Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2005 Ford F-150

Driving down the road at about 30 mph i heard wind blowing into my 2005 ford f-150 and noticed that the right rear window had fell down about half way i tried to roll up the window with no success. i had to tape the window so that it would stay in the up position. the truck only has about 30,000 miles and this is the second window i have had to repair. this was very troubling to me that my window could just fall down with no one pushing the button or anything. i wondered what if my truck was just parked in a parking lot and this occurred someone could easily steal everything in my vehicle. i looked on the internet to see if anyone else was having this problem and found thousands of people have had the same problem. the window regulators on the 2004 and 2005 f-150's are faulty and dangerous. and it is time that someone make ford take responsibility for their faulty equipment. *tr

Within the last four months (shortly after the 3 year warranty expiration) three of four power window regulators have failed in my f-150. the dealer indicates that this is one of the most common repair actions for f-150's. this is clearly a well documented and complained about product deficiency that is also a major safety hazard because when the failures occur the window drops into the door panel. my most recent failure which occurred last week was during a serious rain storm with my child sitting at the rear passenger window when it failed and fell into the door panel. *tr

Driver's side window fell down inside door while car was parked. *tr

Window regulator failure on my 2005 f150. 2 failures in the last 8 months. paid ford 332.00 dollars to fix, each. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150 purchased brand new in 2005. the front windshield completely lost its seal. while driving at speeds of less than 30 mph, he heard five loud banging noises in front of the windshield. the dealer stated that the installation of the windshield was not ford manufactured and would not assist with the repair costs. the vehicle was purchased brand new from a ford dealer and has not had any repairs to the windshield. the failure and current mileages were less than 47,197.

Passenger side electric window on our 2005 ford f-150 supercab simply fell down while my wife was working. we rarely use the passenger window at all. i have read a plethora of such occurrences on www.carcomplaints.com. i feel this is a safety issue. the windows can fall at any time - even when the vehicle is parked. imagine being broken down in a very frigid place and trying to stay warm and bang - a window simply falls down. this should warrant an immediate recall. the parts that fail are cheap plastic clips used to guide cables with a lot of torque/tension on them. thank you very much. ronnie pierce *tr

I have changed the window control switch, window motor and now have to change the window regulator for the same window. the cheap plastic piece broke. that is on one window, not counting the other three windows that have had parts replaced already. *tr

At 47,296 miles the right rear window of my ford f150 crew cab fell down into the door and would no longer operate. i paid 416.00 to repair at a ford dealership. at 48312 the left rear window has fallen inside the door and will not operate. i will be facing another 400+ in repairs. *tr

Broken power window. *tr

My passenger window fell down inside the door frame. this is the second time this has happened. the first time i was going down the highway and the drivers window fell down in the door. it was pouring out an i couldn't see where i was going with the rain blowing inside. i pushed the window up button and nothing happened. i took it to the dealer and it was 240.00 to get fixed. im lucky it wasn't raining this time. i hope ford motor is looking at this issue. this is a real safety concern while driving in bad weather, just to have the window fall down with no warning!! thanks. *tr

My 2005 ford f150 just dropped the driver side window down into the door due to the poorly designed faulty window regulator. from searching the web this is a well known defect that is abundant in f150's. this is a safety hazard as this happened in rush hour traffic and i thought i had been shot at and drove off the road into a ditch and banged my shoulder. this is well known to be an issue and is a major safety hazard. this needs to be recalled before someone gets killed! *tr

This has happened two times now. while driving, i hear loud pop or bang and then the window will fall into the door. this has happened on the passenger side and drivers side. this nearly caused an accident because i thought someone was shooting at me. it startled me quite badly. ford should be required to issue a recall on these window regulators. parts are available to repair, but the repair does not permanently fix the problem. this is dangerous because most people cover the window with plastic while waiting for the repair. if they can't afford the repair they may drive around for weeks or months with a plastic window that completely blocks visibility. *tr

On october 30, 2008 i went over a speed bump and heard a loud bang. when i stopped my truck i noticed my front passenger window was slowly coming down by itself. another broken window regulator thanks to ford. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while driving approximately 40 mph on normal road conditions, the front passenger side power window released in a downward position without assistance. the incident occurred without warning. the contact is in the process of taking the vehicle to an authorized dealer for repair. he was concerned of the safety risk involved. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 28,000.

