Problems with 2015 Ford F-150 SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2015 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 49 948 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2015 Ford F-150

11jun2019 0600 - pulling into parking space at gas station and warning light comes on for low brake fluid. brakes still operating normally at this point. i leave the gas station and drive approximately a mile to the closest store to purchase brake fluid, presuming only a top off is required. by the time i get to the store, braking has diminished by 90%. i have the truck towed to the closest ford dealership, where they diagnose the problem as failure in brake master cylinder, with brake fluid leaking into brake booster, resulting in total loss of braking.

While driving a low brake fluid warning popped up on my display. i was one block from home. i noticed nothing wrong with the vehicle. i read my drivers manual. it said to check the fluid brake levels. if the levels were not between the minimum and maximum range call your dealer for service. i made an appointment. however when i got back in my vehicle and backed out of my garage to drive to the dealer the brakes went straight to the floor and i was unable to stop without slamming on my parking brake. scared me to death. no one was hurt luckily. i had no warning of total brake failure other than a warning light moments before indicating low brake fluid levels. the vehicle was towed to the dealership. they offered to repair the vehicle and offered no information about this frequency or spontaneous dangerous potential with the vehicle. i am furious. it could've killed me or my family or others. i will sell the vehicle as soon as it is repaired and i can do so. these vehicles are not safe to be on the road in my opinion.

Driving on expressway brake fluid light went on when i got off on the exit ramp i went to hit the brakes and the brake peddle went to the floor and i didn't have any brakes. i was able to eventually get the truck to stop but i had to downshift and running off the pavement. called tow truck had trucked towed to webb ford highland, in.

Upon braking when entering the florida i-275 on ramp, my brake pedal went all the way to the floor accompanied by a "low brake fluid" dash warning. my braking capacity was severely affected and emergency braking would not have been an option. i was able to exit immediately and pull over to investigate. my brake reservoir was nearly empty and no sign of leaks beneath the vehicle. i drove very slowly (stupid idea) to my ford dealership and explained my issue. due to me extended warranty, i was able to rent a vehicle and leave mine. tech called next day and informed me brake master cylinder was defective as well as the brake booster. he informed me it "is covered under warranty". i have news for them. the hundred dollar co pay is going to be an "issue"... my truck is the 6cyl. 3.6 liter eco boost twin turbo. very discouraged ford is not recalling this issue and pray someone is not seriously hurt or killed as a result of their irresponsibility.

I own a 2015 f150 with the 3.5l motor and 47,000 miles. this morning the " low brake fluid " light came on then within minutes i started experiencing low/spongy brake pedal. i pull over and check the master cylinder, the fluid level was very low. i add 2 containers ( 24 fl. oz. ) of brake fluid to refill master cylinder and drove about 3 miles when the brake malfunction light return along with low/spongy brake pedal. i called ford roadside for a tow. there was no visible fluid leak at the master cylinder area or at the 4 wheels. however i believe that this is a major leak because that fluid did not take long to leak out ( 3 miles and about 10 minutes )

Truck was 40 months old with 33,000 miles. no history of brake issues or brake warning lights. brake fluid low warning light came on while in motion about 1 mile from starting point. within a few minutes and 1-2 miles of continued driving the brakes completely failed. brake pedal went to floor with no braking or brake fluid pressure. truck towed to dealership with diagnosis of master cylinder rear seal leaking fluid into brake booster. this was a sudden and total failure of the braking system. hundreds of thousands of 2013 f150s were recalled for similar master cylinder failures. this is a serious safety hazard to everyone on the road. my family no longer feels safe in this truck. this sort of failure is unacceptable given current technology and engineering. poor design, poor engineering, poor quality control. this unacceptable failure endangers people and ford should be forced to recall this faulty component.

