Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2005 Ford F-150

I was driving down the highway. i rolled up my window on my 2005 ford f-150 when i heard a loud pop that sounded like a pistol shot, then the drivers side window fell into the door like a rock. i then rolled up my passenger side window when it popped as well. although the passenger side window did not fall, the window regulator had broken as well. i took my truck to ford motor company and to replace the regulators in the passenger side and drivers side doors is to be $810 plus tax. i asked them to take my old parts and put them in a box so i can examine them and see what i forked out 810+ for. *tr

The window on my 2005 ford f-150 fell into the door. if this had happened in a rain storm i might have had a wreck. i have since researched this issue and have found thousands of posts regarding this very same problem with other owners of ford f-150's. *tr

I have had driver and passenger window glass fall into the door. the driver happened about 04/07 and it was still under warranty. now the motor has had to be replaced on driver window and a day later the passenger window glass fell into the door. also on date below they had to replace starter and fly wheel as the fly wheel, several teeth were broken off which also damaged the starter. *tr

Ford f-150 truck - rear passenger window suddenly fell into door panel and could not be closed. vehicle operator distracted by the drop but no accident. had to tape window and take to repair - told plastic pin broken but had to replace whole window regulator unit - $400.00. told a recurrent problem with the ford f 150. *tr

We have a 2005 ford f-150, my husband is deployed and the truck sits for long periods of time. on july 3rd, me and my daughter (five years old) were driving the truck when the wndow fell. what if the window would have shattered and hurt my child?? this window has been up and down maybe a hand full of times! this was by no way "an over time" incident. ford is opting to have cheap parts produced, while never thinking of the effects on the driver or passengars! reading on line, this is a very common problem. i think its about time someone take some action and stand up to them! what if the glass would have shattered and my daughter end up in the emergency room or something? then there's more out of pocket expenses, due to neglegence on ford's part. i'm already out of pocket 350.00 due to ford trying to save themselves a little money and producing yet again very cheap, '!@#$% parts!! *tr

On my way home from work one day while driving down the interstate, i decided to get a little fresh air so i rolled my drivers side window down. when i tried to roll it back up there was a loud grinding sound and a pop. after this my window slammed down inside the door. i was so startled that i almost lost control of my vehicle. once i got home, i took apart my door and found that the power window regulator had broken. i called the ford service dept only to find out the repair cost would be in excess of $300. i found the part through a napa dealer and repaired the problem myself for around $150.00 since this incidence my passenger side window and rear passenger side window have both slammed down. i now know the familiar sound of the window regulator about to fail. every time this happens i am out of pocket for $150 plus my time to repair. this seems to be a re-occurring problem with 05 ford 150 owners and ford should be responsible. i could have easily over corrected my vehicle upon being startled and injured myself or someone else. *tr

Drivers side window mechanism broke making a very loud noise. window dropped into driver's side door and couldn't be put back up. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150 super crew. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a mechanical noise in the rear of his vehicle. the rear window fell down into the track of the door. this failure has occurred with all the windows in his vehicle. the dealer stated that there was a faulty window regulator within the doors of the windows, which caused all of them to fall down into the door tracks. the dealer repaired the windows twice, but refuse to anymore because there was no warranty on the windows. the failure mileage was 41,450. updtaed 07/20/09 *bf updated 07/21/09. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while the vehicle was parked, the rear driver's side window failed to operate. there were no warnings prior to the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired. the front driver's side window was previously repaired under warranty for the identical failure. the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 105,000.

2005 f-150 window regulator fails without warning. had one replaced under manufacturer's warranty and another failed at 48k miles. seems to be a common trend amongst ford vehicles. i understand that this problem is not just limited to the 2005 models. also appears in expeditions. this is a serious risk for theft, as well as a danger to the occupants. most recent failure occurred while driving. it was raining when the window fell, making it difficult to drive. could have easily resulted in an accident. *tr

Ford f-150 lariat passenger side power window failure while driving down the road. *tr

The left front power window regulator broke allowing the window to fall into the door with no possibility of raising it back to a secure position. there was no advance warning, just a loud pop before the window descended out of sight. fortunately for me it was clear and hot (100 degrees) so i didn't have to contend with stormy weather. this is one of those items on a motor vehicle that should be very dependable, if for no other reason, security. i'm glad i was driving and not my wife. i had the regulator replaced at a local repair facility at a cost of $290.44. the old parts were discarded. *tr

