We have classified the 65 complaints from 2011 Ford Fiesta about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Car shudders excessively on acceleration. will also lurch forward during acceleration. grinding noises when car is on low speed (1-20 mph). rear taillights stopped working without warning.
When i purchased my vehicle new i had several problems with the transmission. after several trips to joe cotton ford in carol stream, il there was no remedy besides removing the cables from the battery to reset the vehicle's computer. on september of this year i received a letter from ford motor co. to advise that they need to do a software update due to a tcm circuit failure. i took my vehicle to friendly ford 333 e irving park, roselle, il, on monday november 11, 2019, so they can rectify the problem. prior to taking my vehicle to the dealership i removed the battery cables. apparently the dealership was not able to install the new software. the service advisor advised me that the card code reader was not able to identify the error message and they had to charge me. my vehicle was at the dealership for several days and they loaned me a car while it was in service. i was charged $199.00 for them to look at the problem and since they could not update the software i had to pay the bill. i called ford motor co. for assistance and the agent told me that there was little they can do since the dealership is a franchise. this is unjust that i was charged for something i was advised that would be free of charge. i hope to be reimbursed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving at any speed, the brakes squeaked, the steering lost power, and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to friendly kia (877-544-6719, located at 5819 us-19, new port richey, fl 34652) where it was determined that the failure was due to humidity. the vehicle was then taken to ford of port richey (727-233-7143, located at 10715 us-19, port richey, fl 34668) where it was diagnosed that the brakes, transmission, and battery needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
Upon shifting into neutral and or just engaging the clutch the engine will shut off, usually as i approach a stop light or am in a parking lot. sometimes it is a rough stop like the transmission was not fully disengaged, but most often it is smooth as if turning of the car with the key. the silent shut down occurs both while the vehicle is in motion, any where from 1-70 mph, and when a complete stop has been reached. i have had this happen at least two dozen times in the 2.5 years i have driven this car. approximately, 80% of the time it is the 'silent shut down', where i do not even notice the car is not running until i put the car back into gear and try to accelerate. i have almost been rear ended at stop lights in traffic several times because of this issue. this issue has occurred at all times of the year with the air conditioner both on and off, but it is much more prevalent in the warm weather with the air conditioner running. in the past week it has happened 3 times all of which were with the air on, and the engine silently shut down.
The vehicles transmission abruptly down shifted while driving at a high speed. i almost was rear ended had i not moved aside. this has happened twice. there have been numerous reports of faulty transmission and electrical problems where it stems from. i was a die hard ford owner until ford refuses to repair the issue. maintenance has always been on time, and not just oil changes.
1) door latches are faulty. any door can open while car is in motion. also, door latch sensors are faulty and cause all interior lights to come on if it thinks a door is open. happens within 1st mile driven every time since 80k miles. 2) in snow, the piece of body plastic in front of the front tires can get caught and dragged underneath the front tires. 3) electrical problems: fuse box rusts, prongs break off in fuse box. sometimes pushing clutch in would cause lights to dim or speaker static (manual transmission). problematic 12v (always hot) routinely broke 12v devices. dealership was unable to fix this at last warranty maintenance. 4) several dealerships were unable to solve or find the cause of any of the following: brake rotor usually causes howling sound under 30mph after a few miles, (started around 50,000 miles) and car sometimes shut off while stopped & idling (rare, started around 70,000 miles). also, manual transmission lever gets too sticky to move without extreme force unpredictably, (started around 25,0000 miles). every time was told transmission fluid looks fine. 5) high pitched whirring sound and loss of power with ac or defroster, worse as time went on 6) car was sold because cost to repair faulty door sensors leading to headlights never turning off, thereby causing battery to drain below 12v regularly, exceeded the car's value. car would not pass inspection with this issue & needed frequent jump starts. 7) extreme distraction: "sync" interface will cut off stereo audio without warning to try and connect to mobile phone for a vehicle health report in the middle of driving. 8) air flow sensor goes off frequently starting around 50,000 miles, only solution is spraying in lots of air flow sensor cleaner. 9) drivers side windshield wiper fell off about a dozen times, even dealership installed. very unsafe car in my opinion.
