I have a 2014 ford escape with 111,000 miles and was just told entire transmission needs to be replaced. i have read many complaints about the current escape vehicles needing transmission replacements with low mileage. i understand the power train warranty has expired, but for a transmission to last no longer that 4 years 111,000 miles is a dis-service to the consumer and their needs to be a recall on this model. vehicle starting hestitating during acceleration a few days prior to having in looked at but no error codes were found on the engine or transmission. the day after picking up the vehicle the vehicle starting shifting erratically and then a transmission fault light came on and i had to have the vehicle towed to a ford dealership on friday 7/20 and was told today 7/23 the entire transmission would have to be replaced at a cost of around $5000.00. this is unacceptable in my eyes.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 65 mph, the sync system displayed 'do you want to run a vehicle health report?' to which the contact indicated "yes". the message 'do not stop keep engine running in order to run the health report' was displayed as the vehicle seized and smoke was seen coming from the hood. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a ford dealer. the vehicle was taken to bob utter ford-lincoln (2525 texoma pkwy, sherman, tx 75090, 903-892-3555) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty, but the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving at an unknown speed, abnormal noises were heard coming from the vehicle. also, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 104,000. the vin was unavailable.
Was traveling on the highway on cruise control. speed was approximately 75 mph. noticed the rpm's climbing while the speed remained constant. took the car off of cruise control. that did not solve the issue. the rpm would climb while the speed would not. we pulled off at the nearest exit. smoke was coming from under the car. basically the transmission stopped working with no warning. car had 74,000 miles when this happened.
Stearing wheel locked and will not turn the vehicle had to turn it off and turn it back on.
Backed vehicle out of a driveway and shifted into park on curb. without turning vehicle off attempted to shift into drive a short time later and shifter was loose/had no resistance and vehicle would not shift into any gear or move. a tow truck was called to tow vehicle to dealer and found that shifter cable end had come off of linkage on the transmission. cable was temporarily reattached and vehicle driven to dealer where cable was replaced to remedy issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while attempting to park in the driveway, the vehicle was shifted into neutral and the emergency brake was engaged. upon attempting to shift into park, it failed to engage and the back up camera was activated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (walt sweeney-west hills ford in cincinnati, ohio, 513-922-4500) where it was diagnosed that the plastic piece that attached the transmission cable to the shifter was fractured and needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 69,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced difficulty shifting gears. once the gears were shifted, the vehicle experienced severe jerking. in addition, the instrument cluster independently ceased to function. the failure occurred without warning. the failure had not been diagnosed. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The vehicle tremors and shudders while driving. it started just a little over 100,000 miles. it feels like you're driving across a rugged or bumpy road, but it's the entire vehicle that shakes. fords diagnostic was concluded without the transmission fault light or ce light on acknowledging an issue. they kept for days and ran several tests. the mechanic could tell by driving it a few times that is has what he called the 'transmission shudder.' if he knew what it was and mentioned how common it was on my model, then why is it not under a recall? after research, i have read other experiencing the same complaints. also, why after driving 12,000 miles after the diagnostic not a single light has indicated an issue. it just continually shakes and i have absolutely no trust for it to take my family and i anywhere. it's my daily driver but i only live 4 minute sfrom work and that's already risky to me.
Parked car on driveway facing home. driveway is uphill from street to house. put car in "park" and upon getting out the car it started rolling backwards. i was unable to stop car and it rolled down the drive & part of the yard, knocking down a telephone pole guide wire, crossed the street & stopped with half over the opposite curb & damaging a mail box.
Bought vehicle used at 73200 miles. transmission went bad and replaced at 74000 miles, under dealer warranty. code ready incorrect gear. car said transmission fault service immediately. at 78690 miles vehicle started to shift irregularly again after descending a large hill (800+ foot elevation over 2-3 miles) and the transmission fault alert occurred again. vehicle was able to move but had no power to ascend a small hill (~50 foot). had to be towed to dealer.
The transmission in my 2014 escape has gone out. there shouldn't be transmission issues in a 4 year old car. when the car was in drive, it would rev up to 4-5 rpms like it was in neutral before it would move. it would increase speed very slowly. it would jerk like it wouldn't go into gear. the transmission has to be fully replaced. i should not have this problem or expense in a 4 year old car. it is at j.o. ford dealership in gladewater, tx. getting repaired now.
