We have classified the 69 complaints from 2005 Ford F-150 about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
Driver side window was in the up position but dropped into the panel while the vehicle was in motion. vehicle was taken to the garage where i was informed the window regulator was bad. window could have shattered, injuring driver and passenger in the back seat, or, causing an accident. *tr
On september 20, 2010, the window regulator failed abruptly while i was driving my 2005 ford f150 at 55 mph. the front passenger window fell into the door without warning. on october 13, 2010, the rear driver's side window failed in the same fashion. both incidents struck me as very dangerous with a comparably high probability to cause an accident. after this last incident, i reviewed the numerous websites dedicated to this issue and the concern expressed by many drivers that ford has refused to respond to what is clearly a grave safety hazard. why has nhtsa not addressed this issue? . *tr
2005 ford f 150 window regulator failure, loud snap then window comes straight down with no way to close it. 2 of 4 so far, 50% failure isn't too good. *tr
I was driving down the highway in my f150 when my driver side window drop making a loud noise. i almost lost control of the vehicle and my 3 yr in the back seat was very frightened. we were 3hours from home. i was able to drive but we hit a thunderstorm 1 hour from home. it was very hard to control my vehicle and i went to the nearest gas station to weight out the storm. there have been over 1,000 complaints filed and probably is only the tip of the iceberg. this part which is the regulator needs to be recalled. *tr
2005 ford f150 window regulator failure 3rd window regulator to fail. *tr
I was driving my 2005 ford f150 fx4 and traveling at approximately 45 mph when all of a sudden my front driver's side window came crashing down. i was shocked not knowing at all what was going on. i momentarily had little or no control of the vehicle due to my sudden shock and confusion. once i had realized that the window had basically just fallen from its closed position, i was furious. furious that something as simple as a window suddenly crashing open, almost caused me to crash into oncoming traffic, endangering my life as well as my wife's and others on the road. i know this may not seem very dangerous, but put yourself in the driver's seat and imagine your window being shot out while traveling 45mph. it was terrifying, and i am lucky not to have had a more serious incident. i immediately drove my vehicle to the nearest ford dealer. to my dismay, the service manager informed me that there was not a current recall for this situation and i would need to have a new window regulator installed. basically, the window regulator failed, which caused the window to crash down. after researching this problem, i have found that thousands of others have had this same issue (some multiple times) with either the 2004 or 2005 year models. this is absolutely a serious problem with this model and needs to be addressed immediately. ford needs to issue a safety recall now to make this right for the loyal customers. *tr
2005 f-150 window regulator failures. rear driver side failed 9/2009 (60000 miles), front passenger side failed 10/2010 (72000 miles). both failures occurred without cause with the window suddenly falling into the door. *tr
While driving on the highway at a speed of 55-65. i thought i was shot at causing me to be distracted from my driving. when i pulled over to see if i was shot or if something hit my car i noticed my left hand rear window was down in the door. this occurred yesterday 9/27/10. when i returned home i pulled off the panel and found that the window regulator in my 2005 ford f150 was not working. after inquiring about repairing this i noticed that this problem with ford's window regulators is an ongoing issue and that there is a number of complaints by patrons replacing up to four windows in one vehicle. this is certainly a safety issue and an insurance issue regarding accidents and theft of vehicle and property. these windows fall at any given time while parked or driving. this issue needs to be investigated for sure! when i thought i was shot at it scared me so bad especially in these times when you have shooters out there on the freeways and highways. these car manufactures are using faulty parts to these regulators for the windows and warranties and will not cover them as the parts are not warranted. i can't imagine someone getting killed or in an accident over a small plastic part in a window regulator. please address this situation. a total recall of these window regulators has to be addressed. *tr
