Drivers door slung open eventhough it appeared latched when i turned a curve. it was 15 degrees outside at the time of incident. could cause an accident .
Frame is rotting huge holes in frame. vehicle has less than 110k miles
The frame is rotting on the in side of the frame
Frame of truck is completely rusted all the way thru at rear leaf spring attachment points. this will cause a total failure of the rear suspension and drive train.
Trailer hitch rusted away and broke towing a 26 ft rv trailer.truck has 140,000 miles and is in good shape no body rust.hitch is very unsafe and could have been very bad if it broke going down the highway.i have read other people having the same problem.i will be checking with ford about this but i think a recall should be looked into also see www.car complains.com,2005 f150 trailer hitch problems
The frame is totally rusted through.
Hercules tire recall 15t011000 included all trac a/t tires of various sizes for tread separation but not my size. my size tires 275/65r18 have plenty of tread however are suddenly showing signs of tread separation on all four tires. hercules was contacted and they said my tires are out of warranty.
Takata recall, i was parking my truck in a parking lot, i started the engine and put it on r, when i heard parking sensors sound i pushed the brake, put truck didn't stop and there was no brake. i put it to n then d to move it forward after touch for the car behind me. when i put it to d , the pedal hanged and engine went crazy to 4000 rpm and truck came like wild horse with no control, it crossed the parking lot and hit another car was parking in front of me in the other parking lot. after hitting the car in front, i succeeded to put it on p and turn the engine off. this crazy sudden increase in rpm and pedal stick and loosen brakes all in one second with out any warning could kill someone. loosing control in such truck for seconds is something scary and unbelievable. please check this gas stick and break sudden failure issue , as it is really dangerous. after the accident, the truck returned to normal operation without a sign for that instance crazy failure.
The manifold split and caused my vehicle to stall while completing a right hand turn. the truck doesn't want to drive starting from a light or stop sign. the truck is extremely loud. wants to stall while sitting at a red light or stop sign.
Premature frame rot. i took my truck to a welder after failing my state safety inspection because of frame rot. the welder said he has worked on hundreds of frames for 2004 f150's. he said he started working on them in 2006. "worst frame ever," he said. he couldn't believe they were never recalled based on how poorly they were designed.
Excessive shaking at 40 mph+ , trans fault light came on & off . trouble using reverse would jerk & slip. have replaced many parts recently
When braking springs made noise and it takes several brakes to stop.
The frame on my truck has split in half always been taken care of. ive had it for 6 years and it been good. until recently the bed has started to shake very violently. my dad and i have figured out that the frame on my truck has split in half! i did some research on this issue of frames failing. most 11th gen owners like me have or had this kind of problem. some frames have rotted out completely due to ford. this truck is very unsafe! and ive asked ford if they could do anything and they couldnt do anything. they wont back up their products.
Think i bought a lemon truck from ford after spending a lot of money to try and keep truck running but after all the time and effort i put into the truck it will only go in reverse and engin sounds rough .
The frame is showing serious signs of rust and rot. the vehicle is unable to be inspected with only 84,000 mile on it. disgraceful.
Frame rusted out with holes you can see through. truck now flexes and will probably break the frame while driving does not seem safe to drive.
Vehicle frame rusted out on both sides. could not pass pa. inspection.
I was driving down the road when my left rear window went crashing down inside the door. after doing a lot of searching on the net i found this is happening a lot on a number of the ford f-150 trucks, a cheap plastic part fails and the window falls down. no warning the window just falls down in the door
I was pulling a trailer over the continental divide with my family and stopped to get gas in leadville, colorado. as i was pumping gas i saw smoke coming from under my truck bed. i looked under the truck and saw flames near my spare tire. i stopped pumping gas and ran to get a fire extinguisher. after the fire was out i observed that my tail-pipe had broken away from my muffler. the heat from my exhaust had melted the rubber coating on my rear right brake cable. the heat had also melted some plastic near my spare tire. the mechanic in leadville who welded my tail pipe back to the muffler told me the melted plastic came from an evaporative fuel emissions system mounted near my spare tire. (bad place to put it if you ask me) my truck bed-liner also started to melt from the heat. i called ford to notify them of the safety problem and they only recommended that i take it to a ford dealer and have it looked at. i doubt i will ever hear from them again. i'm not going to pay out of my pocket to have this problem officially diagnosed. i guess i'm just lucky to be alive and that the whole gas station didn't blow up.
