On may first of 2014 my check engine light and oil light came on. i assumed i needed oil, so i went to the advanced auto store and purchased some oil. i put the oil in and began to proceed home. i was driving and the oil light was showing as hot. the car would not give enough power for me to drive, it began to shake. the car is not drivable anymore. it is still doing the same thing. after some research i discovered that this car's make and model is a recall car. i need to know what to do. *tr

I drove the about 3 miles, and parked the truck, then the vehicle caught on fire in front of the wal-mart. it had been parked for about 1 hour before we got notified that the truck was engulfed in flames and a explosion came from the engine compartment area. 911 was called and the fired dept came and put the fire out. the fire department was unable to determine the cause of the fire, but stated we need to contact the maufactor, and they gave me a case number as well (prince william county - [xxx]" information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I own a 2000 ford expedition with a 5.4 liter triton engine which experienced a spark plug blow out. so far, nhtsa has not required ford to issue a recall for a problem that many others have had with the same type of engine. ford does not accept responsibility for a defective design of this engine. i am now forced to pay $3,000 to fix the problem before i can even consider trading it in or trying to sell it. *tr

I own a 2000 ford expedition and my spark plug ejected out of the cylinder head. when is anyone going to make ford fess up to their design flaw and issue a recall or at least fix this problem for their consumers that have had this issue? *tr

When the key is taken out of my ignition, the blower motor to the heat and air conditioning goes to full blast. i then have to disconnect the battery in order not to drain the battery. this only happens when it is raining out. apparently the windshield leaks to the gem box and shorts it out. *tr

We have a 2000 ford expedition that blew out a spark plug about 6 months ago and this weekend it blew out another spark plug. the first time it happened i was driving to town and my truck started to run rough and sounded awful. this time my son happened to be driving it and it did the same thing. we had to get it towed back home plus have someone to fix it. the garage that fixed it used a helicoil repair kit. i guess that they will do the same thing this time. i sure am disappointed in the fact that it keeps costing me money to fix. i think that ford needs to recall the suv. *tr

My 2000 ford expedition caught fire while parked and secured in our drive way. the truck was a total loss, there is damage to our house and to the landscaping. *tr

Ford expedition spark plug ejection. this is the second time this has happened on this 2000 xlt. very dangerous, on highway at 65 mph, sound of catastrophic failure then open cylinder noise, smell of raw gas. *tr

I own a 2000 for expedition and have had nothing but expensive problems. first the caps on the spark plugs go bad everytime it gets washed or goes through puddles on the road. then when it rains water seeps into some control box and causes the radio and air to run when the vehicle is turned off and the key removed, it will even go as far as engaging the anti theft so it won't start. i have even lost control of the windshield wipers while driving, the rain drips on my feet and soaks the floor mat even if it just sitting. the latest issue is with an ejected spark plug which fortunately did not start a fire just leaving me stranded twice in one week. i am told there is no good fix for this problem and i am getting estimates as high as $3500. most say that this vehicle has one design flaw after another and that ford only gives one excuse after another. so many people seem to have the same exact problems i can't help but to think the fault lies with ford. so many other things have gone wrong with it to fix them all would be replacing every part, wire, and device on it. i think it's just a lemon designed to create revenue. surely some must have the power to investigate on behalf of the consumer. *tr

I have a 2000 ford expedition with the triton v-8, 5.4 liter engine that had a spark plug pop out of the head while i was driving, destroying the fuel injector. according to my ford dealer, this is a common issue. i have never heard of this before and can't really see how you can use the word common with a spark plug ejecting itself, but oh well. anyway, ford does not have any kind of warranty on this. how can this be?? a spark plug ejecting can lead to the very real possibility of fuel coming out of the cylinder and igniting. this seems pretty dangerous to me. the dealer will have to have the spark plug port re-threaded and a new injector put in place for a total of 590 dollars. upon doing some research, this is a very common problem with ford. *tr

Vehicle was parked next to a ford expedition that caught on fire and burn my vehicle too. *tr

