Problems with 2013 Ford F-150 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On average, the 2013 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and its various aspects after 55 579 miles.

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2013 Ford F-150

I recently purchased this vehicle used less than a week ago. i have only driven it for about 75 miles. while driving down a busy street at 45 miles an hour the truck down shifted to first gear and simultaneously the speedometer stopped working. i kept control of the vehicle but if a vehicle would have been following closely it is possible if not likely to have rear ended me. i checked the vin and it states no open recalls. evidently the vehicle was serviced for one of the past recalls which clearly describes this same event as an issue. i will contact the dealership grey daniels ford in brandon ms where it was purchased for inspection.

Unexpectedly downshifting into first gear while in motion, speed ometer and mileage goes to zero, rpms starts to run high, and the tool light on the dash board comes on, in city streets and on highway driving. i have to stop and shut down the vehicle and wait a few minutes. when i start up the vehicle and put it in drive gear the transmission jerks.

Truck being driven apx 55 mph and no change from me truck has sudden slowdown with speedometer drop to 40s then recovers as truck speeds up on it's own. same day as trying to park, in drive, pressing on gas engine revs but does not move. today (7 days later) accelerating from stop transmission sticks in low gear. has had powertrain recall applied.

Engine looses all power yet is still running very poorly. engine sputters and will not respond to throttle. dashboard display shows a wrench. problem occurs without any warning. engine will usually restart after approximately 30 seconds and run normaly until next failure. problem may occur multiple times in a day. my auto diagnostic tool gives p2111 code which indicates a throttle body problem. problem has occured when stopped or moving at any speed. check engine light may or may not come on ( not consistent). i contacted ford motor co. customer service department concerning this issue after reading about a "customer satisfaction program" 13n03 relating to this issue in which ford offers to replace the faulty part at no charge as an extended warranty in lieu of a factory recall according to the nhtsa. i was told that they (ford) may not help with this issue. i was told they would have to review my complaint and would get back to me.

Upon trying to pass or accelerate my truck ,it loss power and boggle down check engine lights are on. leaving my house three blocks away from my distanation

Truck went into limp mode on me and lost power when wrench light came on. almost had me cause an accident because of speed dropped instantly.

On 10 aug 2019 i took my ford in for transmission recall, reprogramming to prevent uncontrolled downshifting. i had never had had any problems with downshifting prior to this date. once recall was done within a week my truck drastically downshifted twice before taking it back to the dealer who performed the recall. they said there was no problem with my truck and told me my wheels locking was not a sign of downshifting. now i continue to have downshifting issues and also am throwing a p0720 code. i just know that the downshifting broke the leadframe and i looking at a huge bill. now vehicle goes into limp mode where i have to stop and restart my car to get speedometer to show.

When entering onto the interstate i felt the truck was not getting up to speed. i then noticed on my dashboard a big wrench. i felt my truck continue to not gain speed even though i was stepping on the gas.the screen then went black and and when the dashboard came back on i had nothing showing. no mph ,fuel economy, etc and i was stuck in 5th gear.i could not increase speed but only decrease if i stepped on the break.i don't know how fast i was going but it was not fast at all since everyone was passing me(maybe 40 mph).i also noticed my airbag light was on. i had to pull over on the interstate and restart my truck.once i did that everything came back on and worked for the rest of the ride. i was recently part of a ford recall but had that fixed.i had the automatic downshifting happen to me 3 times before the first recall was in place. i just got a letter last week that they need to redo the recall, i had the downshifting happen to me and this was not it. this is a entirely different safety issue that is making me afraid to drive my own truck since most of my time is on the interstate. photos are attached of what was happening to me on the interstate.

Struggling gear to gear doing acceleration and spontaneously downshifting periodically on its own. i have participated in two recalls dealing with the unexpected downshifting but no change to the issue i am still having the same problems the last recall was 7/12/2019. it seems like to use recalls are not fixing the issue what can i do? i will kindly appreciate some type of feedback to steer me in the right direction for i am locked into financial responsibilities with this vehicle at the same time i fear for my safety and others around me?

