Noxious exhaust fumes are pouring into the cabin of the vehicle whenever the heat or a/c is running and are particularly noticeable when the vehicle is in motion. noxious fumes are detectable by human sense of smell, and the noxious fumes increase in volume as the vehicle increases in speed.
Exhaust smell in cabin seems coming from heating ducts took it to dealer did there so called fix but still smell exhaust makes me feel dizzy when driving it seams the smell comes and go the smell is bad and also makes eyes water
Vehicle is two months old. since pickup vehicle has had a smell of rotten eggs. more recently, i've been getting a reverb sound (like one window is cracked) which i can feel is due to a poor seal on the drivers door. when it was very cold here with 40mph winds i actually felt wind come in the door-seal. while the rotten egg smell subsided, i get an exhaust fume smell when parked near building rear-ways in, such as when i purchased the car and it was reversed against steps. the smell of the exhaust fumes fills the cabin causing a headache and having to crack the windows to avoid the smell. i've been avoiding driving the car, will be calling ford soon to check for a fix for this. brand new 2017 ford explorer sport and exhaust fumes filling the cabin, even with circulation selected, so it shouldn't be bringing outside air in. further a poor seal / fitment of the drivers side door, possibly adding to this issue?
Scott peterson motors of sturgis completed the 17n03 service on this vehicle in order to repair the problem of exhaust odor in the cabin. however the intermittent exhaust odor is still present. also turned on a co meter and got a reading of 114 ppm of co while driving. surprising that we got such a high reading at a time when we did not smell the exhaust odor at that time. wife still has a headache all day long after getting the intermittent exhaust odor in the cabin during driving in town.
There is a smell of exhaust in the cabin at times driving. when the smell is present i get a severe headache and feel sick to my stomach. a few weeks ago, i went to the dealer to report the exhaust smell and they immediately took it in like they knew exactly what is happening. they said they were going to see what the problem was. i received a rental car and had it for 4 days. receive call to pick up my suv. the repair order said they replaced the lift gate weather stripping and a few other things. i drove it home and the exhaust smell was still present. i called and made another service appointment for today, 1/29/18.
Vehicle has been back and forth to sawgrass ford as there is a bad smell of sulphur/rotten eggs. dealer conducted voluntary recall. have been back several times since january 2018 with same issue. this vehicle is making me sick!
There's exhaust fume in the cabin my wife has suffered severe headache after 60 mins of driving included my 20months old baby. my car has already been repaired once and is in the shop again because i left a co2 senors in back seat and has gone off multiple times. ford is not being very helpful because i don't want the car anymore. it is a huge safety concern and i don't want my wife and toddler in the vehicle at all.
Carbon monoxide presence in vehicle. repeatedly took it to the shop still no fix, have a new transmission put in problem persists change the timing cover problem still persists. experience this issue at first startup, while driving local street and freeways, problem is getting worse my kids are getting sick and constant headache
When the vehicle is being accelerated, a strong odor of sulfur or "rotten eggs" consumes the cabin of the suv. this has occurred when the air system is in all modes, including when turned off. it is apparent that exhaust fumes are entering the cabin when driving the vehicle and endangering all passengers. the vehicle has spent two weeks at a ford dealership for repairs on this issue (reprogrammed climate control, rear seal corrected) however the problem remains and has not been remedied. health concerns have been endured with driver and passengers due to toxicity of exhaust fumes.
Ford recall. i started feeling fatigued, nauseous and getting headaches over the past week after driving to and from work. i drove home from work on 12/6/2017 at night and was struggling to keep my eyes open and got sick. my wife said she smelled a chemical type smell in the car. we did some research and found that ford acknowledged some explorers have an issue where the exhaust fumes get back into the car. i took the car to the dealer today and they said it was confirmed to have the problem and they fixed it.
Exhaust fumed smell in car... specifically when ac is running and backing up
Headaches and nausea, blurred vision, driving an hour a day to work at highway speeds.
Exhaust leaking into cabin of vehicle: while driving i noticed after a period of 1 hour i get dizzy, headaches, and feel nauseated. when after arriving at my destination i felt very lethargic taking many hours before i felt relief. my wife noticed it driving on a two hour trip where her vision became doubled. after being out of the vehicle she for a period of time she felt better. i spoke with my dealer about the issue when doing routine maintenance and ford told me that their is no recall at the moment for this complaint.
I have been dizzy since purchased the car in november 2017, blurred vision as well.
There's exhaust fume in the cabin after hard acceleration(rpm was around 5000). and my family suffered a severe headache after 90 minutes driving included my 12 months old baby. my car has already been repaired twice in ford, but it has not been resolved.
