Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2005 Ford F-150

Driver window regulator failed and window dropped into the door. no way to get window closed without removal of door panel. very unsafe to drive with no window during inclimate weather. there needs to be a complete review of all the fails of this single part.

P/s window fell off track causing to be rolled up or down. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i own a 2005 ford f-150 super cab california limited edition bought brand new and now has 48388.9 miles and i heard a loud pop as i was at the light,i then looked around and rolled the window down ( drivers door side) and the whole window fell inside the track. i had to call a repair man to fix it and he charged over $200.00 dollars. i feel this is a safety issue (someone could get scared because of the loud pop or the window falling inside the track as your driving causing a distraction to the road and vehicles surrounding them).i feel that there should be a recall because of that and that ford should be responsible for replacing all the windows regulators in all affected vehicles including the other three windows in my truck before it does the same thing and cause another distraction. from my understanding as i was researching on the computer there have been already many complaints. The window regulator has broken in 2 of my f150 windows, causing the window to fall into the door frame. latest date is noted below. *tr

I have had two windows stop rolling up on my f150 lariat. it is a 2005 model. the truck has 43,000 miles on it. i have read many complaints of the same problem. must be a manufacturers defect. i think if i had a toyota, they would fix it. *tr

Front window does not always go up and down. afraid to use the automatic button afraid i will not get it back up. it happens almost everytime i put the window down now. *tr

I purchased a ford f150 xlt v8 5.4 2wd truck in july of 2005. since then i have had to replace the regulator for the driver side power window. i just had the last one replaced in october of 08'. it is starting to fail again. when i press the button for the window to go down, once down it won't come back up. i have to physically lift the window back up. this is a noted and constant problem with this vehicle. ford is aware of the issue but won't issue a recall or design a fix for the problem. in speaking with mechanics from ford, this issue started with the new model that came out in 2004. the 2005 models are prone to the defect. i should not have to replace the regulator three times in four years. this is an obvious issue to which i see no resolve. please look into the matter. *tr

I was driving on the interstate and heard a loud pop and thought someone had shot at my car, it scared me and with my response swerved and i almost had an accident. later as it turned out it was a common window regulator defect on ford trucks and suv's. they have built it with the purpose of failure and a high cost to the owner to repair this and no guarantee that it will work and not fail again soon. this should be a recall to all those ford's with this failure. it is going to cost just under $400.00 to fix with no guarantee. it is indeed a safety issue when it happens while driving at high speeds or anywhere around any other cars, not to mention the window dropping, who knows it could shatter and cause a severe injury. *tr

Window regulator on 2005 f-150 got in my truck, closed the door, and the window fell into the door. reading online this seems to be a huge issue. it is very dangerous and costly. *tr

The driver window regulator failed on my ford f150 truck. the window fell to the bottom of the door with no warning. replaced regulator. *tr

Your site shows a high number of complaints on the vehicle i own, a 2005 ford f-150, in which people are startled when a side window on this vehicle "pops" loud enough to be a gunshot, then falls into the doorframe. in reading their complaints you can see how lucky some of them where to avoid an accident. much less having to pay ~$400. to have it repaired by ford. this clearly is a design flaw that should be corrected and paid for by ford motor co. my question to you is, why haven't you investigated this matter yet??? *tr

Windshield wiper motor failure. my windshield wipers ceased to work during a snow storm. fortunately i was able to return home without any incidents. i was able to check the fuse and subsequently removed and tested the motor at which time i found that the motor is seized. i subsequently found that there is a safety recall for a similar problem on the next model year of my vehicle. recall number 05v520000 covers 2006 f-150's i have a 2005 ford f-150. *tr

I was driving down the road in my 2005 ford f-150 when i heard a loud pop, it was my drivers side window that just gave out on its own. now this same problem has happened to my passenger side window nearly 3 months ago. it a hazard for the simple fact that i driving on the road and it spoooked the '!@#$% out of me causing me to swerve on the other lanes. please have this part recalled immediately. it has happened to me twice and my older brother also has a f-150 and him too has had this problem!!! *tr