I was driving on the freeway to work it became very clear that the vehicle was not shifting properly. i could feel and see the rpms increasing much too high before the vehicle would finally shift, causing a significant jerking motion. then, an engine warning appeared stating 'transmission fault. service now'. i immediately pulled off of the freeway and had the vehicle towed home. i had the vehicle taken into a ford dealership in order for them to diagnose the issue, which they did saying the transmission was completely shot. zero indication there was an issue before it failed.
Transmission started making a shuttering sound in between 4 & 5 gear, this started about a month ago 05/01/18, the car has 153,000 miles.
The vehicle's gear shift cable "breaks" leaving the vehicle inoperable unable to go into gear, drive or reverse. the vehicle drive ok then parked. the vehicle was parked in a public garage when i noticed that the vehicle would not go into gear.
Low coolant check system light on randomly, diagnosed as defective water pump at 56,000 miles. water pump on back order and not available for 2 weeks, then 3 -5 days shipping and 2 - 3 days repair. i have scheduled a long vacation and have already missed a week of it. ford has authorized a rental car until the repair, but my vacation destination is 11 hours away. i do not understand why there is not a water pump available within a more reasonable amount of time. it will be a total of 3 - 4 weeks until the repair can be made under warranty. *tr
I was told in april of 2018 by my ford dealership that my vehicle needed a new transfer case. after doing my research, i learned that the escape has had transfer case issues from the model year 2002 until 2014 yet ford has done nothing to rectify the situation. i have emailed and postal mailed the ceo of ford with no response. i do not know how a company can let something as significant as this repair go on for twelve years and not recall the vehicle? eventually this will be a $3000 repair on a four year old vehicle. that is money i do not have. the car continues to make a whining noise when driving on any terrain at any speed.
Car was occasionally jerking, making a clunking sound when shifting up/down. then the "transmission fault." warning came on. took it to golden ford lincoln in camden arkansas. their diagnostics showed "torque converter input shaft return was restricted and burnt up transmission." cost us $4962.62 to replace the transmission, ridiculous! having a total transmission failure with only 71250 miles on a modern car is terrible.at least it didn't fail at speed on the highway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. upon starting the vehicle, it inadvertently reversed down a driveway. the contact stated that the vehicle came to a stop when it struck a stop sign. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the contact called bell ford lincoln at (517) 265-8187 (located at 4510 us-223, adrian, mi 49221), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
Stopped while driving at 25 mph on highway at a blind spot. motor just revved in drive. after playing with it for 10 mins was able to crawl off the road.. after being towed to dealer it has been said that the transmission is bad. under normal driving not towing or hauling it should not do this at 87k .. first maintenance calls at 150k
Purchased vehicle on 2/17/2018 with 73,600 miles on the vehicle on 2/20/2018 drove vehicle for approximately 6 hours (pittsburgh to cleveland and back) near the end of the return trip, the transmission started to randomly downshift and up shift on relatively level ground while cruise control was on at about 67 mph. within a minute of this behavior, the information display indicated a transmission fault: service immediately. i pulled over and turned the car off and on again. the fault cleared. called dealer and stated my issue. took car to dealer (smail honda greensburg, pa) on 2/21. on the trip to the dealer, the fault happened two more times. one of those times i heard a loud clunking noise.while i was applying the brakes. dealer found a wrong gear ratio fault on the transmission and is replacing the unit with one that has 46000 mile on it. all occurrences of the fault were on the highway above 50mph vehicle had 74400 miles when dealer took possession to repair
Car suddenly developed a high-pitched hum. after coming to a stop, car engine revved as if in neutral. managed to move car off road and had vehicle towed to ford dealership. repair order says 'converter came apart internally.' vehicle had 64,270 miles.