I bought a 2017 ford explorer for my daughter to drive back and forth to college. she has been experiencing dizziness, headaches and nearly passed out after driving the vehicle. when i get in the vehicle and start it up, it smells like exhaust inside the vehicle. there is obviously a problem.
Carbon monoxide emissions in air conditioning system
Have the carbon monoxide smell inside my suv. i took it to the dealership in oct. and was told parts were backordered to dec. ford rushed in parts and replaced a list of things. that fix failed and still have the same issue with no eta on when it will be looked at again. ford refuses to take the suv in again and ford refuses to talk about this issue. i do travel for personal use and have had the strong oder inside and have had bad headaches and drowsiness. i get the oder driving, taking off from stops or getting on the freeway/interstate.
There's some burning odor in the cabin. my family suffered a severe headache after 2 hours driving included my 11 months old baby.
Car smells like rotten eggs from the outside of the vehicle. i noticed a slight odor in the trunk area, but it's mostly coming from underneath the vehicle.
Exhaust is entering the vehicle and making myself and my 2.5 year old son sick. i immediately get a headache when driving and feel nauseous, extreme fatigue, body and muscle aches, memory issues, confusion, and i've been coughing up brown mucous which is linked to the inhalation of hazardous pollution and gases. these symptoms last long after i am finished driving my car and haven't gone away for more than four days. my son is having the same symptoms and it makes me nervous because exposure to these gases will hinder his neurodevelopment. it is difficult to say when the gas is entering the car, but i opened my sunroof while driving this morning with the windows up and the a/c on and i could smell a natural gas smell and i felt the effects of inhaling the gas immediately. the gas was escaping through the sunroof and right by my head.
Exhaust smell.....rotten eggs or sulfer smell while accelerating with the a/c on in recirculate so i know its not from outside vehicles
My wife and i purchased a 2017 ford explorer and she was complaining of burning eyes and nesuea i did think nothing of it until i saw a cbs report about the police interceptors so when i went to my local dealership and asked them about it they said not to worry because my explorer was not part of the recall please nhtsa make them take the explorers back and exchange it's not fair that we paid for a $34,000 vehicle that is not safe for us and the public thank you,
My parents bought this unit 8 months ago from tipton ford dealership in brownsville tx. soon after that my mom starting complaining about tingling in her hands and had lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. she was recently admitted in the hospital for 4 days with carbon monoxide level in her blood. the local ford dealership has not been helpful what so ever.
Since buying my explorer i have noticed any time i accelerate i begin to notice an awful smell. if we do not roll windows down, everyone in the vehicle gets nauseous or dizzy. today while accelerating on the interstate i had to quickly stop to throw up. it has never gotten to that point until today. after bringing it to nearest ford dealership it was confirmed that it is a carbon monoxide leak and i would have to take it back to where i purchased it to have it repaired.
When accelerating vehicle over 45 mph exhaust fumes inside vehicle apparently coming through ac vents
Exhaust fume leaks into passenger cabin - problem since purchasing this vehicle new this spring; anytime when accelerating to merge into highway traffic with recirculating ac on a burning oil or acrid odor leaks into the cabin. in an attempt to fix the problem the local ford dealer 'resealed" the undercarriage, however the problem persist. on a recent 400 mile road trip with recirculating ac on passenger and driver got very drowsy, windows had to be opened, recirculating ac turned off and stops made to shake off the effects. my previous 2013 ford explorer had the same exhaust problem but never like this. when i purchased this new model i took it on faith the "problem" wouldn't affect the 2017s. ford has had a long time to figure this out and correct whatever manufacturing or design defect is causing this. i will contact the local dealer who has been very accommodating to advise i have filed this complaint. i just want a suv that doesn't have this issue since 80% of my trips are 40+ miles of highway driving at higher speeds. all i want is a ford explorer that doesn't put my health at risk.
Exhaust fumes coming inside car when accelerating
When applying just the slightest bit of pressure to the brake pedal at the same moment the brake lights come on a clanking or clicking noise happens. the noise sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. the noise is also random and despite efforts to intentially duplicate noise, it appears to happen randomly. brought the vehicle to ford delearship 5 plus times and they have fixed everything from the suspension to nuts and bolts but have yet to resolve the problem. the noise occurs when the vehicle is in motion and at the exact moment any pressure is applied to the brake pedal.
On 9/11/2017 driving on highway - windows up no ac on - got this overwhelming feeling that was going to pass out - pulled to right and open all windows - head cleared - this was in the morning only person in the car - no history of medical issues
Occasional exhaust gases inside vehicle while idling.