I have a 2005 ford f150 truck. the end of december 2009 the driver's side window fell down. it started with the electric window button sticking and ended up all of a sudden falling down. the ford mechanics said this is not unusual and could happen to all 4 windows. this is not a covered service for repair.*cw

I have a 2005 ford f150 and the window was kind of having problems going up. down was never a problem. then finally it quit going up all together. was able to disassemble and found the little plastic plugger for the rocker contact was all mushroomed out. took one from one of the back window switches to get by. *tr

Window regulator on 2005 ford f150. driving ia a rainstorm and drivers side window fell with no warning. almost crashed on the interstate. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while driving in a rainstorm at 65 mph the driver-side window collapsed. when the failure occurred, he heard a loud bang. he pulled over and then took the vehicle to a local repair facility. a technician stated that the window regulator failed. he called the manufacturer and was referred to nhtsa. the vehicle had not been repaired to-date. the current mileage was 53,547. the failure mileage was approximately 53,520.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the passenger and driver side window had fallen inside of the door without warning. he speculated that the plastic clip for the window cables have fractured. he has not contacted the dealer or manufacturer. the failure and current mileages were 55,000.

Window regulator failed while driving. loud crash in driver side door and then window drops to full open position. was pouring down rain and suddenly being hit by wall of rain and loud crash i almost lost control of the vehicle on the interstate. i did research after getting home and this is a well know issue and is the most common fix for 2004-2008 f-150s, all models. *tr

I have a 2005 ford f150 fx4 with a 5.4 triton. my problem is the motor regulators in the windows and switch failure. i stumbled upon a web site this morning and found that this has been an on going problem. why won't ford recall the part and fix it. i am afraid to be driving down the road and my windows fall into the door. i will probably wreck and up dying because ford can fix the problem. *tr

Normal use of windows. three of four electric windows have failed. one motor has been replaced. *tr

I have replaced 3 power window regulators, motors, and cables in the past 2 months. i have a 2005 f-150 lariat supercrew. all 3 times i have heard a loud pop and have almost lost control of the vehicle while driving. i feel that ford owes all consumers a recall to fix this problem or reimburse all consumers for money spent fixing this problem. the date that i am placing in the box is the most recent date that the problem occurred with my vehicle. *tr

For the second time the window in my ford f150 crashed down into the door panel. cost me $450 atford dealer to fix. dealer service rep told me this would happen when the vehicle was in warranty but ford wont recall and they know the problem exists. my estimate is 4,000,000 vehicles at least ,2004-07,08. *tr

I was driving home from work at 0530 when driver window suddenly dropped. it was the window regulator that broke. that wasn't the only incident all window regulators broke within a year after that and just recently the driver window broke again. so that a total of 5 window regulator that broke in my truck. a definite manufacturer defect.

On the f-150 trucks from years ranging 2004-2009 the power windows are failing due to a plastic piece that holds the cable in place. once this plastic piece breaks and the weight of the glass cause it to fall into the door. the issue is this, if the plastic piece is all that keeps this window up, it is not long until car thieves find out that all they need to do is put enough pressure down ward on any of the windows and cause it to break. this issue is all over the internet, and ford dealership are acknowledge that this is a problem, but ford seems to think other wise. *tr

I was driving my 2005 f-150 truck with 37,500 miles on it, when i heard a rattling noise coming from my drivers side window. it sounded as though the window was not all the way up. i then pushed the button to wind the window up and then the whole window just fell back into the door with a loud crash. i drove home and opened the door panel to see if the window was broken and it was not. i called a ford dealership and he said it was a common problem with the window regulator and that there was a redesign. i asked if there was a recall on it and they said that ford doesn't consider it a safety issue and therefore a recall is not required. i said that i was driving down the road at 60 mph and my window falls out with a loud bang distracting me and being 35 degrees and raining out and that is not a safety issue. he then said ford doesn't see it that way. i had to pay $333 to fix a problem that ford knows about. *tr