After entering the highway and maintaining a speed of approximately 65 mph, the brake pedal suddenly lost function and was able to be pushed all the way back with no effectiveness. no alarms or safety chimes alerted the failure. this was frightening due to our whole family being present and the speed of which we were traveling at the point of failure. we were able to safely coast onto the shoulder and be towed to the nearest dealership. the mechanics could not recreate the failure and replaced the master cylinder in hopes that this will correct the problem. i am still unsure if the vehicle has had the issue corrected permanently.

On morning of 5/25/19, i was traveling in kentucky about 180 miles from home, when i received a low brake fluid message. the brake fluid tank was about 1/2 full. i was in town and went ahead and picked up a bottle of recommended fluid and added a bit more, and error light went out. brake pressure seemed good at that time. a few miles down the road i lost all brake pressure. the pedal went to the floor, no brake at all. i was on a two lane road and let the truck coast until i could pull it off the side of highway. i checked the brake fluid level again and tank was totally empty. i called a tow truck and had it towed to closest ford dealership. i had to catch a ride to pick up a rental to drive home. dealership found master cylinder leaking into brake booster. they replaced both brake master cylinder and booster. they checked for recalls on this issue but this year and model truck is not included in any recalls. we picked up the repaired truck on 5/31. we were about two miles down the road after picking up, and the check engine light came on. we turned around and took truck back to dealership. they checked error code and turned off message. we were about 80 miles down road when check engine light came on again. we drove about 100 miles to home and called our local ford dealership. they found take fluid was clogging the vac supply and the manifold intake. they had to remove the manifold intake to clean all the brake fluid out of the vaccine hoses. final repair was on june 7. both repairs totaled $1337.15, and a car rental and an extra night's hotel stay. all the financial charges seem minor compared to the scare we had on a narrow two lane highway with no brakes. we feel blessed we were able to safely pull car off the road. this model truck should be included in fords brake recall before someone has a major accident.

Driving about 30mph when low brake fluid light came on dashboard. when i pulled over brake pedal went to the floor and i lost all my brakes had to have brake master cylinder and vacuum pump replaced also brake fluid got into the fuel system and contaminated that

While driving i received a warning light that my brake fluid was low. went to stop and the pedal went to the floor. i added brake fluid and the same thing happened again, plus it started to push white smoke out of the tail pipes from the brake fluid entering the engine through the vacuum system from the power booster. there is definitely something wrong with the master cylinders in these vehicles and hope you are able to conclude your investigation into this issue and get a recall in process so that i may be reimbursed for the repair.

Driving down the road, the low brake fluid light came on, the first time i had to stop, i had no brakes. pedal went down to the floor. just missed hitting the car in front of me. there was no warning from the time the light came on and having no brakes. it was the first depression of the pedal following the light. i was on thomasville road in tallahassee at 6:30 in the morning, light traffic, four lane road, 45mph. firestone is telling me that repairs will cost $2,500+. truck has 60,000 miles, needs new master cylinder, booster, front calipers because the left was locking up, new front rotors, new rear rotors and read pads.

Driving home brake light low fluid alarm comes on. worried i go to apply the brakes and the petal goes to the floor. i am traveling eastbound on a freeway (summerlin parkway) down a hill. i start to panic a little bit. lucky for me traffic was light and through a combination of coasting and brake i manage to slow down and get to the side of the road. i check the brake fluid reservoir and it is low. i lump the truck to the next exit and stop at o'reilly auto parts. i by a quart of brake fluid and put it into the car. brakes are back and light goes out. i start driving home and 4 miles dow. the road the low brake light fluid light comes back on. i stop off my exit to my house and buy more brake fluid from autozone. light goes out again and i limp the truck home. today i had it towed to team ford dealership to have it looked at.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving, the brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and filled the brake fluid reservoir. while driving 60 mph, the brake fluid warning indicator illuminated again. the vehicle was taken to rusty wallace ford (located at 134 sharon dr, dandridge, tn 37725, (423) 623-6138) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. the vehicle was unable to be safely driven due to the failure. ford lincoln of franklin (615-794-4585, 1129 murfreesboro rd, franklin, tn 37064) diagnosed that the brake booster, seals, and master cylinder needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired because it exceeded the three year warranty. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 34,250.

