Turned right and started to accelerate, when i got up to about 45-50 mph and the ecoboost went to kick in, truck dramatically jerked forward and then the whole truck started to shutter and shake until the vehicle slowed to a point where the ecoboost transitioned off. has happened several times but this time my wife experienced it too and we feel it may be a safety issue should it happen while driving in traffic or on a freeway. we should be able to drive the truck at 50+ mph without having to slow down to fix the problem. *tr
While accelerating the engine shuddered and then shook hard, power was lost. it took approximately 10 seconds before it powered up again. this happened in march 2013 and again on june 7. also i have noticed it shudder when coming to a stop. *tr
Loss of power/engine misfires during hard acceleration on mid afternoon friday, june 7, 2013 passing a car at country rd speed or less (was almost at a complete stop while car in front of me turned) in rain. once i reached destination truck sat until mid day sunday, june 9 when condition recurred on hill climb acceleration in dry conditions. engine misfire indicator light came on at that time. after pulling over and shutting truck off to check owners manual, the service engine light came on when i started truck back up and has remained on but the issue hasn't recurred. appt at ford dealer for service on friday, june 14 to check the engine light status and this issue. engine is 3.5l v6 ecoboost. *tr
Driving in the rain. tried to merge on highway. truck started missing and bucking. i had the truck floored and it was loosing speed. i had to pull over. check engine light came on. almost got into an accident due to loss of power. *tr
I was merging on the on ramp to obtain highway speed i stepped on the gas when all of the sudden the truck started to shake really bad. i tried to step on the gas to accelerate but there was no throttle response to the engine as the truck continued to lose speed. every time i tried to step on the gas the truck would shake even worse. i pulled over to the side of the road so i would not cause an accident. this is not the first time i have experience this shudder in the truck. *tr
It is a new truck 2012 with about 650 miles when purchased. the first cold start the engine ran rough and had a slight miss. told dealer said not to worry they could fix it. went to ky on way back ran into a down pour of rain. the truck at about 40mph started to shake and quiver like it was going to quit .got to the side of road to keep from getting hit from other vehicles. i have had it to the dealer numerous times they cant fix it.i hope that no one gets hurt from this engine failure.the truck now has 4160 miles, it still idles rough and has miss. the dealer checked it out and still can't find the cause. *tr
June 5, driving from fort collins, co, to billing, mt, going up a hill towing a travel trailer, loss of power, misfiring of engine, check engine light came on. not raining. june 7, mileage at 22548, fords fix: install new deflector, new intercooler and update pcm. june 11, driving from yellow stone river in mt to steamboat lake co, going up a hill, minor misfiring of engine, check engine light came on, went off the next day. not raining. june 15, from colorado spring, co to albuquerque, nm, after getting gas, started to get back on the highway (after ~5 hours of driving), turbo kick on, massive loss of power (no acceleration at all), heavy shaking of truck, engine light came on. took over a mile to get back up to highway speed (55 mph). gas mileage reduced by 20%. not raining. 6/27, mileage 24563, dealer replaced all spark plugs, plugs blackened on porcelain. truck is still misfiring at random. gas mileage reduced. 7/1/2013, return to dealer, random misfiring. dealer performed no fixes or updates. 7/18, return to dealer for inspection by ford field engineer. have an appointment 7/23 to replace catalytic converter (per field engineer) which may be plugged. i believe that permanent damage has been done to the engine. have copies of all repair orders. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that during heavy rain and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. the contact mentioned that the check engine light illuminate. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. however, he advised the contact to bring the vehicle back when it rained in order to duplicate the problem. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 6,000.
Attempting to pass a vehicle on the highway, motor lost all power and began shaking. code came up as engine misfire. brought to the dealership said known issue, they inspected did not find anything wrong. since that date has occurred 4-5 more times during wet weather anytime accelerating (passing vehicles, on ramps).
