Vehicle was 18 months old, manufactured in july 2017, issue arose is december 2019. the power steering went out. we were told it was due to a corroded positive battery cable. we bought a warranty but the repairs were not covered by the warranty because it is considered a "maintenance issue." the repairs cost about $1,000.
At times when making a left turn the left front wheel locks up in the turning position for several seconds and trying to steer out of the left turn is impossible until the wheel releases on it's own. vehicle is in motion at the time of all incidents, on city streets, in parking lots, driveways. reason unknown.
Steering wheel is extremely loose and is almost detachable from steering column while in motion. the steering wheel can freely move up, down and side to side even when vehicle is in stationary and not turned off. concerned about steering wheel fully detaching while driving which could potentially cause collision and/or death.
Vehicle will counter steer causing lane changes, increased steering effort, random changes in direction of travel. drifts to both left and right with no warning or notice. this appears more noticeable at lower to mid speeds 25-60. its as if it's compensating for a drift or irregular road surface but it occurs on flat level surfaces. this is an ongoing problem that the dealership cannot seem to remedy after three visits.
Vehicle lost power while driving (in motion) on highway. no engine power, loss of steering control. only 1,400 miles on vehicle from new. dealer service indicated ground wire broke to pcm power control module. caused fuse 77 to short open. *tr