Since i bought this car used, i have had nothing but issues that are seemingly related to ford's dps6 transmission and electrical wiring. my gears slip out of place and my car doesn't seem to want to accelerate or slow down properly. my horn and front windows don't work and we've tried switching fuses and checking the door wiring. in relation to the transmission, i was on westbound i4 outside of downtown orlando around 2:00 4/24/19 (my birthday) and my car accelerated forward as i braked, which made me hit the car in front of me. there were no codes, no lights, no warnings on my car and it's under 100,000 miles. i was as a result faulted for my accident which skyrocketed my insurance. we spent money fixing the damage from the accident, not realizing that ford has been lying about their transmission. i bought this car used and have had it for less than a year and, the person who had it before me drove it as a work car. i attempted to bring my car in on 7/19, as i found an article from detroit free press about this problem saying ford dealerships would be able to attend to the issue. i called three dealerships and one hung up on me and the other two said that they couldn't help me. i do not feel driving safe in my car at this point as ford is dodging the issue at hand. i am a 21 year old supporting herself and i cannot afford to fix anymore issues that happen because of this insanely unbelievable error from ford.
Head lights all of a sudden stopped working, had been using car earlier in the night then had to run out again & no head lights, had fuse checked states fuse box corroded, shorting out fuses, while checking them car would no longer start, finally did get to work after checking all fuses. seen article from canada about same problem but unites states doesn't seem to acknowledge there is a problem. this is definately a hazard if it can affect the car actually starting or shutting off

For the past few months i've been trying to figure out what's been happening with my vehicle. i have a 2011 ford fiesta. it is a manual. i'm not stalling it, but when i'm driving- whether i'm stopped or actually moving (even at 45 + mph) it will completely shut off. the rpms sometimes fall 2-300 below randomly but will come back and keep going. however, when they fall and for whatever reason the vehicle can't figure out that the rpms should be higher, it shuts off completely. when it actually shuts off i have no warning. here is the link i found on information about the ford focus recalls: https://www.wftv.com/news/national-news/ap-top-news/ford-recalls-nearly-15m-focuses-because-engines-can-stall/859721918 luckily i have a manual and i can shift into neutral and restart the car even when i'm going down city streets or busy intersections. this is an incredibly dangerous situation, and i've been trying to diagnose it for months. in a 10 minute drive this can happen as many as 3-4 times. there's no link to why it happens sometimes and not others. shifting into another gear doesn't effect it. i have noticed after i get fuel it tends to happen more often, but i'm unsure if that's correlation or causation. sometimes after i get fuel i can't even get back onto the main road with out the car dying completely. when it shuts off it will almost always turn back on just fine. i recently got my battery replaced thinking that that would have possibly solved the issue but it has persisted. oil changes/tune ups don't fix it either. i'm unsure of what the exact issue is, but i did see that ford is recalling their focus models from 2012-2018 for an issue that sounds exactly what i'm experiencing. i would really like to see them open up their investigation to possibly include fiesta's like mine because it seems to be a related issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. while driving 60 mph at night, the contact was pulled over by a state trooper who alerted her that the vehicle's headlights were not illuminated. the vehicle was taken to courtesy auto & truck center (103 e hill st, thorp, wi 54771) where it was diagnosed that the battery junction box had corroded all the headlight wiring, which needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I've only owned my fiesta for 2 years and now my car won't move when i am in drive or reverse as i step on the gas peddle to accelerate. before this, my car would jerk forward when i would go to accelerate and act as if it was going to stall out in the middle of traffic. i've taken it to ford before to get the recalls fixed because my passenger door swung open while i was driving and they fixed the transmission and clutch recall but now i'm having problems again.
Tails lights , dome lights inside of the car dash lights, radiator ( thermostat) failure causing over heating .and car shutting off while driving the fuse box is corroded , the box was not properly made as there is a vent hole on it allowing salt from the winter streets dirt water etc to enter the box and now we have to replace the box, fuses and several electrical cord issues . my phone is not allowing me to up load my photos
I purchased my vehicle in january of 2018. 3 or so weeks after purchasing the vehicle, my check engine light came on. it was the catalytic converter that needed to be replaced(fortunately this fell under warranty so it was no cost to me) at the time of purchase, i did not check to see if the ac was in working order since it was winter. now that it's gotten warmer, i find that it does not work. the unit was charged and the compressor was not defective. after 3 hours of diagnostics, i was informed that the problem was water in the fuse box. the entirety of the fuse box was heavily corroded. all of the fuses had to be replaced, as well as foam seals placed, and dielectric grease placed on all the fuses to protect them from future damage. this fixed the problem with the ac, as well as a problem i was having with the vehicle jerking upon acceleration. i suspect that this may have been the reason for the catalytic converter failure as well. the issue has been recognized by ford but a recall has not been placed yet, so all of these issues are expected to be paid for by me. if the repair had been delayed any longer, i believe that more electrical/fuse issues would have surfaced.
