Aluminum body panels are corroding underneath the paint, causing bubbling, flaking, and chipping of the paint. this is not caused naturally, this is a failure on the part of ford and their quality control. the aluminum underneath was contaminated from the factory with iron causing corrosion. while knowing about this problem, they failed to issue a recall.

The paint is peeling on the exterior and interior in large patches for no obvious reasons including rust or environmental factors like being close to salt water. the peeling paint is primarily on the back hatch but also some paint bubbling is occurring on a few other small spots on the vehicle. there is also evidence of significant leaks of water into the body but no obvious points of entry.

The air conditioning unit is leaking excessive amounts of water under the carpet and the water is pooling under the rug and flowing into the channel where the wiring harness is located. this wiring harness does not look to be protected from water and it is a mater of time before the insulation on this wire breaks down and shorts out to the frame. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford expedition. he stated that the paint on the trunk and hood of the vehicle were covered with rust and began peeling. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who took pictures of the vehicle and mailed them to the ford manufacturer. the manufacturer stated responded to the photos stating that they would not repair the vehicle because he was the second owner. there were no related recalls. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 39,000.

My 2005 ford expedition with just 62,000 miles on it has chipping and bubbling paint on the rear lift gate and the hood. talked to my local ford dealer and they said that their was an issue with the aluminum prior to painting these two parts at the factory. ford is not standing behind this defect. *tr

2005 ford expedition, paint cracking and peeling on the roof. of course i did not notice it till 102,000 miles. i did take it to the dealer and they basically told me that ford would not have fixed it 100% anyway. they do a one-third (ford), one-third (dealer), one-third (customer) pays. i find this very unacceptable. you buy a $60+++ vehicle and the paint holds no guarantee. i guess i'm luckier than the other guy though, you really don't notice the roof. the dealer said it would be about a $1500 repaint. i plan on chipping it off as much as i can, sanding it and then getting some black plastisol coating. luckily again my expedition is black and the problem is between the luggage rack runners and sunroof. *tr

The paint is bubbling and peeling on the hood and rear lift gate. this problem started and keeps getting worse. the paint has already came off in a 1 inch section. i could send i a piece of the paint to a lab if needed. car was never in accident of re-painted. *tr

I have a 2005 ford expedition that has paint bubbling in different areas. i did some research on-line and found that ford issued a technical service bulletin 04-25-1 in 2004 and another bulletin 06-25-1 in 2006 that explains that prior to painting, iron particles contaminated the aluminum panel which causes the paint bubbles down the road. in my research on-line, i found that ford is not taking care of their customers, but some dealers are covering some of the repairs under a "goodwill policy". i contacted a lawyer that specializes in lemon-law, and he suggested i file this complaint. he says if enough people complain, it may force ford to take action and take care of their customers. i did contact my dealership, and they say they never heard of this problem. i am past my 3 year warranty, so they say it is not covered. *tr

Ford expedition paint. i purchased a new 2005 ford expedition eddie bauer edition in 5/2005 from a car dealer. the 36000/3 year warranty has expired and the paint is blistering on the tailgate. i called dealer and they said it is a manufacturing defect and they will not pay for it but it will do no good to fix it unless the entire tailgate is replaced with steel. there is a service bulletin out on this issue and they are not standing behind it. *tr

I have a 2005 expedition eddie bauer and the lift gate will open on occasion. the dealer cannot find anything wrong to cause this but is aware of other complaints. i bought the vehicle brand new and started to encounter this problem at 37,000 miles when the warranty ran out. i am afraid this will happen while i am transporting my dogs to a dog show and their crates will be thrown out of the rear onto the highway. *tr