1. while driving at highway speeds (around 70 mph) the vehicle suddenly down-shifted into 2nd gear. the rear tires briefly locked up, but control of the vehicle was managed. 2. while driving, both in town and on the highway, the vehicle would downshift from 6th gear to 5th. the vehicle would then not shift below 3rd gear when brought to a stop. turning the vehicle off and on again would reset the problem. the maintenance light and airbag light illuminated. the speedometer went to 0. the odometer and other digital readings in the center cluster on the dash showed all dashes. after several of these events, the check engine light also illuminated. 3. after one of the events described in 2 above, the vehicle was stopped, shifted into reverse, and then returned to drive. the vehicle would not move and acted as though it was in neutral. shutting the vehicle off and on again corrected the problem. the local ford dealership is aware of the problem and has scheduled an appointment for a diagnosis. ford safety recall notice 19s07 was performed in march 2019. ford safety recall notice 19s19 was performed in july 2019, after the first event, but did not correct the issue.

When driving i lose power and the wrench comes on the dash also check engine light comes on when i take it read code it reads throttle stuck p2112 code it has happened while in city streets and on highway

2013 ford f-150. consumer writes in regards to output speed sensor safety recall. *ld the consumer stated the manufacturer had not notified the dealer of the recall; therefore, the recall was unable to be completed. *js

My 2013 ford unexpectedly downshift into first gear while the vehicle was in motion. i was traveling 40-45 mph. no accident or injuries. this also happened last yea, i was unaware of a recall or issue. i am worried about transmission damage, the current recall doesn't cover transmission service or inspection if you experiences this downshift. until the recall software is resolved i will not drive my truck on the highway or high speeds as i'm worried it will happen again.

I received my ford recall notice on the need to reprogram power train module on or about april 1st 2019. my first instance of my 2013 f150 stx supercab, going into sudden downshift mode and then limp mode (blue wrench signal) occurred around april 12, 2019. i was driving at about 30 miles an hour on a city street when my truck when the truck downshifted by itself and the blue wrench light appeared. my truck went into limp mode and i was unable to drive. after pulling over to the side of the street, i turned off my truck, waited a few minutes and then the issue resolved itself. i took my vehicle into the ford dealership on april 18, 2019 where recall 19s07 6r80 (reprogram power train module) work was completed. on may 17, 2019, while driving about 30 miles an hour on a city street (without notice or cause) my truck again went into downshift mode, limp mode and the blue wrench light came on. same as the first instance, i pulled over to the side of the street, turned off my truck, waited a few minutes and when i turned on the truck again the issue was resolved. it was clear that this issue was electrical and no mechanical and the original recall work completed by the dealership did not resolve the issue. on 05/19/2019, i again took my truck to the ford dealership where this time the module lead frame was replaced after code p0722 was identified. i want the record to reflect that the first recall, reprogramming of the power train module did not work, and left me at risk of a second downshifting incident occurring. my truck had a second incident and after returning to the dealership a second time the leadframe was replaced. i also want to note that the dealership's data that the original recall work was completed on 04/26/2019 is inaccurate. the original recall work was performed by the dealership on 04/18/2019.

The truck will sometimes just refuse to go and will jump a lot and other times all of a sudden the check engine light will come and the speedometer will stop working and this can make the truck jump a lot. had truck put on computer and it comes up with speed sensor code.

I was driving in freeway with speed of 60 to 65 miles. all sudden car makes big noise, seems like something hit but there is nothing and loose power and gear change to 1. but rpm goes all the way to 7000 rpm. very danger to drive. soon i pull over and put it on park, and shut off the engine, then turn back on the car, it drives good.

Vehicle keeps dow shifting and up shifting have called dealer numerous of times with no information of when it will be fixed and i have came close to being in an accident as well dealership will not give out a loaner vehicle either and i need this fixed now it a danger to me and other people on the road

Ford f-150 recall: the vehicle was in motion while driving on the highway at 60-65 miles per hour, the rear tires locked momentarily then release as the vehicle slowed but never loss power. it was raining and the windshield wipers intermittently changed speeds...faster/slower/faster. the day before the speedometer stopped working while the vehicle was in motion. may all be related to the oss.

2013 ford f-150 ecoboost with 62000 miles. currently giving cel code p0016. this is the timing chain stretch issue. makes it difficult to accelerate to pass a vehicle. should not have this issue with 62k miles. now that i am 2k miles out of power train warranty it is not covered even though i had it to dealer for service and nothing was ever mentioned with this issue. i have had the rattle for some time.