My 2011 ford fiesta with only 94k on it has a automatic transmission failure and starting issues. there are recalls on where ford extended the tcm warranty to 10 years 150,000 miles which i believe may have lead to the failure of my transmission. the ford dealership in ankeny iowa says they will not do anything for me to fix this problem..
There was a transmission failure, electrical problems, and brake problems. the engine dies while driving. although seven years old, it has less than 40,000 miles on it from it being worked on constantly. it is useless as a vehicle.
Radio stops working intermittently and loud static sounds persist even when the radio appears to be off. the sound is distracting and can get really loud to the point that it is unbearable. only solution is to pull over and stop the car. the sound continues for a few seconds even after turning the car off.
There was an active recall on my 2011 ford fiesta hatchback ses that i aquired from an auto dealer but not from ford. took it to ford when i later found out about the recall on door latches and went to have the latches fixed and later that day the front passenger window pops off track and my window on the drivers side has issues with going up and down. the ford place said that in order to fix the windows it would cost 100.00 dollars to fix and they swear up and down thst they didn't work in the doors but the had to replace the latches. the windos wasworking fine until i took it to shaffer ford.they said in the shop that there was a recall on the transmission clutch and the control module but it seemed to shift fine and i now have a wrench light and not the oil light beside the wrench one but another one and the transmission malfunction alert comes on in the display. my girlfriend is pregnant and when it jerks when i come to a complete stop it pulls the car seat tight on her belly and everytime it hurts her. i believe it's a safety issue and my only means of transportation. if i knew about this car before i stated the finance, i would of purchased something else. just wanted to say thank from all us folks who got the ford fiesta. they are junk. i hope
The vehicle was purchased brand new. we have already taken it to ford repair shops a number of times for replacement parts, repairs, recalls, etc. recently, the vehicle would not start (among other continuing problems with shaking while braking, jerking when shifting gears--both of which we've already had worked on several times) so we had it taken to a ford dealer near where we live. we found out the problem is with the transmission control module. it turns out that ford has a csp for this problem. however, we did not know about it and by the time we started having problems, we were past the mileage for the warranty coverage. i am extremely displeased with this vehicle and the customer service we have received. i believe it is bias and discriminatory to repair problems you know about only if they are on vehicles with mileage under 150,000. if there is a known problem. ford should fix it and fix it for everyone, not just people who do not drive their vehicle frequently. this car has had known transmission problems and numerous recalls already. the problem is, every time we have it worked on, it never fixes it completely. *tr
Takata recall had the vehicle approximately one week purchased from a private. i stopped at a stop sign and car died on me and left me stranded at a 4 way stop. i tried to get vehicle started and it started briefly and died on me. i was frantic as i am an older lady with my grandchild that was scared to death. i was pushed off the road by a concerned citizen who helped us push 2011 ford fiesta off the road. i had the unit towed and had motor replaced. the car still will not run and i have gone through all my saving on this piece of junk. it is now at a ford dealership and they still are scratching their head and cannot fix unit. it is located at halliday ford lincoln incorporated, 1700 columbus ave, washington court house, ohio, 43160, telephone 800-358-3673. ivoq n n n n 0 v n n
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the headlights and horned failed without warning. in addition, when the vehicle idled, the fan failed to cool and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (beach ford located at 2717 virginia beach blvd, virginia beach, virginia 23452) where it was diagnosed that the electrical fuse box failed due to corrosion. the dealer attempted to clean the corrosion to bypass more time for the contact, but recommended that the electrical fuse box be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
Unable to get car out of park, when i did, coming out of a parking lot, it stalled in middle of a busy street, had no power, transmission, stability and check engine light came on, after pushing on the gas peddle a few times, it finally, had enough power to drive it home.
