While vehicle was parked brake lights were operable. when driver shifted the vehicle from park to drive or reverse brake light failed to illuminate. consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem. *ak
1999 ford expedition: 4.6 sohc ead gasket leaks oil fixed twice still leaks. multi function switch replaced once,doe's not work again. expedition has rough idle ,never been able to fix. *ak
Both external rear view mirrors with built-in turn signal indicators have lost teh reflective surface. it seems that teh 'silvering' on the back side of the mirror has peeled off. night visibility is near zero. daytime is not much better. the defect has resulted in a couple near misses with respect to an accident. ford will not cover under (extended) warranty. i reported it in 2001 .*ak
Exterior mirror is peeling, causing almost zero visibility.*ak the manufacturer refuses to repair under warranty. these mirrors are heated with the turn signals embedded. *jg
While driving at 8,900 miles gasket blew. took vehicle to dealer for repairs. again at 22, 000 miles the gasket blew again. also, vehicle was leaking oil. *ak all gaskets had been replaced. little white dot on headlight switch doesn't light up. switch assembly replaced. *tt
