accident. i have been driving and this happens and i have had to put it in park turn it off and turn it back on to get it to accelerate normally again. *tr

The car is at the dealer for the third time since the beginning of the month. while driving, all of a sudden the vehicle is not in "drive" anymore, and i have to coast to the side of the road, turn off car, and restart. it is as if the transmission just goes out. this can happen multiple times in one driving session and has happened on highway, on side streets, backing out of my driveway, etc. the engine light comes on repeatedly each time. car also lurches and sounds as if it might stall at random times when accelerating. each time, the dealer test drives after the "fix" have been from 0 miles to 6 miles, it does not seem like this test drive is long enough to see the issue. this problem is an extreme safety hazard to me and my family and i have lost faith in ford in fixing/dealing with this problem. *tr

Powertrain: have had chattering in lower gears of my 2011 ford fiesta se.....acts like is straining at times to go into gear.....have had it to dealership and they tell me it is normal....also contacted ford via email and they concur with the dealer..the dealer did some computer updates and when i got it back it still chatters...........what happens if it fails and ford refuses to do anything about the problem....as the extended warranty is only for 60,000 miles and i travel 60-90 miles a day back and forth to work what kind of dependable vehicle do i have....... *tr

I bought the car new and have taken it to two separate dealerships to correct this issue and it continues. initially, the transmission light came on and the car began having trouble shifting. after the first repair, the car began shaking uncontrollably. the second repair corrected the shaking, but now (at 15,755 miles) the car will (1) make grinding metallic noises when shifting, (2) fail to shift on any incline (instead it revs to approximately 2500 rpms and "sticks" there), (3) jolt forward when the brake is applied as if the accelerator was pressed down, and (4) roll backwards on hills as if it is a manual transmission. i understand that (4) can be common among newer automatics that attempt higher fuel economy. however, numerous times the speed at which the car rolls back has incurred a safety risk. this seems to be another indication of an issue with the transmission. *tr

Car was purchased brand new in 2010 and within a year car began having issues with acceleration, deceleration, bucking, jerking, gear changes and just erratic shifting. car will not accelerate to merge with traffic on the highway and will stall when stopping. we began complaining to the dealership (metro ford schenectady ny) within a year after purchase and have complained multiple times and just get shrugged off and told that it's normal for the dual clutch. last month 09/16 the tcm fully went and was replaced and when i went to pick it up it was bucking and shuttering and revving up to 2500 rpm without me even being on the gas pedal at all and they insist this is normal due to the reflash and will even out after driving for a while which is insane to me that i should have to drive a jerking and shuddering erratically shifting vehicle on the highway to work praying my car doesn't cause an accident. this ongoing issue for 6 years now has drained me and deterred me from ever wanting to own another ford ever again.

While accelerating to get on the highway, the car lost power and i had to coast to the shoulder. turning the car off and restarting it got it to re-engage the transmission again. the dealership told me that it is a bad transmission, that i was loosing one of the clutches (this is an automatic, dual-clutch transmission). while ford offered me $600 off a new transmission, i didn't have the money to put a new transmission in, and i continued to drive the car. on march 4th, while driving about 40 mph in town, the car again lost power. i coasted to the shoulder, parked the car and attempted to restart it. this time it would not start and could not be shifted out of park. after about an hour, the car made some mysterious clicking sounds and i was able to drive the car to the dealership. the dealership could not determine the problem, but decided to reprogram the transmission control module with an update. exactly a week later (march 11th), the car lost power while at a stop light, leaving me stranded in the middle lane of a 3-lane major city road at rush hour. i put it in neutral and pushed the car out of the street. once again, it refused to restart and once i placed it in park, the transmission was stuck there. it never did recover and had to be dragged onto the tow truck bed. this time the dealership tells me that not only are the transmission clutch plates bad, but now the transmission control module is also done. the car has 92,000 miles on it now, the majority of which (85% or so) are highway miles (i live over 70 miles from where i work). i am waiting for a new transmission to come from the factory. i was told yesterday (3/20/2013) that the transmission is on backorder. i can only conclude that either the new transmissions are being retooled before being released, or there are so many faulty transmissions, they can't keep up with the demand. *tr

I had a 2011 ford fiesta, i have been experiencing a jerking/lunging motion when the transmission downshifts from time to time. i have almost been in an accident twice because of this with my 8 year old daughter and girl scouts in the car. i took the vehicle in for service and have informed their service dept. /mechanic of the issue. they assured me that nothing was wrong and the vehicles computer is adjusting to how i drive the car and that is why it is doing this. they replaced the clutch and reprogrammed my car over four times? i have done a little research and found this websites after website with people with other complaints similar to mine. i called ford motor company and filed a formal complaint. it took a week for someone to call be back and i was told the car was fine. i tried to call back, but you only get to the call center and no further. i was refused to be transferred to a manager and was told that was that?s the way the car was designed to drive. i was offered a discount the x plan to trade in my car for another but that would not help. when dealing with the dealership the service manager said i am sorry i can't help you anymore. we get at least 6 calls a day about the same problem but until ford does something there is nothing we can do. i work with three other women that also have had the same problem with their cars. two of us had to trade our cars because we felt so un-safe in the cars. *tr

Driving in traffic normal speed about 40-45 mph, vehicle stopped accelerating completely. normal commute & almost got rear ended since the car started to decelerate quickly. once we were able to pull off to the side of the road we tried switching the gears and restarting the car. after this, the car would not restart at all. taken the car to ford multiple times and they have ran all sorts of diagnostics and we find ourselves at the dealership at least every 2-3 months with issues. ford corporate did nothing but provide extended warranty. what would they have done if we were actually rear ended & severely hurt because of the faulty car? unfortunately an extended warranty does not correct he problem & this vehicle is still jeopardizing my family's safety and we'll being. *tr

This transmission bucks, shakes, and at time falls completely down on quick acceleration. upon acceleration it just comes out of gear, and rev the engine. it is has been rebuilt several times, flashed tcm's at $120 a pop, but it is so dangerous it needs to be crushed. this model also has a poorly engineered negative ground wire that has cost time and money hunting 'ghost' sensor problems related to the transmission and engine. drive this car as the evidence of failure! as a responsible owner i'm hoping it will not go to another victim.