Another window drops down inside my door. this is definitely due to faulty equipment. ford used cheap plastic on their window regulators that is not suitable for the purpose. *tr

My wife went out this morning to take the kids to school and the drivers side window has fallen down in the door. we are still trying to get a hold of the nearest ford dealership to get this fixed. i have read several forums that say this is a common occurrence. why is this not a recall? *tr

Windows failure, will not go up. *tr

The driver side window of my 2005 ford f-150 super crew made a loud popping noise then fell into the door, all when i pressed the button to roll it up. it had been locking up for several days on and off. cost to repair is about $300, so until i can afford it, the window is held in place with vice-grips. local ford dealership tells me that haven't heard of any such problems with this model, but i have found hundreds of complaints just like mine on the internet simply by typing "2005 ford f-150 window problems" into google. *tr

2005 ford f-150 super crew pickup window regulators break (quite commonly), causing the window to no longer have any support. the window then can fall abruptly at any time, including while driving the vehicle. when this happens, the driver tends to think that the vehicle has gotten hit by something large, and swerves to avoid it. this can result in driving off of the road or into oncoming traffic. ford denies that the window regulators are not fit for their intended purpose, and refuses to release a properly engineered part. a cursory examination of the regulator will show that it is not designed to handle the loads and stresses that exist in the window system. replacing the part with the current design only starts the clock over on when the window will fall again. after-market regulators are not available. please insist that ford recall these faulty window regulators and replace them with properly engineered units that will not fail in such an abrupt way. *tr

Was sitting idle in a parking lot when suddenly i heard a loud pop. when i started to roll my window down on my 2005 ford f150 super cab, the window dropped down and sounded like broken glass. after removing the panel i saw the cable messed up. then after googling to find an answer, i discovered that this is the exact problem that dozens, perhaps hundreds of others are experiencing with the power window regulator. the plastic clip breaks and the cable gets messed up. ford is making a killing off owners by using cheap, breakable parts. this should be recalled! i have no money to replace this regulator right now, so i am at the mercy of the gods in hope that someone doesn't steal my truck, or it doesn't rain, since with this part broken the window will not stay up. please push this through for a recall! *tr

The window control switches on all 4 doors of my 2005 ford f150 crew cab xlt have quit working. and dealers tell me this happens a lot. its ridiculous these go out and cost so much. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the consumer stated the rear window stopped working. then the drivers side front window fell inside the door. the dealer replaced the slider window motor on the rear window and the regulator assembly in the drivers side front door. the passenger rear window glass then fell inside the door. updated 01/07/09. *l's the consumer also stated the windshield wipers stopped working. updated 01/0/09. *jb

2005 ford f150 window regulator failure. *tr

Normal driving with windows up, heard loud bang and we thought someone had hit or thrown something at our pickup. then i noticed driver side front window slowly sliding down and finally falling into door. pickup is for all intents unsafe. can not put up window. i see on other websites and this one that this is a very common problem, and ford should be made to fix this with a safety recall. this happened 2 months after warranty was up with less than 15,000 miles on vehicle. totally unacceptable. *tr

The driver side power window regulator has failed and the window will not roll up. it happened while i was out of town and it was raining. this is a huge safety risk. apparently, after doing very little research on the internet, there are a lot of folks having the same problems. not only did this leave my vehicle open to the elements, it also left it open to anyone who wanted to help themselves to the vehicle or it's contents. i am very concerned that this will happen again. *tr

2005 ford f150 lariat supercrew 4 door truck-failed power window regulator on passenger side door. power window switch was being used to raise window and the glass fell into the door panel making a loud bang. the noise was loud and i believed the glass had broken due to the noise. the window would no longer operate. the truck is only used for pleasure driving on occasion. the windows are seldom operated as air-conditioning is typically used. , the dealership service department is scheduled to repair this second failure in less than one month. problem is not unique to my truck. i have filed complaint with ford. *tr

I have been changing out my regulators for my f-150 5.4 liter xlt 2005 since 2008. total amount of times is up to three and today 08-16-2010 my driver side window is now stuck in the down position. coming home from work driving the speed limit on the highway today i was rolling down my window and then heard a crack and then it wouldn't roll back up. well i knew what the sound ment because i have had to change all the other three windows in my truck and heard the same noise when it happened to them. total amount of money spent on just the first three window regulators and labor $1,062.54, that's not counting what i'm about to spend the forth time on my drivers side window. i was told and on the receipts it has replaced with new parts, did not see the old parts that were taken out though. this is getting old, is there anybody out there that can stop this. i know that i'm not the only one that this is effecting. *tr

Window regulator-early failure-ford would do nothing. after reading many blogs-it's a real big problem. ford is charging 350-or so to repair over and over again, many people have had 4-6 repairs on the same vehicle with 40,00 miles on them, ford refuses to stand behind. *tr

Failure of window motor regulator on drivers side vehicle is only 3 years old. *tr

Window controller fails with a loud banging noise. the noise is so distracting that it causes a possible accident situation. i was pulling a trailer at the time and the swerving caused fish tailing. there are thousands of documented failures of the ford window controller in 2005 vehicles and ford won't recall without nhtsa requiring it. *tr