2000 ford expeditiopn spark plug blew out of cylinder head. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford expedition. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate and the abs indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. immediately following, the odometer, heat, and radio became inoperable and the vehicle began idling loudly. upon entering her driveway, the vehicle stalled. the brake pedal was depressed, but there was no reaction. the contact rear ended another vehicle in the driveway. the vehicle did not sustain any damages; however, the vehicle that was rear ended sustained damage to the rear bumper. there were no injuries or a police report. the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and the mechanic stated that water entered through the windshield and drained into the fuse box, which damaged the g.e.m module. the dealer was not notified. the manufacturer stated that they were not liable for the repairs. the current and failure mileages were 120,000.

I have a 2000 ford expedition with the triton 5.4 litre v8 engine. this vehicle has a little over 100,000 miles and is used for personal transportation only. today we had a spark plug blow out on the vehicle and had to have it towed to the local ford dealership. the mechanic at the dealership quoted me a price of over $700 to have a temporary fix of a heli coil placed into the spark plug hole to replace the stripped threads caused by the blowout and to have the coil replaced. he mentioned that this temporary fix is not something that he can guarantee will work so he also offered me a $5000 "permanent fix" of having the entire engine block replaced. unfortunately, due to my financial situation, i cannot afford the permanent fix and am having to opt for/gamble with the temporary fix attempt. according to the mechanic and research information i found on the internet, this is a common occurrence problem. we are in the process of having the mechanic at the ford dealership attempt the $700 temporary repair. with the fact that this is a known issue to ford and consumer affairs, this issue should be part of a recall from ford motor company. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford expedition. the contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically stall. the dealer stated that the coil pack located near the air compressor, could develop moisture, which would cause the coil springs to fail and the vehicle to stall. secondly, the technician stated that in rainy conditions, condensation under the hood could cause the coil springs to fail spontaneously. as a result, the risk of a crash is increased. three coil springs need to be replaced at the cost of $500. the manufacturer did not assist. the failure and current mileages were 120,000.

I have a 2000 4.6 ford expedition with approx 150,000 miles on it. i drove it from los angeles to san francisco. when i arrived in san francisco i was greeted by a loud pop and an accompanying rattle and sputter. the front driver side spark plug had blown out and broke off the ignition coil. the spark plug stripped the threading of the aluminum heads. i took it to a ford dealership in san francisco and they blamed faulty installation of the spark plug. in researching the problem i have found that many others have had this similar problem not specific to changed spark plugs. i have also learned that some class actions suits have been filed against ford in regards to this problem but have not been successful. i am out a couple of thousand dollars and an extended stay in san francisco due to this problem that i am learning what is happening far to common regardless of the age or the make of a ford product. i am thankful this did not occur in a desolate or dangerous area but i am extremely upset in what seem apparent to me and many others as a factory default. *tr

2000 ford expedition xlt with 5.4 triton engine. i've had 2 sparkplugs pop out of the engine on two separate days. one in dec. 07 and the other in aug. 08. since it is inevitable that the heads be repaired i used jb weld to epoxy the sparkplugs in with success. in 100,000 miles i'll have to pay to have the heads repaired, but i may not have the car at that time. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford expedition. the contact stated that the vehicle has an exhaust leak, the electrical odometer flickers on and off, and there is rust at the bottom of every door on the vehicle. also, the fuel gauge does not work and the vehicle would stall while driving 50 mph. the dealer stated that the contact would be liable for 50% of the repair costs, and the other 50% would be covered under warranty. the failure mileage was 109,000 and the current mileage was 109,150, which was difficult to determine due to the failed odometer.

My 2000 ford expedition caught on fire in the parking garage at my job and damaged 6 other cars with no signs of any warnings. *tr

Driving down the road and hear a knocking in the engine. open up hood and find that we have blown a spark plug. this has happened three times in my 2000 expedition. we have been stranded unless we find the spark plug or are able to get a new spark plug. also the wiring has had to be replaced due to this issue. unfortunately the last time it blew was in the middle of the california desert in 100 plus temperatures. *tr