In the middle of a rainy night, the window of my parked 2005 ford f150 fx4 simply fell into the door, leaving my interior to be soaked. *tr

While driving my 2005 ford f-150 the passenger side window suddenly and loudly slammed down into the door panel causing extreme distraction to the driver. the power window regulator had an internal failure and failed to be able to support the window any longer. the power window regulator required replacement. *tr

I have a 2005 ford f150 pickup and the driver side power window fell down into the door while being rollded up. i checked online and found this to be a prevalent problem with this model truck. *tr

While driving our truck the driver side window slowly lowered itself and would not raise up. this was approximately 2 years ago. yesterday, september 25, 2011 about 2pm, the passenger side window went down on its own and would not raise up. i turned off the hwy i was on and luckily avoided a wreck. today sept. 29, 2011, i called ford motor company, told them about the window and the previous window being fixed, gave them my vin#, name, telephone# and was told there are no recall's and they are not aware of any problems and cannot help us financially with this problem. i told them, i was filling a complaint with them and notifying you. *tr

No real event, just pulling into driveway ,heard loud pop and passenger side window went down, and stayed that way. *tr

Defective window regulator on driver side rear door, window fell inside of door. regulator had to be replaced. cost $413.00. *tr

I own a 2005 ford f150 supercrew pickup. while driving i tried to lower the driver-side front window. as soon as i touched the power window switch the window fell all the way down into the door and became inoperable. after taking the inner door panel off i could see a mess of snarled cable inside the door. the local ford dealer wants over $400 to fix this problem. the service tech at the dealer admitted this was a problem he sees regularly and from what i have read on the internet i should expect to see the other 3 window regulators fail as well. this could be a safety issue as the window drops quickly and unexpectedly. the window could break or startle the driver enough to cause and accident. *tr

2005 ford f150, 18,350 miles. driver side window regulator failed when window was closed. loud bang. window dropped into door panel. online research and ford dealer confirmed a frequent failure problem. safety issue due to inability to close window. this should be a safety recall issue dealer replaced regulator assembly, cost $193.45. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150. the contact stated that two power regulators have failed. the driver and passenger side windows have fallen off track inside the door. the contact does not have a warranty for the vehicle and is required to pay for the repairs. the manufacturer advised the contact that there are no existing recalls and that they are aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.

Door to fresh air circulation in heat and air system broke, fell in cage around blower motor, makes noise as the fanspeed is increased. the only way to fix is to pull dash>>>. *tr

I own a 2005 ford f150. it has 63,000 miles and is well taken care of. july the 7th, 2009 the passenger side window dropped due to a regulator failure. i replaced it at an extremely high cost. then on august 28th, 2009 the drivers side window fell. neither time was i in a situation that endangered me but i was in a thunderstorm while the first window was down and not fixed. do you know what it is like to run along side an 18 wheeler during a rain storm. of course i pulled over and stopped. this is a dangerous part failure. the dropping noise is tremendous. scare the wits out of you plus the weather could make the situation worse. the really scary thing is they are replacing these regulators with the same thing that failed. look at the web about ford window regulator failures. there are hundreds and hundreds of them and then think about the number of drivers that do not know about this problem other than they may have had a failure and not know there is an epidemic. *tr

I was driving my 2005 ford f150 and all of a sudden bam sounded as if someone through something at my passenger window. the noise startled me so bad i ended up swerving into the next lane and almost crashing, come to find out; my window fell into the door and is now broken. upon looking into the situation i have realized many other complaints online about power window regulator. things like this need to be recalled and taken care of for the safety of the driver. *tr

My 2005 ford f150 has again for the 3rd time had a side window fall into the door panel of the truck. my understanding this is a very common occurrence with this model year truck, and since this is very distracting when it occurs i felt compelled to report it. my wish is for the nhtsa to encourage ford motor to recall this model year vehicle, and repair the problem. oh one last thing, the service advisers at ford has told me they are replacing the new failing window regulators with exact same defective part. *tr