There is a burning smell/ strong odor of exhaust fumes entering the vehicle when driving . it seems to occur more often or become stronger when accelerating up hills or when accelerating onto the highway, but can occur when driving at any time. my wife, myself, family members and friends who have ridden in or driven the vehicle have smelled it. the smell can be stronger to passengers in the rear seating areas. this has occurred on numerous occasions since my wife has leased the vehicle on 01/20/17 and has been to the dealer twice to be checked ,but they cannot find anything wrong. the vehicle will be returning to the dealer this week (09/06/17) again to be checked .
My daughter frequently complains of headaches, dizziness and nausea when riding in the front passenger seat. this only happens to her when she is in the ford. on one occasion she was taken to the emergency room and started vomiting. er doctors could not explain the cause of her illness.
Carbon monoxide inside passenger cabin, when driving at normal speeds in highway. had to pull over to vomit and wait a while to be able to continue. has happened in various occasion but wires the last time.
C0 detector went off on a 3hr drive on 08-18-17 with ac and air recirculation on. after opening the windows the detector stopped beeping. the detector is a glui cigarette-lighter powered device w/ two usb ports (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/b01g2yj3zu) and has been installed in the center console cigarette lighter (facing the second row seats) since mid may. no other time has this alarm went off. at the time of the alarm the detector was partially covered with some fabric from a bag and the detector was warm to the touch. we were camping in a place with no cell service so we did not get a chance to contact ford/nhtsa. we drove home w/ the windows open. after coming back home i tried intentionally setting off the co alarm with a can of co. after warming up the detector by letting the car run i sprayed co into the detector but i was unable to get the alarm to go off again. it is unclear to me whether this was a false alarm from the detector or a legitimate issue with c0 emissions in the vehicle. there are not many active co alarms on amazon for cars, the glui one is the most reasonable one i've found. any advice would be appreciated; i'll be contacting ford today as well.
Gas odor leak inside the car while driving that caused me to have sxs of dizziness, nausea and vomiting. it happened in multiple occasions.
My 2017 ford explorer xlt has exhaust smell coming through the vents throughout the vehicle. this is not a new car smell but rather exhaust odor and only is apparent when the ac system or fan system is in the on position. i purchased this vehicle on june 13, 2017 and was hospitalized on july 1, 2017 for three days. the doctors were unable to provide a diagnosis although i was experiencing headaches, dizziness and trouble with my vision. every time i drive my explorer and turn the ac or fans on i notice a exhaust odor. i develop a headache, dizziness feel sick. i called ford and they told me that there is no recall on my vehicle and to take it to a dealer for a possible carbon monoxide leak or other issue that maybe causing the problem. ford also stated that the problems were only on the police interceptor vehicles even though all exploreres come off same production line. note: i have had this vehicle for almost two months. the new car smell is gone and there is no odor with the vehicle's engine is not in the on position. the toxic odor is only noticeable when the vents/ac/fans are running.
The explorer is experiencing carbon monoxide leaks. the further back you sit in the suv the more you are exposed to the carbon monoxide. we purchased a detector and after only 10 minutes on the interstate the level was 15ppm. at 10ppm it starts affecting infants and we have a 11month old
Exhaust odor appears within cabin after excessive acceleration onto highway
Exhaust smell comes into the cabin when car is accelerating. seems worst when the ac is in re-circulation mode. you can smell the exhaust fumes right after the engine/transmission has downshifted to accelerate.
I have a terrible exhaust odor that enters the cab of my car upon acceleration.
Smelled gasoline in cabin after driving car for 2 miles in morning. air conditioner was on, temp was approx 75 degrees. contacted dealer and they said that sometimes with new cars it is the result of the coating on the new parts. car was purchased brand new yesterday, but had 187 mies on it. (per dealer, it may have been a swap from another dealer and the miles came from transport). made a service appointment for 8/16 (next available), but service rep had no knowledge of any issues of this sort.
My explorer has the strong smell of exhaust fumes that come into the cabin while you are driving. it is making the passengers feel sick and getting headaches. it is presently at earnhardt ford being looked at.