The transmission blew on this car after 3 1/2 years of ownership, 87,000 miles. the transmission began slipping (i.e., loss of power upon shifting to accelerate) after about 1 year of ownership. i asked our local dealer where i purchased the car to check and they could not replicate. the slippage kept happening periodically, but not often enough that i could figure out what was going on. it was after the transmission blew and i researched "blown transmission" online that i realized what had been going on for years in a new car. when it did blow, i was driving, running errands around town, and was coming to a stop at a light. as i tried to put it back into gear and drive when the light turned green it would not engage into a gear to move the car. left me stranded. everything else was running, including the sync operated "engine assessment system" which ran an assessment and said everything in the care was operating fine, including the transmission! i had to pay for a rental car, towing for the vehicle, and it would cost me $6700 to replace the transmission. it was so damaged the service guy said it could not even be repaired. we ultimately donated the car but got nothing for a car that was 3 1/2 years old in great condition. very disappointing. and the dealer never offered me anything...to pay for rental car or the diagnostic to tell me they had to replace the transmission, or even for parts for the car. i'll never buy a ford car again.
We took vehicle in for recall repairs at ford dealer. when we drove it home on city street at 35 mph the rear of the car started shaking and transmission fault light came on. the dealer said it was a bad rear drive shaft bearing. it needs to be repaired as it is a safety issue and could cause an accident when driving. the cost of repair was $500. after the repair we drove it home on city street at 40 mph the transmission fault light came back on. ford dealer said it could be a shift solenoid repair for $500 if that does not work it would be a torque converter repair at a cost of $3500. it needs to be done as it is a safety issue and could cause an accident when driving. the car has 40000 miles and is in excellent condition.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the gear shifter was stuck in the park position. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer (randall ford, 5500 rogers ave, fort smith, ar 72903), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. after starting the vehicle and shifting from park to drive or reverse to drive, the vehicle would stall and shut off. the contact indicated that the failure occurred on several occasions over the past two weeks. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (schultz ford, 1300 golf lab rd, pittsburgh pa), but the failure could not be duplicated. the failure was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 41,500.
I purchased my 2014 escape eco boost used in mid 2015. it was 1.5 years old with 74k miles. in december of 2017 the transmission completely stopped shifting with no warning or indication previously. i stopped to get gas one night and took back off and it slipped in second gear and never reengaged. there were no warning lights or code indicators showing on the dash and there was nothing in the way it was driving and shifting previously to make me think there was an issue. it literally just happened all at once. the repair consisted of a complete rebuild. the pressure control solenoid, tcc solenoid, bushing and bearings were replaced totaling an out of pocket $2900.00 on a vehicle that was less thank 4 years old. upon further research i have found that this seems to be a common issue with the eco boost and there is even a recall on the 2008 escapes. as well as some of the 2017 models.
The transmission is not working well, the car has no power, between the r and the drive it makes a noise
Driving down the interstate i receive a warning light "transmission fault service now". i contacted mt view ford and was informed there is a wait on transmission work and the earliest they could get me in is december 20th. being concerned and not wanting to wait a month and a half to get it looked at. i contacted a local transmission shop they hooked my vehicle up and received (2) internal codes 1721 & 1744. the transmission requires a complete rebuild @ 83,000 miles. i've read other customers having the same problem with these transmissions. please issue a recall on the transmissions for the 2014 ford escape.
The pump within the transmission went bad and therefor the entire transmission needs to be replaced
First the wiring had to be replace, week later catalyic convertor, week later transmission, car is only 4 yrs old
108,000 miles going down expressway at 75 mph when the transmission catastrophically failed and had to coast onto the side of the expressway. complete transmission at just over 100,000 miles on a 2014 (only 3 years) old is not acceptable and could create unsafe driving conditions. i was fortunate to be able to coast to the shoulder.
I parked my car at a restaurant, couple hours later it wouldn't start because it said car in gear on the dashboard. even if it was in park the car said still in gear can't start. i had to tow it to the nearest ford dealerships and they said the shifter cable was broken after 3 days. even under 49,000 miles they mentioned it wasn't covered by the powertrain warranty so i had to pay $940.60 for the parts and labor out of pocket.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not immediately accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. the contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. on several occasions, the "transmission failure" message displayed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who changed the transmission fluid, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the local dealer was not notified. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 38,000.
While pulling out into traffic on july 3, 2017, moving at 30 mph, the engine suddenly lost all power and the transmission downshifted causing the car to quickly decelerate nearly causing a rear end collision. the engine warning light indicated an engine fault requiring immediate service. the engine continued running but with hardly any acceleration then loss of power and bucking. i pulled to shoulder and was able to limp home about a mile with engine running erratically all the way. called aaa and had vehicle towed to hammonasset ford in madison ct for service on july 4 2017. awaiting response from them at this time.