2012 ford f150xl with 3.5l v6 ecoboost engine. accelerating to merge onto highway with cruise control off and after successfully merging, vehicle expectantly lunged forward while foot was off gas. engine kept accelerating for period of 5 seconds reaching 90mph. i was hitting the brake the entire time with no effect until heard a dull clunk or pop sound coming from the engine compartment and behind the steering wheel. after this sound, the engine stopped accelerating and i was able to regain control. if there was a motorcycle or car in front of me i would have run them over. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, he depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not respond. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while accelerating from a traffic stop, there was a complete loss of the engine power without warning. the contact was crashed into from the rear. a police report was filed but no injuries were reported. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 12,000. *tr
While driving at approx. 70mph i attempted to accelerate hard to allow another vehicle to merge into traffic on southbound i-75. my vehicle immediately slowed down and began to shudder. i let off the accelerator and coasted until the shudder stopped. the steering wheel shook as if i had two flat front tires. the vehicle returned to normal after about 30 seconds and i completed my trip without further problems. *tr
Pulled out to pass and the vehicle lost all power and started to shake and shutter could not complete pass vehicle stalled had to pull over to side of road but restarted and check engine light was on. my dealer said they never heard of this before. dealer took code from truck it showed a miss fire cylinder 6 light is off now. i think it is a big safety concern. *tr
Upon entering the entrance ramp to a highway the engine experienced a complete loss of power around 35 mph. all attempts to increase acceleration were futile and the engine went into "limp mode" and would not respond to any input. after 30 seconds of unsuccessfully attempting to accelerate i turned on my hazard signal and began to move toward the shoulder to avoid causing a dangerous situation. the vehicle then suddenly began to respond and accelerated normally back onto the highway. *tr
Multiple acceleration issues, especially when attempting to pass another vehicle and/or when accelerating abruptly. i have also noticed condensation from the exhaust when first starting the vehicle in the morning on multiple occasions. *tr
Traveling at 60 + / - mph and attempted to pass another vehicle under normal conditions. engine lost power on acceleration and seemed to sputter. this is strange as the gas was not "punched" or anything outside of normal passing acceleration. initially i thought i may be out of gas or something but this was not the case. i have noted power loss two other times but did not think anything of it as the engine returned to normal once i backed off the gas. the one difference this time is the engine made a very rough vibration which caused others in the truck to ask if i was having engine trouble. *tr
Straightening our vehicle in parking place at home depot. slowly (~2mph) going forward with foot on brake when engine suddenly speed up. mashed down hard on brake while shifting into neutral. tires or clutch screaming so loud it drew a group of yardmen unloading a truck nearby. shortly after getting it shifted into neutral engine resumed normal operation. took to ford dealer immediately and will be evaluated after the holiday. several times in the week prior to incident i noticed some slight "stuttering" of the vehicle when slowly moving forward to park in driveway, also noticed for the past 1 to 1.5 months there has been a 2+ mile per gallon decrease in fuel mileage running over the same routes. *tr
While driving my 2012 f 150 with under 5000 miles on it at highway speeds i went to pass a truck and put the accelerator down to the floor. the truck down shifted and the rpm's went up. when this accrued the truck feel flat on its face. there was no acceleration what's so ever and the truck seemed to miss. i held it to the floor for about 5 seconds with no change. please feel free to contact me on this issue. *tr
When you press the throttle pedal to pass the vehicle has a slight acceleration and then shakes, shudders and will not accelerate. i need to coast for several hundred yards before the system recovers and the truck accelerates. this happens all summer long pretty much every time i need to pass. my ford dealer says they have applied the service bulletins but that does not correct the problem. in your investigation of this matter it is stated that ford says you can still accelerate i can tell you that is absolutely not true with my truck. i should note that most of the time i am pulling an 18' fishing boat that weights about 3000 lbs. on at least six different occasions now while on vacation i have been in a long string of traffic behind either motor homes or logging trucks that could not go highway speed, i pull out to pass them step on the gas, it shakes, shudders and there i sit in the oncoming traffic lane, meanwhile the string of vehicles behind me have closed the gap, i cannot pull back into the right lane and i cannot accelerate to get in front of them. i end up just slowly moving back to the right hoping the other vehicles will back off and move out of the way, then comes the blasting of their horns and shaking of their fists when they eventually pass me. i cannot imagine how this is not considered a safety issue. ford specifically markets this ecoboost engine based on it's torque for towing to people that need a truck for towing but you cannot use any of that torque all summer long and i am pulling a boat that is only at one third of the towing capacity. *tr
