Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 70 mph, the transmission seized. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 29,000.

Tsb 15-0131 timing chain stretches and makes a loud rattle upon starting and eventually leads to loss of power and engine damage. the known cause of this is all the phasers, the intake and exhaust phasers. this is my main concern. everyone i know who owns this vehicle has this problem. the other complaint is that i get 14 mpg.

While driving on the freeway in the morning going somewhere between 50-60 mph, vehicle automatically down shifted to first gear resulting in the wheels locking up. was able to maintain control of the vehicle until it slowed down to first gear. transmission was damaged. ford would not fix the problem. had to have aamco rebuild the transmission for $5,460.07. occurred in sept of 2015 with 74,000 mileage.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would exhibit hard and sporadic gear shifting. while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission independently shifted from sixth to second gear, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (dogget ford, 9225 north freeway, houston, tx) where it was diagnosed that the transmission valve body was faulty. the transmission control module was reprogrammed per nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train), but the failures continued. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but vehicle hesitated before it accelerated and the rpms increased. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train); however, the vin was not included. the failure mileage was 90,000. updated 09/27/16*lj *tr

July 6 lost power to truck engine at 60 mph when going to pass in hard acceleration situation. truck engine shuttered for over 3 mins until i could get it stabilized around 2000 rpms in a lower gear/speed. this was the first of two similar situation on the same day with the truck and throughout the remainder of the day any acceleration over 3500 rpms caused a loss of power. we limped the vehicle home that day. next day check engine light came on and off until we could get truck into our local ford dealer for service on 7-13. this issue has been researched via info on this site to no conclusion. i can say if you drove this vehicle and simulated this issue you would see the major issue this causes and potential risk of accident at highway speeds with acceleration. specifically heavy traffic situations. the issue caused spark plug damage, catalytic converter damage and the dealer performed the tsb (4th issued by ford) to attempt to fix the issue. this is a known issue, causes safety issues and should be recalled to permanently fix not try to patch with four different tsb. fix this correctly before accidents occur that cause deaths. updated 9/25/15 *ln updated 3/23/2016*js updated 11/27/2017*cn

When attempting to accelerate from a complete stop the truck will only move forward when the pedal is fully depressed. when this is happening the truck barely moves then it will catch and lunge forward at break-neck speed. this same thing happens at approximately 30 mph, will be accelerating normally when all the sudden the rpm and speed gauges completely drop the engine losses all power and if the pedal is continued to be pressed the truck will lunge forward, again at break-neck speed. in a 10 mile trip it can happen 3 or 4 times. today we had a new experience where when decelerating to come to a complete stop the motor began revving to redline all while only the brake was depressed. on green light the acceleration again was limited to full petal and a limp till burst mode. these events all scare the family to the point of not riding in the vehicle.

2012 f150, 5.0 v8 3 years off lot when july 4th gets here in 2015. 33000 miles and 4 of the spark plugs are shot, ford tech said gaps are off. from factory. o2 sensor also shot. working on it now, better be covered under bumper to bumper, because $1100.00 dollars is a lot to put into practically a brand new truck.

I was merging on to the expressway and went to merge and mashed pedal to the floor the 3.5 ecoboost engine would not accelerate and lost power. i was almost run over by a tractor trailer truck. had there not been a third lane for him to dodge around me i wouldn't be sending this complaint, i would be dead. ford has to find a fix for this problem immediately. *tr