Master cylinder leaking into brake booster. only warning is low brake fluid light. known issue on 13, 14 ecoboost models. just driving down the interstate and low brake fluid level warning came on . pulled over and put more fluid in master cylinder. by the time we got to the end of parking lot needed fluid again. took to ford dealer where they said needed new master cylinder and brake booster replaced. parts and labor over $900. this should not be a normal failure for a truck that has less than 62000 miles on it. thankfully we did not have a more catastrophic situation.

While on a road trip from the sf bay area to las vegas and having been there just one day, the valet at ceasar's palace drove my truck to the front entrance of the hotel/casino where many people and vehicles were coming and going. when i got in my truck, the brake warning/failure lights were brightly lit and the brake pedal went mushy right to the floor. when i inspected the brake fluid reservoir, it was near empty (see attached photo). when i looked beneath the vehicle, there was no indication of a leak and no indication of a leak in the engine compartment. the truck mileage was around 62k and had the 60k service recently which included new front rotors and pads installed by a ford dealer in the sf bay area. for the brake failure, i had the truck repaired at the ford dealer in las vegas. they reported that brake fluid leaked from the hydraulic cylinder secondary seal into the brake booster. both the hydraulic cylinder and brake booster required replacement at a cost of nearly $1400.00! fortunately, i wasn't driving when the brake failure occurred. there were no accidents or injuries. thank god.

While driving my kids to school i was stopped at a red light when the low brake fluid light came on. the traffic light turned green and as i was driving i went to apply the brakes and the pedal went completely to the floor. i had to shift the car into neutral and use the emergency brake to assist me in stopping the vehicle. i stopped 2 feet short of crashing into a vehicle in front of me. i pulled over and opened the hood. the brake fluid reservoir was almost empty. i stopped at a near by midas and was told that there was a massive leak from the master cylinder to the brake booster (booster was completely filled with brake fluid). i have seen that there is a recall for 2013-2014 f150s that are having the same issue. i can assure you that this problem is affecting the 2015s also. there was no warning other than the light coming on and i immediately lost almost complete braking power to the vehicle. this is a serious concern and a frightening one as it happens with children inside the vehicle.

Sudden brake failure after a brake fluid low level caution. this happened after approximately 5 minutes while on the highway at 65 mph. luckily i didn't crash into anything and was able to stop with remaining brake pressure. the dealership said it was caused by a failed master brake cylinder and caused the brake pump to fail. total repair cist $975. this is totally unacceptable on this vehicle. luckily i didn't crash.

Tl* the contact owned a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated while driving at 55 mph and starting to fall asleep behind the wheel, the vehicle veered to the left to avoid crashing into a tree but when the brake pedal was pressed it failed to stop the vehicle. as a result, the contact crashed into a tree. the air bags did not deploy. the contact (driver) sustained chest, head, and a fractured sternum injuries when he hit the steering wheel and his girlfriend (front passenger) sustained a back injuries. both injuries requested medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was not drivable. the vehicle was towed via flatbed to impound lot. the vehicle was destroyed. the vehicle was not diagnosed. a dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was not been informed of failure. the failure mileage was 20,000. *tt *jb consumer stated i'm very surprised to hear that travelers insurance company just towed and destroyed the vehicle when i expressly told them that the airbags did not deploy and that the medical benefits were maxed out. i thought for sure that insurance companies dissected vehicles in such major accidents and being notified by the owner that the equipment was faulty that they did not do a post mortem. my girlfriend got a broken back in the injury, had to have surgery and will most likely be in pain for the rest of her life. i could not work or lift anything over 6 months until my sternum healed itself and had to live through pain while i healed. i still feel a small feeling in my chest.*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while the vehicle was in reverse, the brakes failed when depressed and the low brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to alan jay ford lincoln (3201 us hwy 27 s, sebring, fl 33870, (863) 385-0144) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and booster needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired on march 20, 2019. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 102,000. *dt *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned and traveled to the floorboard when the brake pedal was depressed. the contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was at the contact's home when the failure occurred. alan jay ford lincoln (3201 us hwy 27 s, sebring, fl 33870, (863) 385-0144) diagnosed that the master cylinder was leaking fluid into the brake booster. both the master cylinder and brake booster were replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 47,016. *tr