The truck shifts into emergency mode while driving and i have to pull over and stop shut off vehicle and restart. while in idle the vehicle shakes. it is at the ford dealer in beatrice nebraska and they have stated that the electric throttle body needed replaced... 400$ repair. also, air conditioning compressor went out 1500.00 repair on a 2013 vehicle!

While driving the 2013 ford 150 ecoboost, it suddenly lost power, the wrench light came on.... tried accelerating but was not able to...had to find a way to move out of the street before something happened and have someone crash the back....horrible experience..after finding a place to park, turned the truck off...when turned it back on was working fine again while driving the 2013 ford f150 ecoboost. it suddently lost power, the wrench light came on, i tried to accelerate but was not able to. i had to pull over to the side of the road, turn off the truck and turn it back on. when i turned it back on it was working fine again. this has happened multiple times during the week. and ford is no help unless the check engine light comes on. it's is super unsafe to drive, yet ford says to keep driving the vehicle.

Ford recall number 19s07. 3.5 l engine. vehicle in motion. city street and highway speeds. problem. unintended downshift into first gear causing abrupt wheel speed reduction. no available remedy from ford motor company.

There is a recall for 2013 ford f150 's down shifting while driving. i contacted ford corporation and their explanation is. a fix for the issue will not be ready until the second quarter.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted, but the failed recurred. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was later taken to serramonte ford (located at 999 serramonte blvd, colma, ca 94014, (855) 314-5418). the contact presented the recall notification to the dealer and was informed that the technician was not available and would return in six months. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

As i am driving in motion on highway or street the truck will down shift by its self causing me to skid to a stop, as i try to accerlearate it will not upshift, for a minute or two. this has happened many times! causing many near crash conditions.

I have stopped driving my 2013 ford f150 and can't believe they have not been pulled of the road. they are unsafe to everyone around them. my vehicle has downshifted on 6 occasions ranging from 6th gear and 4th gear down to 1st gear. my vehicle locked up rear wheels until i was able to get down to 5mph. had to pull off the road and turn off vehicle and it worked again. i am disappointed in ford and nhtsa for allowing this to happen. my ford f150 has sat in my driveway for over a month now. what does it going to take to have this fix?

Car started to rust quick had air bubles built up on vehical went to the nearest dealer to get that done they told me they cant do anything about it when i bought the car and the speed sensor they dont want to fix it for dealer is located on rt 30 in plainfield.and my feul meater on the dasboard is inacurate

On 4/2/19 while driving at approx. 50 mph, all at once, the speedometer dropped to 0, air bag light came on, and the truck started running an idling rough. when we got to our destination we were planning on calling on someone to pick us up. we started the truck to move it out of the way, and it was back to normal. we drove home no problems. i drove the truck to work the very next day, 10 minutes away, ran errands, about 30 minutes driving, and went back to work. still no problems. as i was getting ready to leave work, i hadn't been driving but a few minutes, then the truck all of sudden downshifted to first gear. i almost lost control. i was up to about 45 mph at this point. the back end of the truck kept sliding until it finally slowed down. luckily i live in a small town with not a lot of traffic. i am not going to attempt to drive it again until out local dealership checks it out. i called the dealership and they have advised us to bring it there on monday april 8th, and leave it with them.

I have the recall nhtsa 19v-075 the procedure that ford says to preform did not fix the issue all it did was make sure the check engine light kicks on the transmission still will go too fist gear intermittently ford needs too fix this issue before someone gets hurt or even die's my personal vehicle did shift too first gear at 70 miles per hour on i79 on march 1st

Truck's output speed sensor and harness failed while moving through an intersection and downshifted the vehicle into low gear almost causing an accident. ford has a current recall on the software but not the sensor. prior year vehicles also had the same recall and ford replaced the sensor as customer satisfaction. see link: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/04/27/ford-motor-company-issues-three-safety-recalls-and-two-safety-co.html

While driving on the highway at a rate of 70-75 mph, i noticed by speedometer twitch a few times. i focused on it while driving and noticed the truck downshift to 3rd gear from 6th, and the speedometer dropped to about 45mph on a dime. another instance i was driving home, and the truck decided to shift from 6th gear down to 1st, after which i quickly shifted into neutral and slowed to a stop on the shoulder. while driving on a dirt road about 40mph my truck then shifted from 5th to 3rd lurched and went back to 5th gear. an odd experience is when my truck, when in a parking lot shifted from 1st gear to 5th(???) i pulled over and placed the vehicle in the manual mode for shifting and drove a few miles. after which i received a wrench symbol and my all of my meters went into a dashed mode. i pulled over and turned off, then turned back on my truck and didn't have anymore issues. i took my truck into the ford dealership and they told me that it was an issue with the wiring in the transmission. we will see if that fixes the issue, however i got a recall notification in the mail for involuntary downshifting which make me think there is another underlying issues, other than the wiring.

