I purchased a 1999 ford f150 from kings auto mall near cincinnati. the trucks air bag light was on and i did not know what this meant until after i purchased the truck. i had it in the dealers shop to fix the a/c and have other items looked at. they stated that the air bag light was caused by a faulty air bag switch. this is the switch that turns off the air bag when small children are riding in the passenger seat. the dealership had placed a sticker on the passenger window stating that the truck had been safety checked. but yet i purchased a truck that could have killed my 4 year old if the air bag had went off. the dealership stated that they will only pay for half of the repair for fixing the switch. i don't understand how they could have sold me a truck that had this major issue. *jb

Dt: contact states the passenger side door lock is not functioning properly. the door cannot be unlocked from the outside with the electronic control. the battery has been replaced in the remote control. contact can unlock the door with the actual key. also, there are problems with the electrical system, when the windshield wipers are turned on the radio will go off. there is an appointment schedule with a service dealer for monday, june 27, 2005.*ak

Transmission gears breaking, timing chain loosening. *jb

Passenger power door lock failed, necessitating passenge to roll down car widow to use exterior door handle to get out. driver side door lock soon failed in exact same manner.

My 1999 f-150 5.4 ltr 4wd started making loud ticking noise @ 39,000 miles.took truck to burch ford from whom i purchased vehicle & they diagnosed ticking noise as a bad cat. cvrtr!!! they also advised me of leaking head gasket from (r)rear head and a repair cost of $3,200 w/ (12 mo./12,ooo mi.warranty !!! )on repair.when i picked up vehicle & started engine, the same loud ticking noise (only worse) was still there!!! burch ford & ford motor corp refused to even acknowledge problem or warranty their repair.while trying to get assistance, i drove vehicle bare min and aprox. 300 miles after the "repair",the engine blew # 3 spark plug out of (r) head like like a rocket & massive loss of power which nearly left me in direct path of a loaded semi truck !!!(thought i was going be crushed to death).i had truck towed back to burch ford & they faxed me a estimate of $3,200. more to replace head (now total is $ 6,400. from the two repairs!!!) and in bold print @ bottom of est. say's ....no warranty!!! vehicle needs new engine & neither the dealership or ford motor corp are willing to ohnor their original repair,or assist in this catastrophic problem that research shows has occuring by the hundreds on 4.6 ,5.4 & now many v-10 engines from 1996 to 2004........ (8 yrs.)!!! my truck is my pride & joy & with aprox. 39,000 miles on it,my $ 40,000.00 ride may be a total loss due to current book value & contraversial $$$$$cost of repair!!! this is my 6th ford vehicle(all of which were paid off in full 1-2yrs.early!!!)in the last 9 yrs.i've been a more than loyal ford customer,...but with blatent dissregard for their bread & butter,(loyal ford customers) ford seems to be for 8 yrs. now; grossly and w/o any remorse, far less than a loyal automobile manufacturer !!!...respectfully,...j.l. *ak

Consumer states that the location off the spare tire, is causing the tire to have groves in the side wall, without it being used or remove. cause it tighten so severely. size lt24575r16. orginial equipment. ts

while driving 10mph metal hoist that holds spare tire broke off.*ak

Lift assembly steel cable sheared where it meets compression molded retainer. when the cable sheared it allowed several pieces of the assembly and the spare tire to drop to the pavement. had i been on a road or highway when the tire fell, it may have caused a serious accident. i purchased and installed ford part# fmc2l3z1a131aa as the replacement. this ford recommended replacement assembly is a reengineered and highly modified replacement compared to the original. the ford parts person indicated that this component has been known to fail on late model f-series trucks, expenditions and navigators.*ak

Cable which holds spare tire has broken and caused loss of emergency spare tire. manufacturer were notified. feel free to provide any further information.*ak

There was no waring or sounds indicating a problem.a/c started blowing hot air, i pulled over and looked under the hood and found the compressor on fire.this could have had a devistating ending had my wife been driving because she would have kept going.this is very upseting to think of what could have happened. this could have very easily ended my family had the truck totally caught on fire with my wife driving with our children. *ak

Dealer repaired a flat and placed the spare tire under the back of the truck on the spare tire retainer approximately one month ago. today, while sitting in my driveway, the spare tire retainer cable snapped and the spare tire fell to the ground. had this occurred on the highway, an accident could have resulted.*ak

Display panel on the am/fm cd player failed. apparently this is a common issue with all ford factory radios. called my ford dealership to see if it would be possible to purchase a display circuit board, unfortunately it could not. repair was min 250.00 and a total replacement 500.00. *jb

Consumer was removing spare tire from spare carrier & found tire was melted in 8 places. tire is heated up by tire carrier bars. manufatcurer will have someone to contact consumer on 11-28-00. *ak

Removed new full-size spare for first time since vehicle's manufacture to replace blowout. discovered that the metal channel steel bars used to hold the spare up under the p/u bed have worn deep grooves into the tire sidewall in eight places. these grooves, made by compression and the vibratrion/friction of normal vehicle operation over time, have seriously compromised safety of the tire sidewall, creating weak spots which can lead to a catastrophic blowout. ford service personell tell me that "this is the way that all ford trucks are built, there are hundreds of thousands of trucks out there that wear these grooves in the spare tire sidewalls." if true, that is unacceptable, because a simple redesign of the carrier could eliminate this hazard.( dot number: tire size: 235/70/r16 )

Recall 99vo39000/fmvss 301. recall notice received, but dealer was unable to honor recall because of the trailer hitches. manufacturer informed consumer that they will not do recall repairs because of the trailer hitches.*ak

Tire cable jack broke twice, allowing tire to fall out onto street. ford has device to keep driver from over tightning, to keep stress off cable. but it does not work. *ak

Trailer hitch receiver can now have safey trim from us patent 5,934,699-6,176,506 i cut my leg , my child cut his hand on rusting hitch receiver and the hitch tore up a vehcile that would have been prevented if the universal safety trailer hitch cover assembly designed both both oem and aftermarket was applied. the safety trim is snap-on consumer installed applied to the exterior of the hitch receiver now a standard on oem vehicles with 80 million us truck registrations the only help to get oem's to cover this rough peice of rusting steel is www.blueovalnews.com. the safety trailer hitch cover assembly is not a oem or aftermarket product but a safety device designed by a consumer. oems ar avoiding any additional cost for this trim even though the sae safety device design fits the best selling aftermarket class iii hitch as well. a cross platform design needs your help to make them cover this eye sore and danger to the touch. 1-800-759-8888 ext.1824828#*ak

Truck was unstable with cause unknown by dealership. owner has taken vehicle in for corrective action several times, however nothing has changed. vehicle vibrates excessively when at idle with rpm gauge fluctuating up/down. *ak consumer states that the engine runs rough, oil level dropped and there was a clicking noise in which the dealer replaced the fan blade and fan clutch. rear brakes experienced grinding, dealer applied a silencer to the front and rear brake pads. consumer has experienced several problems with the a/c and heater, problems still exists. vehicle uses a lot of gas, idles rough and experiences small hesitation upon acceleration. vehicle kicks into gear. vehicle drifts to the right, while driving at higher speeds, vehicle and steering wheel vibrate. driver side rear view mirror rattles when closing door, when everything is closed there is an outside noise, dealer resealed the windshield. when turning on the lights, the clock and a/c are delayed. there is a whining noise when turning steering wheel. window control buttons stick at times, dealer replaced the window switch. *slc

Entire bed and fender welds have tiny rust spots. dealer was contacted and cannot remedy the entire problem. 2) when starting vehicle loud noise sounds intermittently. problem still exists. provide further information. *ak