I was driving on a 2 lane highway, behind a semi truck, with several cars behind me. we came to a passing zone and i began to pass the semi truck. i moved to the oncoming lane and accelerated, but the truck lost power. i began slowing down in the on coming lane, but couldn't return to the right lane because the vehicles that were behind me were passing me in the right lane and i had a vehicle directly behind me that was followed me to pass the semi truck. i locked out 5th and 6th gears on the transmission to gain some rpm but the vehicle started to shudder violently. i moved to the shoulder of the on coming lane and shut the vehicle off. i sat on the shoulder for several minutes, got out of the vehicle and checked under it for fluids. there were no fluids under the vehicle. all the gauges read normal. i did all this on the shoulder of the oncoming lane facing oncoming traffic. this was not a good position to be in. i started the vehicle, put it in gear to see if it would move, it did. i had full power and got back into traffic and the truck ran fine. no warning lights, no indication that anything was wrong. several miles later i lost engine power again, and again got the violent shudder, and the check engine light came on. going to see the dealer today. this is bad! the first incident could have caused a huge accident. moving onto that left shoulder proved to be a good move, but i was at pucker factor 10 for a few seconds. *tr
Truck has 3.5l ecoboost v6 engine. 18 may 2013. was traveling on two lane highway in central georgia. pulling a 3000 lb utility trailer. had been driving in light rain for about one hour. speed limit was 55. i was following a car that was going about 45 mph. when i got to a slight uphill grade there was a passing lane available and clear of other vehicles. i pulled to the left lane to pass the slower vehicle in front of me. i pressed the accelerator about 3/4 down to attempt a downshift of gears. the truck immediately began vibrating/shuddering and lost almost all power. i pulled back to the right lane and held light pressure on the accelerator and was able to maintain about 20 mph speed. i held the throttle steady and after about two minutes the engine regained full power and i proceeded on my trip. *tr
From stoplight to begin approach up a long/large bridge truck shuttered violently, lost power, did not show any codes, seemed to be in a "safe mode" as it did not stall but would not accelerate and lost speed despite throttle to floor or at any position to regain power. weather was nice, not raining or overly humid. *tr
Veh loses power upon acceleration. has happened multiple times. dealer is not able to correct the problem. *tr
I was driving at 60mph in a foggy rain when i began up a hill. i moved to the left lane as the two cars in front of me were slowing when my engine stuttered and i lost power causing me to drastically slow down. a service required message flashed on my display and a advanctrac service light illuminated. for the remainder of the trip i had very limited power and the vehicle was gear hunting. once powered of and powered back on the vehicle operated normally. *tr
While attempting to pass another vehicle i tried to accelerate to get up enough speed. the vehicle started shuddering violently and lost all power, making it impossible to maintain highway speeds for a few minutes. for the next few minutes any attempt at acceleration resulted in more shuddering from the engine. this also happened a few months before at the exact same point on the highway. i have the ecoboost engine in my vehicle. *tr
First incident happened after vehicle had been driven on highway for about 15 miles. at stop sign, upon acceleration, engine began to shudder going through gears. pulled over, stopped engine, started and began shuddering again. vehicle was towed to rockwall ford, dealer in rockwall tx.. found loose connection (not the problem). second incident: vehicle began misfiring around highway speeds. after reading forums and doing research, found moisture problems with intercooler (cac). rockwall ford dealer replaced per ford procedure: replace cac and installed deflector shield for moisute at 20,170 miles. third incident: vehicle continues to shudder at highway speeds took to different ford dealer (randal noe in terrell, tx). dealer very helpful and found truck to misfire. ford however has no resolution to this problem and still have no truck. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f150. the contact stated that the vehicle lost acceleration power while towing a boat. the contact was able to shift the gear manually and regain acceleration. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed, which was unable to locate a failure code. the dealer also test drove the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the failure. the contact stated that moisture penetrated the eco-boost and caused the vehicle to lose acceleration. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 28,000 and the approximate current mileage was 28,300.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the contact attempted to accelerate but the vehicle decelerated and shook violently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ecoboost chamber was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 9,000. *tr
On 2 separate occasions, approximately 3 months apart while in hard acceleration attempting to merge on an interstate on-ramp, vehicle began to shudder violently and lose power. in first instance, i was able to merge in the left lane and let off the accelerator. as vehicle coasted, the shudder subsided and within 1 minute stopped all together. in the second instance, when the vehicle lost power, traffic conditions would not allow me to merge and i was forced to coast along the shoulder of the road until the shudder subsided and power was resumed. in neither situation, did the vehicle go into safe mode or the check engine light appear. vehicle simply resumed normal operation. *tr