While driving at 70mph noticed my truck had down shifted into 5th gear, i slowed to pull over and noted the airbag light was on, the wrench indicator and speedometer was at zero. my truck suddenly down shifted to 1st gear at approximately 25-30 mph. i was able to stop safely at the shoulder and turned the ignition off and restarted. my truck started normally. i went to ford huntington beach and described the situation. after evaluating dealer stated trans fluid full, poss lead frame damage and valves getting stuck. $1600! i informed the dealer of the pending recall for the transmission on this vehicle and was informed that it only covered a software upgrade. damage caused by a known fault should be covered by the manufacturer.

Ford f150 supercrew 5.0 v8 6 speed auto transmission. erratic shifting while driving. sometimes will stay in 5th gear at a stop wont shift down, sometimes when pulling out in 1st gear will not shift up. bounces back and forth between 1st gear and third or 5th while driving. shutting off vehicle and restarting sometimes solves issue but becoming more frequent, recall for reprogramming speed output sensor was performed with no resolution. appears to be the lead frame module issue that was recalled in 2011-2012 ford f150 but not recalled or extended warranty on 2013 models. very very dangerous, cannot drive this vehicle!

Widely reported- please read carefully! very similar to existing recall*, but not the same. potentially deadly. current recall does not address the sudden up-shifts mentioned here. 2013 ford f-150 mfg defect: molded leadframe assy in 6r80 transmission symptoms: intermittent loss of speed signal causes sudden/unexpected slamming upshift from 1st gear to 5th when accelerating from a stop, causing a complete and unexpected loss of all acceleration. indications: 5th gear suddenly indicated on display, dashes replace numbers on speed/mileage related displays (mpg, odometer). speedometer may read 0, airbag symbol pops on, large orange wrench symbol may briefly appear. pressing on accelerator does not cause downshift. motor may stall. remains in 5th gear without some other corrective action. turning engine off and back on will reset the computer, and vehicle operates normally until next occurrence. dangers: this could be fatal when pulling out into oncoming traffic, both from the side (pulling out in front of oncoming traffic from side street) or from rear (sudden, unexpected loss of speed/ no brake lights). ford cannot fix this by re-programming the vehicle to ignore the faulty sensor any more than you can ignore an oncoming cement truck or train. repair is approximately $800. if not recalled, owners may try to live with the risks or trade to an unknowing person, endangering lives of others. *this defective part is also the root cause of ford recall #19s07, involving sudden violent down-shifts (not upshifts). ford is avoiding the problem by re-programming the ecu to ignore the intermittent speed signals, allowing the transmission to fail more gracefully, defects to be repaired at owner's expense. this approach will not work for the up-shift problem. the defective part should be immediately replaced at ford's expense to correct both problems.

Today my wife was driving my truck with our two kids down interstate i79 at 70 miles per hour and the truck shifted itself too first gear locked up the rear tires and about made them wreck. i had too leave my job to get them off the side of the road and drive my truck back too work this is not only a issue but it could get someone seriously hurt

Takata recall. i put my truck in drive and as soon as i get over 2-5 mph it shifts from 1st gear to 3rd. when this happens i loss the speedometer and my turn signals will not turn off. check engine light comes on with a big wrench in the center of my gauges. will not down shift below 3rd and will not go into 6th. also the odometer, mpg, and trips all go blank.code p0720. output speed sensor circuit. i'm told by ford and a transmission shop that it's in the transmission! truck just hit 69147 miles and i haven't owned it three weeks yet.