I am concerned about my 2017 ford explorer and a carbon monoxide leak. i have overall feeling bad since we got our new 2017 ford explorer, which is very out of character for me. i am a prior special operation veteran, overall in good health, and only 30y/o. like many, who have complained about this vehicle i am getting nausea, weakness, and tension headaches from driving this vehicle. i have been very weak and having headaches, as of late. this has had a major impact on my day-to-day life. i couldn't explain why or what was going on with me it seemed as if it came out of nowhere. i am starting to think maybe i have long term exposure to carbon monoxide over the last 3 weeks. i got the ford explore 3 weeks ago and this sudden sickness has been happening since then. i got so worried with my health"i went to the doctor. i explained to the doctor "i have no clue what's going on with me but i feel absolutely horrible. i feel like i have had a flu for almost a month". i was desperate and i know i sounded crazy but i have been having some serious bouts with weakness, fatigue, and headaches. i went to the doctor on july 31st 2017 and i really have been baffled by the sudden onset of symptoms. this was before i knew about the nhtsa investigation into the 2017 ford explorer. i saw the story run today (8-3-17) on good morning america and i started to put two and two together. at the doctor's appointment on (7-31-17) they pulled blood, and are conducting a bunch of test but nothing has come back. i am concerned, i am hoping it's not related to the carbon monoxide leak that others are reporting. my biggest concern is for my pregnant wife and unborn child. as a purple heart vet i have put my heart and soul into our great country and i need this agency to please find answers to if these suvs are safe. my families could depend on it thank you for your service.
Ford explorer sport 2017 smells of exhaust gas in the driver cabin. i bought the car in march 5, 2017 and took it to dealer 3/9/17 to complain about exhaust fumes smell when i drove on the freeway. they told me they tested it and could not smell anything. the problem has continued and it happens especially when i drive on the freeway. in june a was going to drive my car from la to new jersey. after three days of driving i had to turn back to la because i got dizzy and felt nauseous every day after driving 6 to 8 hours. i saw last night on the news that there is a problem with exhaust fumes and carbon monoxide and that made me realize that i am affected by that. i called fords hotline earlier today. they said that there is a fix but when i took it to the dealership they told me that apparently there is no fix for the 2017 yet and i got the advise to be carefull and drive with my window down. that is not the solouting you want after paying 55g and having only 3500milles on the odometer!
When driving vehicle i suffer from burning eyes, headache, nasea, feeling ill, vehicle was at dealer for co2 leak, vehicle was out of service for approximately 60 days, i picked it up, drove home approximately 30 minutes and became ill, same as before it was supposedly repaired. i returned it to dealer the same day so they can try to figure why repair didn't correct the problem, i was told a district technician would need to come inspect the vehicle, this has been a problem since the first day we drove it home from the dealer. vehicle has less than 3,000 miles on it. this repair was supposed to be the "recall repair" for co2 leaking into vehicle, this repair did not resolve my issue, so not sure if ford really has this figured out yet.
Exhaust fumes, and carbon monoxide filling up the interior of vehicle, symptoms of coughing violently, exasperation of asthma symptoms, lightheaded, nausea, while driving on highway, waiting at a red light car fills up with exhaust fumes. these condition happen everyday
We heard about the possibility of carbon monoxide issues with the vehicle. concerned if it could be the cause of our 9 year old daughter's complaints of headaches when in the vehicle.
Exhaust leak into cabin of vehicle, noticed especially on acceleration on highway at speeds of 55mph and when driving up and down hills. had to roll down window to get smell out of vehicle. causing driver to get headaches, nausea and get very drowsy. took vacation for 1300 miles to virginia beach from illinois and travelled through mountains and this driver could only drive 2 hours before becoming very drowsy. this driver has been driving for 28 years and has never ever had these symptoms before while driving. this driver is not on any medications that would contribute to being drowsy, nor does not have any medical conditions that would cause this driver to become drowsy behind the wheel. this driver believes this car 2017 ford explorer is leaking exhaust into the cabin of the vehicle through the air vents even though this driver does not circulate the inside air on the a/c system. this driver always has the a/c system on bringing in outside air into the car and does not click on the button that circulates the air inside the car. this driver now has to have the window rolled down in this vehicle while driving the car anytime this driver gets into the vehicle to drive. this vehicle was first noticed to be causing driver to become drowsy on 7/29/17 & 7/30/17 while on vacation driving to virginia beach with daughter, friend of family and her son. 8/2/17 & 8/3/17 drove back to illinois and drowsy again and had to roll window down. 8/30/17 took vehicle to dealership and they tested vehicle and noticed an exhaust leak. had to order part for vehicle, appt. made for 9/6/17 for vehicle to get rear bumper removed and exhaust system looked at. 9/13/17 received this vehicle back from dealer in evening. next day drove vehicle in morning and exhaust smell in vehicle. car returned to dealer 9/15/17 for dealer to fix same problem for #2 documented visit to dealer.
The vehicle was tested and found to have 18 ppm of co in the interior while in operation.