While attempting to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane road, the engine on my truck started sputtering, then lost speed and power very rapidly. at that point the check engine light started blinking and the truck almost stalled. fortunately i was able to pull into a parking lot and avoid other drivers. had an oncoming car been too close, or had i not had a parking lot to pull into, there was a strong possibility i would have had an accident. i have had this happen to a lesser degree in the past, but not to the extent i experienced above, nor did the check engine light ever start blinking. at the time i passed this off as being bad gas, my tires slipping or some other issue and thought no more of it. at this point i don't want others to get put into the same situation, which could result in someone getting hurt. because reports of this happening to trucks of the same year, make, model and engine i felt compelled to file this complaint. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the manufacturer was not contacted to determine when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Back out of garage turned steering wheel to left; put in drive pulled ahead , advance track light came on and service advance light also came on . if you don't reset light the signal lights don't work unless you hold the lever up or down it bring codes up c1b00 and u0428-20 andu2101 which dealer says steering sensor is bad but not serviceable so you need new electric steering rack. this is on a 2012 f150xlt and there is no recall but i think this is a safety issue, also i think it is a power train issue. *tr

Engine shut off completely a big wrench came up on the screen where the mpg and stuff are almost got rear ended due to rush hour traffic. *tr

When there was snow and ice on the highways i put my truck in 4 wheel drive and when turned back into 2 wheel drive i began to notice a grinding and vibration noise that occurred when turning. then couple weeks later the noise started when backing out causing truck to shake and lose power to barely back out. this noise continued and has gotten worse. was taken to dealership and looked over. updates were made as well as oil change but days later noise came back. since 2/12/15 my truck has been in the service department four times and has performed recommendations by ford but days later noise comes back. the last time my truck was in i was told by the owner and service manager my truck is not fixable as they were informed other 2012 f150's are having same issues and an investigation is being done. since this my truck is shaking more backing up, jerking the vehicle on the highway as if losing power than will gain power and jolt forward, i hear this grinding noise all the time when driving at different speeds from 30-60 mph, turns, and backing up. the other issue is when truck gets to 60 mph or higher it does not shift down unless i let up on pedal and then push it again. i am feeling unsafe in this vehicle as twice now i have heard a popping noise while driving with this noise. the dealership has told me there is nothing more they can do. the issue has been reported to ford and they have done nothing for me. i want to get rid of this truck as i do not feel safe driving it like this. *tr

After driving in raining conditions for more than four hours, i attempted to pass another vehicle. when i accelerated, my vehicle began to lose power and shake violently. because of this, i nearly cause a multiple car accident do to my inability to control my trucks rapidly reducing speed. the same issue or type of issue occurred in late august of 2013 while attempting to merge into traffic. upon acceleration attempt, the engine reduced power, failed to respond and the vehicle shook violently. a ford dealership completed tsb-13-8-1, however, it was reluctantly done as no code would verify a problem. the truck is currently at another dealership, who once i explained the problem i was having, told me that i needed to have tsb-13-8-1 performed. i mentioned it had been performed and was told that unless a code could verify a problem, nothing could be done. this is a well documented problem, with many occurrences. this vehicle is going to get someone killed if someone doesn't correct the issue. it is not something that can be "created" by a mechanic to, it only happens in real-life situations. is there something someone can do to make ford research, identify and correct this issue before even one death? *tr

3.5l ecoboost f150 began to shudder and fail to accelerate while trying to merge into interstate traffic. had to slow down to keep it from continuing to shudder. this has happen repeatedly on at least 4 different occasions! dealership says it show no codes for misfires??? *tr

Gears flash on and off, then the accelerator slows down. goes into nuetral automatically. randomly shifts between gears causing truck to pick up speed or drastically lose speed without warning. shifts very hard as well. this has happened while i was driving in our neighborhood as well as on the highway. seems to happen everytime i drive above 65mph, but occasionally in the neighborhood. the random shifting of gears happened first around 4 years ago, but has been a safety risk for the last 5-6 months due to the increase in it happening.