Vehicle is down shifting to gears while the car is in motion, causing the vehicle to come to a abrupt stop. i was going 55 mph and the vehicle down shifted without notice, causing the vehicle to swerve into on coming traffic. this has happen several times, i do not feel safe operating the vehicle. took it to the dealership and was told that there was nothing that they could do to fix the issue, due to the engineers had not came up with a solution. i was given an estimation date of june of when ford would have a system upgrade. meanwhile, i stuck with a truck payment for a vehicle i cannot safely drive.

Today while driving 70mph my truck shifted to 1st gear causing the truck to lock the rear tires, swerve from left to right, rpm's to the max rev limit, loss of power, dash cluster went blank, wrench symbol showed up, then wrench symbol was gone with a blank dash cluster. truck then jumped to 3rd gear, back to 1st, then back up to 5th gear. pulled over turned of truck, took out key, re-started truck and issue was gone. this has happened multiple times, however, i was at 10-20mph. once at 55mph shift to 3rd gear, back to 5th, then to 1st, up to 3rd. every time the truck will end up at 3rd gear. the truck will not shift down to first manually, you must take of in 3rd gear without any power. there was a recall for 2011-2012 ford f150's. there are multiple complaints all over the internet with these same problems all with years ranging from 2011-2017. o feel this is an ongoing problem with a huge safety concern witb your vehicle going from 70mph down to first gear causing the wheels to lock up and swerve all over the highway. do people have to die before ford will recognize this is a problem with many years of the model!!!!! i'm happy my family was not in the truck when this happens. i car pool kids everyday on the highway. would you feel safe doing this knowing that ford knows about this issue from past years. please make these trucks safe!!! i took it to a ford dealer and they hooked up the computer to my truck, and the computer showed 0 codes found. every time this happens you turn off the vehicle, re-start it (sometimes you have to do it multiple times) the truck will drive perfect until it decides to act up again.

I have been having same issue as everyone else , as my 2013 f150 has shifting up and down erratically. driving at steady speeds and all of a sudden shifts up and down from 1st to 5th and 6th gear and back down again suddenly and unexpectedly. which as everyone else has stated it is a major safety problem and ford is not standing behind their product. ford knows of this problem as they have recalled certain years but not 2013 which is apparently just as much of an issue , now that i have taken my truck in for service it will my responsibility to pay at least $1000 to repair maybe more if more problems are found. this is not an isolated problem as there is an issue that spans many years and models of vehicles. the consumer should not have deal this as this a manufacturing issue that has spanned years and many models and is a major safety issue for me and that unsuspecting victim in traffic accidents.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact stated that the battery cable was removed and then re-installed, and the vehicle functioned normally. after driving 5 miles at 35 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate and lost power. the vehicle was taken to landers ford south (95 goodman rd e, southaven, ms 38671, (662) 349-4300) where it was diagnosed that the speed shaft sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 150,000.

The frightening issue i experienced on january 7, 2019 is identical to the reports i have since read regarding this vehicle and the frequent issues that led to the recall for 2010-2012 ford f-150's for unexpected transmission downshifts [nhtsa recall no. / mfr recall no. : 16v-248 / 16s19]. while driving 65-70 mph on the interstate, speedometer suddenly and rapidly fluctuated between 40 and 70, then transmission abruptly dropped from 6th/5th gear to 1st gear. as a result, my wheels locked and caused the vehicle to skid into the lane to my right, forcing other cars to swerve out of my way to avoid a high speed collision. it happened so fast, and without warning, that it was difficult to understand what was actually occurring. once stopped (in the middle of the interstate), i drove to the median, turned the engine off, sat for a few minutes to gather my thoughts, restarted the vehicle and drove it slowly to my ford dealership (not on the highway). after inspecting my truck, the ford dealership verified the issue and stated the following (written report attached): ran koec got code p0720 oss sensor circuit fault, ran pinpoint tests, found open in oss sensor which is part of the molded lead frame attached to the valve body, removed the valve body, dissasembled, cleaned and inspected the value body, all valves and bores are ok, reassembled valve body with new molded lead frame assembly and new revised separator plate gasket, installed new clutch feed tube seals and seal between valve body and fluid pump, installed new fluid filter and pan gasket, filled transmission with new fluid reprogrammed pcm and cleared dtcs, verified repairs. despite parallels to the previous recall issue, ford informed me it is not covered (there is nothing i could have done to prevent it) and the total cost to me was $1,418.83. please expand the recall - it will save lives.