2005 f150 just replaced the second window regulator in the past 4 months. driving down the highway heard a loud snap and window fell into the door. this is a costly and concerning problem. *tr
2005 ford f150 window regulator failure, i have replaced the regulator on the passenger side door now the driver side failed. i call ford customer care but they will not fix it. *tr
2005 ford f-150 power window regulators for both the driver's side and passenger's side failed within the same week. while driving at highway speeds the windows collapsed into the doors causing a loud noise. subsequently the windows would not roll back up. regulators needed to be replaced for both. *tr
I have had issues with a "clunk" sound when the window rolls all the way up. today as the window went up there was an even louder "clunk" sound and then the window slowly sunk back into the door. it was so loud that it sounded as if the glass itself broke causing me to flinch away. luckily there were no injuries associated with it. the problem is with the window regulator. apparently there are hundreds/thousands of complaints of similar issues with the 2004/2005 models. when i called the ford dealership and described the problem they immediately knew what it was and said that it was common. *tr
1. i was driving 35 mph home from the dog park and the window popped when i was closing it. 2. this window regulator failure has happened to my ford 150 six times. i have to take apart the paneling and place a piece of wood to hold up the window because i can't afford 400 dollars each time this happens. drive window once, rear driver side passenger two times, right passenger rear window once and the back window middle slider two times. 3. the corrections taken for past regulator failures is to get the piece replaced from the manufacturer ford. yes i have the bad parts. *tr
After closing the door in a driveway, the drivers side window suddenly fell into the door panel. the window could not be raised to the closed position. the window regulator with part number 4l3z-1823201-ca had to be replaced at a total cost of $553. this could have been a very unsafe condition had it happened while driving in bad weather conditions or while driving in an area where there is a concern for personal safety. *tr
/i have a 2005 ford f150. i have had to replace 3 window regulators in it. on thurs 9/9/10 the third one went out. there must be a problem with these parts. i'm waiting for the fourth one to break. it is very scary to be driving and hear a loud bang. it sounds like somebody threw a boulder at the side of you truck and then the window falls into the door. *tr
On three different occasions, i have had my window slam down suddenly while driving. once i was driving 45mph and once i was actually doing at least 65 mph on the freeway. it nearly caused me to crash twice. today my husband was driving and the same thing happened. after only researching for approximately 15 minutes, i have seen several complaints regarding this matter. many complaints posted on your site have occurred within the last 30 days! there are also several on google. is someone waiting for an injury or death before they take action?! at this point it has only cost my family money and nerves. i hope it never has and never will cost someone a family member. will your office be held accountable for not acting on these complaints? will anyone? or does an injury have to occur first? please make ford recall the window regulator! *tr
my 2005 ford f150 pick-up drivers side window made a loud bang when i went to roll it up. i was driving when this happened and was very startled, almost hitting the car next to me. i looked for a website to fix it and found they have several issues with their electric windows. add one more. *tr
Driver side power window is having issues rolling up. will roll down fine, but when i go to roll it up, gets stuck halfway through. i have to grab top of the window to force it back all the way up. i had this problem 2 years ago when truck was under warranty and dealer replaced free of charge. now i'm already having the same issue only 2 years later- i read a ton of posts on the web and it looks like this is an ongoing problem with fords and should be something that should be recalled. there are reports of windows shattering on the highway for being only rolled up halfway when the window would not roll up- also what if i get stuck in a bad part of town, like compton, ca and my window won't roll up? *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f-150. while attempting to raise the passenger side window the contact noticed that the window had suddenly fell into the door of the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed and one year prior to the failure the contact noticed that the driver side window experienced the same failure. the current and failure mileages were 65000.