I was with my family on the way to church. i was making a right turn out of our neighborhood onto the highway when all of the sudden there was a complete loss in power and was unable to resume acceleration. the highway also has a moderate incline in slope which caused the vehicle to slow dramatically. we were almost rear-ended from the car heading in the same direction which was originally a substantial distance away. luckily the car that was approaching from behind was able to slow down fast enough considering we had a 1 year and 4 year old son in the back seat. i called the local dealership and the earliest appointment they could offer to check the problem was on wednesday 10/10/2014. this is over 3 days after the incident occurred. the truck only has 40,000 miles on it so i began researching this issue. i discovered that there are more than a substantial amount of complaints and it seems ford is aware of the issue and is even attempting to modify the air induction system and re flash the pcm. with issues like the millions of vehicles being recalled for airbags that have led to serious injury or death, far beyond the manufacture originally becoming aware of the issues. how long is the issue regarding the 2011-2013 ford f150 ecoboost going to remain shoved under the rug? how many lives have to be lost before ford takes accountability for putting the public at risk. in their report to this specific issue (on the nhtsa website), it is more than obvious they have identified a defect in the 2012 ford f150 and the ecoboost engines within the trucks. can you help me understand how and why they are not being held accountable for risking the lives of many people. also, why is the nhtsa allowing ford to shrug this off and close this investigation? there is a clear defect present that has the potential of leading to loss of life. is this not pure negligence? *tr

Hear a whining noise coming from the transmission/rear of truck as truck accelerates, upon deceleration after and before down-shifting, and when cruising at a constant speed when transmission 'catches' to maintain speed. researched and found tsb 13-6-4; truck was made between dates and describes noise accurately - spoke to ford service center and truck fits within manufacturer dates of tsb, but not specific engine, just transmission. told issue wasn't "recall worthy" because it isn't a 'safety' issue, but if my transmission locks up at highway speeds this will be a 'safety issue'.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently and there was a sudden increase in engine rpms. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,100.

Differential lock activates by it's self. light comes on instrument panel showing rear axle locked. rear axle locks up at speeds below 20 mph. if stopped at a light or sign your rear wheels will drag as if the brakes are being applied. it can happen at any time. if going over 20 mph some times the instrument panel message center lights up and says you have to slow down below 20 mph to apply rear differential lock. happens mostly in 2wd. this has happened for over 6,000 miles. can be on dry pavement or rough surface. have noticed that the 4wd mode switch on dash will seem loose and the knob will pull out if you hit a rough road surface. i have replaced the mode switch at my expense (1) time at my expense p/n cl3z-14b166-ea. dealer and ford still trying to figure out problem. this causes vehicle to loose communications with obd circuit and several other modules. not allowing system to download codes or to update parameters. *tr

I had been on the highway for 6 hours with intermittent rain, about 3.5 hours since last stop, 1/2 tank of gas remaining. location was i-65 north near elizabethtown, ky, 11:15 pm, with mist, wet road and spray. weather records indicate 50 degrees and falling, light rain, 84% humidity. i had the f-150 in 4wd-auto mode due to the road conditions. for several miles another car had been continually staying in my blind spot in the lane immediately to the left, despite attempts to clear with gradual reductions/increases in my speed. my general cruising speed was about 70 mph. i was in the right lane approaching a very slow-moving tractor trailer, so i accelerated moderately-hard to move ahead of the car to my left and was changing into that lane when the f-150 started shaking violently and lost speed. my wife thought that we had collided with something in the road. i quickly veered back into the right lane and braked hard, narrowly avoiding an actual collision. i suspected we had some type of engine or transmission problem, but while coasting the vehicle seemed to be running smoothly. i switched from 4wd-auto to 2wd and tried to gently accelerate again, but the f-150 started shaking again and the check-engine light started flashing. i pulled off of the road, and by the time i came to a stop the light had stopped flashing. i checked all around and under the vehicle, under hood, gauges, etc. with no further sign of a problem. i stopped and started the engine, then drove away and the f-150 performed normally for remainder of trip to louisville, ky. the next day i took the f-150 to a local dealer, who advised that i had experienced the "classic scenario" for condensation in the charge-air cooler, causing engine misfires. the f-150 is getting very poor gas mileage ever since. home dealer has declined service because obd codes are no longer present. engine: 3.5l gtdi (ecoboost). *tr