Loud rattling/vibration throughout the truck, causing tires at times to bounce and slip. opened differential and carrier has malfunction.
My truck felt like it was driving really well, i was driving from a to b which was about 6 miles. im almost home & i stop at a light, when it turned green i accelerated &when i did i heard a knocking sound&so i pulled over& i couldn't pin point exactly where it was coming from, just it was coming from the back of the engine on the right side. im guessing maybe the 3rd or 4th spark plug. i checked my oil i was maybe 1quart low. so hoping that was it, i bought a quart&some oil repair to go in with it. the guy at autozone thought the same. as u could guess that didn't work.it sound almost like a lawn mower.which is baffling cuz there was no warning, no check engine light,no prior noise.i'm lost.i've been reading about spiting spark plugs&a lot of the same stuff happening in these trucks.i'm wondering if there was a recall? if not why? if there are complaints from over 1000 people saying the exact samething, why hunt ford done anything about it?i use this truck to take my71 year old vietnam veteran grandpa to his dr appointments&use it for work.from what i'm reading no one is gonna help but i have to try.please let me know if there is any advice or hopefully do the right thing & help me work with the dealership i bought the truck from.my# is [xxx].thanks. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
We've had a lot of issues with this truck but the main issue is when we drive down the road it misses a lot and the smell of fuel in the truck. we've taken it in and they said a lot of other people have had the same issues with there truck like ours. please contact us asap.
During an oil change it was noticed that the left hand front differential mounting bracket appeared to have a crack pursuant with tsb 06-11-12. however upon closer examination it was shown that the damage was more extensive then the "concern of the left hand front differential mounting bracket separating from the frame rail." mention in the tsb. instead of the aforementioned mount breaking, a section of the frame approximately 1/4 of an inch around the welds for the differential mount on all sides had separated from the rest of the frame leaving a hole in the frame approximately four inches across.
I bought this vehicle used with 139000 miles on saturday 05/16/15. now i was not expecting a new vehicle but not one with so many problems either. first of all it has a very rough idle, i found that there is a serious problem with this engine and removal of the spark plugs. the repair shop will not even give an estimate for changing the spark plugs as there are very well known problems with them breaking off in the engine. ford knows about this and has put out a notice about this known problem. i had to take it for a lower steering arm replacement on monday 05/18/15 as the wheel was not returning to the straight position without assistance. now there is a humming noise from the rear differential that the repair guy said is the pinion barring and that it needs to be fixed. the dealer window sticker had everything checked as good and no notes to say there was anything wrong with the vehicle. no surprise there. after checking this web site i found an open recall for the airbag which was repaired. i also found all the reports of problems with this vehicle. my question is why the nhtsa is not requiring ford to recall these vehicles for the numerous problems that were reported from day one and allowed to continue through 2008. ford was allowed to keep building these vehicles along with others with the same defective parts for over 4 years. that is just wrong. i can not believe they are allowed to get away with this kind of crap.
To begin with i had to have all 4 windows repaired. the mechanism that raises and lowers the windows broke. since this was bought as a used vehicle, there was no warranty. so i pd. $150. to $175.00 each. was told ford knew of this problem but since it wasn't a "safety factor" no recall was issued. i feel like this is quite unfair to the consumer. we purchase a vehicle that has a good reputation and then are told that this expense is our baby to take care of. i feel like this was very unfair to this consumer. i have purchased fords for years with no complaints until now. also, the headlights developed a leak and filled with water thus shorting out my right headlight, and is slowly doing the same to the left one. i have been told that just the burned out bulbs cannot be replaced, that the whole assembly had to be replaced and this is at a cost of approx. $175 to $200. per assembly. this is outrageous. also, there is a problem with what used to be "points & plugs" which are now a "coil" assembly. this problem developed approx. 6 months ago. according to the readouts i have gotten, the #1 plug is misfiring approx. every 1,000 revolutions which causes a miss in the engine and was very alarming to me since i was on the highway about 200-250 miles from home, traveling by myself. so, another expense is looming. i realize there are expenses to owning a vehicle. i do not expect to not have any problems or repairs with my vehicle, but i did not anticipate this many. nor did i expect the cost of the repair parts alone to be so outrageous. i am on a fixed income and had i anticipated these problems i wouldn't & #8203; have made this purchase. i truly love my truck, but is there anyway these other repairs can be done for a lesser amt? i've already pd. to replace motor & rotors in all 4 windows. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. thank you. Driving down the road window just falls down. window motor failure. already replaced both rear window motors. have read on line thousands of complaints about this. ford motor co. has no plans to issue recall or address this issue. *tr
I leave my windows up on the truck. it is cold (winter time) truck was in the garage. i went to the garage and the window on the passenger side was down. i cranked the truck, pushed the button and the window would not come up. i took the truck to the dealer they said the front door window regulator had to be replaced. this cost $344.66 to replace the regulator. since the first replacement, the two back windows have done the same thing. i assume if my truck is having this problem others are also. this appears to be a defect and the company should pay for the repairs. *tr
Complete engine failure less than 100,000 miles. driver and front passenger window motor failure.