When operating the power window of my 2005 ford f-150 there was a sudden bang and the window fell down inside the door cavity. researching this on the internet i have found that many others have had the same failure. ford has so far refused to do anything other than charge hundreds of dollars to the consumer for repairs to these failed power windows. in many, many cases as soon as one window fails the others begin to fail within weeks. i urge you to fully investigate and use your authority and influence with ford motor company to initiate a recall. *tr
I have a 2005 ford f150 with 45k miles on it i was driving down the road at about 30mph and all of the sudden the driver side window fell down all by itself no warning nothing. scared the heck out of my wife. it appears it is a common issue and that ford is aware they have the issue but refuse to do anything. it cost $450.00 to replace the regulator and judging by what i read this will not be the last time i have to do this if i keep the car. i have had too many issues for so few miles. *tr
Hi i have a 2005 ford f150 that the window regulator let go and the glass just fell down its the third regulator i have had to replace 2 fronts and one rear. *tr
Rear right window fall down inside door while i was driving on the freeway and the left rear window did the same thing in april of this year, i had the first one repaired for about $300.00. ford has a defective window regulator. *tr
Paid my toll for the bridge crossing went to roll up driver side door , heard a loud pop plus glass breakage and my window began to fall into the door. *tr
Passenger window fell into the door with no warning at all. i was driving at the time and it caused a big distraction. this is the 2nd failure of the window regulator on this vehicle. *tr
Twice the passengers side windows have just fallen, once in the parking lot during work, the other while traveling to work on the road. this is 2005 f150 vehicle, both windows are seldom used. my mother has a 2004 f150 vehicle, and both window in the front have fallen, both times she was on the interstate, which scared her both times, she is seventy three. *tr
Driver side power window fell down on my 2005 f150 ford truck. window will not roll up. this is very unsafe. after research i was able to get the new ford window regulator and fix the problem. the sad part it could have happened with my kids in the truck or on a trip or in the rain or desert with soaring heat. *tr
1) no particular event preceded this failure. 2) passenger power window fell down due to failed window regulator plastic part on 2005 ford f-150 fx4 supercab with 32k miles while parked outside at workplace. luckily the consequences were limited but could have been much worse, such as theft, interior damage due to weather, or a passenger safety hazard. 3) failure was corrected by replacing entire window regulator mechanism. *tr
2005 ford f150 extended cab fx4 i was closing my drivers side window when i heard a loud pop, then the window fell through the door seal. now the window is stuck in the down position inside the door. *tr
2005 ford f150 window regulator broke with window down ,safety issue. *tr
my 2005 ford f-150 front passenger side window fell in the door. while driving down a smooth road in a residential area i heard a huge crack, then the window literally fell in the door and would not come up. the crack sounded like a gunshot and could have resulted in serious injuries. repairs from the ford dealer are estimated at 400 or more dollars. *tr
The window regulator linkage continually break. first incident was the driver's side door, and on 7/14/14, the right rear door. by the number of complaints on the web, it is obvious these regulators have a manufacture defect that causes premature failure. the only window fall into the door when the device is operated. *tr
My complaint is in regards to the window regulators of my 2005 ford f150 supercrew 4x4. i have now had the front driver and rear right regulators fail due to no fault of my own. the rear right failure occurred last fall (august 2009) while going through a car wash with my family in the vehicle. without any warning, my daughter started screaming as her window fell inside the door. thankfully, there were no injuries, but i did have wet children and wet interior. of course, the carwash denied any wrongdoing and suggested i contact ford. in doing so, ford stated that nhtsa did not issue a recall, so they were not required to fix/repair at their own cost. not having the funds available, i tore the door panel open, slid the window back up in the track, and wedged a piece of pvc pipe to keep the glass in place. not a great solution...but much better than what ford offered to do. the most recent incident occurred saturday, july 11, 2010, mid-afternoon. my family and i were traveling to a community function. while driving, i heard what sounded like a shotgun go off next to my ear. our initial thought was we hit something on the road or an animal ran into us. i stopped and got out of the truck, but did not see any damage. at that point i didn't know what to think. we continued on to our function without any further issues. when we arrived back at the vehicle later in the afternoon, i started to roll down the windows while the a/c coiled off and thud...the front driver window fell down. i knew exactly what happened. tore into the door when we got home and found that the window regulator pulley failed in this window also. so, i pushed the glass back up and wedged another piece of pvc pipe. aside from the ringing in my ear the remainder of the afternoon from the "gunshot", there were no injuries. from my research on the internet, this appears to be a very common problem that ford refuses to address. i would appreciate your help and research in this matter. *tr