Transmission, which has never been smooth when accelerating form stop now stutters and shudders rapidly when accelerating slowly from a stop. does not do it every time but does it frequently. i have had it in to the dealer to check it out and they say they have adjusted it but it continues to exhibit this odd behavior. the car did not do this in the first year of ownership. the dealer says the transmission is "quirky". the stuttering and shuddering is not, as far as i am concerned, normal for this transmission and needs to be repaired or the transmission needs to be replaced. the transmission does not function as promised! *tr

Numerous occasions while accelerating and decelerating the 2011 ford fiesta started to stall, jerk and buck like a bronco. it seemed as though it was not getting power to the transmission or drive train momentarily. this has been an ongoing off and on for about a year. we recently took it to the sunrise ford dealership, fort pierce, fl, and the service rep claims they could not find anything mechanically wrong. this vehicle is used to transport young children and adults. i expect the ford manufacturer to either remedy the issue or buy the vehicle back for what we paid for it!!! it could cause an accident because when it bucks it also slows down in 45-50mph traffic, and the traffic is bumper to bumper at times and we could get rear ended!!! something needs to be done immediately. should i also find an attorney that will represent us should ford motor be liable??? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the vehicle was unable to be repaired due to the vehicle having a dual transmission and that at 3,000 miles engine power would decrease. the manufacturer had not been notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 2,900.

The throttle body malfunctioned after only 17,600 miles. also 29 parts needed to be replaced all at once under the hood. i have found several stories online of people getting multiple transmission replacements or other drive train components on their 2011 fiesta s. *tr

Took car in to dealership for oil change, tire rotation, etc. and was told it had an oil leak and that they wouldn't fix it (it's still under warranty) until the leak became worse! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact took her vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance and was advised she had a transmission leak; however, they will not repair it until it gets worse. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 51,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while traveling 3 mph the vehicle erroneously accelerated causing another vehicle to crash into the vehicle. the driver and passenger of the contact's vehicle suffered whiplash. the vehicle was able to be driven away from the scene. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was found that the transmission had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the issue. the failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 42,000. mailed 02/18/15*lj the consumer stated even after the engine was overhauled because the mechanic claimed oil leaked onto the internal clutched caused slippage, he continued to experience problems. the consumer believed the problem was with the fuel injection system. updated 03/29/16.*jb

When driving the car, the transmission makes bad noises when it is shifting. it jerks, grinds, and shifts erratically. i have taken the car to the dealership multiple times and have been told that although it is a real issue, it is normal. i have been to ford dealerships at least three times and have been told that it is normal. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while putting out of a parking space, the vehicle jerked and lost power. the contact had to wait until the traffic died down to pull out of the space. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer needed to be reset and the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

When stopped and take off again, the car does not want to move. it jerks, jumps and does not want to move. it also does this when driving down the street. it acts like it is going to quit but just keeps on jerking and jumping. this is very annoying and am told there is no fix. this has been going on for way too long. i have had it at jim o'neil ford and bill collins ford, and neither fixed it. then i started taking it to oxmoor ford. they have been really good at trying to find and fix the problem. they have adjusted something, worked on something else but being a lady have no idea even if they told me would not know. this last time it was in there they ordered a new clutch and it has been almost 3 weeks and they have not received it yet. sure hope this fixes the problem. i am afraid that i am going to either get killed or hurt seriously due to this car not moving like a normal car and just jerking along. i have sent two notices to ford motor company via their web site and have not heard anything from them. this really disappoints me because i worked there for 37 years in louisville. the above box asking for the speed, it occurs when taking off or driving 55 mph. *tr

22 days plus additional 6 days: told by ford dealership mechanic that oil pan is leaking oil, and water pump leaking. dye pen fluorescent light inspection shows front crank seal leak, inspection of engine block damaged threads. replaced engine per ford, removed transmission from engine, disassemble engine from engine mount, mount new short block and install, reseal components, re-time engine, install engine to transmission assembly, rechecked for leaks coolant and oil. ford fiesta broke down next day after i picked up car from ford shop for 22 days, automatic transmission would not go into drive, reverse or neutral, called tow truck for help to get vehicle back to ford mechanic, who still working on car. i am very disappointed with the quality of the 2011 ford fiesta, doesn't get 40mpg, gets 35mpg, does not accelerate when you need to kind of lags, then makes gurgling noise in the water pump. 2011 ford fiesta is not made in the usa and it shows, it's a lemon. *tr

Takara recall i've owned this death trap since 2012 and has had the dual transmission replaced at least twice.. it has always jerked and stalled out on me while traveling through intersections, pulling off from stop signs/red lights, and while driving up hills. it's embarrassing, but most of all unsafe for me, my children, and other drivers.