2005 ford f150 lariat supercrew 4 door truck-failed power window regulator on driver side door. power window switch was being used to raise window and the glass fell into the door panel making a loud bang. the noise was loud and i believed the glass had broken due to the noise. the window would no longer operate. the failure was a total shock. the truck is only used for pleasure driving on occasion. the windows are seldom operated as air-conditioning is typically used. , the dealership service department repaired regulator at a total cost of $259.50 and the problem is not unique to my truck and indicated i should pass my complaint on to ford. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while driving approximately 40 mph, the rear passenger side power window rolled up and down without assistance. suddenly, the glass shattered while the window was in operation. there were no prior warnings or injuries. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the technician replaced the window regulator. the failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 16,323.

I had an incident with my 2005 ford f-150 window regulator in which the passenger side window just dropped down inside the door while the vehicle was parked in march of 2008. because it was still under warranty, i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the window regulator. i asked the service manager what caused the window just to drop down inside the door while the vehicle was parked and he stated that they were having problems with the window regulators in the '04 and '05 f-150's. at that time i told him that i wanted the other window regulators replaced. he asked if i had any problems with the other ones and i replied that i had not yet. he said there was nothing they could do. i explained my concern being that the truck would be out of warranty in 3 months and that i wanted it to be fixed while still under warranty. he told me that if i did have a problem and it was due to faulty equipment, they would replace it. twenty four days after my warranty expired the driver side window dropped down inside the door while driving on the road. i was not winding it up or down, it just dropped down inside the door with a loud crash. it scared the heck out of me and i almost hit the median guard rail. i pulled off the road to see what happened. i could see the top of the window through the opening and figured it was the problem with this window regulator. when i called the dealership, they stated that because the truck was out of warranty, there was nothing they could do. i explained that this is faulty equipment and they told me to take it up with ford. i have written ford customer service on ten different occasions and only ever received one response. they asked what i wanted done and i replied that i just wanted it replaced. it has been almost 2 months now and i have received no other responses from ford and my window is still not fixed. i have had to drive in rain and 110 degree temperatures without a driver's side window. window regulator problem. *tr

2005 ford f150 supercrew 4 door truck-failed power window regulator (passenger side door/third regulator failure on this truck, different window). driving down the road when i and my wife hear a loud bang. she is afraid as the noise was loud and for the moment we could not be sure that something had not been thrown or shot at my truck. as i tried to understand the problem, i remembered the other regulator failures and then noticed the passenger side window next to my wife falling into the door. this had happened before so i knew what to expect. the failure was once again a total surprise. the truck continues to be used only for light yard-related work and does not go off road. the windows are seldom operated as air-conditioning is typically running in the heat of florida. this was the third event for this vehicle. failure of window regulators and the window falling into the door presents an extreme potential safety hazard for occupants (children and animals) in the car, as well as loads being lost out the window. the torrential rains in northeast florida in the summer make these failures even more problematic. once again, the dealership service department rep indicated the regulator is a new part in the f150 and the problem continues to be seen on this vehicle. he encouraged us to report it to the company to alert them to the potential need for a recall. we did and ford indicated recalls were nhtsa's concern. the dealership replaced the regulator and indicated i should pass my complaint on to ford. *tr

8/26/07 front passenger window falls. 7/19/08 front driver window falls. 1st fixed warranty. 2nd fixed $100 deductible (extended warranty). continual recurring problem just after warranty according to internet. approx. ford charge $200+ and 1.5 hrs. (internet). 3 ford mechanics say 15 min. fix and a truck owner says 35-45 minutes in his driveway (internet). the faulty cable can't be purchased from dealer (for do-it-yourself) without buying window also (internet). this obvious defect seems to be a money maker for ford. this is not only an aggravation and inconvenience, but also a security (safety) problem. this situation can occur while vehicle is parked and driver not in attendance. upon returning, driver may find mugger in back, contents missing or vehicle stolen due to easy access through fallen window. *tr

Defective window regulator on passenger side front door. window fell down inside of door. regulator had to be replaced. *tr

I have a 2005 f150 ford fx4 , and two front windows fell into the door within three months. i have been told this is very common problem for this truck, that the power window regulators are faulty. when these windows fall inside the door i am left scared and very unsafe. i have researched this problem and found complaints all over about this same problem. what does it take for someone to address this problem? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the contact was driving approximately 55 mph and closing the window. once the window was closed, there was a loud abnormal bang. the window immediately dropped into the door panel and shattered. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that a cable within the door panel fractured. the vehicle was repaired. approximately two years later, the failure recurred on the front passenger side window yet the window did not shatter. the vehicle was not examined for the cause of failure nor repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.