Vehicle has been one of many thousands to experience severe transmission issues, which have now become serious safety concerns due to ford's inability to provide a solution. this 2011 fiesta with automatic transmission was purchased new and had the sluggish feeling early on. dealer said it was a "smart engine" and would have to learn driver's driving habits. the problem persisted and got considerably worse around 9k miles....took it in, failed transmissions test...new clutch put it. thought it was fine until it started doing the same thing...failed test...no parts available- had to wait on parts. this is about the 5th or 6th time going through this process, except that now the problem is the most severe it's ever been (even with the a new clutch put in last week and being told it was "fixed'). car won't start at times, then when it does, it drives very sluggish - or won't come out of low gear (revs very high)....of if you get it into higher gear, it will suddenly slip out of it back down to low - very high rpms and very loud. it is hard to accelarate and know that it's going to go - this is especially troubling at an intersection making a left turn, on the highway with higher speed traffic etc. many others have experienced this same problem very severely. class action suit in ca now-- and one just started in australia. same problems. ford has continued to sell these cars for years, knowing that this problem is there- their only solution being to wait for parts and then get it "repaired" - except it is being repaired with parts that are no better and seem to be far worse than early on. it is scary to drive and feel safe - yet one has to get to work, etc. ford is digging their heels in and still offering no remedy, knowing about these very unsafe situations that drivers are being put in. please scan the internet regarding the many people who have had serious problems.
My 2011 ford fiesta se will not start. electrical issues , pcm possibly. when you try to start the car all lights flicker, battery is fine and continues to attempt to start even after the key is turned back in non-starting position. the radio and usb/charging ports don't work either. this potential repair is going to cost me more than this thing is worth. ford shouldn't sell crap. i bought this car because i needed reliable safe transportation not to have a money pit with no transportation and a loan. i literally just spent $1000 at a garage for maintenance and it wouldn't start when i went to pick it up yesterday. now the ford dealership is guessing pm! i shouldn't have to pay for this, ford should recall the pcm and fix the electrical or stop ripping people off with garbage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact received a manufacturers recall on the door. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph, when the driver's side air bag deployed without warning or impact. the contact cut the air bag off and drove the vehicle to the residence. there were no injuries reported. the contact stated that the horn, the air bag, and cruise control were no longer operable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70, 000.
This is an update to a previous complaint with my car. previously the car gave out in the hills of a sf. the car said it had a problem with the transmission and would not give any propulsion risking going backward on a hill. the dealer updated the software. they said this was the fix. they said after 1000 miles it should fix itself. since then the car has been running much more sluggish. it forces itself on accelerating. it jerks much more excessively when i take off the gas. it jerks much more when i brake and i hear the metal grinding and clanking together. it was a really bad software update. 1000 passed and we ran into another problem. i had the car parked in the house. tried to turn car back on and would not turn on. i heard clicking noise as if the battery was dead. i had dome lights on for a few minutes but nothing excessive. shouldn't die out like that. tried several times to turn it on and nothing. started to call roadside assistance for backup. i then removed the car charger i had plugged in and tried again. the car sputtered on and starting giving me notifications. a service and check engine light. also the display said that there was a "transmission malfunction" and to service it now. the engine was really forcing itself as i heard it. rpm was high even going slow. car still sputters on after a few tries. checked the codes through obd2. car was throwing p0606. said that it was ecm/pcm processor problem. i have no idea what is wrong with this car. i feel like its completely falling apart all around. horrible car with too many issues!!!! this car needs a massive recall on it!!! it is unequivocally unsafe and unfit for the road!
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving at low speeds and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle experienced a period of unintended acceleration and abnormal shaking. the failure occurred three times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a clutch failure and that it needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
While in motion, my vehicle had an intermittent electrical issue. the service wrench appears, and displays "engine malfunction, seivce now" the engine then derates and runs very rough. with a manual transmission, it is difficult to shift gerars without stalling. upon turning off and restarting, the engine resets and runs normally. occurences are random without any warning. this is a safety issue. in one instance my engine nearly stalled in a busy intersection as a result of this issue. ford has a tsb for the issue (13-11-15) that involves changing the wiring of the car. i believe this should be elevated to recall status so that repairs are covered. given that it is a design issue that was built in to the vehicle and requires a change to the wiring to fix, ford should be responsible for the service. i was billed $442.85 by my dealer to correct this issue.