While attempting to accelerate from a stop sign turning right my 2012 ford f150 platinum 4x4 ecoboost stalled and would not accelerate for a few seconds. i thought the truck shifted into neutral but that was not the case. this has happened several times within the last 3 months and is getting more frequent. *tr
Well i purchased this truck a brand new 2012 ford f-150 xlt super crew w/ 3.5l ecoboost engine. the truck had 104 miles when i bought it. after a week i started to notice that the truck shudder's when i accelerate from a dead stop and it also shudders when i come to a full stop. for about a week every single day and time i would start and stop the truck would shudder. i thought this was because the engine just needed to break in. well i am going on the 4th week of owning this truck and it still occurs. the shudder that is. the shudder also occurs now when i have a cold engine start and i put the truck in reverse it starts to shudder. i do feel as the driver it has effected the performance of my truck. 854
Having issues with the ecoboost accelerating upon take off or getting on to road ways numerous times i have come close to getting hit because of no power upon accelerating now this has been going since purchase new with only 116 miles and purchase date 3-17-2013. the dealer says this is normal operating condition for the vehicle to have lag time before power.my feeling is if you are sitting at a light and you give the vehicle gas the vehicle will move slow and then do a sudden acceleration and could cause death or injury to someone unsafe truck. now i'm having issues with the driver window not going down or when it is down will not go up they say this is normal operating procedure ford has some issue and they need to be corrected before someone gets killed or hurt bad. *tr
I only just learned of your investigation so my memory on exact dates and mileage may be off by a few weeks. i did take my truck to the ford dealer to report my incident so they should should have a record of this and the work they performed (baierl ford, zelienople, pa 16063). my 2012 f150 with the 3.5l ecoboost was about 6 months old at the time. i was passing a coal truck uphill on a 10% grade. i was not towing, nor did i have a load in the bed. he was going about 30 mph. i eased out and got along side running now at about 50-55, then 'punched' the throttle to complete the pass. that did not turn out well. the engine cut out exactly like a reverse limiter on an atv and the check engine light came on. i barely was able to complete the pass, and was 'pushed' up the hill by the coal truck, engine running in that cut-out mode all the way. got over the top and it continued to run like this down the other side. after about 6 miles, it went back to normal and the check engine light went out. took it to my dealer not too long after. they installed something - since it was warranty work i wasn't given the paperwork and simply don't recall what they did. apparently there was a tsb on the problem though. i have not had a repeat in the 6 months since, although i do drive differently now, having experienced that episode. that event severely compromised my confidence in this engine. since then i have been very adverse to passing on two lane roads and have delayed towing several times for fear this would happen again potentially creating a deadly situation. *tr
While driving at highway speed, i heard a pop and 'ding' sound before losing all electrical items - dash board, head lights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, etc., but the engine was still operating. i then felt a grinding noise and immediately exited the highway safely to park at a gas station. i turned off and removed the key but the engine was still running. i was only a few miles from a ford dealership. i inserted the key, turned it to the on position and tried to put the truck into gear while depressing the brake. the transmission brake release would not work. i called roadside assistance who scheduled a tow to the dealership. i had to call the dealership to figure out how to turn the engine off. they advised that i should pull the fuel pump relay fuse which did stop the engine. to date, ford does not know what is wrong. *tr
As i went to pass slow moving vehicles in a brand new f-150 ecoboost with 4,000 miles on it completely lost power twice within 30 minutes and shut down for about 20 seconds. once i was slowed to about 15 mph on a busy street it went back to normal and the accelerator starting working again. *tr
Merging onto interstate at 50 mph i accelerated hard to merge into traffic. complete loss of acceleration nearly causing an accident with a tractor trailer behind us. violent shuddering of entire vehicle, check engine light flashed and then remained on. after nearly a minute of feathering the accelerator, the problem subsided and ability to accelerate was regained. this had already happened once on the same drive and a couple if times prior to this incident. i dropped the truck off at the dealer this am after driving it for two days with the check engine light on. they said they would call with an update in the afternoon, but when 7pm rolled around and i had not yet heard from them i called to see what was going on and was told that they were waiting for a replacement intercooler and to call back in the morning and speak with the service advisor. seems like a very common - not to mention dangerous - problem for ford not to be publicly dealing with it, or at least being more proactive about issuing a recall for. hopefully no one gets hurt before the problem is acknowledged & fixed. *tr
