Takata recall: my 2010 ford raptor with the 6.2l motor has been having a wrench light come on and i have had two quotes stating the neutral position sensor or transmission range sensor is bad. i've noticed that many recalls have been made on the ford f-150 models starting in 2011-2014. with my vehicle being produced mid year of 2010. i feel my vehicle is part of that recall. but doesn't show in any systems. my vehicle will stay stuck in a certain gear or not start at all. i can be driving down the high way and the vehicle will shift down to first gear when the vehicle is still in drive while going 60mph. it makes the vehicle reach redline on rpms and hard to stop the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and the wrench warning indicator illuminated. the contact pumped the accelerator pedal and the vehicle regained acceleration. the contact also stated that the loss of throttle power occurred four times in one day. the contact drove the vehicle to peoria ford (9130 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382) where it was diagnosed that fuse 70 burned and melted the fuse box. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

While on my regular commute to work as i drove onto the highway frontage road i slowly began to accelerate when suddenly my truck started accelerating on its own. so much so that i was no longer controlling its speed. realizing this i had to apply both feet simultaneously on the brakes in order to slow the vehicle enough to put it in neutral then finally i was able put it in park. unbelievably the engine was still running at high rpms even though it was in park. it wasn't until after i turned the engine off that the rpm's stopped. immediately after this i saw smoke coming from both of the front wheel wells. as i got out of the truck i realized that both sets of brakes were on fire. this caused irreparable damage to the braking system as the components had become extremely overheated. the instance of the engine running high rpms also occurred the night before. however this time my wife was driving. we were in a parked position after fueling up the truck and were getting ready to leave the gas station. my wife just applied the brakes and put the truck back in park then the rpm's calmed down. we just kind of dismissed it until less than 12 hours later the above mentioned incident occurred. coincidence i think not.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. while driving at 72 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly on its own without warning. the brake pedal was applied, but the brakes failed to respond. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. the vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to f g evans ford (270 us-431, livermore, ky 42352, (270) 684-6268), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.

The instrument cluster fails at start up not come on no speedometer or anything on the instrument cluster as well as sometimes it wont start

Drive shaft problem plus after running a few hours no runs

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. while driving at unknown speeds, there was an abnormal rattling noise while the accelerator pedal was applied. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (northstar ford located at 1420 miller trunk hwy duluth, mn 55811 217-727-3673) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator assembly (part number: 7l1v-3c247 b), valve assembly (part number: 7l1z9h465 b), and wheel hub assembly (part number: 9l3z1104) needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures, but did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 61,250.

Transmission won't down shift ,or downshifts when not suppose to, when starting out or slowing down there is severe shuttering from the drivetrain.

I was driving along the highway, at approximately 60 mph, attempting to pass another vehicle. when i pressed on the accelerator it got stuck, the gas pedal went to the floor and truck accelerated rapidly on it's own. i mashed the brakes to the floor and the engine continued to rev and over power the brakes. i put my truck in neutral, and after an abrupt jerk, i pulled over to the far lane as the tires screeched to a stop. there was no shoulder and there were guard rails blocking me from getting to the median and no exits nearby, all the while the truck is continuing to rev out. i shut my truck off with the key, as soon as i could, to avoid damaging the engine or transmission due to the high rpms. after we sat, stopped, on the far lane of the highway for about 30 seconds (cars flying by honking) i tried to start the truck back up and it wouldn't start, turned it over again and it started. obviously, this was a very dangerous situation, as we were on a 4 lane highway with traffic going 60+ mph all around us, my wife and 2 small children were in the truck at the time. there should be some kind of brake override for an unintended and out of control acceleration like what we experienced. i woke up the next morning with a crick in my neck, hopefully it's just stress and not an actual injury. i'm thankful no one was seriously hurt. ford, you need to do something about this before someone gets injured, or worse.

Accelerator stuck to floorboard. applied maximum braking until brakes faded and were no longer effective in deceleration. turned off ignition and coasted to the curb. after 3-5 minutes, restarted the engine and vehicle functioned normally. purchased this truck used and this was the first time the accelerator was applied fully. it will be the last. *tr

When i try to start my car all of the warning lights and theft lights flash and the vehicle won't turn. if i leave it for some time and come back and try it, sometimes it will work. when it does work it's only briefly, the a/c goes out but still blows air, the instruments including speedometer go to zero even when i'm on the highway. this is a huge issue due to safety and reliability. i've taken it to a ford dealership, they held it for two weeks and gave it back to me saying it was working fine. on my way back from the dealership, the same thing happened again. this has been a huge hassle and i've had to miss work because of it. *tr

The truck is 6/22/14 lunging and the wrench light and then the check engine light came on today 6/22/14. the same thing happened last year and it was the throttle control sensor. *tr

Filed a complaint earlier in the year about the electrical problems, and finally received a call back from the dealer. i took my 2010 ford f-150 in and it was determined the wiring harness was defective. well great...900$ to get if fixed. not covered under warranty. truck will not start without it. wow, i use to love fords... never again will i purchase a ford of any kind. thanks. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck as the vehicle accelerated to 80 mph. the contact turned off the ignition to stop the failure. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was advised that something had most likely became stuck on the accelerator pedal, as they could not replicate the failure nor generate a failure code during the diagnosis. the failure and current mileages were 43,000.