Under non-tow situations truck will shudder/misfire during hard acceleration. acceleration does not have to be wot. weather conditions can be hot and sunny or cloudy, raining and humid. truck did not start doing this until 60,000 + miles. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost power and failed to accelerate. the contact had to restart the vehicle in order for it to resume normal function. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000. the consumer stated both incidents occurred at highway speeds when it wac actively raining or had been raining when it was very humid. the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem, because there were no codes stored. updated 01/13/15

Using truck to pull approx. 5000 lb travel trailer for camping. we had been driving for about 45 mins since last stop, 15 min bathroom break. weather was drizzle rain that had been continuous for last 2 hours of trip time and there was standing water on roadway. i was in a 65 mph location, flat roadway, and came upon a small car doing less than 60 mph on the turnigan arm area of the seward highway (2 lane-opposing traffic). it was clear and i began to pass. as i cleared the vehicle i noticed a large class a rv had followed me to pass the car. i continued at 65-70 mph to finish passing and my truck started vibrating and losing power and speed, no lights or problems shown on dash. the rv that followed me was on my rear end and trying to fit back into the lane without running the small vehicle off the road as opposing traffic approached. i could do nothing but signal and pull off on to the shoulder of the highway. as i stopped and put truck into neutral and revved the engine it appeared fine. i waited for a clearing in traffic and pulled back in and accelerated with no problem. the problem corrected that quickly with out me shutting it off. the truck had no problems for the rest of a 250 mile trip. this incident could have ended up very bad and it shook my wife up emotionally. the problem occurred one more time on the return trip on 9/13/14. similar weather, but not quite as wet. this time when the problem happened i was in a passing lane and had a slight incline and a semi was dropping down in speed and i went to pass accelerating from 55 to about 65 mph, moving into the passing lane. as i accelerated the truck had the same thing happen. this time the situation was not as dire as i recognized it, signaled, moved back into the slow lane and then shoulder. other than upsetting other motorists as i slowed down no endangerment to life occurred. *tr

While traveling at interstate speed of approx. 70 mph, i attempted to pass a slower vehicle going up a slight hill. there was a shudder and then the vehicle lost engine speed. i went from 70 mph to 55 mph without the ability to maintain any speed, i was not applying the brakes. i could not complete the pass and had to pull over to the side of the road. if i tried to maintain speed or accelerate the vehicle shook violently, waking up my family. the check engine light came on and just flashed. i pulled from the driving lane and restarted the vehicle. the light went off and i was able to continue the drive, had to be very mindful of my acceleration. it happened a second time the next morning, again passing; shudder and then an inability to maintain speed or increase it. i pulled over this time the light came on and stayed on. i will be taking it to a dealer this week. i was traveling for approx. two hours prior to the first event. it was raining during the first event, the second event it was partly cloudy. *tr

Driving home from vacation we had stopped and were getting back onto highway , it had been raining all the way and when were merging back onto highway i accelerated quickly the truck started shaking lost power i lifted off accelerator until the shaking had quit and then eased back in and was able to drive the rest of the way home. the check engine light came on dealer showed it as a misfire. the current fix for this is to cover the first 6 to 8 inches of the intercooler. *tr..updated 09-24-14 *bf

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that after braking to a complete stop, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms as the vehicle jerked violently. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 34,148. the vin was unavailable.

During hard acceleration after normal driving vehicle sputters/misfires heavily, no recall or adjustment has been available from ford. extremely dangerous in traffic and is keeping me from pulling any type of payload because i am concerned this will occur. i now have 41,000 miles on vehicle and it still does it, forced to drive the truck only under soft acceleration. *tr

Back sliding window doesn't work, popping sound from the rear end when you accelerate from a stop.