Driving in raining conditions, when accelerating i would loose power when the turbo chargers kicked in. it was as if the turbo chargers were picking up the moisture causing the engine to misfire and would loose all power for acceleration. even after the rain stopped, this acceleration problem stayed with the vehicle for the remainder of the trip. the next morning, still had same problem but as the temperature went up and humidity decreased the problem got less severe and by the end of the second day the acceleration had returned to normal. the first occurrence was when i was passing a semi trailer, i tried to pull out around in passing zone on a single lane in each direction, when the engine didn't respond i had to break and fall back being the semi. luckily, this occurred as i pulled out to pass the semi, if it had happened after i along side of the semi, there would have been no way to accelerate to pass the semi or return to my side of the road before the oncoming traffic arrived. i have heard of other individuals experiencing the same during raining conditions and don't understand why ford has not issued a fix for this problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shook violently and lost acceleration power. the contact also mentioned that the check engine warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000 and current mileage was 12,400. *tr
Truck stumbles and stutters at 62 mph and around 1400 rpm when attempting to accelerate. ford dealership replaced cac and upgraded software, this helped the problem but did not fix the problem. i reported back to the dealer about the continued problem and there response was that i was feeling turbo lag and ford corp does not currently have a fix, check back in a few months. *tr
I had been driving in hard rain for about 3 hours pulling a 8000lb travel trailer. on a 3 lane interstate i pulled out to pass a slow vehicle in the rh lane. we were going up a slight hill. it started to shake, lost power, and slowed to about 30 mph. i was then in the center lane going too slow for the traffic with trucks passing me blowing their horns on both sides and the road slop from them making it hard to see. i stopped in a rest area and called the ford help line who offered no advice other than to call a local dealer. i am from mi. and this happened in tn. normally on a hill like this it would have gone to 65mph with no effort. the altitude was about 850', temp 45 deg, no check engine lights or codes, was in the tow haul mode, as i got to the rh side again it started to get better, took about 2 minutes. i was amazed i didn't get rear ended by a truck. it was a really scary situation and my wife is still hesitant about pulling a trailer with it. when i got home i took it to my dealer and they checked a lot of things and did some of the tsb's for this problem and couldn't find anything. they then put a flight recorder on it for about 3 weeks and got no codes. now all i know is they don't know what is wrong and i'm not sure if it will ever be taken care of. they are very closed mouth about this issue. i'd really like to get some idea if they are working on it or if i'm stuck with it. it's a really nice truck if it doesn't kill us. *tr
It first started when i merged onto the interstate and it lost all power and misfired. i took it to the dealership and they replaced to parts. know my truck has a miss in the engine took it back to ford and the first dealership said that it was because i had aftermarket tires on it and the engine was to small for the size of my truck. so i asked to take it to a different dealer and they charged me $95 to say it was the aftermarket grille guard that is on my truck. nothing shows on the computer but they all feel the miss the truck only has 13000 miles on it and i am afraid to drive it long distance. i am stationed in germany and my parents have my truck so i am listing there information below. *tr
V6 ecoboost my family and i were traveling in heavy rain on i65 in birmingham, al. i pulled into the far left lane to pass slower vehicles. when i accelerated the truck began to shake violently and rapidly lose speed and power. several vehicles including a semi had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. the second time was on my return trip home. we were traveling on a two lane road in foggy conditions. we came to an area when the road split so you could pass slower vehicles. i, along with a car following, went to pass a slower vehicle which had moved to the right. when i was alongside the slower vehicle my truck began to shake and lose speed. i had to take evasive braking action to fall in behind the vehicle to my right because they were running out of room. the vehicle following me also had to take evasive action to avoid hitting me. and the car to my right. i took the truck to the dealer when i returned home. they replaced the cac, installed a plastic shield, reprogrammed the computer, and replaced a defective cat as was the recommended repair according to the issued tsb. on april 18th i was traveling on hwy41 in the rain.twice on my trip the vehicle began to shake and lose speed when passing slower vehicles. the applied tsb did not fix the problem. i returned the vehicle to the dealership at the request of ford customer care. they were unable to find an issue. the day the vehicle was returned the second cat went out and had to be replaced. ford has acknowledged the issue but has informed me that there is nothing they can do at this time. they offered to send me a buy back offer within ten days and after twenty days and several phone calls today they informed me that they are unable to buy back my truck. they also told me that i would have to live with the issue until they (if) come up with a fix. i am unwilling to put my family at risk. *tr