I was on the highway and the hill start assist/traction control lights started coming on. a few hundred miles later, more dash lights started flashing and then all dash lights went off and the truck lost all power. i could no longer accelerate. after a moment, it started working again. after a few more miles, it did it again, and this time when it powered down, the abs break system went on and created a terrible grinding noise and brought me to a stop on the side of the highway. i limped it on the side of the highway, trying to find an exit, and the truck repeatedly did the lights flashing/power down/breaks applied several more times at low speed. the nearest exit was about 10 miles, so i had to continue to do this for some time. once i was at an exit, i disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes. when i re-connected the battery and started the truck, everything seemed fine, but now the check engine light was on. i decided to just risk it and keep driving, so that i could get home. about 100 miles later it started doing the same thing again. i was close enough to home to get off the highway and take back roads home. it did it a few more times and then quit doing it. this was a very dangerous situation, as my truck basically stopped while i was on the highway going 70 mph, and could have caused a serious accident, and left me no option but to either be broken down on the side of the highway or drive at very low speeds on the shoulder. the ford dealer that i took the truck to told me that they can't replicate the issue and all diagnostics come back clean, so they are not able to fix anything. others online that have had the same/similar issue have said that ford said that it is a damaged throttle body that needs to be replaced, but the dealership that i went to did not suggest that as the cause.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all ability to brake. the foot pedal went down to the floor with no resistance or action on the vehicle. the parking brake also failed all ability to slow down or stop the vehicle. by some miracle i was able to get in the emergency lane and let the vehicle eventually slow down and come to a stop. the sudden loss of brakes happened while i was driving on a straight highway, with no obstacles of any type on the road and no evidence of damage to the vehicle. i have a video taken while waiting on the tow truck, showing the brake pedal going straight to the floor.

Catastrophic / complete brake failure will moving. brake peddle went to floor while exiting highway. seconds before applying brakes, "low brake fluid" warning came on. thankfully it was a long exit ramp and was able to stop vehicle with down shifting and emergency brake. very dangerous!!!!!! no prior indication of problem. inspected fluid and it was below minimum. vehicle had be serviced 2 weeks prior and all fluids full. added fluid and pumping brakes several time, fluid was empty again. had vehicle towed to dealer.

While driving straight on freeway at 75 mph, "brake fluid low" warning came on dashboard followed by complete loss of braking abilities. road conditions allowed time for vehicle to slow its velocity, followed by use of emergency brake to stop. vehicle was towed to dealership for inspection. this vehicle had no history of braking problems or issues.

Complete loss of brakes. loss of fluid. thankfully it happened when i was about to leave my house so i was parked in my drive. the brake pedal went straight to the floor. when i popped the hood and looked at master cylinder the fluid was almost gone.

On wednesday i had the oil changed at the dealership. after returning home i checked all fluid levels, including brake fluid. all okay. four days later when i got in the truck and started the engine. i got a warning light about the brakes. upon inspection the master cylinder was empty. i could not find any sign of a leak any where. i assume the master cylinder is leaking out the back into the booster. there was no sign of gradual loss of braking performance. the truck will be brought to the dealership tomorrow.

Driving at 65 mph on the highway went to stop for traffic and brake pedal went to the floor. warning light appeared and said brake fluid was low, brake light on dash board came on. added brake fluid and within 10 miles the same thing happen again. had to have the vechicle towed.