After being in park at a gas station, i go into drive and start to go when the cars shudders, screeches, halts, and then loses power. i was able to start the car again, but when i pressed the gas there is no power. i try to put the car in park, and though the gear is in park an alert comes up telling me to put the car in park. car will not go into park. keeps rolling. have to use my emergency break to stop the car. paid out of pocket to have the car towed to the nearest ford dealership. they said they were "pretty sure" it was the transmission control module. 5 days after bring it to them i call and find out that they have reprogrammed the transmission control module and something with the clutch. the problem is still not fixed. i haven't even been able to talk to the mechanic personally, but the lady at the service desk said "it's really thrown him for a loop. it definitely seems to be something with your transmission, but diagnostics says nothing is wrong with the car". this is going to kill someone. period. it could've killed my boyfriend, my friend, my unborn baby and myself. i'm am furious with ford. i have read hundreds of complaints from other people have the same problem with the same car. how has this not been recalled???
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, the vehicle came to a complete stop without warning. the contact mentioned that the engine was running but the vehicle would not move. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed. the diagnoses was unknown. the vehicle was repaired but the remedy failed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.
Rear passenger power window suddenly quit, needed manual assist to close. two days later tried to start manual transmission with only loud clicks, power to lights surged with each click, headlights were not dim, battery good. engine would not crank, mileage odometer kept changing going up and down on miles, dash would go blank then come back on. needed to be towed to shop.
There were two incidents where car lost all power while travelling at 35 and 50 mph, the check engine light came on, the transmission dashboard indicator flashed from p to d back and forth. when restarting and idling, the engine shuddered. after the first incident (5/29), ford dealership reprogrammed the transmission control module. after the second incident (6/13), two weeks later, the dealership replaced the clutch and the transmission control module (tcm).
While parked with the vehicle running (about 30 minutes in 87 degree weather with the ac on), the transmission felt like it tried to go into drive and rocked forward slightly. i looked at the dash and the check engine light came on. i tested the vehicle and it seemed road worthy enough to try and get home. when driving home and stopped at a stop light, the car's display for park, neutral, reverse, drive, started quickly flashing between drive and park. i could not accelerate the vehicle while this was going on. i placed the vehicle in park, and then met fairly heavy resistance putting it back into drive. after a few seconds of flashing between drive and park, it stopped and i was able to drive again. the same thing happened a few minutes later while i was about to turn into the ford dealership. this time i tried turning off the vehicle to see if that would remedy the issue. i was unable to start the vehicle for a minute or two after because it was acting as if i was in drive (or the fast park / drive flutter) and trying to start it. it's been two days, yet i haven't heard back from the dealership on what this problem is. i did receive a recall notice that spells out the exact symptoms that i had, yet the mechanic has twice said it is very unlikely that the recall part, the tcm or transmission control module (which is back ordered six weeks), is the actual problem.
As i was leaving work pulling out of the road i stepped on the gas and the car stalled. making multiple vehicles come to a screeching stop almost causes multiple wrecks. this was the first time. other times i was in traffic passing people or just driving down the road and the car started to shake and would stall not accelerating. last of all my car would not start at least 3 times in one week due to code p2837 and p2832
I was leaving work and unlocked my car with my remote key in order to get in. i had been to panera bread around 3:00pm for lunch and everything was fine so i got in the drivers side and started to leave the parking lot. as soon as i started (turned right) onto the highway, i heard wind from the back (louder than usual) and my door was flapping open! i was glad a car didn't dive by and rip off my door! i pulled off (while holding the door backwards awkwardly and unsafely) into the target parking lot. i tried to shut the door but it just bounced back, i tired to hold shut and lock it but it wouldn't lock. the latch was broken or not functioning. i had to buy painters tape to make sure my door didn't fly open on the way home. i took to ford and they said it was $400 to fix. i told them that this was probably going to be like the transmission, where i complained twice about it, they said it was normal, and then they recalled it 2 years later, so i just made sure i had a receipt of my visit. i hope the rest of my doors don't fly open too. *tr
Got my car new 2012 it is a 2011 had service work mostly oil change tire rotation ect in 12-31-14 had to take it in sounded like it was flying apart when you drive jerked when you tried to take off felt like you were driving on rocky road speed bumps they installed seals for leak clean clutch and perf test drive upload shudder to hotline for clutch appv installed new clutch and seals/repro pcm/tcm and perf trans adaptive relearn perf test drive vec hotline appv paaxr this done ok for a bit took back in oct 2015 same problem jerking and sounds like it falling apart also had recall on door lock went back to get it i am very unhappy with car still have the problem they have to order parts as of today nov 6 2015 had to be towed wont even crank and wont come out of gear dont buy one not sure what can be done but i feel like they should have to buy car back thats a lot of money and its hardley over the 36 000 miles. not a happy buyer the dealership has been very nice but says that they dont know how to fix the problem but the makers wont tell you that so sorry car ford buy them back .