Put the ford f150 into gear, would not shift up from 1st gear. same issue we have been having and have taken to the dealership and they cannot find any problems with the transmission. had to turn off truck and restart

My 2013 ford f-150 ecoboost gets stuck in 1st gear sometimes while trying to move from a stop. it has also skipped 1st and 2nd gear and gotten stuck in 3rd gear and barely able to move more than 5 mph. it has happened from a dead stop as well as while driving 40 plus miles per hour. typically pulling over and turning the truck off and back on fixes it. i am afraid it will happen again and cause an accident.

Truck suddenly drops from 6th gear to 1 st gear and barks the rear tires while traveling at 60mph also the instrument panel goes completely out except for the rpm gauge it also down shifts from 6th to 5th and then will not upshift and only down shifts to 3rd gear also it has stuck in 1st gear when taking iff from a red light. it has done everything while traveling down the highway except for the 1st gear issue that happened from a stoped position when i started to take off. problem does happen all the time and when you pull over and place the vehicle in park and turn the engine off and restart the engine the problem goes away and then it starts it again took the truck to local dealership and was told it would cost 985.00 to fix this problem when it is the same problem that was recalled on the previous years truck same problem on the 2011 and 2012 also have read the problem is still accouring on the 2014 models as well

While driving the vehicle it will downshift from higher gears and then no longer shifts or registers speed - wrench light will illuminate on dash. the speedometer will also drop down to zero and no longer register any speed even though the truck is moving. the digital display will display dashes and the air bag light indicator will stay lite. when you unbuckle the seat belt the indicator light will not illuminate. took it in to have battery tested and had 100% charge but reading indicated a bad battery so had it replaced but issue still presented itself an hour later. issue occurs intermittently and without warning. took it to mechanic and they had it for two days and unable to replicate situation. also took it to dealer and was told they couldn't do anything if the issue never presented itself while they had the truck. asked if issue was ever presented at that facility or any known issues and was told no. issue has occurred on four separate occasions over the last 20 days.

My 2013 ford f-150 xlt with 71,000 miles is having transmission issues and problems with shifting and completely losing power while driving. this issue has started intermittantly about a month ago. while i'm driving, a giant wrench appears on the dashboard which is then followed by loss of power and acceleration. the vehicle is then stuck into a single gear and the speedometer and mileage computer go blank so i no longer know how fast i'm travelling. my vehicle issue seems very similar to the 2011-2012 ford f-150 transmission downshifting recall from below. 'federal safety regulators are investigating whether to reopen and expand a previous ford recall by more than a million vehicles for unexpected downshifting. the initial 2016 recall affected more than 153,000 ford f-150, ford expedition, lincoln navigator and ford mustang vehicles from the 2011-12 model years. a second recall would increase that number to an estimated 1,375,577 vehicles affected, and expand into the 2013 model year."

We took our ford f150 in for erratic downshifting, were able to provide photographic evidence of the problem, but because no error codes are popping up and they can't replicate the problem they are returning out vehicle to us. my issue is ford knows this is an issue and knows the fix is to update the software then look for error codes, but they are acting as they have no idea this is a known problem amongst the 2011-2013 models and they are sending the unfixed car back home to be a safety hazard not only to my family but the families on the road around us.

Driving down interstate and truck suddenly shifted to 3rd gear locking up my tires. thank god i didn't lose control and drove off the road to a stop. turned off truck and back on. drove ok for a bit. will keep dropping gears or randomly shifting up and down. from a start it could sometime try to go into 5th. at times all the dash indicators flash and go to dashes.

When the truck was in cruise control, the engine started randomly downshifting all the way to 1st gard.

Transmission - molded leadframe malfunction on 5.0 motor. the 2011-2012 recall for the molded leadframe malfunction also affects 2013 vehicles such as ours leading to the truck loosing power, stalling out, shifting on it's own from 5th to 1st and the other way leaving the truck a wreck waiting to happen at any time during driving. this risks the lives of the driver, passengers and everyone else on the road. when this happens you must bring the vehicle to a complete stop, shut it off, wait for computer to cycle, then restart. ford should be expanding the recall to replace this deadly malfunctioning part at their cost. this has happened at least 10 times within 30 days of owning the vehicle which was bought from maxwell ford in austin texas. the last time this happened it was in a parking lot after just starting the truck and backing out of a stall.