Two of the four window regulators have broke causing safety and security issues. the parts are expensive and defective. the last malfunction occued when i was driving down the road and the passenger window fell when the vehicle was parked. i heard a popping noise like somebody threw something at the truck and then the window fell into the door. my wife and i have two young children and this poses a large safety risk to them. these parts are obviously defective and should be replaced by ford motor company.
The left rear window, right rear window, right front window abruptly dropped into the door cavity. the service center at the ford dealer informed me that the cause of the malfunction is failure of the window regulators on all three doors. according to the ford dealership service center and my own investigation it appears that the window regulators on the 2004 ford f1 50 pickup trucks are defective. ford motor company acknowledges that the window regulators on the 2004 f150 pickup truck are indeed defective but they are unwilling to recall and replace the defective part unless your organization orders the recall. searching the internet i have come across scores of other ford owners with the same problem. there have been numerous requests for ford motor company to recall these vehicles and replace the defective window regulators. although ford motor company does not feel that this is a safety issue we ford owners do feel that it is. driving at 65 to 70 miles an hour and three windows abruptly drop into the cavity of the door it could and probably as been the cause of accidents. we urge you to petition ford motor company to recall the 2004 through 2006 ford f1 50 pickup truck and replace the manufacturers defective window regulators.
I went to start the vehicle, hand slipped off of the key, the vehicle would crank but not turn over. tried to restart the vehicle numerous times. unplugged the battery, left it sit for 10-15 mins (thought it was the anti theft). later in the day a friend looked at it, troubleshot it as fuel pump- used owner manual to look at fuses, everything looked fine. concluded had to be with the fuel pump or sensor. had to have the vehicle towed to a garage, pulled the fuel pump sensor off, there was a giant whole in the outer layer and plastic was cracked. moisture fried the circuit board. the part is currently at vrtc. i am glad my vehicle was at home and not somewhere in a parking lot or far from home. no real signs of this happening prior to not starting.
The third window regulator in my 2004 ford f-150 lariat just failed causing the window to fall. the dealership claims that this is not a defect but thousands of other f-150 owners have had the same problem. the first two fixes cost $450 each. *ln
I have a 2004 ford f150 with a defective window regulator. i already know ford has put in a defective part causing the windows to collapse and have seen many cases where this happens to people with fords. there are thousands of complaints that i read for the same problem. i do not understand why you don't push ford for a recall? its not right for customers to pay for repairs due to a manufacturer defect. *ln
2 window regulators in my 2004 ford f150 crew cab were defective. *ln
In approximately november 2009, as we were driving our 2004 ford f150 super crew pickup truck down the highway the window in the passenger door fell into the door with a significant crash. when we attempted to roll the power window back up it would not roll back up. when we returned home we had to wrap plastic wrap around the door because it was the only vehicle that we had at the time. i work 40 miles away from home and had to drive it with the window down to and from work in winter for several days before ford could get it into the dealership to be worked on. the ford dealership charged us over $400 dollars to fix this issue. later i found that this issue is caused by faulty equipment installed at the factory. here it is, winter time, and it has happened again. today as my husband was driving to the grocery store the driver window crashed down into the door. he didn't try to open it or anything, it just came loose on its own. this time he believes that the window has broken inside the door. i could not imagine what kind of harm this may have caused him or other drivers if it had shattered before the window made it completely into the door. this is the 2nd window on this truck. there are 4 doors all together. we are worried about what may happen when the next window assembly fails. *ln
3 window motors in my 2004 ford f150 crew cab were defective. probably 4 only 21,009 miles. *tr
Three of the four window regulators have broken in my truck, and let the window come down byself. this is on a 2004 ford f-150. *ln
Truck died, lost all power while driving down the road. this has happened 5 - 6 times through the years starting around 2010. sometimes driving down freeway sometimes driving slowly into driveway. battery was checked, it was okay and connected fine. various other engine problems later include a rattle noise and low rpm. running hot, chugging along like running out of gas, etc. having to pull over till it could go again. currently just a little over 100,000 miles.