I am the owner of a 2005 ford f150 supercab truck. i recently had another power window regulator fail on my vehicle. this failure occurred while i was driving down the road at a speed of about 35mph. this is the second regulator that has been replaced on this vehicle (the first one occurred three years ago). when this failure occurs the window just drops completely down into the door with no warning. when this failure occurs while you are driving it causes a very big distraction to the driver and passengers of the vehicle. three years ago, when the first regulator failed, i had my vehicle parked (luckily at home) and i noticed that the window was in the down position. i recalled rolling the window up when i parked my vehicle, so i got in it to put the window in the up position. after turning the ignition on and pressing the up button, nothing happened. this time it was the drivers window. i am very fortunate to have not parked my vehicle in a public place when this failure occurred because it would have given anyone access to the inside of my vehicle. although the failures did not result in any injury or losses, this is a very important issue concerning vehicle safety. i conducted some internet research on this issue and it appears that other 2004-2005 f150 owners have had the same issue with these window regulators. i am very concerned that the remaining 2 windows will fail over time. on both occasions, i took my vehicle to the local dealership to have a replacement window regulator installed. one of the regulator replacements was covered under warranty and the most recent one was not. this repair cost was $220. i feel that this is an issue that regular maintenance nor normal vehicle care could prevent. this is a definite equipment flaw that the owner has no warning of when it will occur. therefore i feel that these regulators should be investigated because it poses a safety issue to the vehicle owner as well as other drivers on the roadway. *tr
2005 ford f-150, power window regulator failure. driver's side 2 years ago now passenger side. no known cause. first one replaced under warranty. out of warranty and not replaced psngr. side yet. *tr
The front and rear drivers side windows have suddenly failed on my 2005 ford f-150. the windows suddenly roll down and are not able to roll back up. *tr
2005 ford f-150 passenger window fell and cost 300.00 to repair. two weeks later the drivers window fell, haven't had it repaired yet. only 22000 miles on vehicle. *tr
Was driving down highway, went to let driver window up, the window slams up very fast, made this loud popping sound than falls to the bottom of door, it would not go back up or down, it really scared me didn't no what was going on. had to put foiled paper in window to keep it up. all you can here is something moving inside but window will not move. this could really be a safety issue. *tr
2005 ford f150 power window. two windows in two months dropped while driving and one shattered. *tr
2005 ford f150 window regulator failure. *tr
Window on drivers side will not go up, in a rollover, limbs and head could protrude outside causing serious bodily harm and or death, this accident has not taken place yet, i am only saying it could. *tr
2005 ford f150 - driver's side window suddenly failed and fell down inside the door. *tr
I was driving down the road and out of nowhere! my driver's door window slid/fell hard down into my door for no reason!! i didn't even hit a bump! not sure if the window broke at the bottom inside the door or not. now it won't go up. upon looking for the possible cause online, i read that ford knows that this is an equipment defect and potential safety issue but has so far refused to do anything about it. this could have happened anywhere, even in a mall parking lot where someone would have instant access to the interior. not to mention the safety issues, weather, etc. *tr
2005 ford f-150 window regulator failure - driving down the interstate heard a loud pop on the driver side i thought something hit my truck, the window fell into to the door. estimated cost to fix $420.00 + tax. after seeing the thousands of complaints on the internet something needs to be done. recall!! recall!! *tr
Window failure/falling into door: 1. no known specific event, car was parked when failure occurred without human intervention. 2. driver side front window falling into door and passenger side rear window failure. luckily driver side window has not broken/shattered, but has only fallen into door and did not distract driver when driving in traffic. 2a. after inspecting each window also found passenger rear window is loose and freely moves. 3. dealer explained problem is common and likely that it is the window regulator and/or components. dealer is charging $450 to repair driver side window. *tr
While driving my 2005 ford f150, the back window slid down. my daughter pushed the button to roll it up and a loud crunching sound with a pop followed. the function of the button is no longer operable. this is the second time this type of occurrence has happened, which has resulted in approximately $800 in repairs. the first time was over a year ago on the driver's window. *tr
Pressing button to lower window caused window to fall and crash inside of door panel. second time this has happened. *tr
Passenger window in my 2005 ford f-150 fell inside the door creating a loud bang while driving. caused me to jump and pull steering wheel to one side nearly causing an accident. investigation led to a broken plastic clip in the door that released the cable that holds the window in the up (or down position). i have seen numerous complaints about this event. ford has not recalled the problem as of this date. *tr
The driver side window regulator on my 05 ford f-150 failed in april of this year, a week later the passenger side window broke. the truck was just parked in my driveway, this doesn't seem right to me. i have heard many stories of this happening to so many people. something has to be done about this. this is a $400 repair and some of us can't afford this. please help us! *tr
Power window regulator failure on 2005 f150. was driving and tried to adjust window and it crashed down into bottom of door. the large "clunk" was very distracting and startled me while driving 65 mph. i have done some research and this is not an isolated problem. there are numerous accounts of multiple failures with this part. you need to put the heat on these guys to have this part redesigned with better guts because there is no doubt it is a defective design.