This vehicle is equipped with the ecoboost 3.5l engine. while attempting to accelerate onto a highway, the vehicle sporadically and unpredictably loses power, seems to have trouble shifting gears and shudders severely. because this has occurred on several occasions while entering a highway, it poses a definite safety risk of being struck in the rear of the vehicle. complete loss of acceleration or stalling while entering a highway could result in a crash that could result in serious injury or death. *tr

Driving down the interstate during wet conditions my 2012 ford f150 ecoboost started to stumble and loose power drastically while pulling a trailer. the truck would only do 30 mph as it shook and stumbled down the interstate. this power loss made it really dangerous to get off the road safely without other cars and trucks being affected. the only way to reset the truck was to shut the engine off and restart it. this has happened twice to me during wet rainy conditions. this issue really concerns me from the safety of my well being and other fellow drivers. ford needs to take action in fixing this problem with the f150 ecoboost trucks. *tr

Driving to work on june 9 at 8:00am after a hard rainstorm, on south memorial parkway just north of green cove road, traveling about 40 to 45, slowly accelerating, the rear end of the f150 locked up, tires squealing, began to fishtail to the right for a few seconds, then released. i thought i had been hit from the rear, no cars behind me. temperature gauges were fine, the gear display on the dash board showed only gears 1, 2, and 3. gears 4, 5, and 6 were not displayed. i sped up and the transmission would not change, i slowed down and the transmission would not change, i eased the transmission into neutral and pull to the side of the road and put the transmission in park. the gears 4, 5, 6 were redisplayed. there were no fluids coming from the transmission under the truck. i eased back into drive and noticed a little bit of a shudder around 3rd gear. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership and they have told me that there was no computer code and it was likely to be a computer glitch and there was nothing they could do. i asked if it would be recorded as a complaint and was told no, that unless they could witness the event or there was a computer code, the complaint would not be documented....i escalated to the service manager, we agreed to drive the truck for a bit and see if they could reproduce the problem, but, that there was nothing else t hat could be done. obviously, if i had been doing 70 mph, the vehicle would have been much more difficult to control. if you have any questions, please ask. *tr

Each time we take off and come to complete stop we feel, what is best characterized as, a slight bump. vehicle jumps slightly at take off and after coming to a complete stop. it was barely noticeable at 34,000 miles but has increased substantially with 41,604 miles on vehicle. we called dealer whom sold us the vehicle (lade ford in frankston texas). i began to describe the problem and immediately "[xxx]" diagnosed the problem in detail and stated is a problem with ford f150s. he added that splines were at fault and were part of the power train but were not covered under power train warranty. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My two children and i were driving up hwy 75 north from macon when we accelerated to the next lane. the speed limit is 70 so we were just going to pass in at a normal rate when the engine just quits and the whole car starts to shudder. now i have had this happen at 19,000 miles and took it in to the dealership. this was only about two months ago. went in today before i read all the complaints about this 3.5 eco boost engine and the similar problems i experienced. it was raining on when we had this happen but it occurred before with no rain. as the truck stopped and shuddered we were finally able to get to side of the road and did not get hit by oncoming traffic. there are six lanes of traffic in this area. surprised today when i went to the dealership and told them what was happening and they didn't even know of the problems or have ever heard of it. ????? so based on what i have read i called back only to find out they have had issues. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. on several occasions, while driving or idling, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted into third gear and then back into first gear and caused the vehicle to slow down without warning. the contact stated that the transmission malfunctioned. also, the wrench indicator appeared and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the molded lead frame needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called autonation ford frisco at (972) 763-5523 (located at 6850 tx-121, frisco, tx 75034) where the dealer confirmed that no recall was associated with the vin and referenced the molded lead frame connector. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified and the contact was advised to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was unavailable. *tt *tr

The vehicle felt like it was losing power and missing at times. the vehicle gas mileage had decreased over the last few times driving. the engine light came on and stayed on. not flashing just illuminated. i took the vehicle to my local dealership the same day as the engine light came on. i was told by the dealership that the catalytic converter and vapor valve needed to be replaced. this could be a major safety concern if these 2012 ecoboost motors are losing power while driving.