For approx. 2 months, my car will not always start. i would have to crank it a few times before it would turn over. replaced the battery and it still happened. one night, stopped at the store for a few minutes. got in the car and it wouldn't start. left for an hour, got back in and it started. dropped it off at the ford dealer and they replaced the starter. the next day went to the p.o., got back in and it wouldn't start again. waited 1/2 hour and it started. drove right back to the dealer and they replaced the tcm. (transmission control module). that was 12/5. i am hoping this does the trick. have read about 2011 fiesta transmissions problems and hope i have no more problems. *tr
When vehicle is in motion the hood and door ajar warning lights will flash and beep during random intervals. after being parked for at least five minutes, either the caution lights or alarm will go off. these will eventually turn off without any action. battery has been replaced and electrical circuit passed at a local ford dealership.
Issues with the transmission since i bought the car sputters dies wont start shifts into neutral on its own dangerous car its not safe ford knows and wont fix it. i have had the battery changed to fix the issue to no avail and the shift solenoid to no avail dealer cant fix it what can be done to make the car safe. *tr
Door lock assembly safety issue, door latch fails and door stays open: i went to close right rear door of fiesta. no problem warning until that moment. it would not stay shut. door lock assembly went bad. took to visalia ford in visalia, ca, appointment that afternoon. service writers said that was the 4-5th fiesta/ focus with this problem lately and that they were waiting 2-3 weeks on back order for the same parts for the previously known vehicles.this small town dealer was waiting 2-3 weeks on back order to fix this in 4-5 other fiesta/focus. i had to order and pay for parts so they would be ordered. upon my going home, after cinching up the door again, i called the number for ford west representative. i had "direct #" ([xxx]) from previous incident not related to this door. the phone was answered by a different person, who said she was in that position now and that i was in error calling her instead of ford customer service. her info: "[xxx] (866) 631-3788 [xxx]. i then tried to explain the situation about the 4-5 fiesta/focus waiting at this small dealership and this could not be happening just in visalia, ca. i asked about safety recalls by ford; she blew me off saying i was wrong. i told her to call visalia ford i gave her their #. her concession was that she would try to expedite the parts to visalia ford, and call me a week later, on the next tuesday (9/30/14), to check on progress. she never called again. i received call that parts were in on 9/26/14, had the repair done on 9/29/14, which was the next day service department was open. the concern i have on this problem is that some child or other back seat rider who is not belted in is going to have the door open and fall out, i would guess this will happen to any of the doors. if i was driving and a door suddenly opened for no reason due to the latch failure, i may freak or swerve or worse. thanx information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My daughter was driving down a major interstate at 70 mph and when she slowed down for slower traffic and the car stopped. the motor shutoff and coasted to a stop (she said it jolted to a stop in about 20 feet). the traffic was very heavy so she tried to get to the shoulder but couldn't make it, she turned on her hazards and put the car in neutral and tried to restart (didn't restart) then put it into park to restart (didn't restart) so then tried to take it out of park to move the car (pushing to the shoulder) but because of the way the system is designed the car wouldn't come out of park. she even tried to release the transmission manually but because there was no power to the solenoids, it would not release and so left the car in the middle of the freeway and called the police and tow truck. i have had this car in multiple times for a flash upgrade but still does the stumbling and hesitation. this car has also had the water pump replaced as well as minor fit and finish *tr
My car has malfunctioned and been "repaired" three times. each time the car malfunctioned, the gas pedal stopped working and the car began to slow. the gear indicator light switched from d to p and back again, over and over. the check engine light started blinking and later turned solidly on. since it was just coasting, i had to pull over the car and in each case i was lucky enough to be in an area with a decent breakdown lane. at one point when the mechanics were pulling the vehicle into a bay, it started doing this and the reverse lights also started blinking. in addition, it jerked back into drive, jumping forward. thankfully no one was close to it. so far the repairs have included an ignition coil pack, spark plugs and wires, replacing two bolts and reprogramming, and replacing the transmission control module for a grand total of over $2,000. *tr
Fiesta went into neutral while moving. it would not return to 'drive' or reverse or 'low' until stopped ( in traffic ) , killed engine, and restarted. brake peddle felt 'locked' when re-starting. it ran ok until later in day when it failed to drive at all and was towed to dealer. failure was always when moving in traffic.