I own a 2015 ford f-150 pickup 4wd 4 door since new. has 49k miles. the brake light came on while traveling on a busy expressway i checked my brakes and had no pressure at all, the pedal went right to the floorboard i had no brakes a complete brake failure without warning! i managed to down shift and use the parking brake to stop. this is a very serious issue that need to be addressed, a complete brake system failure without warning should not happed to a well maintained 3 year old truck. please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. at the time of brake failure we were traveling at 55 mph on a busy ny expressway during rushhour. i took the truck to a local repair shop and have been told it's a failed master cylinder, he called ford to get a replacement part and the original replacement part is discontinued waiting on the replacement of that. i have learned that ford has a recall for this same issue on 2013 and 2014 f150 with the 3.5l ecoboost engine and has received complaints of same problem on the 2015,s. why has ford not issued a recall for the 2015 models! Driving at 20 mph on residential street, applied brakes, pedal went to floor. complete failure of brakes. simultaneous warning on low brake fluid and brake warning light. added fluid to reservoir. brakes failed again within a few minutes. no external evidence of fluid leak, but reservoir was again low. warning lights remained lit entire time

I was driving on the freeway on my way to the office this morning, as i approached heavy traffic travelling at 75 mph. i applied the brakes and my brake pedal went completely to the floor. the truck had complete and total brake failure. i was fortunate enough to avoid an accident by going down the grass in between the 2 opposing lanes of traffic.

I was driving vehicle on hwy at 55mph pulling a 20 foot pontoon boat. brake light came on with audible warning. i came to the next stop sign and the brake pedal went nearly to the floor with severe diminished braking ability. i limped the truck to a gas station a mile down the road where i checked the brake fluid reservoir which had a 1/2 inch of fluid left in it. i put 12 oz. of brake fluid in the reservoir. i got under the truck and checked the master cylinder and brake lines from the master cylinder to the back of the truck. i located no leaks whatsoever in the system. i continued another approximate 20 miles and the warning light came on again at which time i stopped again and added 48oz total of additional brake fluid however it disappeared with no leak anywhere. i had to have the truck towed 190 miles home as i was on a family vacation. the truck was towed directly to the dealership and will arrive on monday august, 20 2018.

A "low brake fluid" warning appeared in the center of the instrument cluster. shortly thereafter, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor when i needed to slow down to turn at an intersection. the resolution was to replace the master cylinder and the brake booster. this is a known issue by ford, yet there has been no recall for the 2015 f-150 trucks with this problem.

Brakes completely failed while trying to stop from 35 mph at a stop sign entered highway 260 in overgaard az - crossed the highway applying full pressure on brake pedal and using parking brake - came to a stop and checked the fluid level all brake fluid was gone, added 12 oz of dot 4 fluid and backed the truck up and parked in a another place to check for leaks - checked the level and all fluid was gone again. no sign of leakage. dealer looked at the vehicle on 8/9 and determined that the brake fluid was leaking from the master cylinder into the brake booster.

My wife started driving the vehicle and a short time later a "brake fluid low" warning came on. she applied the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor and braking action was severely compromised. in order to get the vehicle off the road to a safe place, she had to continue to drive the vehicle a short distance, in order to bring the vehicle to a stop once in a parking lot she had to put the truck in tow haul mode (engine braking) and use the emergency/parking brake. we had the vehicle towed to a local service shop. they diagnosed the issue as a master cylinder leak into the booster. we then had the vehicle towed to dch ford of thousand oaks and they diagnosed the issue the same and said the master cylinder and booster need to be replaced. vehicle has less the 50k miles and is the v6 with ecoboost. 2013 and 2014 models are apparently under active recall for same issue. 2015 (our year) is under recall query/investigation # rq16001