On may 8th 2012, my truck stalled while i was merging into traffic at approx. 55 mph. the vehicle was brand new when i purchased it in may of 2009 from gulf coast auto ford in angleton, texas. so, i had them tow it to their shop for repairs. the mass air flow sensor was replaced on may 9th, and i drove the vehicle until friday , may 11th, when the same problem occurred. the vehicle stalled at traffic speeds, died, and then couldn't be restarted! this second incident also resulted in my having the vehicle towed to the dealership where i am told that they can't find the problem!! it now starts after the stalling, but not until a period of hours passes. what can i do? this is a serious safety issue? ford is telling the dealership to put an on-board data recorder on my truck that they cannot even get from ford! i only have 52000 miles on this vehicle and have cared for it meticulously. *tt

As i was traveling on i-95 today at 1pm at 75mph my truck suddenly jerked me forward as i let off accelerator it downshifted from 6th to first violently locking me rear brakes up and fishtailing me into the shoulder. the car then stalled and i coasted safely to a stop. the car would start back up and run but i called roadside assistance and was towed to the dealer/ this was a very scary and dangerous situation. had it been raining or wet conditions i would have been in a serious accident and even died. i do not want to understate this occurrence. this had to be looked in to immediately. *tr

While breaking to stop at an intersection the truck unintentionally accelerates and will not stop. the abs brake pulsations continued walking the f150 into the intersection as the engine rpms climbes. i put it in neutral, the engine revves very high, i released the brake and then slammed it back down. the rpms drop to normal and the truck stoppes. it has done this once every year since 2011. it shows no trouble codes and won't do it for the ford service technicians. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. the contact was driving approximately 45 mph an attempting to pass another vehicle when the accelerator pedal became stuck and pinned to the floor mat as the vehicle continued to accelerate. he then used his feet to release the floor mat from the accelerator pedal. the contact stated he had experienced the failure several times over a course of three months. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised him that there was nothing they could do because of liability reasons. he was advised by the dealer that they could not alter the vehicle. the contact stated that there was a hole in the floor mat where a hook was supposed to secure the mat to the floor but there was no retainer clip in the floor board of the vehicle to secure the floor mat. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 9,900. updated 11/03/11*lj updated 11/14/11

I have a 2010 ford f150 crew cab truck. an incident happened around 3:30pm on 4 24 2010. the vehicle only had 1700 miles on it at the time. the accelerator pedal stuck to the floor under normal driving conditions. i had to slam on the brakes and the vehicle increased speed.the motor revved up to 7000rpm. i eventually put it into park and turned off the ignition. i was able to get the vehicle off the road into a parking lot. fortunately, i was not injured and no accident occurred. i called roadside assistance and the vehicle was towed to maroone ford in margate, fl. it was looked at by the service department on 4 26 2010. they inspected the vehicle and road tested it for only 4 miles and said no problem could be found. they called me later that afternoon and to pick up my vehicle in the morning. i did not feel safe at all driving the vehicle! i did not feel that they took this incident seriously. i decided to get a second opinion from another dealership. i took the truck to sawgrass ford in sunrise, florida (where i purchased the vehicle) where the head of the service department personally took care of me. he understood my concern and said that he would thoroughly check out the vehicle. they kept the truck for 4 days, test drove it for over 125 miles, ran all computerized tests, and also pulled off all wheels and checked the brakes. they could not replicate the incident. when picking up the vehicle, the service manager assured me the vehicle was safe. he also admitted that this had occurred in other f150 trucks, but said they had never treated the problem at their dealership. as of now, i have been driving the vehicle for two weeks without incident. i wanted to document what happened to me should this type of incident occur again. *tr

Hi, on monday, january 25, 2010, i test drove a 2010 ford 150 supercrew 2wd pickup truck (with the salesman). a few feet out of the dealer lot i floored the accelerator to see what kind of acceleration the vehicle had. after releasing my foot completely from the accelerator and applying the brake, i noted that the accelerator was still acting as if it was about half way down. i mentioned to the salesman that the gas pedal was still down despite my foot being off of it and on the brake. i then removed my foot from the brake and kicked on the floor mat area (i did not remove my eyes from the road) with the heal of my foot in a rearward motion. subsequently the stuck accelerator became unstuck. i really don't know if the floor mat was interfering with the pedal or not, i just know that it was stuck down and post my actions it was not. i am reporting this because i would feel awful if i said nothing and then someone lost their life because of a potential design flaw. tw*

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but failed to respond.in addition, there was an abnormal banging noise and the vehicle would shift into gear. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 200.