While attempting to merge onto the highway the engine shuddered and the cel came on which put my truck into limp mode. since, under any load the vehicle shudders and goes into limp mode when there is any load put on the engine. *tr

24,991mi: misfire when accelerating while driving. no check engine light. dealer reported no problem found, no codes & made no repairs. 29,440mi: misfire when accelerating & going up & down hills specifically when in 4,5, 6 gear during both flat & inclined highway driving. this was while pulling an 8000lb trailer. no check engine light. dealer found misfire in #1 & 4 and replaced coils & plugs in #1 & #4 only. test drive still showed misfire, then replaced turbo boost pressure sensor. i was told that moisture had damaged the plugs & sensor. 35,214mi: misfire when taking off from a stop, during normal acceleration and going up hills.no check engine light. dealer replaced the drivers side exhaust manifold because it was warped. 37,164mi: misfire when taking off from a stop, during normal acceleration & going up hills. i saw this in acceleration conditions from 10-60mph without towing a trailer. no check engine light. dealer reported no problem found, no codes & made no repairs. 38,577mi: repeated severe misfires while going up moderate inclines. check engine light came on (first time this ever happened) & i had a reduction in power, could not get out of 3rd gear & my speed dropped from 65mph to 50mph. after repair had moderate misfires during major inclines while towing a trailer but no check engine light. 39,000mi: while towing a trailer, experienced series of moderate to severe misfires in waves be ok for an hour & then go into a series of misfires for 3-10 minutes. some were on hills, some were on flat highway driving. i had 5 occurrences where the check engine light came on during this drive. 3 of these were during a hill climb where i had a power reduction & lost speed. vehicle stayed in 3rd gear. when i would get a series of severe misfires, misfires were so severe (without the check engine light on), that i could hear & feel the turbo kick off & on..

Very cold morning, 3/4/2012, vehicle started by remote at 5:30am. approximately 10 minutes after starting, i went out, opened both driver side doors, put my gear in the back seat, closed the rear door, got in the driver seat , closed the door, put seat belt on, foot on the brake, moved console shift lever to r, when a very loud bang occurred. it sounded like a shotgun. i looked around but did not see anything. thought it may have been a window, but could not tell with salt spray on windows and darkness. i drove roughly 12 miles, picked up a co-worker who got in and asked immediately what happened to your rear window? i called my local dealer a short time later and was told to bring it in to be looked at. i could not do that until saturday 3/8/14. when the dealer checked it out, they said they would contact ford and that it would take 8-10 days for a determination. they seemed to be unaware of a larger problem than just my window. after researching on the web, i found that this problem is not uncommon in this model and year. on monday 3/10/14 after work, i got in my truck, only to have most of the glass fall out when i closed my door. it would have been nice if the dealer had taped the glass , i thought it was laminated. because i now had a big hole in window, i stopped at a glass company, to see how soon they could replace it, with rain and snow predicted for midweek. when they called to check availability, they were told that there were none available, that there was a problem w/ the driver's side blowing out. i believe that ford has known this for quite some time, as evidenced by web blogs documenting the problem and ford's delay or denial in taking care of the problems. some complaints have stated that children were in the rear seat at the time of the implosion. i would think that anyone exposed to the noise that it makes could be subject to hearing loss. recall ? *tr

At highway speeds a horrible shudder occurs. i took the truck in for service at 78000 miles, my warranty runs out at 80000. i was told that this was "normal for 157 inch wheelbase trucks" is there any help available for this? thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *js

When accelerating to merge onto 4 lane byway veh. lost all power started eng miss. throttle had no effect, coasted along in emergency lane for about 10 seconds. veh started to accelerate while still missing for about 5 more seconds. 3/4 fuel tank. ps was a auto tech. for 28 years with u.s.p.s. *tr

Lost power on secondary road at 40 mph pulled over to side of roadway stopped vehicle, stepped on fuel pedal rpm's went up slowly truck would not move. turned off truck and restarted, then i was able to drive to were i was going. on the way home truck lost power sputtered when i gave it gas for a few seconds and then returned to normal driving conditions. *tr

