Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 1999 Ford F-150

Drivers door has a crack in the sheet metal about three or four inchces above the belt moulding at the rear corner of the glass. the dealer so far has ref sed to take care of the problem and at first completely denied that there was even a problem. clearly this has been an ongoing problem that they knew about as there is a tecnical service bulletin dating 11/98. i have a friend who has a 1999 f-150 with both doors cracked in exactly the same place. obviously my drivers door is the only one cracked on my truck because it gets the majority of use. i find it despicable that ford would continue to manufacture the same defective product since 1997 and refuse to fix it as well as denie knowledge of any problem. i have spoken to numerous auotbody professionals who all had knowledge of this problem. whats wrong with this picture?*ak

Driver and passenger front doors are cracking around window, body of vehicle is fragile. consumer is concerned, especially in case of an accident, doors may not hold. dealership was aware of problem. *ak *et

Crack in the door sheet metal at the lower rear of the window opening near the belt molding. *ak

I got in a accident with a deer and was talking with repair personal. when one asked if i was having any trouble with my door. i said it shakes when hitting bumps. i was worried about the door flying open when roll over occur. he said they have seen alot of them cracking right at the window base then we looked at mine and it was cracked also. he said that the dealer was fixing the crack for free but when i called the dealer they said no they were not fixing the doors. this is a factory defect and might be the cause of death because of improper fit. inthe case of a roll over the door may come open more freely.*ak

Consumer noticed a crack on driver's side door, this happened last year, and another door was put on. currently, it was happening to new door.*ak

Driver's side door is cracking on outside through metal. took vehicle to dealer, and dealer stated nothing could be done. door was under sheet metal. *ak *yh

I am concerned that the structural integrity has been compromised by this factory design defect. i am concerned that in a crash this door will fail to protect me, since it has already cracked. i am still awaiting the pass. side to crack as well. almost all of this model year as well as 1997, 1998, and 2000 are cracked in same area.*ak

I noticed a crack in the sheet metal on the body of my truck. the crack is located on the driver side door just above the additional rubber molding in the bottom right corner of the window. this makes me wonder how the door would hold up if i got hit in the door.

Driver's side door edge near the glass metal is shearing in half and paint is chipping.*ak

Door structure cracking at bottom of window. *ak

Ford pickup f150 truck doors cracked at windows on both sides. repaired through ford. the doors cracked again within month of repair. not fixed although still under warranty. ford issued bulletin after repaired, but we were not informed. bulletin time frame has expired. ford refuses to fix. also, frame under bed where class 3 hitch was installed prior to purchase of vehicle (new), broke. have pictures of same. ford refused to fix or replace frame. if this had happened while towing on interstate, all could have been killed when hitch and trailer bounced off the road bed and dug into the road while vehicle was in motion. ford refuses to fix this problem. had repairs done by welding shop. body shop and welding shop both state frame is substandard (too thin for weight that ford states this truck can safely tow). tongue weight less then 250#...seats repaired 2 times within warranty period (once @ approximately 23000, 2nd @ approximately 48000 miles). ford states that this is normal wear and tear on vehicle. previous truck (1987 ford f150 6 cyl 4x4) had 150000+ mileage with no seat failure. *jb

This vehicle has developed a visible stress fracture of the door sheetmetal starting under the aft weather strip for the window and extending aft along the door. this is the first notice of this problem which seems to be common to this make and model vehicle.

Drivers side door has a crack in near the bottom right corner of drivers side window. the crack appears to be structural in nature. it is approximately 1.5" in length from the interior edge of the sheet metal extending out to beyond the end of the window molding. *ak

Driver side door has cracked now for the 2nd time in the same place. the truck was repaired at bob townsend ford in cincinnati, oh and when i returned to show the dealer that the door was cracked again i was told by the service mgr that sometimes stuff like that happens. i have noticed the same crack in the same spot on other fords including the 97 model. i want my door repaired by ford! i was told by bob townsend ford that i would have to pay for repair out of my pocket. it is very clear that ford knows about the problem but is unwilling to honor its so called quality care program to its customers.*ak

My 1999 ford f150 extended cab shakes when driving at speeds between 40-45 mph and occassionally at speeds greater then 80 mph. front and rear alignment nor tire balance/rotation corrects problem. another owner related this is due to a defect in the chassis due to design problems with extended cab. is their a corrective action for this vibration?