I have had 3 window regulator failures in less than a year. my local ford dealer claims that it seems like bad luck. in one case, i was driving down a highway and the window just dropped into the door. in a 4 door truck, both front windows have dropped and the regulators needed to be replaced and the passenger rear window also fell.
I have a 2004 ford f150-lariat purchased in sept 2004. since purchase i am now at my third window regulator replacement. the front window regulators were replaced 3/2007 and 5/2008. now i am required to replace the right rear regulator at $400 a pop. *tr
While driving, my son sitting in the back passenger seat pressed the window switch to lower the window. when he did, there was a loud sound and the window dropped down. i found out from our mechanic that the window regulator broke. later in the year, i went to lower the drivers side window while stationary, and i heard the motor moving but the window did not lower. it finally slowly fell as i started driving and it would not go back up. again, it was the window regulator that had failed. yesterday, while driving from my place of work and moving about 25 mph, i accidently hit the back drivers side window switch, and i heard a loud noise and saw that the window held fell part way down. again, the regulator had failed. so, within the past year, three of the four window regulators have failed and i have had to replace them.
Had just rolled up front pasenger side window when i heard a loud thump. i was in heavy traffic and nearly @&*^ my pants. i realized the window had fell from it's track and won't go back up. dealership is closed, will be driving with plastic on the window. not good. researching this problem i see it is a major issue, and likely a safety hazzard.
I month ago, i had the driverside window regulator replace on my 2004 ford 150, today my daughter and i are on our way to the store and the window on the rear passengers side comes crashing down. if this is sa know defect why is frod not replacing them. someone is going to get hurt soon or later by this.
The window to the ford f-150 was down about half way. i pressed the button to pull it back up but instead there was a clicking noise and it fell down completely. i pressed to bring it back up but it was useless because it didn't function correctly anymore. this problem has occured 3 times: the two back seat windows and the driver's window. the first time it happend i took it to the ford dealership to get it fixed and was charged 400 dollars. this malfunction could cause saftey hazards. *tr
2004 ford f-150 slt supercrew 4-door...power window fails, window falls down into door...this is my fourth incident, once for each window...the fix is to replace the "power window regulator assembly" which costs over $450
Third time in 5 years power window regulator on my 2004 ford f-150 has failed. failure usually occurs while driving. window simply falls into the door and there is nothing you can do to pull it back up. were this type of incident occur during adverse weather, on the driver's side, serious consequences are highly likely.
2004 f150 super-crew ford window regulator/motors and cable/pulley assemblies. i've had three windows fall into the door after making a very loud noise while driving. this has cost me over $1,275.00
Window regulators failed
My third power window regulator broke. each time it was a different window. i had them replaced at the ford garage.
Windows would roll up and down normally with no problem. one day in feb. of 2010 my pasenger backseat window fell down halfway into the door. i could not use my power switch at all. in fact when i tried it gave off a burnt smell. i was told to replace the window regulator. i couldn't find one locally so i temporaraly fixed it by putting a heavy duty piece of cardboard in the door to hold the window up. no more than about 2 weeks later, my driverside backseat window did the exact same thing. so i searched online and found a new pair to replace the broken ones. then on 3/22/2010 while driving, my driverside front window began to creep down. i tried the switch and slam! the window fell all the way into the door. i can't even pull it out enough to tape it shut. i am truely upset because not only is this a huge inconvienience, but a safety hazzard. each window regulator is roughly $130-$145 depending on which side is needed. this price is picked up, not an installed quote. my parts are ordered and on thier way.