Ford knows that there is a problem with the transmission. they will not fix it. when the transmission shifts it shifts hard and losses the get up and go. *tr
on april 8, 2014, my 2011 ford fiesta was losing acceleration. as i was pressing on the gas and going about 45 mph, the acceleration slowed and eventually completely stopped. thank goodness i was not on the highway! also, the gear display was flashing fro p to d, over and over. i brought my car into cal worthington ford of anchorage on april 9, 2014 and explained everything. my car was ready for pick up on april 11, 2014. they reprogrammed or replaced the electrical components dealing with the transmission. that is what i was told but i never received any paperwork or a detailed explanation on the repairs. on april 14, 2014 my car experienced the same symptoms as on april 8. the car could not accelerate and stalled in traffic. i videotaped all of it. i can email it to you, if you would like. the gear display was flashing again from d to p over and over. i brought my car back to cal worthington on april 15, 2014. they got me a rental car until 05/09/14, then i was moved to one of their loaner cars. on 05/12/14, my car was ready again. supposedly they replaced the clutch. on may 13, 2014, the next day, the same thing happened again! the acceleration slowed and the gear display was switching from d, p, r, l, over and over. i brought the car back to cal worthington on may 14, 2014 and i had another loaner car. they had my car until may 21, 2014. the next morning, the engine stopped at the stop sign, which is about 100 feet away from my house. my car would not start, the gear display was flashing d, p, r, l, over and over while the car was making a humming sound. we had to push my car back to my drive way and have it towed back to cal worthington ford. *tr
I had just started accelerating after stopping at a street light. my car began shifting back and forth as i pressed on the accelerator. i noticed my engine was running but my car wasn't moving. it seemed as though the power was there but it wasn't going to the wheels. my car was struggling to do what it was supposed to do. my car jumped and shifted back and forth trying to move. finally it caught up with the problem and moved a little. i was able to let it roll downhill far enough for me to get out of the road into safety. later when on the side of the road, i turned on my engine and it worked. i put my car into reverse and moved it back. when i put my car into drive the gear lever moved but the gear did not shift into drive. i pressed on the accelerator but my car didn't move at all. i did hear the engine revving up but the car didn't move. i put my car in neutral and was able to roll it forwards. *tr
Just about a month ago, after being in the car about an hour, we started getting a static pop on the factory stereo system. it would interrupt whatever was on momentarily and would continue even if you switched sources. most annoyingly, the static pop stays even after shutting the car off. it worries me that this is something that is precursor to some sort of general electronic failure, but with the car out of warranty, my hands are tied. half hour drives are not yet a problem. it happens after an hour or so, and even if you turn the stereo off, it just continues to pop. there is a 6 page thread on the problem here, (and i'm sure many other places of the web): http://www.fiestafaction.com/forums/threads/42105-radio-cutting-out-intermittently-with-popping-sound/page6?highlight=static in other words, i am not alone with this problem. the consumer stated one day in late october, the vehicle suddenly stalled while on his way to work. he was able to steer the vehicle off to the side of the road. after waiting a few minutes, he decided to try and start the vehicle, and it started as if nothing happened. the consumer continued to drive for another week with no stalling problems. however, he continued to experience problems with the stereo. one evening, the consumer discovered he had no headlights. he took the vehicle to a service station where the owner showed him the fuses were badly corroded and they could not be removed in one piece. the engine compartment fuse box appeared as if there had been a flood. updated 05/12/16.*jb