I was just driving down the road and went to roll my window down (power windows) on the driver side and all of a sudden it fell inside the door. now it won't go up or down. i read over 1000 complaints about this same problem and ford refuses to fix it, they want over $400 to fix it. i own a 2005 ford f-150 lariat. this is dangerous and should be a recall item for safety from ford. *tr

Power window regulator failed on drivers side window and then about a year later on the passenger side window in my 2005 ford f-150 xlt 4.6l regular cab. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f150. while driving approximately 20-25 mph the passenger side window fell into the door. he stated that a year and a half earlier that the driver's side window also fell into the door. when the first failure occurred, the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the actuator and the cables for $150. the vehicle was being repaired a second time when the complaint was filed. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was 49,172.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. the contact stated that the driver side window became loose and fell inside the door. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the window regulator was replaced. a few months later the passenger side window exhibited the exact same failure. the regulator was replaced on the passenger side by the dealer. the contact has not contacted ford motor company. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. the vin was not available. the current mileage was approximately 75,000.

Windows fall out and crash into the door panel. *tr

Window fell down (from a fully up position) into driver-side door while in heavy traffic. sound resembled a gun-shot which distracted my attention from the road and nearly caused an accident. research shows this to be a common failure in southern and western states due to heat-related component failures. repairs have not been made at this time due to high cost of parts and labor. vehicle only has 36k miles and has been very well taken care of and serviced regularly. due to the number of incidents of failure of the power window system in these trucks, ford should issue a recall before someone gets hurt. perhaps class-action litigation would force the manufacturer to take responsibility for this obvious design failure. *tr

Window falls down and makes a loud thud. some people have reported the window shattering as a result, but mine didn't. the window support system fails. if children are then that seat, they could easily get out. in severe weather, the failing window mechanism could pose problems. *tr

Owner of a 2005 ford f150 supercrew 4x4. i cannot say that any particular event lead up to the failure of this issue. the passenger side rear power window fell inside the door due to a defect in the window lift assembly. apparently a cable came loose that supports the window and it will no longer stay up. this creates a huge safety issue for my children in the backseat, not to mention theft and weather concerns. as far as repair, i contacted the local ford dealership only to find out the replacement cost for repairs, which was close to $400.00. i balked at that having this repaired currently and simply duct taped the window up to at least prevent rain from entering the vehicle. i have not attempted to fix this issue myself (cannot without $200 part), but the part in question is still installed on my vehicle. upon further research, it appears that this is a very common problem with this vehicle and ford is doing nothing to remedy this problem. some owners have had 2-3 windows with the same problem. it does not appear to be a "wear" issue. i believe a plastic clip that holds a cable deteriorates and becomes faulty over time regardless of use. i would definitely not consider this a "maintenance-type" item. *tr

Window regulator failed, window dropped. *tr

1. while driving my 2005 ford f-150, i attempted to roll up my driver's door power window. 2. as the window was going up, it suddenly fell into the door causing a loud bang. i feared that i had been hit by another car given the loud noise. i attempted to use the power window button to raise the window, but it only caused a grinding noise and the window did not move. the window was stuck in the door and could not be raised. 3. i was told that the regulator on the window had gone out. it is to be replaced at a cost of approximately $400. ford said that this is not a recall item even though there are apparently numerous other individuals who have suffered this problem on the 2005 model ford f-150 (see http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2005/windows_windshield/power_window_regulator_failure.shtml). *tr

I was driving down the highway. i rolled up my window on my 2005 ford f-150 when i heard a loud pop that sounded like a pistol shot, then the drivers side window fell into the door like a rock. i then rolled up my passenger side window when it popped as well. although the passenger side window did not fall, the window regulator had broken as well. i took my truck to ford motor company and to replace the regulators in the passenger side and drivers side doors is to be $810 plus tax. i asked them to take my old parts and put them in a box so i can examine them and see what i forked out *10+ for. *tr