Takata recall......i stopped by 7-11 atm to get some money and other items...upon returning to my vehicle i noticed it would not start. the dashboard said it was in reverse even though it was in park mode. i spend approximately 3.5 hours on the phone with the ford motor company trying to get some real help. after no success, i went thru three different customer service reps who were not knowledgeable on how to handle a vehicle that was disabled, stuck in reverse and would not start. i ended up calling aaa and had it towed to my own mechanic because i called three ford dealership stated that it would be at least 2-3 weeks before someone could check out my vehicle. in addition, they were not cooperative in helping me get a rental car either and stated they would not cover the cost of renting a car. my own mechanic who has serviced all my vehicles and there has never been an issue... advised me that the brake cable or something to that effect was broken. i just don't understand how that is possible since i just purchased the vehicle 10/2016. this is the second time in 9 months i've had issues with ford and their faulty products. april 2017 ford motors settled with me over my 2013 ford focus which was in an out of the shop since march 2015. i've had to go thru numerous agencies to get any real help. i've spoken with my mechanic today and was given an approx estimate of $700 to repair and my car won't be available until next week. in addition, it's costing $170 to rent a car to get back and forth to school and work until monday. i am looking for ford to reimburse me for my expenses and cost to repair my vehicle. or the other alternative is to buy back the vehicle. i will never purchase another vehicle from ford again.
At the end of a 55 mile trip the "transmission malfunction" indicator light came on. after the vehicle sat for a few hours i started it up again and the light has not come back on. the vehicle only has 32000 miles and i can't get ford to look at it and tell me if it is electrical or transmiision occured on 7/7/14
On 6/6/2017 my wife's escape was in park on a slight incline and it rolled backwards and struck another vehicle. we contacted ford about it never heard from them. now we hear about a recall on the escape and ford is saying they have no record of a recall on her vehicle when everything i find online it is under the time that ford had bad parts. you are my only help where do i go from here.
My car is having same exact issues as reported in recall #14s17 yet my vin is not included. my vehicle is currently still in garage, going on 2 weeks now, and they just told me 6 our of 7 parts are covered under my warranty yet 1 part, the wiring assembly ec sensor is not and will be $800 to fix. my vehicle literally would stall while driving and had severe hesitation after i turned it off and back on. how can my vehicle in the same year be experiencing same issues as the recall but not be included in the recall because of my vin # and now i'm responsible for the $800? we were headed to little washington, pa and the whole ride up was a hesitation every once in a while while driving down the road. then at one point the car just stalled while driving. turned off and back on and at a red light intersection, hit the gas to go and would not move. turned off and back on and took awhile for the car to go but thankfully we made it home and immediately called ford and made appt at closest dealer to take it to. 2 weeks later and it is still there. the just called 3 days ago to tell be about the parts and not covered. i then called ford back and left my cell phone # to contact me back since i was in the office this week and they called and left a message on home phone explaining that part was not covered under warranty. i am not pleased at all with the dealer first off that took so long and lack of communication or ford for just saying oh well suck it up and pay it. i searched internet and saw this recall that matched my car's experiences to a "t".
There was a recall on the coolant system, to add a sensor due to ford having cars blowing motors. after this recall was done, i had the car in the garage on and off for over a month, to find out that th coolant was leaking into the number 4 cylinder. so, they replace the motor, not sure about the heads. then with in weeks trouble with the transmission.
As i was backing out of a parking spot, vehicle became stuck in reverse. shift arm was stuck in reverse and could not be moved. my foot had to remain pressed down on brake pedal to prevent vehicle from moving farther backward and hitting nearby parked vehicles. vehicle was turned off to prevent further backward movement, which left vehicle blocking oncoming vehicles moving through lot. vehicle was towed to dealer. dealer diagnosed problem as a loose shifter arm bolt. bolt was tightened.
Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle it began having issues with the transmission. they included uncontrolled acceleration, deceleration, rough shifting, transmission and fluid leaks. the vehicle has been in the shop multiple times from 1 day to over 90 days at a time. several repairs took 5-7 weeks. initially the ford dealership and ford motor co. covered the repairs and provided a rental car on two occasions. the issue has not been fully resolved as the vehicle has been in the ford shop since april 1, 2017 while it was being diagnosed and i tried to discuss the issues with ford since they refused to cover the repairs. ford denied our claim to replace the vehicle with less than 25,000 miles on the vehicle under the california "lemon law" statutes. the issues have nearly caused several accidents and the vehicle had to be towed to the shop at one point as i felt it was unsafe to drive. the uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration usually took place at freeway speeds of 55-70 mph. the rough shifting was commonly during a first start or when approaching or pulling away from a stop at an intersection. it would shift rough at speeds 20-35 on residential roadways. the leaks were typically discovered after freeway driving. i have numerous documents and the system would not accept them all so i uploaded a few as samples. the vehicle has been in the shop since april 1, 2017 so i do not have the documents showing the current issues. ford has been difficult to work with and has refused to cover any repairs. ford motor company informed me that they "self report" claims like this to nhtsa and provide nhtsa with my contact information. they also told me my only options would be to file a lawsuit against ford or report the issue to nhtsa as a safety concern. i believe this vehicle has an inherent defect that is a serious safety issue.
I just bought the car in march 2017 and we took it on a trip to the beach. almost there the car started jumping into gear when we took off at the red light. they started getting closer and more harder at each stop so we stopped at a store to check it.theres no dip stick to check the trany with so we thought it might of got hot even though we stopped often. it seemed to help then it started doing it again after some time.we had already paid for the hotel so we went on and stayed with out going many places for fear of not getting back home.on the way home it still did the same but not on the interstate.seems it only did it at stops and starts in towns at lights and stop signs. the ford company has had my car in the shop since i got back home and ive made the first payment with 2 weeks driving out of it.they say it needs a new transmission, but by the car fax paper it was just replaced a month ago . its gonna be another month before i get it back, because they have to order it. just hope i don't have to go through this any more. love the little suv, just hate all this trouble i'm having out of it
On take off car will not always go into gear and when it does it does not have much power to accelerate leaving for a dangerous driving situation. if the motor is shut off and the "computer" resets it will reset and drive ok for a short time but the problem reappears. car is now parked until we can figure what is wrong with it. hate paying for a car that i can't drive.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled inadvertently while driving and was unable to accelerate. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 51,000. ..updated 05/05/17 *bf *cn
The car was stopped and then put into 'reverse' where it successfully reversed from a parking lot onto a residential street. when put directly into 'drive' the car continued to reverse. at this point the shifter control cable broke and/or stopped working not allowing the car to be put into any gear other than 'park'. the car was then put into 'park' where it stayed stationary in a compromising position until it could be towed.
While driving on the hwy at 72mph on cruise control, the transfer case failed, causing the car to lose gear completely. this caused the rpms to skyrocket and the car to immediately begin slowing down - resulting in significant safety risks associated with surrounding traffic. unknown what caused the transfer case to fail.
My mother owns a 2014 ford escape with the 1.6l turbocharged ecoboost engine. she notes that the fuel sensors in the car aren't injecting fuel into the engine when she accelerates from a stop, meaning the car will stick in neutral and rev until it kicks back in gear. she notes that this has happened multiple times. we had taken it to keller bros. ford which is where she purchased it, and they couldn't come up with the problem. so then we went to new holland ford, and they were able to find the problem. the guy even showed my mom how to reset the fuel sensor. but the problem came back up again. my mom, i, and her boyfriend are at the point where if sometime the car hesitates, and someone hits her, she's going to be killed. ford, you need to do something about this. i don't want my mother killed. so recall the escape 1.6l's that have the problem and come up with a solution.
This happened twice in less than a month. driving the ford escape at lower speeds (less than 40 mph) on a city street during morning traffic hours. suddenly heard a continuous loud sound on the rear right of car. vehicle then lost power. engine shut down. had to pull to the shoulder and restart the car. then it worked fine. the dealer could not find any error codes when i took in for service. the air conditioner was on. outside temperature was around 70f. not raining.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford escape. while driving 60 mph, the transmission blew out and the steering column fractured. the vehicle was taken to be repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 48,000.