Vehicle was purchased on 3/16/13 as a demo model with 6300 miles on it. made a left turn and accelerated to merge into traffic on 3/19/13 when the whole vehicle shuddered violently and the engine lost power resulting in people having to hit their brakes and honk at us to avoid hitting us. the engine continued to bog down as the accelerator was pushed. i let the vehicle coast to almost a stop before the symptoms went away and could drive as normal. i looked up symptoms on internet and found many people experiencing same symptoms with this new eco-boost engine by ford in their trucks. it seems that the intercooler can collect condensation in humid or rainy environments and have that water forced to the engine when the accelerator is pushed hard causing the vehicle to shudder and lose power. ford has apparently identified this problem and issued a tbs service bulletin instructing the charged air cooler be replaced with a newly designed one for model year 2011-2012 f-150's with the 3.5l v6 eco-boost engine if a customer complains of the above symptoms and some people have reported this solution has not fixed the problem. this is extremely dangerous as one could lose power as many have reported, towing heavy loads, on the highway passing and other situations that a loss of power could lead to a fatal accident. the "newly designed" charged air cooler has been on back order for months and people are being told to "drive their vehicles carefully" if their dealer doesn't provide a rental or vehicle to drive while awaiting repair. my vehicle was taken back to dealership on 3/21/13 and has been sitting their awaiting the part as i feel it is unsafe to drive. *tr
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated while driving 10 mph the vehicle stalled. suddenly the vehicle accelerated without applying the accelerator pedal. the contact stated access fuel flooded the engine. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer regarding the acceleration and the engine fuel. the dealer could not diagnose the vehicle. the failure mileage was 8,700. jo
Having recurring issues with ford ecoboost engine on my 2012 f-150. below is a summary of visits to the dealership for service related issues: 3/13/13- engine light on, shuttering, shaking, and won't go over 70 on highway. dealership found no issues. 3/29/13- engine light on, shuttering, shaking, and won't go over 70 on highway. dealership identified issue as bad cac intercooler and replaced per tsb 130303c. 7/9/13- engine light and misfire. also, transmission slamming forward as if being rear-ended. dealership coil #2 and spark plug. not able to verify the transmission slamming?? issue. 10/30/13-filed a complaint with ford customer service. still experiencing intermittent cac intercooler symptoms and transmission slamming. 1/3/14- another dealership found that the new cac intercooler had been improperly installed without deflector shield. also repaired transmission issue. 1/18/13- engine light on. replaced catalytic converter bank. 1/27/14- contacted ford customer service with new information. ford forwarded this information to the regional dealership manager. 2/2/14- still having cac intercooler issues during snow storm. 2/4/14- ford customer service closed claim. never contacted by any dealership representative regarding my concerns. i feel that i am getting the run around from ford on this particular matter. i do not think they are taking the issues with these f150 trucks seriously enough. no permanent fix for the problem has been found, at least not with my truck. i am also concerned that you can take your vehicle to one dealership where they cannot identify a transmission issue, but another one can. furthermore, it concerns me that this intercooler problem can create a safety issue on the roadway, yet, the dealership makes a repair without installing all of the necessary components. *tr
My wife and i were coming home going about 55 mph and i went to pass a slower car. as i pulled on the passing lane and went to pass the engine start to cut out the more i pushed on the accelator the slower the truck went. it has done this two more time. i'm fixing to take to ford in a few weeks. this could be a safety problem the truck has the 3.5 eco engine. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph and attempting to switch lanes, the vehicle began to lose power and engaged into limp mode. the contact pulled the vehicle over, shut off the engine and once restarted, it functioned properly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the computer needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 7,000. *tr
Incident 1. weather: cloudy with some snow around 20 degrees.when accelerating on to interstate 70 in e. illinois the engine stumbled and loss power. the on ramp had an uphill grade and when the vehicle hit 35-40 mph, it lost all power and sounded like it was struggling to get fuel. i was able to pull to the side of the road, put it in park. i tried to rev the engine in park but it would just stumble. i turned the engine off and waited a few minutes then restarted it and it and it seemed to work as expected. this has happened 3 times since march 4th with the last time being on may 9th. incident 2. weather: partly cloudy in the 30's., march 7th, same conditions as above engine stumbled and loss power accelerating on to interstate 376 in w. pa incident 3. weather: nighttime, in the 60's. going around 30 mph flat road, speed changed to 55 mph tried to accelerate to the posted speed and again the engine stumbled and loss power. this time the dashboard lit up with a bunch of codes (didn't write them down) again turning the engine off and waiting a few minutes seemed to clear the condition. *note* due to a heavy work schedule and needing my vehicle i have not had a chance to get my vehicle into the dealer to have them look at it yet. *tr
While driving on freeway and trying to pass, vehicle started shaking violently and lost power. also when pulling out into traffic vehicle when lose power and engine shakes. engine light came ona nd has remained on. very dangerous situations continue to happen daily. ford ecoboost system has a problem, dealership says ford is aware but does not know when parts to repair might be available. says to continue to drive. i am concerned a major accident is waiting to happen. this seems to be something ford was aware of when sold this vehicle. *tr