2005 ford f150 lariat supercab...front driver side window fell into the door while driving..bad window regulator. *tr

I used the power button on the driver side door to lower the window and heard a pop. the window crashed down and luckily did not break. i tried to raise the window and heard what sounded like wires getting wound up. failure happened once. the driver side window regulator plastic cracked which hold the wire to raise and lower the window. the window regulator needs to be replaced. *tr

2005 ford f-150 lariat crew cab; rear driver's side window just fell. faulty power window regulator assembly; this is the 3rd window to have this problem since purchasing the truck new in 2005; not under warranty and costs $400 to fix; since this is the third window in 60k miles, must be a manufacturer's defect; many other f150 owners have had same problem; needs to be recalled and fixed with a better quality part; first one failed at 15k miles; second one failed at 40k miles; now 3rd one has failed at 60k miles; each on different windows. *tr

Rolled down front driver window of '05 f150 and the window regulator failed when it was all the way down. i've seen several complaints on this. *tr

Drivers side window fell for no reason on my 2005 ford f-150 xlt 4x4. i took it to the dealership and bought the part (regulator assembly). for 218.00 and i am going to replace it myself. *tr

Heard a loud pop sound and my driver's side window fell. based on my research on the internet seems to be happening to a lot of ford f-150 owners. this could have been very dangerous as the sound is very loud and could easily distract a driver. *tr

2005 ford f-150 fx4 - driverside window/door, heard a loud pop in the door and the window (in the up position) dropped to the bottom of the door. this occurred while traveling on interstate 235 in iowa at an approximate speed of 70 mph. this incident could have very easily caused a fatal accident. *tr

Rear driver side window fell down into the door while i was driving down the road. *tr

I heard a loud crack and then my drivers side window fell! i searched the web and found so many people with the same problem, do something! ford should put out a recall on this problem. i've found there was several f150 owners all have had this problem. bad design on these regulators bad window regulator on this truck in under 72,000 miles. ford needs to refund or recall all of these trucks. it is a very common problem; these regulators are defective from the factory! *tr

Ford f150 2005 door windows one window failed at 30,000 miles and two other windows fail at 70,000 miles at the cost of 300.00 each. there has to be a recall on door windows breaking down. *tr

2005 f-150 fx4 5.4l triton 43,000 miles while driving to work one morning, i heard a loud thud!! in shock, thinking something may have crashed through my window, i immediately pulled off to the side of the road during very busy a.m traffic. i could not find any trace of broken glass. i then looked inside the door and saw that the glass had just fallen in????? i could press the button and hear the motor, but absolutely no movement from the glass. two weeks later, with a 2x4 holding the window up on the passenger side of a 35,000.00 dollar automobile, me my two year and my eleven year olds in the back, were on interstate 10.unbelievably, my drivers side window comes crashing down and explodes in the door!!!! with the wind rushing unexpectedly in, and the loud crash of the glass breaking in the door, i temporarily lost control of my vehicle. knowing i had my families life at stake, i immediately gained control and brought my truck to a screeching halt in the emergency lane. from that moment, i have contacted the better business bureau, called ford and made complaints. according to the ford parts person i spoke to the other day the window regulator part# has changed now 3 times and he stated that ford never changes the part # unless there is a physical change to the part and he stated they have had "issues" with these regulators thus the change, he stated that the newest version has been beefed up around the plastic clip that keeps breaking off, hopefully the newest versions have corrected the problem but as you can see just by the fact that ford has changed the part # 3 times they know about this problem and now they need to fix this safety hazard on all of our windows. *tr

Ford f150 pickup. the passenger-side simply window dropped to the bottom of the door as i was driving. the dealer says it is caused by a failed window regulator. this is the second time it happened on this vehicle; also had a single failure on my 2004 ford expedition, the rear window where my (then) 4-year old daughter sat. it dropped clear to the bottom of the door and she could have easily crawled out. seems like this is quite a dangerous defect--the noise alone sure startled me! ford apparently has huge numbers of complaints on this defective part. *tr