While driving my 2015 ford f-150 ecoboost at 45 mph on a city street i had a low break fluid warning light come on. i stopped at a stop light and all seemed fine.i proceeded 2 blocks to find somewhere safe to check the brake fluid level. when i tried to stop at the next stop light i had no brakes at all!!! i went through the red light intersection with my foot to the floor on the brakes. with luck, i did not hit another vehicle. i coasted slow enough to use my parking brake (e-brake) to make a full stop. i open the hood and noticed that the brake fluid reservoir was almost completely empty. after carefully examining all of the brake lines ,fittings, calipers, master cylinder and the engine compartment no brake fluid was found leaking anywhere. i had the 2015 ford f-150 ecoboost towed to a dealership. also about a week ago during a long road trip i noticed a lot of wind noise coming from the drivers door. i was on an interstate going about 75 mph. i got off of the interstate and re-closed my door thinking i did not shut it hard enough. about 5 miles down the interstate driving about 75 mph i went over an approach (or a bump) to a bridge and the door dropped out of it's closed position and i could stick 4 fingers out between the door and door frame. i pull over at a safe area to exam the door and frame. i noticed that the door bolts (top and bottom) that hold the door hinge to the door had come loose and backed out about 4 turns. i tightened them and finished my trip. i notified the dealership so they can see why that had happened.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes failed and the brake pedal extended to the floorboard when attempting to stop the vehicle. the message "brake fluid low" later displayed on the instrument panel. upon inspection, it was discovered that the brake fluid reservoir was empty. after refilling the brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid, the brakes continued to malfunction. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (pearson ford, 10650 north michigan rd, zionsville, in, 317-873-3333) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 58,000. *tt updated 10/15/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 10 mph down a hill, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. the contact applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (phil long motor city, 1212 motor city dr., colorado springs, co 80905, (888)-701-7494) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster was faulty. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no action was taken. the failure mileage was 44,300.

On july 21, 2018 while driving home from lake ray roberts at 10:30 pm a low fluid level warning appeared on the console of my 2015 f-150 truck. the warning was shortly followed with total brake system failure. after further inspection the fluid from the brake master cylinder had drained into the brake booster. this resulted in total loss of hydraulic brakes and a requirement to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.

While on vacation at lake, the truck completely lost brakes. i dropped boat in water and parked in lot. upon returning from day of boating, i started truck and began driving down boat ramp. i hit the brakes to slow and make the u turn to back down to water and the brake pedal went fully to the floor and alarms and brake messages began flashing on dash. there was very little deceleration. luckily i was not moving too quickly and able to keep from hitting other people and vehicles on the ramp by turning crosswise on the ramp. certainly could have been much worse if brakes had failed while fully loaded up trailer, less maneuvering options or with more speed. upon checking the master cylinder was completely empty. there were no signs of leakage on any of brake lines or components. obtained fluid and filled reservoir completely and able to get back to campsite. however, two hours later the reservoir was empty again. finally determined fluid was leaking into brake booster and that is why no fluid leaks could be detected. the residual vacuum after engine is shut off sucks out all the fluid while vehicle is parked. apparently the engine burns brake fluid fairly cleanly as the exhaust did not smoke excessively on startup. removed vacuum line from booster and refilled reservoir so that it could be driven to dealership with non-boost assisted brakes. dealership verified the master cylinder was indeed leaking into booster and replaced master and booster at a cost of $650. they said that although previous years that had this exact problem were covered mine was outside of the covered vins and not covered.

While trying to stop at a busy intersection my brakes completely failed. seconds later i noticed a brake fluid warning light. upon investigation, brake fluid was very low. added more fluid to correct the issue, only to be in the same situation a few miles down the road. ford customer service has been very unhelpful. parts agents hung up on me, and no guidance as to where i can find replacement parts. vehicle is currently parked and can't be driven until fixed. i bought aftermarket parts and have to miss days of work and pay for a rental. there is only 68k miles on the truck and 3 years old. ford knows about this and has not issued any recalls. i hope this is addressed before someone is seriously injured or dies. they are not willing to talk about it on their chat line.

Brakes went out while driving. brake fluid keeps disappearing. brake fluid has leaked into the intake and caused massive amounts of smoke from the exhaust, the master cylinder failed at only 42k miles.