Jan 24 2014 . morning 6:00 am. my truck stalled on the elgin ohare expressway. i was cruising 65 mph. all of a sudden my trans or engine started to stall. i noticed the indicator on the dash go from 6 gear to 2nd. gear, my speedometer dropped to 40 then 20 mph. i took my foot off the gas, slowly cruised. then i put my foot back on the gas and drove to work at 45 mph. called the ford dealer made an appointment. drove it there after work . left it there for two days. they could not duplicate the incident. they reformatted my digital readout on the dashboard. deleted the numbers indicating the gear my transmission was in. therefore they did nothing but cover their[xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Truck was parked in driveway which is a slight incline. truck rolled backwards 30 feet while in park striking a bush in front of my home. this was duplicated 2 x at will to determine the cause. *tr

Since new my fuel mileage has been declining and i was experiencing a shudder, with no check engine light (cel). dealer performed a tsb and replaced the charged air cooler and reprogrammed the pcm. this left me with worse mileage and a noticeable loss of power. this progressed until 1-19-14 where i lost engine power and the engine began to shudder when trying to accelerate to pass a slower moving car. when i floored it, the trans shifted down to 2nd, and the engine shook and the truck slowed. once i left my foot off the gas, and coasted for 30 seconds, it returned to normal, unless i floored it again. no cel was observed until the next day on the way to the dealer. they replaced all 6 spark plugs due to fouling. i think there is water ingestion issue and that is what caused the plugs to foul. my concern is that if i had been in front a fast moving vehicle, i may not have been able to accelerate and gotten rear ended. *tr

Upon hitting the gas to cross traffic i had a sudden loss of power. i had to let off and hit the gas a couple of times in order to get the truck moving. this unfortunately is not the first time that this has happened and i have only had the vehicle a month since buying it as a certified vehicle. the dealership that i bought it from supposedly fixed the problem but apparently it is something that needs more than just a little adjustment and new parts. i have noticed through some research that i am not the first to have this issue. unfortunately some of the posts are people who have been trying to get them fixed but end up past the warranty mark before ford is able to make it right. *tr

I was travelling on a 4-lane, 65mph highway when i floored the gas pedal. the truck failed to accelerate as it should have. instead, it acted as if it was coasting. there was no power for several seconds even when i moved the gas pedal to different positions. when the truck finally seemed to resume power, it started to shake violently. the shocked passenger and i looked at each other, then i checked to see if there were parts strewn on the road behind me. suddenly, it smoothed out and there were no more issues on that trip. i had been driving that truck for about 10 hours with various forms of precipitation at the time. this was december 21, 2013. the second incident was on december 28, 2013. weather conditions were sunny and dry. i had been driving about 50 minutes. i floored the gas pedal again to overtake a vehicle and was barely able to overtake due to no power. again, i worked the throttle to no avail. the truck finally recovered but started shaking violently again. as before, it smoothed out. i took my truck to a local ford dealership where they told me it was showing no codes and that their techs could not reproduce the symptoms i had mentioned. i checked on nhtsa website and found this issue is under investigation. i do not agree with the service bulletins. my theory is that there is a computer programming problem specific to this direct-injection, turbo gasoline engine. i plan on trading for something other than an ecoboost engine, as this problem is dangerous. *tr

While in motion at lower speeds the transmission downshifts violently into first gear. it feels like someone has hit me from behind, hard. it happens most often while i am turning. it has happened many many times throughout the life of my truck.

I was driving to the eastern shore in the rain. when i slowed down to get something to eat when i tried to get back on the road the truck shuddered and lost all power. it did it two more times that night and then it did it again leaving the toll booth on the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel two days later. i took it to the dealer and they tried to fix it but last week when it rain i drove to langley afb and it did it again. contacted the dealer and they said to be patient and ford will get back to me when they come up with a fix. how can i trust this truck when it rains. this is a dangerous thing and they will not fix it unless you make them. i almost got ran into on the bridge with all the vehicle merging back into traffic. *tr