Leading up to the event i noticed friction noise when operating left front power window. on the freeway i heard wind noise which sounded like the window had cracked open. as i reached for the up down switch the window dropped into the door. i was quite startled. when i got home i googled the internet to find numerous complaints on the f-150 power windows. i taped the window shut and am now investigating repair options. *tr

2005 ford f150 window regulators. window just collapses in the door !!!! *tr

Window regulator assembly in driver's door failed. *tr

Driver-side window fell into the door after closing the door. *tr

2005 ford f150 window regulators failure....i was driving down the road and heard a load pop, i was really startled as i was in heavy traffic and i didn't know if someone hit me or if someone shot at me. about 30 seconds after i heard this the driver side window fell into the door. a week later in heavy traffic and heavy rain the same thing happened to the passenger side window. i have the windows held up with a c-clamp inside the doors trying to find out if there is a recall on this item due to the number of complaints on the same issue. *tr

I own a 2005 ford f-150 and i have had to replace both of the window regulators with in 3 months of each other and i am out $550. after it happened the first time i did some research and this seem a very common problem and ford doesn't seem to want to do anything about it. *tr

Was driving down the highway @ 65 mph / temp 25 degrees in my ford 150 ( 2005 ) with my infant son and my drivers side window came crashing down. this scared me as i didn't know what had happened and thought something had hit my vehicle. after i pulled over and calmed down and realized what had actually happened i continued to drive several miles on the highway to get home. with temps at 25 degrees it was very cold for my son in his car seat. this issue could cause a serious accident as it's very scary when the window slams down and could cause somebody to get in accident. went to ford and they stated i need a new window regulator..... i noticed on the web that there is hundreds of complaints related to fords window regulators ........not good! *tr

Driving around with windows down in my 2005 ford f-150 supercrew when i tried to roll up the front passenger window i heard an extremely loud bang that made me think that i had been hit by another vehicle. took the door panel apart and found the power window regulator cable was mangled and it had broken free from one of the window slides. when i tried to find the parts online i came across a forum on complaints.com. apparently hundreds of people are having the same problem, with the same loud pop or bang which is very startling and could potentially cause an accident. several of the people wrote that they have had this same problem with more than one door and even several times with each door. local ford dealership told me it is because of the heat in las vegas and they keep lots of them in stock because it is a very common failure. i think it is more than the heat though because people all over the country are reporting the same problem. *tr

1. vehicle was parked. 2. side window failed - retracted and broke. 3. service garage replaced defective regulator assembly at a cost of $300. *tr

My ford f150 window regulator has went out on 3 different windows in 3 months. the window for no cause ie.. rolling up or down window out of the blue a loud "pop" and the window falls inside the door where it will stay until the regulator is replaced. i've been doing y research and i've discovered i'm not alone. this is a huge safety issue that needs to be taken care. there's clearly a problem. *tr

Within the last tree months (shortly after the 3 year warranty expiration) three of four power window regulators have failed in my f-150. the dealer indicates that this is one of the most common repair actions for f-150's. this is clearly a well documented and complained about product deficiency that is also a major safety hazard because when the failures occur the window drops into the door panel. my most recent failure was during a serious rain storm with my child sitting at the rear passenger window when it failed and fell into the door panel. although this ford defect is widely documented ford motor company is doing nothing for it's customers. the cost for power window regulator replacements in my less than four year old 2005 f-150 (each door has a different part/price each of which was over $400) has already exceeded all of my combined repair costs for my previous f-150 over a ten year period. i have been a die hard ford product buyer (pinto, tempo, granada, mercury marquis, ranger and three f-150's) but quality, customer service and loyalty to the customer no longer hold any value to the ford motor company. for the first time in my life i am actually considering trading in my ford for a chevy (ughhh) to avoid another window repair that could be applied to a new vehicle payment. one thing is for sure, after dealing with these f-150 window problems, if ford is not willing to correct their problem and properly support their consumers i will never purchase another ford product.*tr

Window regulator clips on 2005 f150 failed and window driver side window dropped to bottom of door panel. *tr

I have a 2005 crewcab f150 my driver side window broke. i had it replace because it was still under warranty but the then my passenger window fell out while i was rolling it down. i couldn't have this one replace because the warranty expired a couple before this happened. i see alot people complaining about this issue i would to see it recalled. thank you *tr

Moving approximately 35mph heard a loud pop and the drivers window then fell into the door. unable to close window. have not taken to shop yet. *tr