I experienced total brake failure while driving. i was able to stop with the parking brake. i checked the brake fluid reservoir and found it empty. there was not a crash involved.

While towing a trailer at approximately 15 mph on a city street and slowing (braking), the front brakes on the f-150 ceased to work and the vehicle dash displayed a warning there was low brake fluid. fortunately there was no collision as this was not a panic stop situation, the rear brakes of the vehicle worked, and there were trailer brakes to stop the vehicle. upon inspection, the master brake cylinder had failed and caused the brake fluid to leak into the vacuum (brake) booster. this is the same failure outlined in nhtsa recall 16v345000 covering 2013 to 2014 f-150s. i believe this recall needs to be expanded to 2015 vehicles as well.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 55 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. the contact also stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. the contact was able to safely stop the vehicle by letting it coast to a stop. also, the brake fluid low warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to i-77 ford (3315 charleston rd, ripley, wv) where it was diagnosed that the sealant failed in the booster cylinder and both the master cylinder and booster cylinder needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000. *tt consumer stated since the brake failure on 7/10/18 and completed repairs on 7/17/18. also, since an i77 mechanic told me that i may lose the catalytic converters because the brake fluid went thru them, i traded the truck on 7/28/18. updated 10/15/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while the vehicle was engaged in park, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. in addition, the brake warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that brake fluid was added to the vehicle; however, the brake failure persisted. the vehicle was taken to j.c. lewis ford (9505 abercorn st, savannah, ga 31406, (912) 216-2918) where the master cylinder, booster vacuum valves, vacuum lines, and stop lamp switch were replaced. in addition, the brake system was flushed. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 54,989. *tt updated 10/15/18*jb

On the morning of july 6, 2018, while driving from swan valley, id to idaho falls, id i experienced complete brake failure. the warning light indicated low brake failure. i thought that i needed to add brake fluid and had no idea that i did not have any brakes. when i tried to slow down, the brake petal went to the floorboard. i was shocked at that time. i put the gear shift into m and downshifted from about 60 mph to a safer speed. i had to drive 30 miles to the nearest dealership for diagnosis and repair. i had to use the emergency brake at least 5 or 6 times to slow the vehicle to a stop. most of the 30 miles was on a two lane us highway 26. in order to deal with less stop and go situations, i drove on highway 49 to us 20 to complete by drive to broadway ford on broadway in idaho falls. i was able to carefully drive to the dealership and they said they know of similar failures and it involved the master cylinder and a booster. the representative said that their was a recall on the 2013 and 2014 models, but not on the 2015 as of yet. from a personal note if my wife had been driving the truck i am confident their would have been an accident

Got the brake fluid warning and then within 5 minutes the brakes were gone, the pedal went straight to the floor while driving. complete loss of braking thereafter need to be towed to dealer.

While driving on a city street, brake level low light illuminated followed by total loss brakes when attempting to stop. checked master cylinder and it was empty. added fluid to the full line and it continued to drain away. problem was fluid leaking into the brake booster. a similar problem was experienced in the 2013-2014 f150 which resulted in a recall by ford. problem occurred today (the fourth of july). all repair shops were closed so no repair cist are available yet.

Driving vehicle on country roads at approximately 30mph, a low brake fluid warning was observed. stopped vehicle and checked, fluid was near min fill line in reservoir. turned around to return home and within less than 1 mile all brake function ceased and upon coasting to stop, brake fluid reservoir was checked again and found empty. checked under vehicle and at each brake cylinder, found no indication of leaking. had truck towed to dealer (timber ford, hayward wi). they confirmed the issue was an internal leak of brake fluid in the master cylinder. replaced brake master cyclinder, brake booster and brake vacuum pump assembly for $1000.76 vehicle had 59,663 miles at the time of service. i was able to manage my way back home using downshifting and emergency braking, however, this condition would have been very dangerous if i would have made it another mile further and been on the highway at high speed and more traffic.
