While vehicle was parked a fire started under the hood. vehicle was totaled. dealership was notified, but not resolve the problem. *ak

Vehicle was parked when all of a sudden the engine caught on fire due to speed control switch had an electrical short. manufacturer was contacted by owner.*ak

The consumer was sleeping when the vehicle, parked under the carport, caught on fire and burned. the consumer's home was destroyed. cruise control nhtsa recall 05v017000. *nm *nm

2000 ford f150 caught on fire while parked.*mr car was parked at 7am and caught fire at 2pm. the is totaled and damaged three other cars. ford told consumer that they could not be of any assistance because there wasn't a recall for the vehicle yet, for under hood fires.*sb

While vehicle was parked for about 3 hours a neighbor alerted consumer that vehicle was on fire. burned for approximately 5 minutes. fuses #2/13, and 14 found operating. consumer stated that cruise control stopped working in the week before the fire. *ak

Husband parked truck about 12:00 am and at about 3:00 pm he saw white smoke coming from hood area on the driver's side. then , vehicle burst into flames. three days prior to the fire, cruise control stopped working. no other problems with the vehicle. will send pictures to bruce york. *ak

Husband drove to work 7 miles, parked vehicle at 7:20 am, then at 10:30 am received a call, telling him that vehicle was on fire. someone put the fire out with an extinguisher. vehicle was not totaled. prior to fire there were no problems with vehicle. bought vehicle used. tried to use cruise control, but could not get it to work. not sure if working or not. vehicle was insured by nationwide. adjuster george alexander 888-593-2432, extension 13, policy number 7709p499619. nationwide may have done an investigation. have copies of work orders to repair the vehicle, and will fax them to bruce york.*ak *tc

2000 ford f150 pickup truck with approx. 126,000 miles, caught fire in the engine compartment after being parked about 5 hours. fire location was at the left side of the engine compartment. the cause of the fire is belived to be the scds (speed control disengagement switch). fire damaged truck and edge of carport. *ak

2000 ford f150 caught fire while parked in the driveway.*mr the fire may have been due to a faulty cruise control deactivation switch. the consumer also has a 2004 lincoln aviator that has a cosmetic seat problem, which the manufacturer refused to remedy.*jb

Cruise control on 2000 model ford f-150 quit operating. found brake fluid leaking around speed control termination switch connected to brake fluid reservoir. was rotating tires on said pickup when i noticed large amount of smoke and small fire coming from under hood. pulled fuse from under dash to speed control and stopped smoke and fire. looked at switch that was leaking fluid and noticed wires had been melted. plastic (poly) brake fluid reservoir was also damaged but did not leak fluid. bought new switch from ford dealership and screwed in fluid block and repaired wiring with new terminal connectors that came with switch. i still have old melted switch and damaged brake fluid reservoir. *jb

While parked the vehicle caught on fire without warning. the cause has yet to be determined. no injuries reported. *ak the consumer was unaware that the switch was part of an upcoming recall therefore he replaced the part himself. the consumer contacted the dealer and manufacturer but neither of them have provided any assistance. *jb *nm

Pe 04 078/speed control deactivation switch fire: while parked in the driveway, the vehicle caught fire under the hood. the local fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. the dealer and the manufacturer were both notified. *ak *jb

Fire in engine compartment after sitting parked for 2.5 hours. fire started near the master cylinder. cruise control was not working since the purchase of the vehicle in november 2003. please contact fire investigator mike beres 214-946-8989. *ak

Consumer had a 2000, ford, f150 vehicle and from day one a hollow knocking noise was heard at idle, most noticeable when in gear at idle, or low rpm. sounded like a diesel engine. vehicle had been several times at different ford dealers, and they indicated there was nothing wrong, the service manager stated he did hear the noise, but ford did not know what it was. therefore, they couldn't do anything. *ak

The consumer went to the vehicle in morning and found smoke and fire damage at the front driver's side wheel well. the alleged fire occurred due to a defective cruise control deactivation switch. *nm

Dt: the contact owns a 2000 , ford f150. the recall notice issued specifically referred cruise control deactivation switch which could cause an under hood fire, and he had this repaired. however, ford stated that this part was not covered in the recall. cruise control in this vehicle never worked, and the part that controlled the speed control was out that was why cruise control did not work. *ak

The driver had his foot on the brake, when all of a sudden the vehicle began to accelerate. the driver had to turn the vehicle off in order to get it to stop. provide further details. *jb *mr

Vehicle was parked in the driveway and it caught on fire. the fire department was notified, and extinguished the fire. later, owner l stated that cruise control was not working at that time, and the brake light fuse kept popping. *ak recall campaign; nhtsa campaign id number : 05v017000 the vehicle had no brake lights. *tc

Consumer started vehicle, put it in reverse, with foot still on the brakes, vehicle raved up at high rpm, and burnt rubber. consumer had to apply excessive force to the brakes to stop the vehicle. ph

When trying to slow down or to coming to a complete stop vehicle will start to rev up without consumer applying accelerater pedal. also, when trying to put vehicle into neutral it will not go into gear until it stops revving. contacted dealer, and the dealer is not willing to do anything. *ak

Vehicle accelerated suddenly and unexpectedly, resulting in a collision/ minor injury. dealer was inspecting vehicle, and manufacturer has been notified. *ak *jb

When pulling up to a stop sign or coming to a stop rpms would drop down. but when starting again vehicle would shut off.*ak

Accelerator pedal sticking/locking up intermittently. vehicle been into dealer shop on three occasions, and unable to duplicate probelm. *ak consumer took vehicle back to the dealer where purchase took place, dealer replaced throttle body and fixed problem. driver window intermittently inoperable, dealer replaced window switch. *slc

When pressing accelerator pedal nothing was happening. once while pulling into an intersection, vehicle failed to move again. problem was intermittent. *ak problems seem to occur when engine is cold and idling, then pressing on the accelerator and the engine will not advance, consumer plans to take to dealer for repairs. *tt ea04006 has ifs.

Upon starting vehicle and putting into gear, vehicle had instant acceleration. rpms went from 1000 to 4500 without hitting the accelerator. this happened while foot was on the brake pedal *ak *slc

Unexpected and unintentional acceleration. driver jumped from vehicle. vehicle continued at excessive speed with emergency brake engaged until it collided with a building. *ak

On june 16,2005 at around 2am,while we were sleeping, i awoke to my truck alarm going off. i looked out the bedroom window and saw my 2000 ford f150 on fire. my truck burned. i contacted ford and they sent me a letter saying there was a recall and it was my responsiblity to take the truck in. i did not receive one of these recalls. please advise

Parked my ford f150 in the school parking lot at 7:30 am. at 8:15, i was called to the front of the building because my truck had started on fire and was being put out with a fire extinguisher by the school police officer. the insurance company believes the fire was caused by my cruise control (had not worked in three to four months). caused $5,123 worth of damage to the truck.*ak

Vehicle idled roughly. vehicle warmed up and idled roughly. also there was an exhaust leak. dealership told consumer that he needed a new catalytic converter because there was a bad smell, like rotten eggs. *ak

While driving throttle had malfunctioned due to failure of solenoid, causing truck to continue forward while applying brakes. *ak *ml

While driving throttle malfunctioned, causing sudden acceleration. driver had to press down the brakes in order to stop vehicle. this may have caused a crash. also, problems with the transmission system. after taken in to the dealer, dealer claimed that no adjustments were needed, the floor mats were causing the problem. consumer believes that adjustments were made however, because vehicle shifts much better now. *ak *ml