Driving down the road when my driver side window just fell into the door. *tr

I have a 2005 ford f-150 crew cab. in short, the window regulators are failing at a high rate, and yet the issue is no being addressed at all. how is this a safety issue, you might ask? the windows- without warning- will make a loud pop and simply fall down into the door panels. when you are in a rain storm or if it is snowing, this is an issue (especially with children in the vehicle). the loud thud is enough to possibly make one have an accident on the road. ford has yet to issue a technical service bulletin or formal recall for this issue. someone needs to lobby on the behalf of safety or a class action lawsuit should be initiated.... please advise. *tr

For the past year i have been hearing a popping or clicking type noise coming from my front driver side window of my 2005 ford f-150, i didn't think anything of it, 2 days ago i got into my truck shut the door, "bam" the window falls into the door, i hit the window button, nothing but a crackling sound like the window was breaking. i put plastic on the window and took it to the dealer. they said they have never heard of any thing like that and it will be $54.00 to take off the door panel for "diagnostics for investigatory issues" , $476.05 later, the regulator assemble was broken and needed repair. i asked for the old part when i picked up the truck, they said " the part has already been disposed of. part # 4l3z*1823201* regulator asy. *tr

The drivers side power window on my 2005 ford f150 xlt 4x4 truck suddenly slipped all of the way to the bottom of the door while i was parked by the side of the road. all attempts to raise it using the power buttons failed and it wasn't until several hours later that i was able to dismantle the door and prop the window closed. i feel this constituted a safety hazard due to the possibility of this occurrence in unsafe, high crime areas and due to the possibility of occurrence during adverse, possibly life threatening weather conditions. *tr

Windows suddenly falling down while traveling on public roads. poses potential hazard to occupants and driver. *tr

All four windows do not roll up or down. the digital instruments and lights on dashboard filker on and off. an independent mechanic checked vehicle and stated all four of the electric motors needed to be replace. still working on the dashboard problem. *tr

Intermittent problem with the passenger side window switch on my 2005 ford f-150 then driving down the freeway the window just fell down into the door. *tr

The cable in the window regulator in my 2005 ford f-150 completely stripped out. the part is impossible to find, unless i want to pay $330 at the ford place. i have been unable to find the part anywhere. many people with 2004-2005 f-150s seem to be having the same problem. considering i can't fix my window since i can't find the part; i have plastic taped up over my window and have to open my door every time i need to see out that side of the truck. this is ridiculous. i strongly recommend that ford put a recall on this part. *tr

Like many other people driving f150s i closed my door and hear a loud pop sound from my door. i first believed that the door had slammed on something, so i opened the door and looked, there was nothing. about 2 minutes of driving later my driver side window suddenly and quite forcefully fell inside the panel. after i got home i took the door apart and found a tangle of wire and window at the bottom. after removing all the parts in acordance with the chilton's manual, and reconstructing the electric window on the kitchen floor because it was 20*f outside i discovered that the actual defect came from the mounting bracket that supports the window and slides up and down on the rail was the reason for the defect. i then tried to find the part by google-ing "f150 window repair glass mount" and found that there was a whole list of other people with the same problem as me. i went to the dealer and of course the electric window kit it only sold motor and all for 199.99, while all that is defective is the clip which even as a dealer part would only be 15-20 dollars by my estimation. the car is only 4 years old with 37k miles. i'm a big ford fan but this is really unsat, especially with all the other people having the very same issue. *tr

I drove away from an atm went to put window up here loud ringing noise and window would not go all the way up. then a few minutes later i heard a loud popping noise and notice window had fallen into door and. would not return to the closed position. the noise was loud enough to cause grandson sitting in car seat in back of vehicle to start crying. if there would have been foul weather the inside of vehicle would have gotten soaked as well as a hazard of grandson getting injured from possibility of something entering vehicle through open window opening. *tr

2005 f150 regulator broke and broke window. i have read that this happens frequently. *tr

Every time i roll up the window from the driver side i heard a little noise like sand between the glass and the door so one day i was driving on the highway and the window fell inside the door and it was raining. the problem is the window regulator. there is a lot of people with the same problem . i barely use my truck and i always use the a/c so i don't know how this could happen if i don't roll that indow down often. *tr
